Meanwhile back in reality the best scientific debunking comes from a commentary from the editors of Scientific American on the topic. Hmmm..

My daughter is Lactose intolerant, so we have been giving her soy-milk with her cereal in the morning rather than regular milk…

Should I be starting a “grandkids fund” already?

Not that expect her to get pregnant by drinking soy milk, (duh) but if all this estrogen is turning little boys effeminate, what the heck is it doing to our daughters?

This might at least partly explain the phenomena we are seeing of girls hitting puberty earlier and earlier. Massive doses of estrogen early on in life for girls has GOT to have an effect on them if it affects the boys as much as it does.

The father in me is very worried for my daughter.

I won’t comment on what the “dirty old man” side of my brain is thinking right now… *bad brain!* *SLAP!*

True story: I have a client who had heart surgery, valve replacement if memory serves, several years ago. He was a vegetarian. His doctor told him that in order to heal quickly, he needed to start eating meat.

I know a few vegetarians, and they never look healthy. They look frail, have large dark circles under their eyes, and the men look anorexic. I had a friend who went vegetarian, and after a year of complaining about no energy, started to eat fish. She’s felt better ever since.

You can’t beat our biology. We have all the biological characteristics of carnivores. So, vegetarianism, veganism, is actually unnatural…kind of like the way the War on Drugs demonizes a plant that grows naturally on the Earth. To me, it seems a bit unnatural to outlaw the natural.

What research is being referred to support this postion on soy products?

This assertion about soy products seems absurd and the stuff just made for comic relief – but it would be intersting to see where these ideas came from and what specific research is behind it.

I just used soy milk tonight to make my Hamburger Helper. I started buying the soy milk because I only use about half a gallon of “milk” every 3-6 months, and the soy stuff doesn’t go bad. The partial carton I emptied tonight said “Use by August” or something…maybe June.

I think the above paragraph makes me pretty freakin’ far from being gay. A disgusting bachelor, sure, but definitely not gay.

The funny thing about this whole debate (about soy milk making younger guys trend towards ‘limp wristedness’) is that the first time I read about it 16-17 years ago:

In a little ‘new agey’ magazine that was owned, operated, published and mostly written by two gay guys.. and one of their major advertisers was a soy milk manufacturer/ distributor.

I knew the guys that operated the magazine. They were actually pretty cool, rational and non-PC for guys who made their entire living and lifestyle off being ‘gay, new-agey, hippie types.’

So anyway, this is no new thing dreamed up by “Karl Rove and the right wing Christian Radicals”..
