Typical spoiled Hollywood brat.
Perhaps she should go live in Pakistan – I hear they have very interesting dinner conversations there. That is if you can keep your head…..
CrazyFool on December 6, 2006 at 9:10 AM
There must be something to what she says because the current shots of her in London, she is far more beautiful than the older shots. She looked like MM in a blond wig. SIZZLE!
Wade on December 6, 2006 at 9:14 AM
It’s no wonder Gwynnie doesn’t like Americans, she’s the only one she spends any time with. What is really funny to me is that she and so many other US ex-pats simply never consider that their comments provided openly to media overseas will be reported in the US.
Of course, most Hollywood types don’t read, and can’t write.
doufree on December 6, 2006 at 9:14 AM
Paltrow has always been milquetoast. I never understood the hub-bub over her.
Michelle looks great as a blonde–but I prefer her as a brunette! BTW–best vent ever!
robblefarian on December 6, 2006 at 9:17 AM
She prefers Europe over America? Fine, let her stay there. That just means there’ll be more room on the roads for my V8-powered pickup. Hmm, maybe I’ll go get an Expedition to celebrate!
dalewalt on December 6, 2006 at 9:17 AM
I’m sorry, Michelle, but the blonde look just doesn’t work for you.

E L Frederick (Sniper One) on December 6, 2006 at 9:20 AM
Excellent, Michelle, EXCELLENT!
You and Bryan did a great job, here.
If Gwyneth hates the capitalist atmosphere that America has, then why does she accept millions for her movies? Should not COMRADE Gwyneth do her films for free? Instead of attenting dinner parties in Great Britian, shouldn’t she be in a high poverty, crime infested area and living in delapidated conditions, and serving dinner to the hungry and homeless in soup kitchens?
Just wondering….
BTW-Michelle, nice touch with the blonde wig, but you are definately more ravishing and more sultry as a brunette!
DO NOT MESS WITH PERFECTION!
The False Dervish on December 6, 2006 at 9:20 AM
Michelle,
That was great! Hil-freakin-larious! Worthy to be enshrined next to your Cindy Sheehan performance.
Paltrow joins the growing list of Hollywood actors that are provided an unbelievably inflated standard of living by America and then spit in its face.
They’re like spoiled children that ask their parents for money on Friday and spend the rest of the weekend and following week saying how much they hate them. Then on Friday they come back with their hands open.
At least Johnny Depp had the decency to leave America although his entire lifestyle is still primarily provided by America.
Losers!

Once was okay, but pleeeaase, no more cheap blonde wigs. Ugh.

Gwywnni is lost in her own dream world. Put her in a burka and send her over where her words mean nothing, same as they do here. She is losing whatever she though she had and fast. The snob………..

Bravo! An Oscar-worthy performance, Michelle. And never mind the critics; you look great as a blonde.
Aldo on December 6, 2006 at 9:32 AM
Gwynneth is an actress with aristocratic pretensions. Sniffing about how uncultured Americans are, and how discussions of money are beneath her is unpersuasive, and is nothing more than a laughable attempt to ingratiate herself with the Eurotrash.
As to the relative intelligence of Americans and (what’s left of the) Europeons, I dare say that Gwynnie’s flight from the US to England raised the IQ level of both countries.
morganfrost on December 6, 2006 at 9:35 AM
WHO? Gwyneth? WHO? Go drink another cup of tea and raise your nose. Any chance of getting her a front row seat for the start of a soccer riot? Or does that only happen in America?
My God!
Totally 100% agree with both.
My God!
Sarcasm, It’s what for dinner!
VikingGoneWild on December 6, 2006 at 9:37 AM
I think Gwinni’s best film was “Sliding Doors“. However I think it was great because of John Hannah, and not her.
There is a dinner scene, where the entire time is spent reciting Monty Python bits. Perhaps that’s the type dinner conversation that Gwinni prefers.
E L Frederick (Sniper One) on December 6, 2006 at 9:39 AM
Haha, good stuff…I am not shocked by the things people from Hollywood say anymore…it must be nice to sit on high and look down on us strange little patriotic Americans.

