Thank you for posting these Vents. I really feel better knowing that there are honest Muslims out there, so I don’t slip down the slope of naked racism.

seejanemom on December 12, 2006 at 9:26 AM

I read this book last month, having had almost no knowledge of Islamic history. It is a critical read for any non-Muslim who wants to understand the motivation behind Islamic terrorism. God bless Robert Spencer.

Excellent interview, Michelle.

aunursa on December 12, 2006 at 9:35 AM

I own three Korans. One has an English appendix with notes in the margins. There is some truly scary stuff in there that could (and is!)easily be twisted by an illiterate populace.

seejanemom on December 12, 2006 at 9:41 AM

SUGGESTION: Michelle/AllahPundit, can you give us a heads up when you are going to do interviews, just like with Steyn? It would be great to have an opportunity to ask questions of RS via HotAir-and amazing if we could log in to an on-line question and answer session.

For myself-I would love to hear about how RS came to study Islam, how he perfected his Arabic, and what path of academic study he would recommend to others interested in pursuing this field.

As well-to let him know that a copy of his book “The Politically Incorrect Guide To Islam” was checked out once from my local library and then ((poof)) disappeared! Isn’t that crazy? And they are not replacing it.

How many other people have had trouble getting these, and other conservative titles at their local libraries? There is all kinds of censorship going on at libraries.

WriterMom on December 12, 2006 at 10:01 AM

Excellent interview. Now if someone could find a way to put this interview on network TV . . . nah, never happen. Too bad, though. You’d be hearing moonbat heads explode from coast to coast.

MarineDad on December 12, 2006 at 10:14 AM

These short interviews are so helpful. Please keep it up so that viewers can become more and more conversant with others who are so in denial and want quick comfort.

Robert Spenser is a wise and courageous man. May God protect him and his family from those who would silence or harm him.

Webutante on December 12, 2006 at 10:33 AM

Very informative. Thank you Mr. Spencer and Ms. Malkin for your important work. You too HA crew.

infidel on December 12, 2006 at 10:45 AM

The bottom line of Spencer’s remarks: Muslims hate us because of who we are, rather than what we have done, and there is nothing we can do short of converting to Islam that will lessen this hatred. The left and even some on the right live in a fantasy world in which peace can be obtained with the Islamonazis if we only change to be less obnoxious to them.

We are at war with those Muslims who take Mohammed’s teachings literally. It will win only with the complete victory of one side. This is why we cannot give up in Iraq.

ptolemy on December 12, 2006 at 10:53 AM

Excellent interview. I just received ‘The Truth about Mohammad’ and only skimmed over it. Looks like I have some reading to do. I look forward to it.

The current ‘War on Terror’ isn’t new — I think its been happening for the past 1400 years.

CrazyFool on December 12, 2006 at 11:29 AM

Wow! Superb Vent! Clearly presented, thoughtful, pertinent, how much better can Hot Air reporting get? This is one of the best Vents to date. Excellent Vent!

Robert Spencer and Michelle are billiant in their discourse over the base causes of Muslim terrorist violence and our relation with Islamic states. What a spectacular vent!

omegaram on December 12, 2006 at 12:01 PM

This Vent is a must see for the general public
Thanks for bringing this to inform and educate us in the right way versus the way most of Islam wants us to be taught. AWESOME Michelle and Mr Spencer, God Bless you both

bones47 on December 12, 2006 at 12:56 PM

Clearly presented and factual as usual. This would be good for anyone still stuck the “all religions are basically the same” mode.

Glenn Beck, for example, ought to partake. I watched his show last night and it was on Islam again. It was good except for his insistance in the RoP myth. He said he read the Koran ‘from cover to cover’ and spoke with many ‘moderate Muslims’ in his quest to learn about Islam and came to the RoP conclusion. I thought, man, those are two ways to not learn about Islam. The Koran is virtually meaningless to newbies when read ‘cover to cover’ – I know, because I tried that method once. And going to Muslims or apologists for instruction can/will lead to misinformation and obfuscation.

Robert, please help Glenn Beck!

forest on December 12, 2006 at 12:59 PM

Bravo, Robert! Thank you so much for your brave and invaluable work.

Radical Muslims do not want any critical discussion of Islam at all and will continue to use violence and intimidation to stifle it. God bless all those who stand up for freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.

Mr. Spencer has courage, unlike the cowardly false courage of a suicide bomber. How courageous is it to kill yourself if you believe you will step into a better place instantly?
I believe my physical death will be but a graduation into the better eternal life promised by God, but He doesn’t order me to kill anyone to punch my entrance ticket.

Thank you Michelle, excellent interview.

Freelancer on December 12, 2006 at 3:28 PM

Michelle, ditto to all the applause above, best Vent yet. I agree w/WriterMom, it would be fantastic to be able to join in on a live chat and ask questions. I’m interested on Robert’s take on this: What is the primary difference between the “Allah” of the Koran who supposedly spoke to Muhammad and the God of the Bible, “Jehovah Adonai”, “Jehovah Elohim” who spoke to Jesus on numerous occasions in the Gospels? It’s strange that Muslims hold to “Allah’s” instructions to convert or destroy nonbelievers; that “Allah” instructed them to destroy all the followers of His Son, Jesus, Whose birth the world celebrates this season of the year. That Jesus, Who said that “no one can come to The Father (“Jehovah Adonai”) except by Me” and also said, “no one can come to Me, except the Holy Spirit draw him”. Um…seems to be a different god (small “g”) don’t you think? Seems to be a conflict here. To me, and I’m sure others, that “Allah” that spoke to Muhammad, was anything but a “heavenly messenger”. Jesus said satan masquerades as an “angel of light” but he’s obviously “of the dark side” and “a liar and the father of lies”. Thank you Michelle & Robert. Anxious for tomorrow’s Vent. Blessings to all.

