Is that why you smash you guitar on stage, out of muslim rage? Hey, they rhymed!
Tony737 on December 8, 2006 at 10:16 PM
The Mods and Rockers were once Sunnis and Shiites.
JammieWearingFool on December 8, 2006 at 10:25 PM
That Smothers Brothers clip is classic.
vcferlita on December 8, 2006 at 10:29 PM
Sigh, if only they’d just sing when they open their mouths. (making sure not to paraphrase Laura Ingraham book titles)
Spassvogel on December 8, 2006 at 10:30 PM
OMG, another casualty of the Libfest 60s and beyond.
What happened to the dying before you get old program,Petey?
bbz123 on December 8, 2006 at 10:30 PM
OK Pete. What
Ever.

I’m your wicked Uncle Ernie.
I’m glad you won’t see or hear me as I
fiddle about…
fiddle about…
fiddle about.
I love The Who, but this rocker checked out a while ago. With most of the others, unfortunately.
Good Lt on December 8, 2006 at 10:35 PM
30+ years on and that is still great stuff!
purpleslog on December 8, 2006 at 10:43 PM
Nice to see that Entwistle didn’t smash up his bass. He was the only sane one in the bunch, best player too.
infidel4life on December 8, 2006 at 10:44 PM
ge ge ge ge gee whiz, Pete, who cares? If you really want to spread peace and love, go peacefully fa fa fade away.
hillbillyjim on December 8, 2006 at 10:44 PM
Love that ol’ rock’n'roll, though.

Pedophilia?

Classic liberal anger and uncontrolled extreme leftist rage, you mean?
CyberCipher on December 8, 2006 at 10:50 PM
Well if I were Townsend I would not be toting that – being a former muslim – what a moonbat!
Layla Gonzalez on December 8, 2006 at 10:51 PM
Who?
ritethinker on December 8, 2006 at 10:51 PM
I had the occasion to meet and hang with Entwistle for several days in Mexico circa 1998, and met up with him again in New York before he died. The dude could party and he had about 20+ years on me. He had a place in Cabo San Lucas and was a serious deepsea fisherman.
His girlfriend was a live wire.
JammieWearingFool on December 8, 2006 at 10:52 PM
Nobody knows what it’s like, to be hated, like I do, and I blame you!
Tony737 on December 8, 2006 at 10:53 PM
Did you notice him backing away when Keith started kicking his drums off the riser?
I’m more partial to Geddy Lee, but Entwistle was damn good.
Dinsdale Piranha on December 8, 2006 at 10:57 PM
Reincarnation isn’t an Islamic belief, is it? I hear it’s all about death worship, martyrdom, fashionable belts, and raisins.
CliffHanger on December 8, 2006 at 11:09 PM
Well, That’s fine Pete.
I was a Crusader in a couple of past lives. So it all evens out in the long run.
LegendHasIt on December 8, 2006 at 11:24 PM
It was the Drugs Pete! What a piece of work, sheesh.
But on the other hand, he has NO excuse for his actions now1
R D on December 8, 2006 at 11:31 PM
Pete Townsend: I was THE CHINBALL WIZARD.
joeswampy on December 8, 2006 at 11:36 PM
Those old rockers so much remind me of my brother…he wasn’t famous but he did fancy himself a guitar player (no one else did, he is terrible) and has that same strung-out-used-too-much-dope-for-too-many-years look about him. And still has the long hair, too.
He could go on tour and aging stoners from the 70s would swear he’d been somebody back then.
Bob's Kid on December 8, 2006 at 11:40 PM
good post, ap.
jummy on December 8, 2006 at 11:40 PM
If Pete is right now about the reincarnation,
then he was wrong back then about Islam.
Tzetzes on December 8, 2006 at 11:43 PM
Maybe he could fill in for one of the Stones. One of them has to drop dead soon.
R D on December 8, 2006 at 11:54 PM
Of course, Islam is the new “Hindu”. I’m sure Pete’s antics disgusted me in a previous life as did his unclever excuse for downloading child pornography in this one. One night of window-pane too many, ‘eh Pete?
thedecider on December 8, 2006 at 11:59 PM

That boy just aint right.

Good thing Mo Townsend lived and died before Elton John outlawed religon.
“My childhood heroes were all in fact clueless.”
Don’t get me started about Springsteen.