BTW…I liked the blond look on you Michelle! Can’t wait to see you wear it next time you are on FOX. !!

Michelle is too smart for Hollywood. She can actually put a coherent sentence and argument together without the need for a member of the screenwriter’s guild.

I don’t begrudge famous and non-famous people if they want to leave this country and live somewhere else. It’s their right to leave if they so choose. I know that not everyone is happy here, but don’t move to another country in a shallow attempt to shame the rest of us. People like Paltrow, Madonna, and others just look like complete fools when they turn around and play the “It’s so much better here, unlike *there*…” game. If you want to live elsewhere, then just go. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, be civil and keep the snide comments to yourself. If you’re unhappy with the way things are in the US, then stay, vote like you actually mean it, and do something to make a true difference, even if it’s just helping carry an old lady’s groceries to her car. Running away because you “can’t stand it anymore” is cowardice, childish, and stupid. But, that’s never stopped famous people before.
DakRoland on December 6, 2006 at 10:15 AM
Gwinny is being so mistreated! You see, in order for her to keep that innocent, doe-eyed look, for her entire life her manager, her agent, her attorney and all have been telling her that all those millions she’s received have been “love offerings”, not any part of that icky American capitalism.
Gwyneth is just an innocent victim here. Back off meanies.

Bravo…I would love to see the behind the scenes footage for this vent…I couldn’t keep a straight face. I find it amusing that Paltroon finds the UK so superior…they are wallowing in self hatred for their country..and are dying out. How will Gwynnie like it when sharia law starts popping up there? Will music boy stuff her in a bejeweled burka? Britain had better find their national pride soon or they’re going to start having the same trouble as france. We’re not far away from that either. On lighter note, Michelle, you even make blonde look good but I think the natural look suits you. Great vent..thanks again.
austinnelly on December 6, 2006 at 10:27 AM
Was it intentional that the last pic of gwynnie departed stage right/viewer left?
Just one of the ‘technical thingies’ I remember from being on stage crew during college.
allie on December 6, 2006 at 10:39 AM
I found myself a little embarrassed for enjoying this Vent as much as I did! Michelle in blonde wig was a stroke of genius!
I don’t know what happened to Paltrow. Before she met her Brit husband and moved there, she had a sterling reputation as being bright, down-to-earth, and serious (the anti-Lindsay Lohan). What a shame. Maybe she had the same publicist that Tom Cruise had before Cruise fired her and then everybody realized he was a lunatic.
asc85 on December 6, 2006 at 10:47 AM
So she likes Britian better and she decided to move there with her British husband…big deal. Someone asked her which county she liked better and she gave an honest answer. What’s the story? She’s not required to love America or Americans, she can do and think want she wants. Patriotism is one thing; vilifying those who don’t share you’re uber-patriotic spirit is pointless.
JaHerer22 on December 6, 2006 at 10:55 AM
And now they’re telling her that those stupid flyover redneck morons aren’t going to go see her movies if they can’t stand her, so she’d better throw them a bone and start claiming victimhood.
Pablo on December 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM
JaHerer22, you understand what a public figure is right? Do you think she’s somehow more entitled to express her opinions about her fellow Americans than we are to express ours of her?
Pablo on December 6, 2006 at 11:01 AM
“Uber-patriotic”, JaHerer22? I doubt you mean it as a compliment, but I take it as one. Has a nice ring to it. UBER-PATRIOTS UNITE!
Aldo on December 6, 2006 at 11:10 AM
Fun Vent Michelle!
Your presentation was more entertaining and of interest than the subject. (Gweneth who?)
There are so many that gain wealth by sales in the United States, especially in the entertainment industry, and then take the attitude you have described that this has become common.
I particularly liked the following post in this thread:
Gwynneth is an actress with aristocratic pretensions. Sniffing about how uncultured Americans are, and how discussions of money are beneath her is unpersuasive, and is nothing more than a laughable attempt to ingratiate herself with the Eurotrash.
As to the relative intelligence of Americans and (what’s left of the) Europeons, I dare say that Gwynnie’s flight from the US to England raised the IQ level of both countries.

