Video: Holiday gift ideas from SNL

posted at 9:14 pm on December 17, 2006 by Allahpundit

From last night’s show, a little Yuletide cheer courtesy of Justin Timberlake and “Lazy Sunday” alum Andy Samberg. Totally sophomoric, totally hilarious. And off color, naturally, which is why you’re getting the official boldfaced content warning.

I’m almost ashamed to post it. Almost.

Blowback

Heh… when I saw this last night, I wondered if you’d have the balls to post it.

This was pretty funny too.

Watcher on December 17, 2006 at 9:24 PM

…and I have a leftover box from a pair of earrings that would be perfect!

stonemeister on December 17, 2006 at 9:39 PM

This was pretty funny.

More intersting to me though, was during weekend update they did a joke on Reyes not knowing the difference between Sunni and Shia…. but they neglected to mention that he’s a Democrat. Conan made jokes about Reyes on two nights this week and also didn’t mention that he’s a Democrat. Just that he’s the “new” or “incoming” House Intelligence Chairman.

Now you and I may know that he’s a Democrat because they won house control in the last election, and it doesn’t take an expert to understand this, but do you think that any more than 1 out of 10 people were aware when they heard these jokes? I guarantee that the vast majority just thought it was par for the course for the Bush administration that they already hate. Obviously this isn’t provable and I can’t poll viewers of these programs, but you make up your own mind about it, and ask yourself if SNL and Conan deliberately neglected to mention that he’s a Democrat.

RightWinged on December 17, 2006 at 9:40 PM

I hate to say this, but that show was better because Justin was on there. He’s really talented.

SouthernGent on December 17, 2006 at 9:56 PM

Wasn’t really funny till the very end.

Isn’t there a scene in a movie where the guy does this in a popcorn box in a movie theater?

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on December 17, 2006 at 9:59 PM

Watcher,

That pretty much sums my impression of Nancy Grace. Good
post, Accurate too.

Mickey Rourke – The Pope of Greenwich Village.

fogw on December 17, 2006 at 10:16 PM

It’s Mickey O’Rourke, but you’ve got the wrong movie. It’s actually “Diner.”

asc85 on December 17, 2006 at 10:25 PM

asc85, yeh thanks.

fogw on December 17, 2006 at 10:26 PM

Perhaps Hotair needs a sister site for videos like this. As funny as it is, I am not so sure it is something that should be on this site. It honestly gives me second thoughts about recommending the site to family and friends who I know are Conservative and are also very religious.

zerodamage on December 17, 2006 at 10:27 PM

Something similar was done in Bachelor Party, for you Tom Hanks fans. They have a male stripper serve a ‘hot dog’ to Tom Hanks’ fiance; her mother gets it by mistake…much juvenile hilarity ensues. Not a bad video..kinda funny.

austinnelly on December 17, 2006 at 10:28 PM

It honestly gives me second thoughts about recommending the site to family and friends who I know are Conservative and are also very religious.

But I gave you the content warning!

Allahpundit on December 17, 2006 at 10:31 PM

Ok, so now that song’s stuck in my head.
And my D*&^$ is stuck in a box.

Mazztek on December 17, 2006 at 10:33 PM

But I gave you the content warning!

Allahpundit on December 17, 2006 at 10:31 PM

True dat, AP.

I know my MP3 of this point is on infinite repeat but if Conservatives want more religious/traditionalist video content, they need to start making it themselves.

ScottMcC on December 17, 2006 at 10:41 PM

But I gave you the content warning!

Porn sites give a content warning too! :-P I seriously think there should be a special section on the site for these types of videos or a site designated for such things. Do not get me wrong, I am not prude of any sort. I watch “The Shield” and “Nip Tuck” but I expect that from those shows on TV. I do not expect to see such videos on this site.

zerodamage on December 17, 2006 at 10:44 PM

I’m religous and a conservative and I thought it was funny so I sent it to my daughter and daughter in law.

ChrisIansNana on December 17, 2006 at 10:46 PM

I’m religous and a conservative and I thought it was funny so I sent it to my daughter and daughter in law.

I thought it was funny as well. Showed it to my wife and she thought it was funny. I am just saying that it seems out of place on this site.

zerodamage on December 17, 2006 at 10:48 PM

And a grandma!

ChrisIansNana on December 17, 2006 at 10:49 PM

I am just saying that it seems out of place on this site.

Yeah, AP. Dammit, stop trying to entertain the visitors. What is your damage?

/sarcasm

lorien1973 on December 17, 2006 at 10:57 PM

lol!

jummy on December 17, 2006 at 11:03 PM

I DO NOT approve.

