Rosie’s rep to Asians: Get over it

Paraphrase: “Ching chong ching loosen up chong.”
Here’s the statement from the Asian-American Journalists Association. Follow the link there to Rosie’s blog, where she’s addressed the subject herself. (In free verse!)

Rosie not politically correct? Who knew!
ptolemy on December 9, 2006 at 1:34 PM
Two huge typos in that article:
“well-loved personality” and “a respected network”.
I’m sure they really meant to say, “over-hyped pussbag” and “a repulsive network”.
Glad I caught that and fixed it.
Parley on December 9, 2006 at 1:41 PM
Uh, I think it WAS meant to mock. No apology?
Another case of Liberals and “do as I say, not
as I do.”

I was thinking this morning about the brouhaha over Michael Richard’s use of a racial epitat compared with the silence following a US Senator using it several times on national television just a few years ago.
EF on December 9, 2006 at 2:03 PM
Hey what is the big deal. What do you expect from someone who was reared by a television set (no pun intended). Rosie can no more control what comes out of her mouth than what goes into it.
Theseus on December 9, 2006 at 2:04 PM
You know, I’m never really offended by anything. I’m not offended by Andrew Dice Clay. I’m not offended by tasteless Olive Garden commercials that mock my heritage. I’m not offended by Michael Richards going on racial rants. I think as Americans we have every right to act like morons, and we can all either laugh along or choose not to patronize that person, organization, or company pushing a racial line or stereotype.
That being said, nothing burns me up more than hypocrites. And that is what we’re dealing with here: hypocrite Rosie O’Donnell. One one hand, she’s so angry at a talk show host for possibly being homophobic. On the other hand she can openly mock a culture that makes up the largest percent of population on the world. She’s offended when her group is attacked, but can bash Chrisitians, conservatives, or anyone else openly.
It’s a disgrace, and we see it soo often in main stream media.
Vincenzo on December 9, 2006 at 2:12 PM
What the hell was that pic on the rosie blog? Did the photog interrupt rosie about to eat that baby??
I stand by my prediction… Rosie fired from the View by February.
Mazztek on December 9, 2006 at 2:20 PM
She has the gall 2 replies down on her blog to call someone else a racist.
p0s3r on December 9, 2006 at 2:28 PM
Well, then she won’t mind me walking up and down in the front row singing “Dyke of Earl” now will she?
bbz123 on December 9, 2006 at 3:02 PM
The normally reliable Allahpundit got it wrong here: That wasn’t free verse.
Maybe.
With Rosie, it’s hard to tell, as her way of responding to her fans’ love letters betrays a Lindsey Lohan-Level of illiteracy.
If you didn’t follow the AAJA’s link to Rosie’s blog, you missed out on some wonderful stuff:
Cathy writes:
they feed me
so did ur letter
thank u
JR writes:
real
Becky writes:
becky
love urself
Jessica writes:
i never learned 2 spell
it works 4 me
—————————————–
That was hard to scroll through, folks, but it was all worth it for “they feed me”.
Ace could get several hundred inches of blog fodder out of that line alone.
ccwbass on December 9, 2006 at 3:05 PM
So,if 80% of the 1/4 of American’s that are retarded are fans of Rosie, shouldn’t she be advertising for Xanex or something like that?
bbz123 on December 9, 2006 at 3:13 PM
Three blind mice……where the f%$* are they going?
Only Dice Clay line that I like.
quax1 on December 9, 2006 at 3:20 PM
Then you’re either an idiot who doesn’t know what the word “offended” means or you don’t care enough about anything in life, to a great enough degree. Why would you be “offended” at ANYTHING said by Andrew Dice Clay? You are obviously NOT THE DEMOGRAPHIC that Clay skewers with his comedy, he has a politically incorrect take on FEMININITY, dunce! Why WOULD you be “offended” at Michael Richards Racsit rant? From your name alone it’s a safe bet that you aren’t black, so you don’t really have a dog in this fight, do you? You seem dumb enough to think that because you are not a member of a group to which an offense has been delivered, there is therefore now NO OFFENSE. Seeing life with your head up your ass is dangerous. How about if Michael Richards said something about “WOPS” or “GUINNEAS” being the scum of the earth and we should kill them? Offended now? How about if Dice Clay said, ” VINCENZO’S A FAG and I have pictures to prove it”? Only a complete moron concludes that no offense exists when HE is not part of the group to which the offense was launched…
There are a lot of racists hiding out in the Conservative movement.
Soothsayer on December 9, 2006 at 3:24 PM
I think it’s safe to say that Rosie would not be missed by anyone if she left television for good. She is the most ignorant, loud mouthed moron I have ever seen. What she said about Asians was irresponsible. Her “humor,” if you want to call it that, is simply prepubescent.
dynospectrum on December 9, 2006 at 3:25 PM
No, i choose not to take offense of broad sterotyping in comedy and fiction.
You missed what I said about Olive Garden. I find their commercials stereotyping and in poor taste. I find plenty of art against Italians and Catholics in poor taste. I choose not to be “offended” though, as I can appreciate one’s right to say and portray as they deem fit.
That doesn’t change the fact that I won’t spend my money on any establishment, person, or entity that chooses to degrade others for no good reason. I won’t go eat in an Olive Garden(just pretend they had good food, it makes it a morty valid statement). I won’t watch Comedy Central(for the most part. hey, no one is perfect).
I can laugh at people making fun of my heritage or makeup. I’ve laughed hysterically at Kevin Smith’s movies, even at the jokes at Christianity. It doesn’t offend me, but I’m a devout Catholic.
I am however, annoyed at hypocrites.
I’m not sure where you drew that conclusion. Making an offense and being offended are two entirely different things
I did not come to that conclusion, or imply it.
Vincenzo on December 9, 2006 at 3:34 PM
Can we say now that Rosie OD is an “unrepentant bigot?”
We can add her to the Robert Byrd Memorial of Racists The Press Corps is Okay With.
Merovign on December 9, 2006 at 3:39 PM
Theseus: you got it right…and it would fit.
DoctorDentons on December 9, 2006 at 3:40 PM
And my son’s Chinese name is Ching. He’s in Hong Kong at the moment, so in his absence, I am thinking of being offended for him. I mean, it seems by watching Rosie’s example that one can be offended if one wants to be, but certain “minorities” are not capable of being offensive no matter WHAT they say, so what the heck. I’m gonna try it out. I’m a woman, so I should have at least a little bit of offended cred, right?
So, should I claim to be in high dudgeon? Lash out by insulting a group of which I am not a member? Criticize the rest of you philistines for not understanding my edgy sense of humor?
I’ve never done this sort of thing before, though, so please help me out here, guys.
Bob's Kid on December 9, 2006 at 3:48 PM
Perhaps we can put together a hierachy of “available outrage.” The higher you are on the list, the more outrage you are entitled to. You can also make fun of anyone on the list below you and not have to face criticism or the ire of the MSM.
-American-Indians
-Muslims (moved up the chart!)
-African-Americans
-Transvestites
-Homosexuals
-Latin Americans(not including Cubans)
-Females
-Jewish
-Catholic Female
-Caucasian Male
-Catholic Male
-Republican Male
-Republican Female
-George Bush
If i missed any group, let me know. Also, if you fall into more than one category, take the lower category, move up one space, and that is your hierachy level.
Vincenzo on December 9, 2006 at 3:56 PM
Excellent post, Vincenzo. I could not possibly have said it better myself. (And I won’t comment on Soothsayer’s embarrassing stupidity, because that would, undoubtedly, be taked as “offensive” to the mentally challenged …)
You are exactly right, Vincenzo. We are offended when we choose to be. One of the reasons I lean to the right and abhor the left is that liberalism is now devoid of humor and unable to laugh at themselves.
The only jokes that offend me are those that aren’t funny. I too am Catholic – but I thought “Dogma,” and other Keven Smith movies, were generally hilarious, so I was too busy laughing to be offended.
It is indeed the hypocrisy. For Rosie to spout out with “ching chong” babble is both remarkably unfunny (didn’t she once do comedy?) and breath-takingly hypocritical.
And THAT offends me. I hate hypocrites. (Something Soothsayer obviously misses … since he intentionally wrote the only explicitly offensive post on this thread. That, my friend, is hypocrisy.)
Great post, V. Thanks for my daily chuckle.

