Hysterical laughter. Priceless.

She’s a Dem,she could leave her date to die underwater in a car with a trunk full of bribe money from a chain of brothels, have a press conference to threaten to kill the president and still get a total pass.

bbz123 on December 11, 2006 at 8:39 AM

SOMEBODY shut that fat chick UP! I have just the thing!

seejanemom on December 11, 2006 at 8:41 AM

Never mind. She’d like it way too much.

seejanemom on December 11, 2006 at 8:42 AM

what a jackass!

Donkeyhue on December 11, 2006 at 9:01 AM

Cut it out Michelle! This is Monday morning and you are violating my right to be the Town Grouch until 4PM tomorrow. How dare you force me to chuckle against my will!

Question: How can we get The View on Al-Jazeera? The war will be over when Rosie sings.

Oilpatcher on December 11, 2006 at 9:09 AM

I had a similar experience to Michelle when I was in grade school back in the 1980s (I’m half Filipino). I went to a Cub Scout day camp where a black kid did the same “ching chong” thing to me. It was “moronic mockery” and “bigot-speak” then, and it still is now.

mtcicero74 on December 11, 2006 at 9:09 AM

Being a ching chong liberal means never having to admit you are wrong.

dalewalt on December 11, 2006 at 9:10 AM

You had WAY too much fun doing that, M – classic!

Everybody wang-chun tonight!

Tru2my2 on December 11, 2006 at 9:18 AM

Nice. The same media that’s jumping all over Rush for a joke he made about his cat (taking it as a sexist remark) is giving Orca on the view a total pass. What else is new. Asian americans aren’t a sanctified group; it’s still ok to make fun of them, well, unless you’re a conservative. Keep it up Michelle.

austinnelly on December 11, 2006 at 9:18 AM

Rosie is a C-word and I don’t mean Ching or Chong

Wade on December 11, 2006 at 9:19 AM

Thanks, I have to start my week looking at Rosie’s face. Please Michelle save that stuff till mid week.

And Michelle, please apologize to all of the grade schoolers, they are should never be compared to Rosie.

right2bright on December 11, 2006 at 9:21 AM

I think you are being entirely too niggardly about this.

Lesbe friends about this Rosie!

Wander on December 11, 2006 at 9:27 AM

Liked today’s vent, and of course agree with Michelle.

If you’re a person who is hyper-sensitive when others make comments about your gender and/or affectional preference, then you need to shut the fuck up when it comes to “joking” about any other group.

asc85 on December 11, 2006 at 9:42 AM

I agree that Rosie was completely out of line here, and glad Michelle decided to do a vent on this issue.

If you’re going to walk around in life hyper-sensitive and finding perceived slights when people make comments about your gender and/or affectional preference, than you should just shut the f*ck up and refrain from making “jokes” about anyone else.

asc85 on December 11, 2006 at 9:45 AM

Rosie needs to watch this.

infidel4life on December 11, 2006 at 10:02 AM

Bigot Speak.

Indeed.

Ya know, though, Rosie’s Rulez of Etichette only apply to us knuckle-dragging righties who believe in rules. Lefties are too good smart to have to follow rules, because they don’t believe in rules.

Lawrence on December 11, 2006 at 10:02 AM

Good Vent. Rosie is just another example of Hollyweird on Parade. Limo liberal racism just doesn’t surprise me anymore.

itzWicks on December 11, 2006 at 10:20 AM

“Where are those Asian whaling vessels when ya’ NEED them?”

Tru2my2 on December 11, 2006 at 10:27 AM

Can’t we send her to the Sudan on a peace mission or something. Maybe we can get her to go support starving children in Africa.

She looks like she could feed a family of starving Africans for a month.

Not if she was required to sing for her supper…

urbancenturion on December 11, 2006 at 10:39 AM

Great Vent Michelle, still laughing.

But as you watch these morons, and listen to what they consider to be intelligent discussion of important issues, it scares me that these idiots are also voting based on these lines of thinking. I find myself, more and more, agreeing with Joseph Farah’s idea of requiring a American History/Civics test being required prior to being allowed to vote. Sean Hannity nails this all the time with his man on street questions. Last week, a large number of respondents didn’t have a clue as to the importance of 12/7/41. We all know that the left in this country has completely dumped 9/11 from their memories. Can you say the Huns are at the gates of Rome? Maybe not quite that bad yet, but we are on that road.

I bet she gets sweat rings all the way down to her flabby waist when she is walks.