(But it DID lend a whole new meaning to “uncovered meat.”)

CyberCipher on December 17, 2006 at 11:11 PM

Calling Pablo and the Kid – where are you when you’re needed to set things straight?

Entelechy on December 17, 2006 at 11:15 PM

That was awesome! I know what I’m asking for for Christmas.

E. M. on December 17, 2006 at 11:17 PM

That was funny! That SNL guy seems to subliminal link have a knack for these types of songs.

Scot on December 18, 2006 at 12:00 AM

I don’t watch SNL anymore but that was freakin’ hilarious. Thanks for sharing.

RightWinged on December 17, 2006 at 9:40 PM

Hey Randy, more on that story here. A great comedic read.

thedecider on December 18, 2006 at 12:05 AM

One more. This one is more about Reyes.

thedecider on December 18, 2006 at 12:07 AM

I, for one, would like to thank AP (you should work on those initials, by the way…) for having the balls to link this video.

Blacklake on December 18, 2006 at 12:21 AM

Heh… when I saw this last night, I wondered if you’d have the balls to post it.

This was pretty funny too.

Watcher on December 17, 2006 at 9:24 PM

Thanks for the link. It is oh so much fun watching the feminists squirm over this one.

And zerodamage, lighten up Francis. You should have read some of the stuff on AP’s old site. He didn’t shuffle off anything to Ace back then.

Bill C on December 18, 2006 at 12:27 AM

Ha! they missed a **bleep** in there… gasp!

Joe on December 18, 2006 at 12:42 AM

I hate to say this, but that show was better because Justin was on there. He’s really talented.

Agree. Also thought he looked like a Gibb in the “Bee Gees Talk show” segment… maybe he’s related :-)

AP, what did you think of the “Christmas message from Nancy Grace”? Long-winded but made some good pts. When I saw it I thought of Hot Air… not so much with the “box” clip (eek!)

RD on December 18, 2006 at 1:13 AM

I do not expect to see such videos on this site.

You obviously haven’t been around long enough.

JollyRoger on December 18, 2006 at 1:29 AM

I really should listen to those content warnings actually.

Sometimes I can see humor in things like this, but today I’m missing it. Maybe it was parodying a song I don’t know or something, lol.

emmaline1138 on December 18, 2006 at 2:28 AM

News from Iraq.

Scot on December 18, 2006 at 3:17 AM

I thought it inappropriate also. I loved the Mistletoe Dog earlier but this was a bit too much.

GoodBoy on December 18, 2006 at 3:18 AM

ask yourself if SNL and Conan deliberately neglected to mention that he’s a Democrat.

RightWinged on December 17, 2006 at 9:40 PM

“RightWinged,”

Of course I believe they deliberately omit notifying the listeners-audience that these people are Democrats.

They demonstrate their bias by singling out Republicans for the most outrageous, arrogant attacks, but are supportive of leftists and Democrats as if they are part of the same club.

William2006 on December 18, 2006 at 4:29 AM

If SNL keep this up, I may just have to start watching again.

The Ugly American on December 18, 2006 at 5:01 AM

…and yes…..that was a pun

The Ugly American on December 18, 2006 at 5:02 AM

Though I’m wondering if Allah’s gonna get hauled into the principal’s office in the morning.

The Ugly American on December 18, 2006 at 5:05 AM

Allah, does Michelle know you’re doing this at Hotair? I think you’re getting a spanking for Christmas.

Halley on December 18, 2006 at 5:24 AM

A lump of coal for you AP. This is why SNL hasn’t been funny in over 26 years and is a constant reminder of why I don’t watch that crap.

TwinkietheKid on December 18, 2006 at 8:40 AM

What’s so funny about a pencil in a box ?

Sasnak on December 18, 2006 at 8:41 AM

You obviously haven’t been around long enough.

I’ve been reading Hotair since the day it went live. Been a fan of Michelle’s blog for a long time as well. Most recently there have been a lot of these types of videos being posted here.

zerodamage on December 18, 2006 at 8:56 AM

HA doesnt have to be serious all the time. Thanks for the laugh AP.

infidel on December 18, 2006 at 9:17 AM

Thanks for the content warning. And I did think it was pretty funny. But it also seemed out of place for the site. I’d have to score this one a miss.

GPE on December 18, 2006 at 9:26 AM

zero, have you looked at Michelle’s mission statement for HotAir? Her third point is:

Laugh. Report. Laugh. Entertain. Laugh. Inform. Laugh. Make money. Did we say laugh?

