That was about creepy. Thanks.

“Slow December Thursday.” Cripes, it wasn’t THAT slow. Step away from the keyboard and go for a walk.

Scotsman on December 8, 2006 at 12:08 AM

Chilling. Did I recognize some of those handles from the HotAir blog site?

Naah! Couldn’t be.

CyberCipher on December 8, 2006 at 12:11 AM

“You wouldn’t, ummm by any chance be Slappy Sue?”

Is “The Parlor” a lefty room?

infidel on December 8, 2006 at 12:13 AM

Where did you dig that sleazefest up?

Good Lt on December 8, 2006 at 12:13 AM

That was both hilarious and disturbing…. Lol, “slappy sue”?

RightWinged on December 8, 2006 at 12:13 AM

CyberCipher on December 8, 2006 at 12:11 AM

Dude, that’s actually a great spin-off idea. We should totally make one of these movies with characters for TheDrifter, honora, gregh, etc.

RightWinged on December 8, 2006 at 12:15 AM

Probably from Jawa Report. Or AoS.

j/k.

:-)

Oh, emoticons/codespeak, how I love thee. Let me count the ways….

Good Lt on December 8, 2006 at 12:16 AM

Oh wow, this is old school. Been around several years and I thought I lost it forever as I could not remember the name of it. Great find Alah.

zerodamage on December 8, 2006 at 12:21 AM

phew. i thought it was going to be another of those bad short subject films premised on group therapy.

jummy on December 8, 2006 at 12:25 AM

I can’t beleive I watched that sh—t…..Three times.

Kidding. I could only take about 2 minutes of it.

Texyank on December 8, 2006 at 12:27 AM

(stunned silence)

Wow. Sheesh.

PaisleyCow on December 8, 2006 at 12:29 AM

I’ve seen this before. I forget where, though. Has anyone else seen this and remember where it’s from?

Ian on December 8, 2006 at 12:30 AM

My sides hurt!! lol

RightWinged on December 8, 2006 at 12:15 AM

You’ve completely left out our favorite: Grebrook.

thedecider on December 8, 2006 at 12:37 AM

Really, I have to give credit to the cleverness of the writer(s) of that short story. People in a chat room shown as they really are, but not what the other bloggers think they are. Makes you wonder about us, doesn’t it? Thanks Allah. You’ve completely disturbed all of us.

thedecider on December 8, 2006 at 12:42 AM

Good grief – that is creepy – and well done.

Creepy, though.

Dr. Gecko on December 8, 2006 at 12:45 AM

LMFAO! Good stuff!

Scot on December 8, 2006 at 12:56 AM

I’m not so worried about the true identity of Grebrook, or honora, or JaHerer22, or about any of the rest of you folks that frequently post their comments here. The one that I’m really beginning to wonder about is AP. Where does he get all of this stuff? It’s sort of like discovering that “Slappy Sue” is running the HotAir web site that you thought that you knew and loved.

CyberCipher on December 8, 2006 at 1:03 AM

I think Allah was trying to tell us something, and i think i know what that something is. So without further adu, i give you AllahPundit.

Scot on December 8, 2006 at 1:09 AM

That was…slightly disturbing. Reminds me of the old saying: “Nobody knows anybody on the Internet.”

ReubenJCogburn on December 8, 2006 at 1:10 AM

Just kidding Allah!

Scot on December 8, 2006 at 1:11 AM

Why did you post this AP?

Babs on December 8, 2006 at 1:12 AM

That’s depressing.

Other than the little plot twist at the end, I rather imagine that it is a pretty accurate representation of what the people in a typical general chat room are in reality.

Pretty well written and acted though.

LegendHasIt on December 8, 2006 at 1:22 AM

The Parlor
Really, really deceptively mis-titled.
Shoulda been Bambi: The Inner-inner Inner Deb Frisch

Stephen M on December 8, 2006 at 1:43 AM

Ian, could it be this?

Entelechy on December 8, 2006 at 1:52 AM

That is so disturbing but so freakin’ hilarious…oh my gosh.

emmaline1138 on December 8, 2006 at 2:18 AM

That was the funniest shit I’ve seen in a long time.

spmat on December 8, 2006 at 2:28 AM

Terminally creepy, if only because I swear I’ve witnessed that conversation in a chat room back in the 90s and made pretty much the same assumptions about who the REAL people behind the nicknames was!

Everybody knows that anyone called “Sexy16Honee” is a balding 40-year-old man.

Merovign on December 8, 2006 at 3:02 AM

I’m actually a hot bisexual blonde 15-year-old cheerleader. I only act like a raving right-wing lunatic in the blogosphere, because it’s a great way to meet guys. And girls. And guys. And girls. …

Ali-Bubba on December 8, 2006 at 3:48 AM

what the hell is this?

Let me confess. I am 15 year old girl. I am afraid of being called a conservative. I joined Hot Air because I have the hots for Allah.