BobK on December 11, 2006 at 10:47 AM

I’ve made this point before: Since people of East Asian extraction in America, as a group, do better in school and business than everyone else, it’s OK to mock them, especially if you’re a lefty pushing the politics of envy. It’s easier than having to work harder to keep up with them.

The Monster on December 11, 2006 at 10:50 AM

Liu admonished Walters for sitting by and not scolding O’Donnell for making the “derogatory remarks” that “have consequences beyond the stupidity of the person who made them.”

That’s going to leave a mark.

natesnake on December 11, 2006 at 10:50 AM

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The best part of being a liberal is freedom from the bonds of hypocrisy. They have a natural immunity. They’re just carriers, like Typhoid Mary.

Once again the Rosie-philes clapped and yucked it up. Lowbrow humor for a lowbrow audience.

You bunch of Haters!!!

You only wish you had the racial/sexual/moral authority that Rosie brandishes!

I wish I could be an bigoted, obnoxious, moronic, 1/4 ton, lesbian, with the fashion sense of a barn yard swine.

natesnake on December 11, 2006 at 10:58 AM

Watching the clip of Rosie, it honestly didn’t seem like she did it with any racist intent. Though no more so than any other racist or sexist sounding remark that gets trumped up. But the difference is, Rosie has the moral authority to where she can get away with the “it wasn’t racist remark”, where as Michelle pointed out, a Republican would not.

Also, some what on topic, Sarah Silverman has a good clip from her stand up about how we, in general, allow racism when it comes to Asians. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knsnTtXwQAg

And its so true, too. No one cares about offending Asians because they are never “outraged!”. There is a lesson in there some where. ;)

CorinthianJest on December 11, 2006 at 11:03 AM

Michelle,I look forward to your daily blog, vent and columns – good work.

This one though – overdone.
Rosie is not worth that much of your time.
The third grader comparison said it all.

roydee43 on December 11, 2006 at 11:03 AM

Even more damning than Rosie’s hypocrisy is the audience reaction to her remarks. After all, it is comprised in the main of persons who would oppose the term “terrorist,” much less “Muslim terrorist” or the descriptive term “Islamo-nazi.” It would totally eviserate a conservative using the term “Negro” instead of “African-American.” Yet, it finds great hilarity in a liberal icon using the crudest stereotype of a “protected” minority in order to get cheap laughs.

I edgarly waiting the joint apology of Rosie with her bigoted, racist audience.

ptolemy on December 11, 2006 at 11:04 AM

Rosie jumped the shark and then she ate it.

JammieWearingFool on December 11, 2006 at 11:05 AM

I used to read Newsday, which to its credit suspended Jimmy Breslin for a week after he called a staffer a “yellow cur.” When his colleague Murray Kempton came to his defense, a letter writer (not me) wrote, “He should take whatever measure of contrition he is capable of and shut up.” Didn’t even have to Google it.

mymanpotsandpans on December 11, 2006 at 11:09 AM

Smiles at the excellent vent. Rosie and most liberals in general are hypocrisy at its finest, which is what I took from the vent.

As to the mockery, name calling don’t dwell on it for the political correctness games lies down that path.

MarkB on December 11, 2006 at 11:19 AM

The “boorization of America” proceeds apace…

pubscout on December 11, 2006 at 11:29 AM

Great Vent Michelle

This Vent shows such a classic trait of the MSM and the Left: Hypocracy. They express indignation or support based not on content, but on the political alignment of the speaker and event.

omegaram on December 11, 2006 at 11:45 AM

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: one of the reasons I’m conservative is that I’m not bigoted or prejudiced enough to be a liberal.

Liberals are racist by definition. Period.

psrch on December 11, 2006 at 11:58 AM

What, no “Trapper Keeper” clip from South Park as part of this Vent? I’m outraged.

Dave Shay on December 11, 2006 at 12:20 PM

The complete lack of substantive immediate reaction on the part of the other members of the ‘View’ panel clearly shows that they find no objection to racial groin-hits of this type. I am saddened, not by Rosie’s lack of decorum, but by the fact that there are enough viewers of the ‘View’ to warrant its continued existence.

ztep86 on December 11, 2006 at 12:57 PM

Sorry, but it would have been MUCH more effective, if you had spoken in Real Chinese, or Japanese, or any other Asian language, with the appropriate English insertions.

Condeming her, by doing the same?

Don’t we usually leave that to the left?

Romeo13 on December 11, 2006 at 1:14 PM

Great vent – and the comments and this thread are even funnier!