So as AP said, he DID issue the content warning. And as someone else aptly said “Lighten up Francis”.

dalewalt on December 18, 2006 at 9:27 AM

So as AP said, he DID issue the content warning. And as someone else aptly said “Lighten up Francis”.

Like I said above, porn sites have content warnings as well. I knew my comment on this would be taken the wrong way and that is ok. I disagree with that type of content here but this is not my site so have fun at it. I am not going anywhere.

zerodamage on December 18, 2006 at 9:50 AM

I thought it was pretty funny – off-color (wait – is that phrase politically correct anymore?) but we did get the content warning.

Slublog on December 18, 2006 at 9:51 AM

I am not going anywhere.

zerodamage on December 18, 2006 at 9:50 AM

Don’t think anybody wants you to friend :-)

dalewalt on December 18, 2006 at 9:51 AM

yeah, I figured you’d post it eventually. I noticed it on your videos on youtube. I was like OMG BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

you, my friend, have issues.

One Angry Christian on December 18, 2006 at 10:05 AM

That feeling of shame you “almost” had… you really should have gone with it.

morganfrost on December 18, 2006 at 10:20 AM

Hey, this is pretty mild stuff for Allah.

Just be thankful he didn’t post his mashup of Lionel Ritchie and Pat O’Brien.

Slublog on December 18, 2006 at 10:26 AM

Just be thankful he didn’t post his mashup of Lionel Ritchie and Pat O’Brien.

I almost posted that last week.

Allahpundit on December 18, 2006 at 10:29 AM

Ace still has it hosted on his site. I started to listen to it at work, but felt guilty – even though I had headphones on.

He is a bad, bad man.

Slublog on December 18, 2006 at 10:31 AM

Allah, does Michelle know you’re doing this at Hotair? I think you’re getting a spanking for Christmas.

Michelle, and Bethany, I’ve been Naughty, too!

Mazztek on December 18, 2006 at 11:14 AM

There is a reason why I love this site and it is assigned as my home page; I disagreed with just about everyone here and I was not insulted. :) By the way, Digg updated their site and now have a podcast section that lets podcasts play directly from the site. Not sure what would have to be done to get the Hotair podcast on there if it isn’t already.

zerodamage on December 18, 2006 at 11:24 AM

This video, out of place just because it’s a conservative site? Nah. This is P.J. O’Rourke conservatism, baby. Bring on the dirty jokes and fiscal responsibility.

alflauren on December 18, 2006 at 11:32 AM

I only watched up to the obvious part. Now I know why I don’t watch SNL. Waste of time. I have too few heartbeats left to expend them on something as tasteless and senseless as that. Oh, and I do have a sense of humor and ain’t a prude. It’s kinda hard not to have a sense of humor or be a prude after 21 years in the Army (not that it can’t be done).

armyvet on December 18, 2006 at 12:04 PM

I don’t see a problem posting this since he did put a content warning.

But I didn’t find it funny at all.

I can see why men would though. They think their *** is a gift alright….

*snort*

;-)

Rightwingsparkle on December 18, 2006 at 1:00 PM

Thank you for helping me shoot soda through my nose as I erupted in laughter. My desk is a mess but it was worth it. Fabulous parody.

wedgedonovan on December 18, 2006 at 1:10 PM

I hate to say this, but that show was better because Justin was on there. He’s really talented.

SouthernGent on December 17, 2006 at 9:56 PM

The Bee Gees schtick he does with Jimmy Fallon is an SNL classic.

infidel4life on December 18, 2006 at 1:58 PM

How about a little adult personal responsibility here?

Once AP throws up the content warning, it’s on you. I, for one, ignored the content warning while at work…and laughed my ass off. If free will is good enough for God, it’s good enough for me, so, please. Enough with the whining. This ain’t the 700 Club.

Now, where did I leave that refrigerator box? :P

Kid from Brooklyn on December 18, 2006 at 2:27 PM

I’m not linking it, but NBC put up the video unedited on their site. Cool.

I think the Timberlake show is one of the overall funniest they’ve done in a while. This ‘digital short’ had me laughing out loud.

I do not expect to see such videos on this site.

zerodamage on December 17, 2006 at 10:44 PM

Not to pick on you. Please don’t take this as a flame, but you did broach the subject. Is the video the problem, or that you’ve had to update your expectations?

DuffBeer on December 18, 2006 at 2:36 PM

This is an old gift idea really. Didn’t we already have a jack-in-the-box that would spring up? I believe John Bobbit already tried this with his second wife……..

ritethinker on December 18, 2006 at 5:14 PM

No wonder Bethany has nothing to do with you, AP!

Still, it’s funny.
