Absurd. I can understand, I guess, the boss getting bleeped for saying what she said. She meant it figuratively, but fine. Why bleep Tammy, though? She used a clinical term. It’s perfectly appropriate.
A surprising lack of balls on Fox’s part, I must say.
Update: Tammy comments.

Well there goes “Fair and Balanced” and “We Report, You Decide.”

Didn’t know you couldn’t say “masturbate” on Fox. Learn something new every day.
Anyhoo, welcome to the club, Tammy!
Maybe we should have t-shirts: I Got Bleeped On the Factor.

What exactly is a “progressive feminist”? Isn’t that like saying “liberal communist”, or “lying Democrat”?
BigOrangeAxe on December 12, 2006 at 11:30 AM
you ladies need to stop using such foul language :-p
Defector01 on December 12, 2006 at 11:31 AM
Tammy should have know better than to use a medically accurate term on fox why say the ‘M’ word when should could have have just said “Surfin’ the channel” “Parting the red sea” or the ever popular “Paddling the pink canoe”

Those are all clinical definitins, by the way. I heard them on House.
EF on December 12, 2006 at 11:37 AM
But I think that fox is inconsistent… I know I have heard the elderly Dr on fox and friends use the ‘M’ word to describe “polishing the pearl”
liberrocky on December 12, 2006 at 11:39 AM
Generally you are correct Big… but I put Tammy in that special Demo area with Lieberman. A Lieberman/Bruce or Bruce/Lieberman (with Tammy you never know who is on top) ticket; now that is what the demos should be talking about.
She is left, but she has kicked the feminists a** all over the media. Always thought she was an independent thinker.
right2bright on December 12, 2006 at 12:09 PM
What is Fox doing? Pandering to social conservatives who would be offended by words like masturbate in balls even in the most clinical or relevent of contexts? It makes them look childish and silly. Unless someone is dropping F-Bombs let them speak!
JaHerer22 on December 12, 2006 at 12:11 PM
I had to work on a fishing boat as a baiter for two years before I got my master’s license, and now OREALLY’s bleeping out my profession! What next???

Fox News seems to be a wee bit overly prudish, IMHO. There was bleeping nothing wrong with her words!
kevcad on December 12, 2006 at 12:19 PM
All this talk is going to make me need to “box my clown”
Seriously though O’Reilly’s show has really gone down hill anyway, the last 4 or 5 months. He has been moving in on Gretta’s turf.
Gooch on December 12, 2006 at 12:19 PM
I’m wondering if he’s trying to be sensitive to all the old farts, like my 72 year old father, who watch his show.
I think my dad might be offended by the M-word, but not so much Michelle’s B-word.
CookeyD on December 12, 2006 at 12:26 PM
I was listening to Tammy on O’Reilly, but not watching. The *bleep* got my attention. She was talking about Madonna so it was no trouble figuring out what word got bleeped. IMO, they bleeped the wrong “M” word.

A limerick, FOX style:
A man with two, fat hairy [CENSORED]
Was [CENSORED] while taking some calls;
But along came a [CENSORED]
Whose [CENSORED] was [CENSORED]
‘Til he [CENSORED] like Niagara Falls.

Can you fill in the blanks? Scroll down for hints:

In proper order:
[dogs]
[walking them in the park while wearing one of those ear-cell phone attachments]
[squirrel]
[zany, Disney-like antics] was [enough to drive his dogs mad with annoyance which led them to suddenly chase the squirrel, and the force of their mad dash towards the playful rodent was so strong that the man's leash-holding arm was pulled from its socket in a Sam Peckinpah spray of gore]
[bled]
See, this is why I don’t do many limericks. They’re just too violent.

Sorry ’bout the typos.

I stopped watching O’R about a year ago except when Laura Ingraham subs for him, and only recently heard of Glenn Beck, who is fabulous. I hate to turn on that channel, but we’re not a Neilsen family, so whatever…
As for the bleeping – kids have to learn about erectile dysfunction, priapism and every other issue just on TV commercials these days, so it seems pretty stupid to bleep the word masturbation.

I could be wrong, but I thought that freaky campaign ad with the Vietnamese prostitute contained the dreaded m-word, and it was shown a few times on Fox.
Oh well, score another one for Carl Monday.

