TMZ: Andy Dick drops N-bomb at LA comedy club

But he did it ironically, to mock Michael Richards.

Jesse Jackson’s on a mission to have the word deemed taboo in all circumstances, regardless of the intent with which it’s used. Paul Mooney said after the Richards incident that he’s dropping it from his act. Dilemma for the media: will they follow Reverend Jesse’s zero-tolerance policy and call Dick out? Or will they let him skate because he’s “outrageous” and wasn’t being sincere when he said it?

What would Wesley Snipes do?

Howard asked Andy about Wesley Snipes punching him when he used the N-word in front of him. Andy said he was joking around with a black friend of his when Snipes walked by and heard it. That led to him punching him out.

I think I’d punch Andy out for just about anything. Does anyone really need a reason?

robblefarian on December 5, 2006 at 2:13 PM

I thought the left was against censorship?

Yeah, I know. Stupid me. it’s ok to use the F bomb loud and proud in public when talking about the anatomy of the opposite sex, or the same sex, or even kids for that matter (at least according to the ACLU), but ohhhhhhhh no don’t go using the N word.

Someone might get offended. Minority’s feelings have now surpassed our kids right to be free from abusive and profane langauge in importance in the governments eyes.

GO US!!!

One Angry Christian on December 5, 2006 at 2:14 PM

He should drop the Andy, and just go with Dick.

Washed. Up. Loser.

Speaking of Wesley Snipes, is he still a fugitive?

Andy will get a pass,he is not a white hetero male.Open season on them , Andy, not so much.

bbz123 on December 5, 2006 at 2:23 PM

Paul Mooney was Richard Pryor’s joke writer. The N word comes out of his mouth every other sentence. Now if Richard Pryor stopped using the N word after visiting Africa, can we really beleive Paul Mooney will stop because of Kramer?

Paul Lukas is all over the N word today:

I fully support Jesse in this effort.

It is a disgusting word that should be purged from American culture.

Allah, why are my comments hitting the filter? I’m not using any foul language.

natesnake on December 5, 2006 at 2:32 PM

Let’s not forget the political incorrectness of the “C” word..unless it’s used to describe our political underpinnings. Then the left throws it around like a bong!

I believe that people who use the n-word are either desparate for attention or lack higher intelligence. That criteria is the same whether you are black, white, green, or red.

natesnake on December 5, 2006 at 2:38 PM

Does anyone remember a couple years ago when Ralph Nadar used that word to describe himself during a post election speech?

Al Sparpton reluctantly gave him a pass.

natesnake on December 5, 2006 at 2:42 PM

I think any word that offends anyone shouldn’t be allowed to be spoken. In fact, let’s just stop talking all together. It’s a total waste of time, anyways.

Let’s all remember that white males are the majority of people in the workforce. We shouldn’t be surprised that they hold a lot of these top spots. The beauty of it is that anyone, with hard work, has the potential to be one of those top folks.

jdpaz on December 5, 2006 at 2:56 PM

Perhaps I’m too young to be offended by those words. They always made me laugh.

We should never ban words or free speech. I believe that it is unfortunate that some of these racial slurs have become a large part of the American vernacular.

When someone uses a racial slur around me, my natural instinct is to think less of them. Bigots and idiots grate on my nerves.

Except for cracker, honky, and gringo. I always chuckle.

First, no they’re not the majority, perhaps the plurality. If you look at the % of men who hold the top spots in the Fortune 500–I believe its 485?–the proportionality you suggest is obviously way, way out of whack.

My point is that when you belong to a group that disproportionately enjoys the benefits of the society, whining about how you are on the shitty end of the stick when it comes to political correctness, well it’s whining.

Ok but then I’m done: your comment that men have been told to be metro sexual “panty wastes” (and that’s one of the funnier misspellings I’ve seen in a while) is whining; your suggestion that women want men to be the aforementioned is whining. Whining meaning complaining about your lot.