Roger Brown on December 12, 2006 at 3:57 PM

Just choose a side, folks. Who the hell knows WHO is right anymore??

seejanemom on December 12, 2006 at 4:19 PM

Bravo! Short, honest and to the point. Putting islam in historical light by muslim’s own words.

What I don’t understand is how people can get fooled into joining the Meccan’s cult and why the rest of us should be forced to tolerate them. I’m sure there were moderate Nazis. Right.

Roger short note: Allah was a moon god in the Kaaba in Mecca. One stone statue out of about 360.

Getting ready for the CAIR lawsuit in three, two, one…

Timber Wolf on December 12, 2006 at 4:27 PM

To Roger Brown, seejanemom and anyone else who still does not really get it:

There is no Islam without Muhammad. Allah ‘spoke’ only to Muhammad. The only way to know Allah’s will is to follow the example of Muhammand, who is deemed to be the “Perfect Man” who has the “highest morals”.

What Muhammad proscribed is haram (forbidden). What Muhammad expressly prescribed is halal (permitted). Otherwise, what he did is to be emulated as living the will of Allah. There is no Golden Rule in Islam, just an enormous bunch of arbitrary rules and one basic command: the world belongs to Allah, and we Muslims are His servants and must fight, kill and die to make the whole world live under His will.

THERE IS NOTHING ELSE. Allah is totally unknowable, unreachable, not understandable. Humans were created to worship Allah, to submit to his will, to be his slaves (which in Islam is a good thing). The Koran (or Qur’an) is uncreated and is the reflection of the book in Heaven. It is perfect and cannot be questioned.

Thus when Allah/Muhammad says to “Kill the Infidels (Unbelievers) wherever you find them” means just that. The fact that Muhammad had sex with a 9 year-old Aisha is something to be emulated. Islam is totally alien ideology that has nothing to do with Judeo-Christian religion.

Part of Islamic ‘theology’ is that since there is only one Allah, his message to the earlier prophets could not have been different and hence the holy books of the Jews and Christians MUST be forgeries since those very prophets were Muslims.

Muslims do not belong in non-Muslim lands. One the one hand they say the Sharia is perfect, but they live here where there is NOT Sharia and they complain, demanding more and more concessions to their ‘law’. GO LIVE IN A SHARIA LAND AND LEAVE US ALONE.

Muhammad was evil, his actions were evil and the religion cum cult that he made up was, is and always will be evil. Muhammad cannot be taken out of Islam.

I wonder what it would take to get Michelle to interview me.

That would be soo cool!

Lawrence on December 12, 2006 at 5:31 PM

Robert Spencer is not a Muslim, though he does look sharp in that beard. Were he a Muslim he would be at considerably greater risk.

I have race on my mind so somewhat relatedly…

The mentality of “victim-hood” is something that black Americans identify with. When we think of “Muslims” we think of Malcolm X and therefore empathy with The Nation of Islam goes with that.

However, NOI are not Muslims but apostates. “ALL PRAISE TO THE HONORABLE ELIJAH MUHAMMAD” – not the prophet Muhammad but Wallace Fard Muhammad who they claim was the Mahdi.

When Malcolm X was exposed to the spiritual environment of Mecca during the Hadj, upon returning to America and separation from the NOI – they killed him.

Could it be that NOI assassins were exposed to parts of the Koran that sanctioned the murder of Malcolm X? Almost certainly – using the Koran as a weapon.

From “black Muslims”, to “black Jews” (don’t even ask), and needless to mention black Baptists and all other Christians – black folks are on the “Islamist” hit list.

However in stead of drawing logical conlusions that at very least “Islamist” are like the Klu Kluc Klan, the left have drawn sympathetic parallels.

Have you noticed how few interviews with the family of 911 victims are black? I have seen a few – unequivocal condemnation of barbaric death cultists. MSM: “cut that”.

Agrippa2k on December 12, 2006 at 7:21 PM

Wow, informing the public on current events like no others; Michelle and Robert Spencer in a scholarly discussion about the primary threat to freedom and democracy of our time.

What sort of awards do these types of interviews get on cable or broadcast TV? Whatever it is there should be one made of solid gold for webcasting and Michelle should get the first one. No kidding.

Bravo, Bravo!

Zorro on December 12, 2006 at 7:22 PM

Thank you Ethelred, yes, I, indeed, get it. My question to Robert and Michelle was actually to any Muslim who might be reading here. There is no way “Allah” is the God of the Bible, of the Jews of the Old Testament. I realize that, my question was probably more rhetorical, realizing that a Muslim would answer as you have, that I and the rest of the world are nothing but cannon fodder, or IED fodder, unless we convert. Not gonna happen. Yes, your answer is, hopefully, just about how the rest of the non-Muslim world sees Islam. Violent and unbending. Or at least should. Those of us with thinking minds unclouded by the left’s drivel.

Yes, Zorro, I second that award nomination.

Roger Brown on December 12, 2006 at 7:51 PM

This was a blast of clear and cool mountain air to dissipate the MSM/RoP murk.

Thank you, thank you.

MarcH on December 12, 2006 at 9:55 PM

President Bush should become friends with Mr Spencer. He then might learn something of Islam. He might learn that Islam has been spread by the sword for 1400 years. Convert or die, there is no 3rd way, no triangulation strategy. It is like being sort of pregnant…either you is or you ain’t

Sweaty Deacon on December 12, 2006 at 10:46 PM

He is a very brave (and probably marked) man. May the Lord protect him.

jman on December 12, 2006 at 11:00 PM

Spencer: Allah hasn’t ripped the spine from my back yet.
Malkin: Thank God for that.