You know, it’s amazing to me now, how many songs I liked in the 60’s and 70’s were protest songs that I didn’t even realize.
R D on December 9, 2006 at 1:18 AM
You know even the damned Jihadists have got to be saying “I know they’re useful idiots for our goal, but I can’t take it anymore I wanna kill them ALL!”
Defector01 on December 9, 2006 at 1:31 AM
I sang Turn Turn Turn in a band and later read that Pete Seger was essentially a KBG tool.
Buck Turgidson on December 9, 2006 at 1:41 AM
WHO cares? ;)
Good thing that he wasn’t a sufi when he was reincarnated, the Sharia woulda frowned upon all the nonsense HE’S gotten up to in his life this time.
Two words: Bloody Git
tickleddragon on December 9, 2006 at 1:54 AM
A Muslim in a previous life, and a pedophile in his present life… hurry up and die Pete, 3rd time’s a charm!
SilverStar830 on December 9, 2006 at 2:19 AM
The religious instinct is part of the human brain — when the “me” lights turn off and the “I am part of the whole — there is no I” lights turn on,” that is the religious feeling, however it’s manifested.
It’s entirely predictable that the moonbat left, whose current religions are environmentalism, activism, hedonism, narcissism, and I-Hate-You-Daddy-ism, will not only conspire with the enemies of the West, the radical Muslims, they will become them.
Think about the similarities between communism and Islam — shared property, “brothers,” and openly stated global hegemony as end-goal.
wordwarp on December 9, 2006 at 2:26 AM
I wrote a post on my site a couple of months ago about YouTube being a pedophile’s playground, but according to performancing the only people hitting it are looking up “underage girls” and are in Saudi Arabia.
I was skeeved until I realized it was just Pete Townshend.
Rob Taylor on December 9, 2006 at 2:32 AM
Imagine that…He must be the Imam in the well.
R D on December 9, 2006 at 2:43 AM
Isn’t he also the guy who claims he’s a woman trapped inside a man’s body?
He’s just a ‘claimer’.
Kevin M on December 9, 2006 at 2:51 AM
Encore! Ooops.
Wander on December 9, 2006 at 7:28 AM
Um, Pete? There was but one guitar smasher in The Who, a fellow by the name of Pete. And the drum smashing followed the guitar smashers lead. If the group had that reputation, they got it from you.
Actually, there is something especially Islamic about that sentence. Religion of violent peace, dontcha know.
infidel4life,
While The Ox was a hell of a bass player, Keith Moon was revolutionary. Nutty as a squirrel turd, yeah, but the guy was a savant behind the drum kit.

I think Frank Zappa said it best: “Shut up and play yer guitar.”
Farmer_Joe on December 9, 2006 at 8:46 AM
Oh, also? I’m pretty sure muslims don’t believe in reincarnation. So there.
Farmer_Joe on December 9, 2006 at 8:47 AM
Every guitar I smash is a conflict-free guitar.

Buck Turgidson on December 9, 2006 at 10:07 AM
Let me tell you now …….. Who are you …… cuckoo … cuckoo.
I wonder if Towsend was a muslim 900 years ago, 400 years ago or 100 years ago? Not that it matters. Nothing has changed in the muslim culture within the last millennium.

As a teenager in the seventies rock and roll was a means of rebellion against that which we ultimately knew would protect us. Jimmy Carter for example.
Wait… we really were screwed. (Smashes guitar.)
Buck Turgidson on December 9, 2006 at 11:26 AM
Me too, exactly! Hell, I really didn’t listen to the words. No wonder my parents didn’t like rock.
shooter on December 9, 2006 at 11:41 AM
He may have been a Muslim in a previous life, but he’s an idiot in this one.
student on December 9, 2006 at 11:59 AM
I heard or read PT explain where the “windmill” came from. He said that he saw Keith Richards first do it. PT said that the Stones would be on stage with the curtain drawn and Richards would have his arm in the air to cue the band. As soon as the Stones were announced and they started to draw the curtains, Richards would windmill his arm to strike up the band. PT thought that was pretty cool and incorporated it into his antics.
So if windmilling his arms is some Islamic ritual, then Keith Richards is a reincarnated muslim also, I guess.

Joe on December 9, 2006 at 1:18 PM
Oh, so what are you now, Pete? A Wackjob??
Mazztek on December 9, 2006 at 2:21 PM
There’s more symbolism in that clip than the Abbey Road album cover.
Apparently, “I hope I die before I get old” is a wish for martyrdom. Plus, Allah is the moon-god, and there is a Moon center stage above the other band members.
But seriously, the Who is one case where I have to ignore any moonbattery, because they are a great band. Entwhistle is great on the bass, and I love his songs too – they’re very humerous and witty (except “When I Was a Boy,” but it’s great too.)
Coyote D. on December 9, 2006 at 2:26 PM
All the talk about the Who and no mention of Roger Daltrey. He had a good series “Extreme History with Roger Daltrey”.
jdkchem on December 9, 2006 at 2:47 PM
There is a fine line between genius and insanity.
Townshend can’t see that line from where he is.
But he can see the line between Insanity and Desolation!
Merovign on December 9, 2006 at 3:30 PM
“Southcoast police believe that if the violence between rival gangs of Mods and Rockers continues, a study group will have to be formed to initiate a multilateral peace process…”

Well if the websites Pete visits have anything at all to do with it he’s certainly got a lot in common with the prophet mohommed!
Fiddle all about…
Fiddle all about…
Fiddle about!

If we’re talking techinally, I agree with you. If we’re talking creativity, I have to go with Moonie.
Metro on December 10, 2006 at 11:47 AM
Venmax brings up a good point. Townshend caught with child porn. And how hold was Muhammad’s last wife, 9 years old?
But Who knows what is really going on with this. Townshend is pretty well know for his open faced lies.

I think that windmilling was a memory of the joy of beheading girls who were raped by her brothers.

Dear Pete,
I believe you were a Muslim in a previous life. I also believe you are a Muslim in this life. Why not just go outside and kill yourself and you can be a Muslim for eternity?