Women currently make up 15.1% of Congress, the highest percentage ever.

Condi Rice.
Carly Fiona.
Nancy Pelosi.
Janet Napolitano.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Sandra Day O’Connor.
Hillary Clinton.
Jesse Jackson. (agree with him or not, he’s a top political leader).
Colin Powell. (bonus points, a top general AND a SecState)

And “women of color” are one of the fastest growing segments of business owners.

Honora, quit spouting catchphrases… either back up your opinions with facts, or get back in the kitchen and bake me a pie! :-)

Actually I am going to bake tonight–Christmas cookies, not pies, but close enough. You are making my point: women make up 15% of Congress, yes it’s growing, but women make up 52% of the population so it’s not exactly time to congratulate ourselves on equality.

What “catchphrase” am I spouting BTW?

Hey honora is going to ask people with significant economic and political influence who complain about their own lot like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Nihad Awad, Ibrahim Hooper, and even Eleanor Smeal [after all, gender is a social construct] to quit whining!

eeyore on December 5, 2006 at 3:39 PM

Don’t forget “snowflake.”

Or what a group black students from another high school were calling a few of our blond-headed white students when we hosted a basketball game… “Vanilla Head”

..if we would have given them the same respect the police would have been called.

GoodBoy on December 5, 2006 at 3:39 PM

Some labor stats for honora. If you’re going to split hairs over “majority” vs “plurality” then, yeah, white males are merely a plurality. But stinkin’ near a majority!! My main point stands, that white males should hold the plurality of “high power” positions—as well as every other kind of position—except maybe Avon salesmen.

Honora wants Title ix to apply to politicians, too. We’re gonna have proportionate representation in politics by women whether they want to run or not!!!

darwin on December 5, 2006 at 3:42 PM

wow…we’ve ventured far off the path on this one, haven’t we?

tickleddragon on December 5, 2006 at 3:45 PM

In discussions like this we always focus on the “right to speak” . . . well, what about the “right to hear”?

What if I WANT to hear the N word? What are my rights? Do I have any?

Book burning . . . why is it wrong? Because the burners don’t have the right to burn? . . . or because someone else is being denied the right to read?

Right to read . . . right to hear. Why is one so important and the other not?

Same thing with the Confederate flag. Why are the rights of the people who want to hide it greater than the rights of the people who want to see it?

And if something is “symbolic” . . . meaning that it stands for something . . . all the more that it should not be suppressed.

Labamigo on December 5, 2006 at 3:49 PM

This is why the Borat movie is so funny and successful. I am starving for humor, but the sensitive PC police has been taking the fun out of America. Heed the warnings, and don’t follow a similar path.

Def Comedy Jam is outrageously funny, and I laugh at white jokes all the time. And you know what, I’ve never heard any comic use the word “cracker” or “honky”. In fact, the comics typically use the N word as if it’s an article of speech.

Did anyone see Weird Al’s new video “White and Nerdy” yet?

Are you all too uptight to poke a little fun at yourself?

budorob on December 5, 2006 at 3:50 PM

Did anyone see Weird Al’s new video “White and Nerdy” yet?

The music is par. The video is very funny.

natesnake on December 5, 2006 at 4:07 PM

I’ve always been fond of “Gwailo,” myself.

I mean, how many racial slurs area actually as cool as “White Ghost?”

How freakin’ cool is that?

But then, how am I supposed to take seriously any fool who claims they can use racial slurs about others but others can use them against them.

Sure, if in fact it were true that, as a honkey, I was automatically wealthy and priveledged, it would be a more than fair bargain. But I ain’t and it isn’t, so stuff it.

It’s just one more example of people trying to “get over” on other people, which, sadly, becomes more and more prevalent as people are allowed to get away with it.

Merovign on December 5, 2006 at 4:12 PM

Are you all too uptight to poke a little fun at yourself?

I’m not.