Behind all these writing are numerous faces that we cannot decipher. As Snoop Dogg said, “That’s that.”

Ouabam on December 8, 2006 at 4:16 AM

PM ME. I promise, the Dateline NBC guy isn’t sitting in the chair next to me.

RightWinged on December 8, 2006 at 5:06 AM

That was pretty gross.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Jaibones on December 8, 2006 at 7:48 AM

Ian, could it be this?

Entelechy on December 8, 2006 at 1:52 AM

Ah, written by Alan Ball, the guy who did Six Feet Under and American Beauty. That explains the clevery/quirky/creepy/hilarious all at once thing.

I wouldn’t want to live in his head but it’s a fun place to visit.

Pablo on December 8, 2006 at 8:11 AM

But, what’s a homosexual?

lazerua on December 8, 2006 at 8:15 AM

Well, that can’t be any of us. We all have our advanced degrees and are semi-retired, living off the money we made in the stock market or turning around a major corporation. We have all are or have been invlolved with (check one or more)
a)important political campaign
b)multi-national company as an executive
c)working on our advanced degree (usually in whatever the thread is)
d)private religious school(usually Catholic)
e)ex military (bonus for seeing action)
f)a past democrat
g)a present democrat who is so lonely, the only ones who give you attention is a conservative site
h)a person that is “well connected”
i)a professor
I know, just ask us, we will tell you our background.

right2bright on December 8, 2006 at 8:19 AM

Okay, I know who I am, but who are you?

TwinkietheKid on December 8, 2006 at 9:08 AM

Can someone please explain to me why it’s ok to use kids in a video like this, but everyone got their underwear in a knot over that little girl in the video the other day screaming about the Republicans? Because I can’t remember her saying or listening to anything about anything being shoved anywhere or doing anything “Doggie Style”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I really don’t see the need for this type of material on this site. Or am I alone here?????

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on December 8, 2006 at 9:21 AM

Ok you got me. I’m really a Catholic-Buddist Ok. There I said it. Finally I can be myself. Thanks Allah.

Limerick on December 8, 2006 at 9:31 AM

Okay, I know who I am, but who are you?

TwinkietheKid on December 8, 2006 at 9:08 AM

That’s the point, it doesn’t matter because it can’t be confirmed.

right2bright on December 8, 2006 at 10:07 AM

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on December 8, 2006 at 9:21 AM

I enjoy the diversity.

Those “kids” on the video were probably 20+ years old. A big difference between 8 years old and 18 years old.

right2bright on December 8, 2006 at 10:10 AM

OK, that’s minutes of my life I won’t get back……

Sorry folks, that was creepy, WAY creepy; just EEWWWW!

Of course, it reminded me of why I no longer use Yahoo Chatrooms…

Lonevoice on December 8, 2006 at 10:40 AM

Mildly amusing, majorly disturbing. AP, you need a hobby if you’re that bored.

dalewalt on December 8, 2006 at 11:47 AM

After watching that I feel an overwhelming desire to wash myself with a wire brush and bleach, but that’s probably just the narrow-minded homophobe in me.

dostrick on December 8, 2006 at 1:05 PM

Creepy and disturbing. Short of reminded me of the sconce from “Clerks II” — when the donkey show was happening and the lady lead said something like she was sickened and yet amazed at what she was seeing.

Wuptdo on December 8, 2006 at 1:07 PM

As a father of girls, it’s very disturbing that the only one who was who she said she was was the young girl. Gross.

Reminds me of my days on the DU. Everyone on there was an expert something. And they all knew more theology than every Christian they ever met.

jdpaz on December 8, 2006 at 1:56 PM

I thought it was quite good, myself. A valid and rather witty warning on the dangers of taking net personalities at face (nyuck, nyuck) value. Personally, I think it’s kind of fun to do just that and then look for evidence that they are NOT what they say they are. That is, I did before I gave up chatting… With posting, there are too many folks ready to wave the bullshit flag if you make a mistake, so I think there may be a modicum of honesty in this forum. Still and all, I enjoyed the satire and if AP wants to post more of it’s kind, I will certainly watch.

BTW, after the camera cut: mutual coming out, ass beating, or teary fleeing from the apartment? Odds, anyone?

Militant Bibliophile on December 8, 2006 at 5:44 PM

Conflict-free diamonds?!
(Homer – “Hired goons?”)

Oh, I mean, ewwwwww!
Still, tough as it was to watch, it was an excellent short production. Had that guy from Office Space.

Great analogy of a chatroom vs. real life. Did AP play the cop? :O

Coronagold on December 8, 2006 at 6:31 PM

Conflict-free diamonds?!

Oh, I mean, ewwwwww!

Still it’s a very well done short production. Even had that guy from Office Space.

Great analogy of an online chat room. Was AP the cop? :O

Coronagold on December 8, 2006 at 6:34 PM

Damn, not again. Please delete this and last ^ post. I hate it when the internet farts.