A challenge to any future View guest: go on that horrid show and do EXACTLY what Rosie did … but rather than mocking Asians, mock an Arab accent. Lots of ululating and lalalala and clearing your throat. Perhaps toss in an “Allahu Akbar” at least once. That sort of thing.

And then watch the reaction.

It would be …. interesting. Revealing. Illustrative, I think.

And then when you take note of that very interesting reaction …. ponder the irony of the fact that a lot of people that sound like the group YOU’RE mocking actually DO want to kill us all.

The only thing funnier than ironic hypocrisy is hypocritical irony.

Of course, liberal hypocrisy does have some VERY good news for all you ChingChong’ers out there: OBVIOUSLY, once we’re in some future conflict with some Asian country, mocking your accent will suddenly be as appalling to liberals as mocking Arabs is now!

So …. one good war with China, and all that chinging and chonging will vanish. I promise. Today it’s funny. Once Asians are an actual enemy, though … liberals will be the first to embrace them.

Trust me on this.

Liberals are nothing if not absolutely predictable.

GregH on December 11, 2006 at 5:05 PM

You’ve got to deconstruct the O’Donnell worldview:

Democrat = virtue

Therefore, all she has to do is go out and vote Democrat every other year, and she can never be accused of wrongdoing. She could come on “The View” in blackface, do a bunch of jokes about watermelon, fried chicken and welfare checks, and never think herself guilty of racism — so long as she concluded her routine with a vicious shot at President Bush.

Being a Democrat is a virtue that excuses any vice.

Ali-Bubba on December 11, 2006 at 5:31 PM

Why do people even pay attention to “The View?” Seriously. It’s daytime TV, right up there with “The Jerry Springer Show” and soap operas.

Please stop making me watch video clips of Rosie, Barbera, and the other fools on “The View.” HotAir is funny enough when dealing with real news.

Anton on December 11, 2006 at 5:57 PM

Too bad Michelle didn’t phrase her Vent in mock lesbian. It surely would have made O’Donnell’s radar. (I’d do it myself, but the point’s been made, and I’d be too graphic.)

It would be fun to see whose absolute moral authority rates higher, the offended Asian or the offended lesbian.

I think Vegas is giving 9 to 1 in favor of the lesbian.

DuffBeer on December 11, 2006 at 6:05 PM

Damned if I can make any sense of it.

I’ve noticed the same thing with say, Bill Maher’s or Jon Stewart’s or Margaret Cho’s audiences – they seem almost Pavlovian in their responses, like they’re not really listening to what’s being said but just waiting for breaks to begin cheering and applauding.

I’d swear that a lefty comedian/celebrity could go before a live audience and simply say, “Hickory dickory dock” or “The sky is blue” and the crowd would roil with laughter, no doubt thinking that they’re “in” on some anti-conservative or Bush-bashing joke that they don’t even understand but know just has to be funny.

Never mind if what’s being said is crude, unfunny, or transparently hate-filled. Just keep admiring the emperor’s new clothes and you, too can be “sophisticated.”

Notice how the audience roared with laughter (at least that is what is sounded like to me on this vent)?

Could Rosie be a….ASIOPHOBE?

Just wondering…..

BTW-Reflecting on the Justine Timberlake/Kelly Rippa hand situation….

After hearing Rosie’s racist “Ching-Chong” routine, I just wonder where Rosie’s MOUTH HAS BEEN.

The False Dervish on December 11, 2006 at 6:54 PM

As a gay black transexual man who believes in Reproductive Rights, in the Right to Choose (to have your baby dismembered by a professional abortionists, funded by the taxpayer), who believes in the United Nations as a wonderful organization and holder of the answers to poverty, disease, famine, drought, war, peace, the works, and as a person who is a leftist-liberal-democrat (these criteria give me moral superiority and carte blanche freedom to say and do whatever I wish and you cannot criticize me now or say anything mean about me, otherwise you are a homophobe, a racist, a bigot, a hater, and you want all women to get raped, to get pregnant, and you want to force women to have babies – Like Rosie with her “As a gay woman,” or “As a gay American” disclaimers before she says something crude, it also shows that I am better than you, to you cannot touch me. so THERE!), I have an opinion on Rosie O’Donnel’s ching chong ching chong episode and her subsequent words and behavior.

I was there when several black males engaged in a similar behavior, as the engaged in a show of disrespect toward my wife, who is Chinse, as she and our three children were entering the local YMCA for a swim (squeezed between swim team practice, which closes the pool to children, and closing time).

They did what Rosie did, spewing their phony Asian-Oriental vocalizations.

No, I did not like it and I did confront then on it. I think I should have just come out and told them that you were disrespectful to my wife and you are a bunch of idiots. I held my tongue and did not say that.

