There, I tightened that up for you as**hole. May you die painfully and soon.

Pablo on December 7, 2006 at 12:10 PM

Heh.

Gotta tell you, boys, I'm in a mood. Sounds like Pablo is, too. Just enough Pinot tonight, and I'd just as soon spit on the Iraq Surrender Group as read 'em. Bunch of f-ing DC lawyers and 14 term congressmen that should all be strip-searched, beaten, and jailed. Sell off their assets to put dead veterans' kids through college.

Cancel their pensions in defense of the national debt.

James Baker, senior law partner of Baker-Botts law firm. The law firm that is representing Saudi Arabia to protect them against lawsuits from victims families of 9/11.
...
more here

[shooter] What the f.. is going on?

Nothing much. Baker's just closing out his short position, nothing more.

Which brings me to another resolution: from now on I'm calling him Abu Baker. (The other guy can write his name 'Abu Bakr' but not ol' Jim...)

And there is this:

James Baker, senior law partner of Baker-Botts law firm. The law firm that is representing Saudi Arabia to protect them against lawsuits from victims families of 9/11.

The basis for the defense? Cries of racism. The motion (for the defense)attacked the 9-11 lawsuit as a “broadside indictment of Saudi government, religion and culture.” The Baker-Botts team also filed the motion under the pretense that as a “third-ranking official of a foreign government,” the government of Saudi Arabia is immune to prosecution from the U.S.

The lawsuit claims that Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz funneled money to terrorist organizations, including al Qaeda, but the Baker-Botts team has countered saying that he can’t be sued by Americans because as an official act of the Saudi government, the Sultan funneled the money under official circumstances for the government, and the Saudi government is immune to U.S prosecution.

No surprises here. I say we arm all the Iraqi's and leave. Let them kill war and terrorize each other. When the dust settles maybe we will have a leader with the balls to straighten out the mess. Even a leader would be nice. I have backed Bush for 6 years and I am done with him. He has abandoned the Republican Party and his Texas values. We need a leader and it is not him. Bush has let the enemy within win.

The jihadis are like burglars who get injured during a break-in and then sue the homeowner.

In the 1930's or '40's or '50's or even 1960's such a lawsuit would have just made any judge laugh and recommend a psychiatric evaluation of the prisoner.

Nowadays, our legal system is more intent on cutting its own society's throat -for some Rousseian/Utopian vision of perfect justice for the "noble savage" (nee crook)- and actually allow such suits to proceed.

Until we start laughing at the "victim" claims of the attacking jihadis and judiciously crush them, we lose.

Oooooo! As long as we're being gruesome, why don't we bring pig and dog blood and excrement to all our battles and spray it on all the terrorsits corpses! Then all those jihadists will have a much harder time getting into their "paradise" covered in that revolting cocktail.

Oh, and jman, you have a sick mind. See someone m8, really.

I'd also wrap the bombers remains in pigskin.

Seriously -

What is sick is that this is exactly what the insurgents are doing and are still winning the media war, even in our own country. They are deliberatly mudering the innocent because they know we care about them and it will sway public opinion against the war.

The fact that we can respond with equal brutality is prolonging this war. We have the power, but not the will to end it.

...it's a strategic thaaaaaaaaaang...sort of.

You take a trip in stages. Along the way you set up expected markers, to let you know which stage of the trip you're in. You don't take the operation as a whole, but ratehr break it down into manageable steps, the better to delegate authority (always retaining responsibility).

When you cross phaseline bravo, you're on your way to phaseline charlie. If you should be at phaseline golf or india or x-ray, you know that something's wrong.

Gimme a J
gimme a I
gimme a H - A - D - I

Push em back, push em back, harder, harder. Throw the bomb or an IED down field and hope they intercept it.

It's the Taliban Theological & Incendiary University's latest cheer as those beauties in burkhas lead their jihadi team against the Kafir Kollege gridiron group.

Kafir Kollege has been struggling on the field and has introduced a new ISG playbook with some untested plays. John Madden claims to have seen some of the plays and has noted "Jeez, this ISG playbook predates Knute Rockne's time at Notre Dame; they don't even have a forward pass in there"

We’re winning in Iraq with our current strategy (strategy, not tactics, which change all the time), and we should continue the strategy. -- Jason

...now, *HERE* is something worth remembering.

1) That you win wars by strategy. That is, the goals and phaselines to those goals.

2) That tactics can and do change, depending on the situation. That is, tactics being the ways you implement strategy.

3) If you treat a strategy the same way you treat a tactic, people become confused, allies begin to question your sanity and your commitment, and your enemies are emboldened.

It is absolutely a disastrous plan. We're winning in Iraq with our current strategy (strategy, not tactics, which change all the time), and we should continue the strategy.

I've read the report and didn't see an argument for why we're losing. The only place I see us losing is here in the American media, and fewer and fewer of us in the military care what they think.

Jihadis value death more than life, they’ve said so many times

This may be true for themselves, but they do value the life of their families. If the families of the suicide bombers were wiped out after a bombing, then we would see the bombings almost stop. I'll even bet that the mothers so eager to send their children off to die would not be so eager if they knew that their turn would be next.

The above is purly hypothetical as it would (and should?) never happen, but it would probably work.

Hitchens used a line recently in describing recent US Middle East policy, possibly quoting someone else, that went something like “the US is now a meek enemy and a treacherous friend.” Seems to fit certain policy wonks (ISG) quite snugly. -- cms

...I can imagine The Quotable Hitch saying something like this...it's true.

After Vietnam, it was much the same. The "paper tiger" had had his a$$ handed to him (it was said)...even though he'd never lost a major (or may minor) battles. He'd been undercut and sold out by the press and politicians.

I served in the military that had to deal with post-Vietnam morale and realities. It wasn't pretty. It didn't get better for *YEARS*.

In fact, it took a Ronald Reagan to put things to rights.

I don't see any Ronald Reagans on the horizon, so I think that the ignominy of *THIS* goat-scr*wing will last for a while.
