Video: Racial sensitivity on The View

posted at 10:52 am on December 8, 2006 by Allahpundit

This from the woman who accused Kelly Ripa of being a bigot for not wanting a stranger’s hand on her mouth. I’m surprised she didn’t use her fingers to make her eyes look slanty.

It’s from Tuesday’s show; somehow we missed it. The clip picks up with them talking about the global media storm over l’affaire DeVito.

Thanks for the tip to TheThink, who’s probably reading a little too much into those Geico caveman commercials.

Update: Is Rosie leaving The View? Her eyes say no but her third chin says maybe.

It’s OK.
She’s a lesbian.
She has ultimate racial/sexual/moral authority.

Q. Who are Rosie O’Donnell, Danny DeVito and Joyless Behar?

JammieWearingFool on December 8, 2006 at 10:59 AM

Must have had some bad carpet.

Wade on December 8, 2006 at 11:03 AM

Rosie O’Donnell strikes me as that spoiled rotten college brat that everyone knew on campus but desperately avoided; her inflated ego arrives ten minutes before she does; and she no doubt secretly pays her lesbian friend to fake admiration for her as it is the only social contact she has in life… All that society owes her is pity. It would do well not to even grant her the notice her leftism craves; the best solution to the bigotry that Rosie O’Donell peddles is complete avoidance.

IntheNet on December 8, 2006 at 11:11 AM

Actually, I was hoping you would have picked up on the segment in which Joy showed a picture of her daughter and was talking about the wedding plans..think that flew with the Queen..heaven’s no…she interjects with weddings are uncomfortable for her as she can’t expirienceit..etc., and the look on Joy’s face was just priceless…I guess weddings are taboo, unless you are standing on the steps of the SF courthouse..

Nice.

I don’t see her as spoiled as much as I do a “I can top that” type..you know them..no matter what you say, they have it better or worse…

Have you noticed how her mother’s death,OCD, and her molestation are never brought up these days?

As a member of the Hot Air community, I would support a ban on any more videos from the View.

JackM on December 8, 2006 at 11:44 AM

All that society owes her is pity.

She’s been spouting off long enough now that we don’t even owe her that anymore. Unless by “pity” you mean “contempt.”

Dinsdale Piranha on December 8, 2006 at 11:48 AM

As a member of the Hot Air community, I would support a ban on any more videos from the View.

I’ve seen more of the View since I started reading this board than I had in my entire life prior. Now I remember why I don’t watch it (and this was pre-Rosie, btw).

Didn’t understand a single syllable that came out of her mouth, which makes that the most intelligent thing she has said.

LakeRuins on December 8, 2006 at 11:53 AM

For some reason, the View is on every time I am in a doctor’s waiting room. Words can’t express how much I hate that show.

Ellen on December 8, 2006 at 12:04 PM

Is there a way to pixelate her face and use a voice filter?

moonsbreath on December 8, 2006 at 12:08 PM

And then Rosie ching chong picked up Danny Devito, turned him upside down and put her mouth on his ching chong ching chong (I know, the election is over, but this cracks me up everytime).

All that society owes her is pity.

All that society owes to itself is her deportation to Iran. But then they would complain about us using WMDs.

Wade on December 8, 2006 at 12:20 PM

Sources have suggested that Rosie’s had a tough time fitting in at “The View,”…

…not fitting in? Did they move her chair closer to the desk? Have they considered buttering her middle? Serving low-fat doughnuts in the greenroom?

“…Ching-Chong-Danny-DeVito…Ching-Chong….”

Annie Coulter would’a done that, and they’d’ve crucified her. That’s the beauty of situational ethics…you can use ’em to excuse your *OWN* actions, and those of *YOUR* people, and turn around and slam your opponents for the same things you just did yourself.

Somebody needs to start a “lesbians are anti-asian” thread with this as evidence…it isn’t true, of course…but we could pull a whole-cloth slander job on the gay lobby…turn around is fair play….

Puritan1648 on December 8, 2006 at 12:22 PM

Unfortunately, the VIEW is the chicken coop that all the sheep herd around and listen to current events. And the sheep just nod in agreement. Bah-ah-ya-ya. Just a bunch of maroons leading the thoughtless little lambs.

USN6872 on December 8, 2006 at 12:22 PM

Rosie reminds me of Jabba the Hutt, only fatter and less believable.

Look on the bright side, Ellen. At least there is medical assistance standing by when you are forcefully exposed to this toxic crap.

Kid from Brooklyn on December 8, 2006 at 12:26 PM

I would have thought someone would have picked up the story that Rosie intends to stay on the “Spew”.

Don’t ban those videos. I enjoy seeing Rosie making a complete and utter jackass of herself. Besides everyone here comes up with some wonderful one-liners!

Entertainment at its best!!

kiakjones on December 8, 2006 at 12:36 PM

It’s okay, cuz Rosie is a comedian….just like Michael Richards is a comedian.

Mallard T. Drake on December 8, 2006 at 12:40 PM

Apparently (according to Rosie’s blog) it wasn’t her “intention” to mock. Right…

TheThink on December 8, 2006 at 12:52 PM

The double standard gives Rosie a pass, because she’s a lib. Just as Clinton and Kennedy’s sexual harassment of women is just peachy keen as long as they vote the way NOW wants them to vote.