I’m white.

I’m 40 and freely admit that I have never fully grown up yet and that I like it that way.

I cannot dance for hot buttered biscuits.
I do stereotypical redneck things like hunt, fish, and watch NASCAR…..all of my friends seem to also.

I think that sitting outside on a summer night in Georgia with some cold beers and cocktails and watching a braves game is a pretty damn good time, regardless of what your sophisticated types may say to the contrary.

I cannot rap.
I do not try to rap since the first attempt.
I carry a handgun almost everywhere I go because I’m paranoid.

My educational level is far below what it should be because I didn’t want to attend college….so I didn’t, I went into the Army and learned a trade instead…..and I think the 4 years that I spent in the service taught me more about how things like the world really work than college ever could have.

I taught myself a second language(spanish), it took almost 2 years to becaome fluent, but I hate talking to latinos in spanish, so I only speak it with other gringos who speak it.

I always do this …. thing when I write.

I hope to learn english next….or we could get a spell checker on this dang thing.

quax1 on December 5, 2006 at 4:16 PM

My point is that when you belong to a group that disproportionately enjoys the benefits of the society

Because males may make up 85% of Congress I’m disproportionately enjoying the benefits of society? I’m basically your typical WASP, could you please explain what benefits I enjoy?
At my company (and all the companies I’ve been employed at, both big and small), being white OR male doesn’t mean you’ll get a promotion; in fact the mgmt positions in my current company are filled proportionately by men and women. And I’ve gotten to the position I’m in by hard work, certainly not because of either my sex or race.
When I apply for a loan, the loan officer never sees my face. Ditto for applying for a credit card.
Of the few gov’t services I use, none are available to me that aren’t available to others.
All you’re doing Honora is spouting the typical NOW-reinforced ‘glass ceiling’ garbage… with hard work, anybody can reach whatever position he/her is reaching for.

To the contrary, more ‘disproportionate benefits’ are enjoyed by so-called ‘minorities’… how many times have you heard of contracts, both gov’t and business given to minority-owned businesses, even when those contract proposals may have not been the most economical?

Spare me your “woe is the weaker sex” whining.

dalewalt on December 5, 2006 at 4:19 PM

And as far as the ‘n-word’ offending someone; well if you’re so socially maladjusted and insecure that a simple word offends you, you’ve got bigger problems than a simple word.

I’m basically a mutt, Irish, Polish, Amerindian, English, Scottish, French, German, etc. I could care less what names someone may call me, and love a good Polack joke just as much as the next person (though I usually don’t understand them).

BTW, have you heard about the new Polish navy? Glass-bottomed boats to see the old Polish navy (ba-da-bum)

dalewalt on December 5, 2006 at 4:23 PM

Honora seems to embrace the “victim mentality” wholeheartedly. What’s scary is she believes in ethnic and gender quotas, not qualifications. What better way to keep minorities down than to tell them you don’t have to work for anything … you deserve it because of your genetic makeup and your hormones.

darwin on December 5, 2006 at 4:33 PM

First, I was convinced that I had nothing to add on this thread. Then…

Actually I am going to bake tonight–Christmas cookies

honora on December 5, 2006 at 3:23 PM

I knew we had more in common. So will I, until X-mas Eve.

From an angle of respect honora, today you were asking for it. Like they jump in barefooted into those grape-stomping containers, you hopped in, had a few guys join you and you went at it. While you enjoy the ‘parties’, you got in very deep today, with the ‘funny’ on the other thread and the ‘women, minorities’ on this one.

On a very serious note – I’m a female who came to this country legally, not knowing but a few English words. No one, but no one, ever, discriminated against me, nor would they have dared. There is nothing to add to this. It was all hard work, realism, attitude and persistence, and no whining whatever.

Leave that Utopian crap to the Marxists and idealists of the world. You know, while we disagree somewhere in the Independent sphere, we’d get along fabulously if we’d meet. I sure hope you never leave this board.

