Sounds like a classic set-up. He was sent off to an event to hob-nob with the other thugs and while he was away, they cut his legs out from under him. Rather like a coup.
If he doesn’t pull civil war on them to wrest his power back, it’ll be obvious that he was a figurehead from the get-go.

I just noticed something, going back over some of the shots of Ahmadinejad, in unguarded moments outside of the press conference setting.

That man is scared. I think that’s kind of sad, but not surprising, given the environment he’s in. I imagine there are a lot of people in similar positions. Kind of feel sorry for him.

Not that it really changes how we need to react to the situation, but it’s sad to think of how many people just can’t find a way out of the maze they’re in.

Anyway, there’s you milk of human kindness for the day.