PAPA BEAR on December 6, 2006 at 11:23 AM
I understand completely and I think both you and Gwyneth have every right in the world to express any opinion you want. Say want ever you want about her, I’m not trying to stop you. My point is when you demonize people like Sheenan and Michael Moore for anti-Americanism you have a valid point. They both make absurd anti-American statements for no other reason than to garner publicity. Gwyneth on the other hand simply states she like Britain better and gives the reasons why. She’s not doing it for publicity or to advance a political cause; she’s doing it because reporters asked her and she was honest. Say what you want about her, I just think by claiming she is anti-American you make yourself look silly; then when you make valid claims of anti-Americanism you will have no creditabilty…I’m just looking out for you.
I didn’t mean it as a compliment or insult, just a statement of fact…I try not to judge. But if you take it as a compliment then you’re welcome.
JaHerer22 on December 6, 2006 at 11:28 AM
I guess I have to add another name to my list…I haven’t bought a movie ticket to see Jane Fonda since, well, since I was born because I was properly raised…now I will forego seeing Danny Devito and Gwynneth Paltrow movies at the theatre as well. And I am not alone, lots of my pals “boycott” the moonbat brigade.

infidel4life on December 6, 2006 at 11:30 AM
Uh, she IS anti-American, she says so herself (up until the backlash hits her) and she’s clearly explained her reasons for being so. What part of that did you not get?
Pablo on December 6, 2006 at 11:41 AM

Okay, Michelle, I’ll let you “get by” with wearing that blond wig just this once. But if you stop wearing your underwear (like Britney Spears) THAT’S IT. I’m OUTTA here.
CyberCipher on December 6, 2006 at 12:02 PM
Some may not agree with the indignation felt by Americans when belittled by someone they have patronized and has experienced financial gain as a result.
The issue may not be as much an individual’s personal taste for the company they keep, or the reasons for it, but rather the meaning in “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.
Many Americans, who take great pride in their association with this country and it’s accomplishments, feel personally insulted when their patriotism and values are disparaged by someone who has gained from their patronage.
Public persona who have gained their status by American patronage, and then use their status to attempt to influence opinion and policy contrary to the interests of the United States, are particularly offensive to many Americans.
The sooner those in the entertainment industry “get it” their sales and profitability will improve. The drama with Sumner Redstone and Tom Cruise is an example.
In short, when entertainment industry performers understand that “Shut up and sing” means we wish to view their art, but take offense when they use their status gained by virtue of our patronage to denegrate our persons and culture, the better off we all will be.
omegaram on December 6, 2006 at 12:07 PM
Ok, Michelle and Bryan, this just about does it – you two appear to be having way too much fun in doing these Vents. Now dammit, stop having fun and start being all serious and dour!!
… naaaaaaaahhhhh ;)
Did it ever occur to you that we perceive Gwyneth as anti-American because in the numerous examples provided, every time she compares Britain and the U.S. she does it with a put-down of the latter? She doesn’t just simply state she likes Britain better – she has to rip on the U.S. every time she is asked about it, sans her most recent “Don’t Dixie-Chick me” interview with People.

So here are the following artists that are permanently deleted from my Christmas shopping list, this year and any time, anywhere in the future:
The Dixie Chicks, music
Bruce Springstein, music or videos
Barbara Streisand, movies, music or videos
Gwynneth Paltrow, movies or videos
And instead, I’ll buy friends and family some of the following:
Newt Gingrich: “Rediscovering God in America”
Robert Spencer: “The Truth about Muhammad”
Nonie Darwish: “Now They Call Me Infidel”
There’s lots more to add to each list, but it’s a good start.