I don’t get that being used to refer to Tammy, either. When O’Reilly uses the term progressive, he doesn’t mean it in a nice way, and I don’t think it fits TB. Does she refer to herself that way? Feminist, I’ll buy, though she’s no feminazi and when she found herself in bed with them, she got up and left.
Tammy rocks.
Pablo on December 12, 2006 at 2:12 PM
Tammy is unique. A conservative feminist.
…smoke on your pipe and put that-in…
Mojave Mark on December 12, 2006 at 2:58 PM
“caressing the camel-toe.”
After reading her book, The New Thought Police, I find it hard to consider her a “progressive” in the modern leftist sense of the word. By her own description, she’s an “openly gay, pro-choice, gun-owning, pro-death penalty, liberal, voted-for-Reagan feminist,” which makes it very hard to pigeon-hole her.
georgej on December 12, 2006 at 3:02 PM
And this from the network that brought us Family Guy, The Simpsons and Married with Children.
So is it specific to FOX then? Would CNN and MSNBC allow words like b@lls?
Esthier on December 12, 2006 at 3:09 PM
Fluffing the carpet.
Tammy is a trip; don’t have a clue where she’s coming from, usually. She talks like a conservative, but must be more like a libertarian, right?
Jaibones on December 12, 2006 at 3:23 PM
“Balls!” snapped the Queen, “if I had ‘em, I’d be King!”
“Nuts!” sneered the Prince, “I’ve got ‘em and I’m not King!”
“Crap!” bellowed the King, and thirty thousand loyal subjects squatted and heaved, for in those days the King’s word was law.”
mojo on December 12, 2006 at 3:35 PM
I only have a problem with her pro-choice, and I think if I sat down with her she would accept my postition or at least understand it, and I would probably do the same for her. You cannot agree on everything. The gay issue is a red-herring. The democrats bring it up to divide, and to humiliate. I could see her speaking at the Republican convention, we are the party of inclusion. The democrats want nothing to do with her, she is way too independent.
right2bright on December 12, 2006 at 3:37 PM
Tammy Bruce,….and
She seems to be like Zell Miller, someone who didn’t leave the party but was left by the party.
Entelechy on December 12, 2006 at 4:04 PM
Bill: I think this is a bit of an overreaction on your part…
Tammy: We certainly have to admit as feminists that this is not what we’ve worked for…

Lets see…
openly gay, pro-choice, liberal, feminist. Pretty much a cultural liberal.
pro-death penalty, voteded-for-Reagan. So she supports the rule of law, and fiscal conservatism.
4 strikes for liberal, 2 for conservative. I think it’s pretty clear where to pigeon-hole her. She is an intelligent liberal. (As in not completely insane).
She also has found a wonderful niche for her career as a liberal in conservative clothing.
Lawrence on December 12, 2006 at 5:25 PM
From House as well…
“Saying Ya-Ya to the sisterhood”.
That was the line from House when the mother finally got it, that her daughter was “suffering” from gratification syndrome.

Some of the terms are hilarious (”fluffing the carpet”)! There are others listed here.

Can’t have a masturbation thread without The Divinyls.
Scot on December 12, 2006 at 8:39 PM
Did she say “masturbate?”
I thought she said “Celebrate?”
Or was it “Emulate?”
Or maybe it was “Eviscerate.”
No, now I’ve go it, she said that Madonna “gesticulates.”
Right?

What ever happened to that day of masturbation, or day of Orgasm, designed to bring energy to planet earth so that Bush’s and the US’s violent tendencies would be silenced and peace will rule the planet and love will steer the stars?
I wonder if the violent Jihadis and others would capitulate and become peaceful?

William2006 on December 12, 2006 at 9:41 PM
While I agree with Bruce on many political issues, I disagree with her that “this” is not what second-wave feminists worked for. From Friedan and Steinham on, feminists worked for the destruction of the very thing that was America’s stablizing force – the traditional American family. You reap what you sow, Tammy, and all of us are paying for it now. American society is fractured, divorce is rampant, kids are messed up, and because 40 is the new 20-something, we are looking at 20 more years of progressive rule.
Connie on December 13, 2006 at 12:37 AM
At this rate, anybody on Fox News uttering “Nuts!” in reference to General Tony McAuliffe’s famous reply of the American surrender at Bastogne in WWII could be bleeped!
kevcad on December 13, 2006 at 1:27 AM
OR continues to lose viewers and is starting to go with some odd programming–my favorite is the woman who is a “body language” expert. (This is a profession?) She yammers on about what Mel Gibson’s facial expressions can tell us about what he is really thinking. Be still my heart.