Wouldn’t she get all huffy and offended if I were to start making fun of fat, stupid, over-hyped talentless lesbians, I ask you!!
…oh….
…I already do…never mind.

So, Rosie (or at least her rep) believes that “they” (asians) are too dumb to grasp her humor? This counts as an apology? I’m sorry you asian people are too dumb as a race to understand a joke?
Interesting apology style; not likely to be effective, but interesting all the same.

I have never been able to stand watching “The View,” even before the arrival of that repulsive cow. It’s just a stupid format: “Look! We’re women — with our own TV show! Just for women!”
“The View” has always been geared to appeal to an audience of submorons. And the “fan mail” at Rosie’s blog just validates what I’ve always thought of the show and its audience.

If she can “ching chong ching” then I can “fat, ugly fat”.

At least Michael Richards was angry when he said what he said. I wonder if Gloria Scumofthescumlawyer is going to be representing Asians and asking for a sit down with a retired judge?
Tim Burton on December 9, 2006 at 10:44 PM
“I certainly hope that one day they will be able to grasp her humor.”
What humor??? Maybe on a cruise ship, but surely no where else.

Allow me to do a little “soothsaying” of my own. Our fair blogger, the “Soothsayer”, will one day wake up from his crack-indulged ignorance to discover what a complete moron he’s been his entire life. After spending a lifetime finding offense where none exists, uncovering hidden meanings behind the off-handed remarks of others (only to discover said ‘meanings’ were brought on by his own delusions), and attacking other people for no reason of logic whatsoever, he discovers everything he knew was a lie perpetrated by left-wing lunatics (like himself) and chooses to leap from that ledge he’s spent a lifetime teetering on the edge of.
Wake up Soothsayer! You’re living a total lie.
thedecider on December 10, 2006 at 12:11 AM
There’s a brief scene in the movie El Dorado (me referencing John Wayne movies–who’d have thunk it?), where a young James Caan “disguises” himself as a Chinese man, at least according to the racist Hollywood stereotype of the day. It makes me wince (and I’m not Asian), but at least the movie was made back in 1966. Rosie, poster child for the “tolerant” Left, did a very similar imitation in 2006, and wonders how anybody could dare to be offended. Imagine the scheisse storm if, say, Rush Limbaugh had made the same comment.
I think the Asian-American Journalists Association should just make a joke about stupid, unattractive, man-hating lesbians on their website, and tell Rosie to “get over it” if she doesn’t appreciate the “humor”.
ReubenJCogburn on December 10, 2006 at 1:13 AM

Vincenzo,
You forgot about the ever-popular blondes. We wouldn’t want to “offend” them, now would we? Nice job, V.

I take this to mean that the 11 yr old is smarter than Rosie. Either that or he’s just messin with her.