And besides, Asians do than white people in school, so they aren’t victims of racism. That makes it OK to make fun of them, right?

The Monster on December 8, 2006 at 12:52 PM

I don’t particularly have a problem with that clip… in fact, it was the closest she has come to being funny in some time.

Are we pretending to be liberals now or something? Was I supposed to gin up a lot of fake outrage?

DaveS on December 8, 2006 at 12:53 PM

Apparently, it’s still okay to mock Asians.

Imagine she had say, mocked the “accent” or “language” of another minority group?

Malpaso on December 8, 2006 at 1:02 PM

Mel Gibson makes Anti-semitic remarks and is racked over the coals for it, .Michael”Kramer”Richard uses the “N”-word and is forced to grovel in front of Jesse Jackson and beg for forgiveness,Sen. George Allen uses the word “mecca” and the MSM uses it to defeat him on Nov-7 and now Rosie O’Donnell mocks Asians….now will the MSM treat O’Donnell like Gibson.Richard and Allen or will she be able to play the PC “Gay” card and get away with it?..Will ABC do anything since the Views ratings are so high now?…..My guess is she’ll get away with it because she already has before..she was allowed to drive the only black member of the View off the show with no outrage, she’s mocked and attacked Christians with no outrage in the past she told a Cancer survivor she hoped her cancer would come back and nothing happen so making fun of Asians won’t hurt her either….but you just have to know behind the scenes there must be a lot of fights over the 400lb diva.

mlong on December 8, 2006 at 1:02 PM

Sad that she didn’t day Japanese instead of Chinese…This is prime territory to launch the next great movie in a series sorely in need of new blood…Can you see the press release?

COMING SOON FROM TOHO…”Godzilla vs. Megamouth!”

And the head of the studio promises that unlike one of its earlier pairings…Godzilla (ever the crowd pleaser) will come out on top in both the Japanese and American versions . . .

Stick that in your chong, oh Queen of Nice . . .

Imagine she had say, mocked the “accent” or “language” of another minority group?

Yes, I mocked her too, but for the record, I don’t think she was “mocking” Chinese. She was (badly) trying to imitate it. It’s of course not a very sophisticated imitation, but both those words, “qing” and “chang” are real Chinese words, and what would you all say if you were trying to simulate Chinese? Rosie says/does enough other truly offensive things, that I don’t think it makes much sense to jump all over her about something like this.

tikvah on December 8, 2006 at 4:14 PM

It’s ok… she’s a liberal.

Yes, I mocked her too, but for the record, I don’t think she was “mocking” Chinese. She was (badly) trying to imitate it.

tikvah on December 8, 2006 at 4:14 PM

I agree. The clip didn’t make me jump up and say “Rosie is mocking Asian people.” More than anything it made me question Rosie’s acting chops….surely she could do a slightly better imitation of Chinese people speaking than that? Or maybe not.

The only ‘outrage’ (and, this would only be a 1 or 2 on my outrage meter) is the fact that everyone is o.k. with it. If it had been a conservative, they would have used it as evidence that the person is a big racist and, somehow, the person would have ended up donating to Jesse Jackson (I know, he’s not Chinese, but a race pimp’s gotta do what a race pimp’s gotta do). However, I don’t think you make the world more reasonable by immitating the people that are being unreasonable, so, I’m not even going to feign outrage.

As an American of Chinese descent, I’m offended. Somebody get me Gloria Allred’s number!

byteshredder on December 8, 2006 at 7:48 PM

Perhaps someone should mock a View discussion by replacing Rosie’s voice with the squealing of a pig. It’s certainly what I envision when I see her opening her mouth:

“Oink oink oink homophobe oink grunt snort Kelly Ripa oink oink I hate Bush oink oink The View oink snort oink.”

HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

OMG, Michelle….I think that’s the cattiest thing you’ve posted in quite some time.

Your visuals are hysterical.

The Ugly American on December 8, 2006 at 7:48 PM

Isn’t this the kind of video that gets on Drudge? I’ve sent this link to the site a few dozen times. Michelle, how about making a call to Drudge?

hashman on December 8, 2006 at 7:55 PM

So what? Liberals are racist, hypocritical liars?

Point being?

If I thought FOR A SECOND that there was the ability to get some traction and apply fair standards to this kind of behavior in the MSM, I’d be right behind it.

But there isn’t, at least until the Leftish stranglehold on the newsroom is broken.

Until that’s done, it’s enough to remind ourselves of the fact that liberals are racist, hypocritical liars.

And wasn’t it lovely how Rosie hijacked someone else’s family photos to showcase her agenda.

Giving Rosie a microphone is like giving a monkey a hammer after showing it a Bob Vila marathon.

Merovign on December 8, 2006 at 8:04 PM

KGB on December 9, 2006 at 3:43 PM

Hi KGB, i ran out of steam. My computer doesn’t actually have capabilities to type Chinese, and using freetranslation is too cumbersome, and they often don’t use the word that I want (like I wanted “hui jiang” Guo Yu, but they only gave me neng and shuo). I used to live in Taiwan too, about a year. Been back for over a year now. Where were you living? I lived in the countryside in Hualien county. Zai jian!

tikvah on December 9, 2006 at 5:26 PM
