Like I said, biting the hand that feeds you.
At the Canadian Liberal Leadership Convention last night, Howard Dean said Fox News would “hate this” following a remark about the Dems’ victory in the states. I’m not sure whether he meant Fox News would “hate” the convention or the Democratic victory. Either way, he’s still an idiot.
Ironically, FOX News was apparently the only American television network to cover the speech. FOX News’ Steve Brown tells Dean Fox News isn’t a hater … in French:

Mon dieu!

That was like - surreal!
Agrippa2k on December 1, 2006 at 8:49 AM
FYI, I think Dean was suggesting that Fox would hate that he was speaking in French. Because, you know, Fox is all conservative and all conservatives hate the French. Or something like that.
alflauren on December 1, 2006 at 8:50 AM
Tres bien fait!
LOL!
FOX itself overall is so-so, but it’s got a refreshing fiesty bunch of reporters and anchors. The more they get attacked by the Dems, the better they get.
naliaka on December 1, 2006 at 8:50 AM
Hilarious.
Penthesileia on December 1, 2006 at 8:55 AM
It reminds me of the Braveheart scene where the princess’ council condemns the “barbarian” in French, to which the “barbarian” replys in French and Latin.
Dean is such a boob. I wonder how many foriegn languages he has under his belt?

Sacre bleu!
Good Lt on December 1, 2006 at 8:58 AM
Looks like he was reading a phonetic spelling of what he was trying to say off his speech… after all his comment about fox news wasn’t in french.
While on the subject of idiocy… the conservatives up here get villified for importing policies from the repubs, yet having Dean come up and give a speech to the Liberals is ok…

Dean = pwned!
JasonG on December 1, 2006 at 9:01 AM
Hmm… how do you say pwned in french?

Speaking French: an easy transition for a party known for surrender.
QUICK! CLOSE THE GATES! HE’S OUT OF THE COUNTRY!

Mange le merde, Monsieur Dean.

Le doyen de Howard est un débile très grand. Il fait mon cerveau blesser et mes fesses serrent vers le haut!

How do you say “YEEEAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” in French?

Steve Brown is a rising star and should be angling for his own show. Last week he checked that drunk broad trying to jump in front of his camera, this week he smacks down Howard Dean… What’s next?
(/crosses fingers that he backhands Pelosi, or plays the part of Moe and pulls a 3 Stooges routine on Rangel and Kerry)
RightWinged on December 1, 2006 at 9:30 AM
Fox news should have had the French crab from “The Little Mermaid” close the segment.
maydox on December 1, 2006 at 9:47 AM
Steve Brown. Bon Travaille.
Howard Dean thinks that we cannot speak french.
Ouabam on December 1, 2006 at 9:50 AM
Is this what you said robblefarian:
The senior of Howard is weak very tall. He makes my brain wound and my buttocks tighten upwards!
RightAllAlong on December 1, 2006 at 9:52 AM
It just makes me wonder what type of person supports Dean and his cronies. I shake my head in bewilderment.
right2bright on December 1, 2006 at 9:53 AM
Monsieur Dean est un spece d’idiot.
foxforce91 on December 1, 2006 at 9:53 AM
Ditto to all the funny comments here this morning.
It’s good to start the day of with a chuckle, and Dean’s expense no less.
{chuckle}

More or less! “Howard Dean is a very big moron. He makes my brain hurt and my buttocks clench up.”
Blame the translation on my Mac widget…hehehe…

For anyone just waking up, just breaking: a second guy, an Italian who dined with Litvinenko the day he got sick has also testing positive for Polonium-210. I’m sure AP is in the process of posting, but figured I’d pass it along in case he’s not up yet.

OUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIS!
RightWinged on December 1, 2006 at 10:06 AM
Vivat!
Honest coverage of the news, even events put on by people who don’t like them and disrespect them via their own cameras, AND a sense of humor? In multiple languages? How could I NOT love FOX News?
Stefka on December 1, 2006 at 10:10 AM
God I HATE that son of a bitch for speaking FRENCH!!!
What a low down dirty, although very impressive, guy he is.
benrand on December 1, 2006 at 10:15 AM
Speaking French is easy:
“I surrender”
EEprom on December 1, 2006 at 10:18 AM
Funny, very funny.
I know a lot of people who actually do speak a little French, including my two daughters, one of whom majored in it in college.
And then there’s Mom, who can talk English real good.
/ouch!
Bob's Kid on December 1, 2006 at 10:20 AM
I think there was more than a little bit of the “Educated people cab speak French, and Faux News is for hicks in the sticks” memes.
It’s all the fault of William of Normandy and Napoleon Bonaparte. Thanks to the former, Englishmen became accustomed to being ruled by royalty and nobility that spoke French. Because of the latter, the Continent was familiar with being controlled by French armies.
Of course, the current royal family in the UK is German, and it’s been a long time since French armies controlled anything, including the banileux, which serve as reminders that Charles Martel has been dead for a very long time.

Howard Dean, your mother was a hampster and your father smells of elder berries!
natesnake on December 1, 2006 at 10:41 AM
Are you kidding? The Canadian border is easier to cross than the Mexican one.
urbancenturion on December 1, 2006 at 10:42 AM
Oh, Dean…
Mazztek on December 1, 2006 at 11:39 AM
Plus, his French was MUCH better than Dean’s. Good job FOX.

Would you let ‘Dean the Dentist Politician Mengle’ work on your teeth?
retired on December 1, 2006 at 12:55 PM
That was just horrible, horrible french from both of them. Steve’s was worse, given that it was longer… not just the bad pronunciation, but the bad grammar.
libertarianuberalles on December 1, 2006 at 1:34 PM
Heh.
Jaibones on December 1, 2006 at 2:36 PM
It’s now official: Howard Dean, the Pepe le Pew of American politics.
Give him a straw boater and he could double for Maurice Chevalier…with concussion.
To bad he doesn’t speak French like a native, and English like Marcel Marceau….

Il ressemble au Dean pratique la langue de la reddition.
(It looks like Dean is practicing the language of Surrender).
RalphyBoy on December 1, 2006 at 4:26 PM
Mr. Dean’s “French” sounded like it was spoken with a “Mexican Spanish accent”. Very sad — and I noticed only the English speakers in Canada applauded (lol)
cranura on December 1, 2006 at 8:19 PM
Outstanding! I think Steve Brown is now my favorite person at Fox News.
Rightgirl30 on December 1, 2006 at 10:06 PM
Well of course, minus any other evidence, being bi-lingual is clear evidence of moral corruption. Duh…
honora on December 2, 2006 at 1:17 PM
lol, I just remembered.. Chappelle had an eerily prophect sketch in one of the “lost episodes”… “….We’re gonna go to Montreal………… Byaaaaah”
RightWinged on December 2, 2006 at 6:42 PM
Heh, honora, my ears were damaged from his short attempt… Bi-lingual is something very different and polyglot is the only word to brag about on this subject, which is not significant.
His ‘moral corruption’ was his overt sucking up to the froggies. I could see them explode, physically and by ego. Er, it didn’t last long and they imploded back to their little selves.
I did, however, catch your slight irritation and always admire the way in which you express it. If you wouldn’t love this site, you’d long be outa here. I’m sincerely glad you stay. Regards,
