The 3 WH pets are adorable. Never question what kind of dog anyone likes. Most are loyal and non-judgmental. Also, I believe Barney was a gift (from Christine Todd Whitman).

Barney should have licked Helen Thomas’ face. She would have had to finally say something nice, like “nice doggie” or “uh, doggie”. It’s kind of hard to say “Barney, get away you Palestinian-grief-causing-beast, you”.

I’d adopt a mutt from a pound and name it America. The sheeple dig that symbolic junk. ;)

I counted several groups of people that should be offended.

The top of the list is the handicapped. About 3 minutes in, notice how Barney closes off the handicap entraces to the white house for himself? Wuh? Are handicapped entrances only fit for dogs?!?! I’m offended :mad: ;)

Barney should’ve left a dookie on David Gregory’s seat in the new Press room.

Better yet, Barney should have left a thumbtack in sissy boy’s seat :)

Grew up with a Newfoundland that topped out at 170lbs. Great thing is, the Newf is bred to be a rescue dog, so they are as sweet as sugar.

We found an Irish Wolfhound wandering the streets once when I was 10. The dog was taller than me (when it was on all fours – enormous dogs!). We put it in our backyard until we could find the owner, and it stepped right over our fence (yes, stepped). We spotted the tiny, little lap dog it was running with, put it in the backyard, and the Wolfhound stepped right back over the fence. Another sweet dog! And yes, we did find the owner!

I’m also fond of Mastiffs, Great Danes, Saint Bernards, and Dauchsands (who doesn’t love those malformed little fellows).

I have no problem with Barney as “first dog”. He’s a cool little dude. I have small dogs (and big dogs). My Italian Greyhounds can hit 26mph jump 6 feet off the groound and can live up to 18 years. My boy Fisher has caught more than one bird right out of the air.

Ain’t a pit or akita on Earth that can catch my little “ankle biters”. And if they did, I would just release my full-sized Greyhound. Most loyal dogs on Earth.

If you dig far enough into those APBT attack stories you will find that the dog was abused. If you raise ‘em right you’ll have a loyal, loving companion that will play with your children and will lay down it’s life for you.

I can attest to this one. One of the nicest dogs I’ve ever seen was a neighbor’s pit bull.

I don’t know; I once got a VERY nasty little scratch on my left heel from my friends’ ShizTzu (sp). Hurt like the dickens for at least 3 minutes.

No, because a goofy little lapdog doesn’t do the same kind of damage a pit-bull or Akita does. Most of the lap-dogs I’ve met, if you put their personalities (capricious and mean) in a pit-bull or Rottweiler, there would be blood running in the streets of Beverly Hills.

You’re right about training being key, but my only point was about Akitas, Pit Bulls, etc. Yes, they can be trained to be as friendly as any other dog, but you never eliminate the fact that they are unpredictable animals, and my point was – do you ever hear about some goofy little lap dog flipping out and attacking someone? But you do with those other dogs.