Nevertheless, they did not know anything. I spoke to them in Chinese – Cantonese, Toisan, and Mandarin, and a few other languages, and they did not understand a thing.

Idiots!

Just like the Queen of Mouths and Bullies, Rosie “As a Gay Woman” O’Donnel, self righteous, disrespectful leftist!

One thing – homosexual and lesbian behavior are deviant behaviors and disorders. Behavior such as that was once referred to more frequently for what it is, perverted.

Now, through pressure and a few decades of a PR campaign to demonize those who don’t “swing” with homosexuality, it has been raised to the level of praise and is rewarded. It also confers on those who are homosexual, a special dispensation from following the same ethics and respect of others that they demanded for themselves.

If homosexuals and their advocates wish to justify their deviant behavior by pointing to so-called homosexual behavior in animals, which also begs the question of the reality evolutionism, then these same people must also ask, animals kill their young, and even eat them. If that is natural, then humans should do it as well and not have a problem with it.

Also, if homosexuality is natural among animals and we should therefore confer on it moral equivalency to normal sexual behavior, then animals eat their extrement, rape other animals, and perform other outrageous, disgusting behavior. By the same logic that justifies homosexuality based on how animals might or might not act, then we should also behave like animals in other ways as well, eating our extrement and the extrement of others, raping, and even engaging in killing the children of the female we wish to mate with.

Next time you males have an interest in a woman who has children, be sure to rip her kids to shreds first before carrying on your affair with the woman. After all, animals do it!

We are supposed to be human beings with a higher level of behavior than the animals. People like Rosie are showing that you can behave however you wish, including showing disrespect for others, and it is not her problem, but those who are offended by it.

Loosen up!

And Rosie, you were wrong and you should admit that you were wrong, you behaved badly, you were disrespectful, and you should apologize, ask forgiveness, and do community service for the Asian-Oriental population to show your good will.

They are adept at behaving badly but diverting blame from themselves and onto others.

DaveS,

There is some truth on some level to what you are saying.

I don’t expect for one minute that anyone who posted here regarding Rosie O’Donnel’s behavior is losing sleep over this, or has run off to the Psychiatrist for some pharmaceuticals to help them make it through the day, or is seeking grief counseling over this.

I think most of us are having a bit of fun poking at the rather weak ground on which Rosie O’Donnel stands and how she, her supporters, and enablers just don’t give a rat’s behind about how they behave, or who they hurt.

Frankly, I do think Rosie was rather dumb in what she did, but I have seen and heard others do the same thing.

As I reported a few posts above, some black males did this to my wife and our small children as she walked passed them, talking at her with “ming chong ching chong wahoo ming chong ching chong” type BS.

Ha, ha, ha! How funny that these males have not learned to show respect for others, but think that they can just launch into mocking others. Clear racist behavior, not ifs, ands, or butts.

What are you going to do? Beat the crap out of them?

No. Why? Because they are allowed to be racist, and disrespectful toward my wife, based on her Asian ethnicity, but I am not allowed to knock their teeth out of their mouths and dislocate their shoulder or elbow joints because that would be against the law.

Rosie has a history of being moronic, disrespectful of others, having her own, different set of standards that she lives by, but by which others are not measured. She can condemn a person for their interest in owning guns or protecting the right to bear arms, while at the same time she thinks it is okay for her and her “children’s” body guard to carry a weapon.

Rosie can pull up the “I am going to say something outrageous, but I am a gay American, a gay woman” card, with her “As a gay woman,” or “As a gay American” disclaimer, which acts as a get out of responsibility for being disrespectful while she accuses someone of something statement, as she did when judging Kelly Ripa of being homophobic because Ripa did not want someone she did not know, or anyone for that matter, just forcibly placing his hand over Ripa’s mouth.

Now Rosie, who thinks she has the right to offend anyone she wants and get away with it, and, if you don’t get the “joke” then you just don’t understand, you don’t have a sense of humor.

Great!

My wife thought that what Rosie did was not a surprise. She said that Rosie is known for such behavior, and she is thought to be a comedian and often does stupid stuff like that.

In other words, my wife was not too upset about it, although she did say that she thought Rosie should not have done it. She said something to the effect of “What do you expect from these people? That is the way they are. People make fun of Chinese and Asian people in general all the time.”

That is a fact. Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc., are the brunt of jokes and disrespectful impersonations often among black and Hispanics, who usually get a free pass to do so.