Wade on December 5, 2006 at 4:53 PM

Why is the assumption made that white men have all the advantages just because they have the big corporate titles?

My CEO works about 80-100 hours a week. I get emails from him sent at 3am. He leaves the office about 10pm. He has to travel all over the country, living out of a suitcase, going to boring conference, and trying to drum up business. In the time I’ve worked here, I’ve never seen him take a real vacation. Sure, he’s gone on vacation with his wife and daughters, but, he’s on the computer and phone the whole time talking to clients and making deals.

Contrast that ‘over privileged white man’s’ life with mine.

I work 40 hours a week. My schedule is 9-6 (no paid lunches, I’m afraid – those bastards!) Mon-Fri. On a rare occasion I might stay a little late at the office to finish something up. I DON’T work on vacations (although, the option is available, if I want to make a little extra money while I’m off). I could sleep 8 hours a night if I chose (but video games syphon off that time so I’m averaging about 5 hours a night, by choice).

Does my CEO make more than I do? Absolutely! Is it because he’s one of the chosen white males and I’m a lowly female being held down by the glass ceiling? Absolutely not! It’s because he works his butt of and I like to take it easy. I’m a lot happier making less and enjoying my free time, and, I suspect, he’s a lot happier being a workaholic. We both win.

I think it’s a mistake to say society is somehow biased in favor of him because he gets to be a CEO and I don’t. We both got what we wanted and what we’re willing to work for. It’s that whole American meritocracy thing we’ve got going on.

My point is that when you belong to a group that disproportionately enjoys the benefits of the society, whining about how you are on the shitty end of the stick when it comes to political correctness, well it’s whining. — honora

…shift of viewpoint: you’re enjoying the benefits of society when they’re there, and you can walk barefoot through ‘em.

…it’s another matter when *YOU MAKE THE SOCIETY AND THEN MAKE THE BENEFITS*…and other people, who don’t do so much “makin’” then not only get to do the barefoot walkin’ — no problems there, that’s what benefits are for — but also take every opportunity to diss, dissemble and discharge all over you.

It isn’t whining to remark upon ingratitude.

We’re into the, what, second or third generation of artifically slanted playing fields? We had a crooked playing surface for 100 years, slanted not so much in favor of whites — there were *PLENTY* of ass-out-of-their-britches whites during the Jim Crow years who generally lived at the same level as blacks — as it was slanted against blacks. Those days of de jure racism are done. Period.

Now, we’re living with the playing field no more level than it was when Bilbo ran for the Senate. Equality is *STILL* off on the horizon…and there’s a poverty and grievance industry, thinly disguised by loft phrases extolling that distant equality, which profits by keeping things askew.

Most citizens who strive in this country succeed nowadays. There’s as much racism and ill feeling on one side of any indicated racial divide in this country — black/white, black/Korean, white/Indian, hispanic/black — as well as the old gender-based standby, along with matters touching upon the handicapped, homosexual and the self-marginalized, as there ever was. People are people.

What people would be wise to do, however, is take a gander at themselves and *TRY* to be fair. If you’re all bent out of shape about the nasty, exploitative, racist, oppressive white male, consider that he’s probably as tired of hearing it as you are of saying it. Stop talking and get moving.

…Andy…Dick…Dick….

…probably thought that “Andy Fellatio” sounded too Italian….

I always do this …. thing when I write. — quax1

…so do I…periods are cheap. They’ll keep making ‘em.

…plaintext lacks nuance. You need a good way to express a drawl, a pause for effect, a pause for breath, and a fart. “…” is as good a method as any.

…oh…it also p*sses off tight-a$$ed people. There’s another plus.

Honora’s definitely not a troll. — dalewalt

…seconded (or thirded, or fourthed, I’ve lost count).

Not that I’m sucking up to her, you understand. She’s mighty confused…doesn’t capitalize her name…and dresses like a hoochie sometimes….