Her misquotes were due to bad Spanish? Well that makes sense, considering that they don’t speak Spanish in Portugal. They (obviously) speak Portuguese, which is similar, but some words have different meaning.
not that I think Gwen is off the hook here. Stay in England, she’ll fit right in with all the other moonbats here.

Ann on December 6, 2006 at 1:23 PM
I really doubt Gwyneth has enough of a mind of her own to come up with this stuff, she’s just parroting the anti-American drivel from her wackjob socialist hubby.
infidel4life on December 6, 2006 at 1:28 PM
I don’t think claiming Americans aren’t as interesting as Brits or saying you like Britian better than America is anti-American. If those statements offend you, then by all means protest and boycott everything Gwyneth. I just think this is all insignificant and unless Gwyneth is pissing on an American flag or claiming she supports Al-Queda I don’t care what her favorite country is.
I lived in Denmark for 2 years.
I like Danes better than Americans because they never end a party before 5am and all the girls are tall, thin, blond, and gorgeous. I like Denmark better because they have the balls to print Mohammand cartoons and not cave into PC pressure.
So I guess I am anti-American?
JaHerer22 on December 6, 2006 at 1:28 PM
You proved the point I made above. You managed to say why you like Denmark without having to resort to put-downs of the U.S. The same cannot be said for Paltrow’s “praising” of Britain, the content of which nearly always involves dissing American in one respect or the other.
I fully expect you’ll miss (or ignore) the difference though.
thirteen28 on December 6, 2006 at 1:51 PM
I enjoy watching Vent. The content is allways well researched and well presented.
Can you bring back the trampoline?
Dan866 on December 6, 2006 at 2:05 PM
I have to break with my HotAir compatriots…lose the acting, keep the wig…trot it out occasionally…ssssssspice!
My family and I lived in the UK for a while, and loved it. I can echo Ms. Paltrow’s sentiments, but not for the same reasons. Once you get out of the M25 ringroad, England is beautiful. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
…but America is home.
Home is more than big trunks (boots) on cabs and spritely dinner conversation. Ms. Paltrow’s stated reasons for prefering the UK show just how shallow and fickle she is. She likes the UK, but LOVES the dollars rolling in.
She and her husband aren’t the only vapid entertainment figures who disdain Joe Six-Pack, preferring Jacques Beaujolais-nouveau. There are a lot of multi-millions-a-movie types who prefer their digs far from their home shores. Some delight in answering the foreign press, treating them to highly quotable invective about America and its current president. We can only hope that they stay there.
Puritan1648 on December 6, 2006 at 2:23 PM

So, I don’t think I will buy anymore Estee Lauder products. Maybe those of us who are insulted by Gwynnie should start a boycott.

Michelle, Pleeeeese. No more blond wigs.
BobK on December 6, 2006 at 3:57 PM
JeHerer22,
Close, but no cigar. Paltrow’s past America-is-trash comments wouldn’t have earned her a Vent, and you’d be right, she can say what she believes. When she realized that she’d gone one too far, and it might affect the box-office for her next movie ala Dixie Chicks, she pulled the “I was misquoted” routine, in a shallow attempt to yank public opinion back up a notch. Speaking her mind is her right, and stating her opinions of America is a choice she’s at liberty to do. Lying about it afterwards when she fears potential monetary consequences is different, and the purpose of the Vent.
Amazing how the limousine liberals are perfectly willing to capitalize on their fans’ entertainment dollars, while simultaneously making crude reference to the dirty shame of America’s capitalism.

Well, in Paltrow’s defense I’ll say that – unlike so many of her fellow Hollywood Morons – at least she actually left the country, instead of just falsely promising to do so.
Aside from that: uh, Michelle, black is your color. You own black. Blonde, yikes!
Halloween’s over. Don’t scare us like that unless we’re ready for it!