No matter. Asians-Orientals outperform their condescending peers where it counts. Asians-Orientals score higher in SAT scores, in science, in mathematics, technology, etc., and they have higher entrance to graduation rates in college than blacks, Hispanics, and Caucasians. Asians-Orientals also have a higher family income than other ethnic groups.

So, let Rosie, racist leftists, blacks, Hispanics, etc., mock, these groups still come in last where it counts, and Asians-Orientals are laughing all the way to get their University degrees, their medical degrees, the medical license, their CEO position, the money in the bank, their new home, which they tend to qualify for in higher percentages than other groups – because they work hard, keep a good credit rating, get a good education, and good a good job and work hard.

In summation,

Rosie did what Rosie does. She was bullying, arrogant, condescending, and disrespectful and racist, and all the while she is supposed to be performing her “comic” shtick.

It has worn thin among many aside from her cult like followers.

Anyway, since the Rosie incident was there to talk about, I see no harm in us discussing, and commenting on it.

William,

I agree that Rosie deserves ridicule for the hypocrisy, provided that there are examples of her excoriating others for hate or intolerance based on cheesy jokes that play on ethnic stereotypes. In the absense of examples, though, everyone here is engaging in nothing more than an orgyistic (word?) attack on a strawman. Furthermore, many of those here aren’t outraged over the hypocrisy, but at the “racist” nature of her joke.

I don’t like Rosie, but I really don’t like seeing conservatives, who I normally consider the rational ones, engaging in mindless, Kos-like attacks.

DaveS,

Thanks for your comment.

I do not think it is hypocrisy that is the main idea. For me it is Rosie O’Donnel’s arrogance, self absorption, bullyish personality, how she writes herself a blank check based on her “as a gay woman” and similar clubs she assigns herself to in order to grant herself latitude and immunity from criticism and allow herself to have the bully pulpit with no contradiction from anyone.

She was arrogant and rude to Tom Sellek, a guest on her show. She laid heavily into him for his belief in the right to bear arms. She was seeking information to see how to get her body guard licensed to carry guns in New York.

Do as I do, not as I say.

She embraced Danny DiVito while he made a fool of himself on the View. No concern for his bad behavior. Just praise him as a wonderful drunk.

Now she puts her foot in her mouth with her ching chong ching chong shtick, unaware that that kid of material might offend someone. She does not want her own group to be offended, but she does not worry about offending others.

When her behavior is called into question, it is those who are offended who have the problem, because they just don’t understand. They just don’t “get it.” It is their problem, not hers.

Rosie was way out of line when she tossed rotten tomatoes, or was it diarrhea of the mouth, figuratively speaking, at Kelly Ripa as in accusing Kelly of being homophobic, or a homophobe, when Kelly took exception to Clay Aiken mushing his hand over Kelly’s mouth, a rude, disrespectful, and far from hygienic gesture.

This is a journey into P/C territory, an exploration, if you will. Let’s see and have some fun with P/C regarding someone who has been prosperous and become a hero of the P/C world. By P/C, I mean Political Correctness.

Also, in Michelle Malkin’s Vent she is addressing the fact that the Asian American organizations are offended by Rosie O’Donnel’s behavior.

As I said above, I have observed numerous people from the various special interest groups, blacks, Hispanics, homosexuals, etc., behave disrespectfully of others, attacking, mocking, stereotyping, and demonizing others. One of the chief recipients of leftist, liberal, black, and Hispanic arrogance, racism, and bigotry, is Asians-Orientals. I use both words hyphenated so that it is clear that I mean those from India, Pakistan, Shri Lanka, Nepal, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Okinawa, the works.

When I see the disrespect, the abuse of Asians-Orientals by people who are of the preferred, special interest groups-minorities, I reflect on how Asians-Orientals outperform their detractors-abusers.

I think that is one of the best forms of revenge. Laugh all the way to a happy, successful life, a strong family and family values, and a big, fat bank account, reflecting hard work and sacrifice that many others who want a handout, but won’t make the effort, yet mock hard working, humble, industrious, self sacrificing Asians.

In keeping with the theme of Asian-Oriental peoples,

Namaste.

There are plenty of whites who do the same thing as well as Asians who show disrespect to other ethnicities and races. There is no specific ethnicity that owns the higher moral ground. We have bad eggs in all groups – the important thing to realize is that in no group is it the majority of the people.

In my opinion if we don’t view the whole racial thing in this perspective we run the risk of justifying or condoning inappropriate comments or treatment toward others because of the actions of a few.

Understandable that if it happens to a loved one it is tougher to be philosophical about it. But the right thing is not always the easy path.
