98 cents was skimmed off the top by Louisiana politicians and split 43 ways. The remaining two cents was distributed to Katrina victims, who spent it on strip clubs.

“poor joke gone awry.”

Botched joke.

blame the bad joke on bush

Defector01 on December 16, 2006 at 4:39 PM

For Fitty Cent, you could roll with the Chocolate Mayor.

JammieWearingFool on December 16, 2006 at 4:40 PM

I’ll raise it to $2 if she stays in the kitchen while I’m eating.

JammieWearingFool

I’ll up it to $5 if they’re serving jamabalaya

Defector01 on December 16, 2006 at 4:49 PM

Do I hear $7.50? She’ll do the dishes and then cry for you.

JammieWearingFool on December 16, 2006 at 4:55 PM

Talk about a bad date. Quadruple the bid if she can come collect all her Katrina “victims” who have added another 33% to the violent crime rate here in the Houston area.

Multiply that bid by ten if she’ll let Nagin take her up the ol’ chocolate road like they did to us.

SailorDave on December 16, 2006 at 5:00 PM

Finally, we find the true value of that womans worth.
If you consider all the effort she put into the Katrina affair, it’s still too much, but she did serve for a few years as governor so it evens out…to a dollar if I’m not mistaken.

Poetic justice?

penny for your thoughts? (thats why there was a 98 cent skim mentioned above)

I work with many fine, proud Louisiana folks. They are bright and self-sufficient. They are enraged and embarrassed by these elected morons. The only reason that Blanco and Nagin continue to be re-elected is due to the vote plantations established pre-Katrina.

You think Nagin called for the re-establishmest of a chocolate NOLA due to culture? No… it’s because his political life depends on his ’slaves.’

SailorDave on December 16, 2006 at 5:16 PM

I put ten dollars up if she can remove “it’s bush’s fault” from her vocabulary, and learn the terms “individual responsibility”.

One Angry Christian on December 16, 2006 at 5:18 PM

The politics of the State of Louisiana and all other States and polities would be much improved if the vote were limited to adults of average intelligence or better. If the below-average didn’t like the outcome, perhaps they could organize and demand to be allowed to vote.

So it’s clear, I’ll mention that, for now, this is intended as a thought-experiment, not a practical proposal. As an experiment, it could be carried out tolerably well in the form of an online poll. For example, imagine how much more interesting, controversial, and traffic-generating the monthly poll at GOPBloggers.org would be if “IQ” scores could be tallied along with the votes and if totals could be viewed for ranges of scores. Anything of this sort would be wicked fun.

:-)

She must be a democrat. Party affiliation is not listed in the story ;) But there was a dig at republicans in there. Check and check. Overall, a typical AP story.

lorien1973 on December 16, 2006 at 5:38 PM

Yes, she is a dimocrat. I think $1 is far too much to spend to have dinner with her. One copper penny would be my highest bid.

Catie96706 on December 16, 2006 at 5:42 PM

lol…how embarrassing but she deserved it.

ekuspa40 on December 16, 2006 at 5:52 PM

Hey – if the meal was at KPauls in NO- I would have bid $100 and left the idiot Governor HOME>

iam7545 on December 16, 2006 at 5:56 PM

She should have had her dinner at a soup kitchen and gottne a bigger response.LOL

bones47 on December 16, 2006 at 8:37 PM

I like APs math seems about right. Whats that in the 98 cent link about a German steel mill. That my friend is great news. I hope they are manufacturing the raw goods here in the U.S.

sonnyspats1 on December 16, 2006 at 8:56 PM

William Jefferson ‘Congressman Louisiana” wanted to bid $2 but could not separate $2 from the money ice pack without defrosting it first.

Wade on December 16, 2006 at 8:59 PM

I say we have frozen dinners with the Gov at Jefferson’s house. I mean really… how much could THAT be worth?

Mojave Mark on December 16, 2006 at 11:33 PM

One dollar? That’s more than she deserves after telling FEMA “Just give me another 24 hours.” before she’d let them come in. But hey, we all know whose fault THAT is, don’t we? *cough* Bush *cough*

Tony737 on December 17, 2006 at 9:25 AM

Not only does she deserve this, so do the voters of Louisiana. Nagin, Jefferson and Blanco, the three stooges that they refuse to put out of office.

When they start looking for a helping hand at the end of their arms, then I’ll reconsider helping them out.

voiceofreason on December 17, 2006 at 10:57 AM

Reminds you of the immortal words of Gump – “Stupid is as stupid does”.

Unfortunately, Gump seems to be the only intelligent life in Louisiana.

Emmett J. on December 17, 2006 at 9:47 PM

If I payed a dollar to have dinner with Kathleen Blanco, the only thing I’d be thinking is….”Where’s my change?”

Soothsayer on December 17, 2006 at 11:57 PM

Just proves that you can’t get much for a buck now-a-days…

RalphyBoy on December 18, 2006 at 1:37 AM

Reminds me of those 10-10-220 commercials.