…other than that, she’s quality.

This place would be a dump if we all agreed…unless that was for us all to agree with me…that’d be OK.

One more slap on Socialism/Communism. Castro will come after you…he’s terminally ill? Never mind :)

Love your pen name. Good, unique pick!

natesnake: “I fully support Jesse in this effort.

It is a disgusting word that should be purged from American culture.”

I disagree. I don’t support him. He’s a race pimp and an extortionist. Neither do I support the politically correct police. I don’t support any censorship at all among adults, even the mild censorship here at HA.

People who use the word ARE a$$h9les. And I have no qualms about using the actual A-word to their face when they act out.

georgej on December 5, 2006 at 8:09 PM

There are 375 of me in the country. That’s what you get for having a common first name (Jessica) and a common last name as well.

I’ve even met someone (in the same small town that I was born in – pop. 330 – when I went back to visit) that had the exact same name, first middle and last (and no, we weren’t related).

Only 35 with my mom’s name and 0 with my sister’s name. Looks like they got the unique names.

That criteria is the same whether you are black, white, green, or red.

I don’t know, nate. Those green people can get away with anything.

I’ve had a visceral revulsion to the n word since I was a kid. Dad smashed me when I repeated it after hearing a neighbor say it. I’m glad my dad did that, as I haven’t been tempted to use it since then.

mikeyboss on December 5, 2006 at 8:50 PM

Okay, first of all, Andy Dick is a flaming drug addicted attention whore, he’s like a cartoon. This is just a pathetic, yet successful, attempt to get some press.

Jesse Jackson’s on a mission to have the word deemed taboo in all circumstances, regardless of the intent with which it’s used.

Why did it take the Richards incident to get Jackson started on this crusade? Plenty of people, less “powerful” than Jackson, have called for an end to N-word usage for a long time. But suddenly one of the shakedown brothers joins the fight, simply because if he didn’t he’d look like a hypocrite for selectively condemning people for using it. What a fricken’ joke.

Paul Mooney said after the Richards incident that he’s dropping it from his act.

And Paul Mooney? Please… This is the same guy that played “Negrodamus” on Chappelle’s Show (third sketch in this vid).

Highlight:

Q: Why do white people like Wayne Brady so much?

N: White people love Wayne Brady…because he makes…Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X.

My point is that when you belong to a group that disproportionately enjoys the benefits of the society, whining about how you are on the shitty end of the stick when it comes to political correctness, well it’s whining.

honora on December 5, 2006 at 3:03 PM

Unfortunately there is no point to this at all. Since when does belonging to a “group” make everyone in that group equal? Do you honestly purport that all white men have great jobs, enjoy fantastic perks, get a free pass in society – just because they’re white? How elitist, cliche, and stereotypical can you get. All men may be created equal, but their roles in society are definitely NOT equal. I can’t stand this type of simplistic logic (if the word “logic” can be adequately used in this reference). Suggesting a white man has no right to “whine” about anything simply because he’s white completely ignores principals of self-determination and circumstances, and reflects a very simple mind.

Like those stupid ants whining about all the grief they took from the poor, starving grasshoppers.

thedecider, I think it’s honora’s quote that did it. S word.

Pablo on December 6, 2006 at 5:11 AM

Pablo, that ants/grasshoppers story was one of my favorites as a kid, back in Romania/Europe. Don’t know where you grew up but it must be one that goes around the world :) Thanks for reminding me,

Why die Maxine Waters jump into this fire? Because she and Jessie hadn’t had too much exposure lately… TV- and news-whores, full of hot air.

Washed. Up. Loser.

…best idea / advice I’ve heard so far, JWF

honora, another stupid, vulgar, ingorant, and typically worthless comment that serves no purpose and makes no sense to anyone except to other dried-up Clintonite hags who only come on this blog to vent their petty she-anger.