Patrick Chester on December 6, 2006 at 4:38 PM
I have a feeling that, while living in the US, Paltrow was surrounded by people that work for a living. Now, they might have all been highly paid actors and directors, but, they were still people that worked for a living. So, when you ask someone about their day, that’s what they’re going to mention. Furthermore, she was younger (young people are usually busier making a name for themselves) and didn’t have any kids (people without kids to focus on tend to focus on whatever is ‘big’ in their life….i.e. WORK).
So, she makes a small fortune, has kids, and moves to a wealthy area of Britain with a lot of ‘old money’ people that haven’t worked in generations. Am I shocked that those people don’t talk about getting ahead in life? Not at all. Who are they going to try to get ahead of? They’re the front of the line.
I don’t object to someone having preferences. I wouldn’t be offended at all if she said “With the crowd I hang with now, we talk philosophy at dinner and I find that more enjoyable than the crowd I hung with back in the US where we always talked about work.” That wouldn’t have even made me blink.
My issue is that she generalized an entire nation (300 million people) as only ever talking about work and generalized another entire nation (don’t know the pop of Britain) as having better dinner conversations. There are plenty of people in the US that never talk about work at dinner and plenty of people in Britain that always talk about work at dinner. If she had done a similar generalization that didn’t wash with the PC crowd, even more people would be offended (i.e., “Oh, I prefer living in Britain to living in Africa because I like living in real houses.” suddenly it seems more offensive, but the same basic principal applies)
She can say what she wants (until Sharia takes hold) and she can say it how she wants. However, if she offends me, I can take my movie dollars and spend them elsewhere. It’s not censorship, it’s the free market.
JadeNYU on December 6, 2006 at 5:10 PM
I thought it was funny. Michelle showed more acting chops in five minutes than that empty head Paltrow has in 15 years.
JammieWearingFool on December 6, 2006 at 5:35 PM
I don’t have any tolerance for people who believe they are cut from finer cloth and molded from final clay than others, so naturally there are no UK addresses in my black book. Begging for approval from people who have been inculcated with contempt for your kind is not the healthiest way for Americans to live. That’s how I used to live.

But I hope she hangs around in England for a while. They deserve her and at the rate they’re being overrun by the Islamofascists she should have some very interesting dinner conversations in a few years.
Oh well, there’s always Canada.

Michelle, great Vent from a huge talent. Bravo!
I for one would like to see an hour long special on Fox News, topic Immigration, hosted by you and supported by the Vent “All Stars” (sorry Brit): Robert Spencer and Mark Steyn et al.

Great acting, Michelle! You put a smile on my face today. :D
Really, I had no idea that she is such a pinhead that hates her country…sad that so many people that have benefited from our freedoms have nothing better to do than to diss the US of A.

I laughed my ass off. My favorite Vent to date. The more Vents making fun of these idiotic asshats the better.
10 out of 10 stars!!!!!!!

Michelle,
I can’t believe that they let you do that.
Oh yeah, this is the Internet, and “they” don’t have a damn thing to say about it, do they?

Well until Benedict Arnold married his tory wife, he was an American hero.
Face it folks, America has NEVER been “loved by the world” and we never will be. Punks like Gwinnie, Depp, Clooney, Baldwin can run their faces all they want, BUT they ALL know where their bread is buttered.
And remember this, Benedict Arnold was NEVER trusted by the Brits……………… because he was a traitor.

Like shooting fish in a bucket.
Great Vent, Michelle and Bryan! I needed a good laugh, especially after all the bad news today.

As soon as her latest quote was published I flashed back to at least two similar previous incidents. Those were not given the global attention of this one, which explain her unprecedented and insincere damage control. She’s so self centered and out of it she’s probably lamenting how all this “happened to her” … And blaming those “mean right wingers” as a self defense mechanism. {As cheers of support ring out from the “Gwyneth Entourage” -only the Entourage…}
