Protesters kick, spit on sponsor of Tancredo speech at MSU; Update: Protest video added

posted at 5:28 pm on December 1, 2006 by Allahpundit

Could the Trilateral Commission have hired paid thugs to try to silence TT before he blew the lid off the North American Union conspiracy?

Maybe. But it’s more likely a case of “progressives” showering peace, tolerance, and chops to the adam’s apples of anyone who disagrees with them. Don’t bother tuning in to “Countdown” tonight to see Olby tackle this one; it won’t be there.

A campus discussion about illegal immigration turned violent Thursday evening, when protesters clashed with the MSU College Republicans and Young Americans for Freedom, who sponsored the event.

Kyle Bristow, chairman of the Young Americans for Freedom, or YAF, said he was kicked and spat upon by some of the protesters when he was outside the MSU College of Law, where the discussion was being held…

Before Tancredo arrived and while the event was being set up, protesters gathered on the fourth floor of the law college with signs that read “Ignorant Racist.”

Someone in the building set off a fire alarm twice throughout the evening…

Randy McPherson, whose sign read “Where’s the wall to keep you out?” came to protest when he heard that the congressman would be speaking.

“God works in mysterious ways,” said McPherson, a food science and premedical junior, after the second fire alarm was pulled. “(Tancredo) shouldn’t be here.”

The scum at Columbia got away with it, the scum here probably will too. TT took it in stride, though, describing it afterwards in an e-mail to his staff as “very exciting stuff.”

Hey, look what I found on YouTube! Skip ahead to, oh, 1:50 and 4:00 if you’re pressed for time. “Taken out of context,” eh?

Update: Slapstick Politics found a clip of the protest at the Rocky Mountain News. It’s the usual. Click the image to watch.

More tolerance from the moonbats:

“There are at least 3 incidents of physical violence by the protestors against college republicans: one was spit on, one was kicked, and one was punched. Tires were also slashed.”

You don’t have to agree with Tancredo, but once again the standard for free speech from the moonbat left is “free speech for me, none for thee” and statements that speakers “shouldn’t be here” only too clearly reveal the type of society that liberals/leftist moonbats would establish if given the opportunity.

What do you do when the website moderator is himself doing the trolling?

This is only my second Tancredo thread, but I have always thought he was more right than wrong on his pet issue, though I will acknowledge the Miami quip was…unfortunate at best.

Sorry AP, that was meant to come across as lighthearted. After seeing it in print, it looks a bit more blunt than when it was pinging around in my skull.

urbancenturion on December 1, 2006 at 5:40 PM

My Allah, I hate to be so extremist, but don’t the “progressives” have so much in common with the Islamo-fascists…if you don’t agree with them then you have to be silenced. As of yet I don’t believe a progressive has be-headed anyone, but there’s always the next campus protest-riot………..

ritethinker on December 1, 2006 at 5:44 PM

Allah, you’re not going to let Tancredo’s theory go, are you? :-) LOL.

Just kidding. Anyway,

I guess this is another situation of the party of peace and tolerance, who wants their freedom of speech denied to the Republican party.

What’s with the weird synthesized voice at the end? Couldn’t they get a real person for that?

see-dubya on December 1, 2006 at 5:51 PM

I’m sorry, I was just re-reading the article and noticed one of the thugs(progressives) said “God works in mysterious ways” in reference to the fire-alarms going off. An SP mentioning God, what in the name of O’Reilly is going on here. Oh, wait a tick, the thugs set off the alarms, OK it makes sense now…they’re referring to themselves..yes makes perfect sense now…

ritethinker on December 1, 2006 at 5:51 PM

Who are the brownshirts again?

I love the smell of progressives acting progressive in the morning: It smells like……fascism

These Sturm-Abteilungen go everywhere they discern a whiff of opposing ideas. It may not be 1938 yet–more like Berlin in the hazy Summer of 1932.

Turns out he was taken out of context. He didn’t once mention the “Amero” or that Bush wants to combine the US, Mexico and Canada into one country.

We keep hearing and reading of more and more of these incidents on campuses and elsewhere. Since there has been relatively little repercussion, one has to believe that the offenders are becoming increasingly emboldened and conservatives have no stomach for confronting it.

MSU students are obviously are in a rush to get back to the future.

Too bad they don’t understand the privilege of higher education.
Too bad their professors don’t understand the honor and the duty they’ve been entrusted with.

Tancredo is a horrible spokesman for immigration

So, who would be a “good” spokesman on immigration?

One who doesn’t think there’s any problem with the current numbers and lack of enforcement?

If you believe there’s a serious problem with the numbers … then who would be a good spokesman and how would they get this message across without pissing off the race baiters?

I don’t think it’s possible to be honest about this issue without being called a “bad spokesman.”

Newt is a great spokeman on immigration, but he hasn’t been totally honest either. It’s like what I said earlier about Michelle. IF Michelle believed Bush wanted open borders and integration with Mexico … would she be forced to keep quite about it out of fear of being labeled a “bad spokesman” or a “nutbag?”

Or would you all suddenly believe it?

Gregor on December 1, 2006 at 6:51 PM

I don’t know who a good spokesman would be, but Tancredo and Gilchrist ain’t it.

Scot on December 1, 2006 at 6:59 PM

Cripes, when did this turn into a flamewar thread?

Look, if this thread is offending your delicate sensibilities so much, perhaps you should turn off the computer and go back to whatever it is you do on a Friday night.

I’m guessing it has something to do with sitting on coal and producing diamonds myself.

Slublog on December 1, 2006 at 8:54 PM

Exactly slublog, there isn’t any need to flamewar and differing opinions should be always welcome because it would be a very boring life if everyone agreed on everything all the time. Allahpundit knows that too and for one I’m always happy when he throws a always hot topic onto the already roaring fire.

Tancredo also knows that the only way he’s likely to get mention of the NAU into the MSM is to have someone say he doubt’s it existence but the left’s own brownshirted thugsters aren’t aware that they’re hurting their own college goggle socialist agenda by actions just like this. Don’t they know they’re only supporting the real New World Order threat (socialism) and ensuring higher corporate profits.

Almost everything is good as long as you look at it in the right light and have a plan to capitalize on the other sides errors.

…let’s see….

Freedom of religion, unless you’re a “out” Christian.

Freedom of the press, unless we don’t like what you print…in which case we steal all of your newspapers and trash ‘em.

Freedom of assembly, unless you leave the doors open and we can get in and disrupt your assembly with foul language, banners and, now, violence.

Freedom to petition, which we’ve not gotten around to disrupting…yet….

That’s the First Amendment taken care of….

OH…no private ownership of guns…what would happen if we *EVER* got organized enough to actually *HAVE* that revolution we’re constantly gassing on about…can’t arm counter-revolutionaries…or the targets of thieves, as that would be racist….

Double jeopardy? If we didn’t like the verdict, let’s try them on civil charges.

…and the Tenth Amendment…Big Daddy knows best.

Well…it’s nice to see that they’re still teaching citizenship and civics in high schools. Our university student population seems to be taking it so to heart….

Sublog

I just read your column and I can not believe what I read.

What you are advocating is Amnesty unless they have committed a major crime.

What about the crime of entering our borders illegally, committing identity theft, filing documents that are based on lies in order to matriculate into a country you do not belong in.

It is obvious you don’t believe they are committing a crime to come here and work.

I am glad Tom Tancredo is speaking out and would vote for him to be President in a heartbeat.

Slublog on December 1, 2006 at 10:29 PM

They not only removed the flag, but they made him look more unshaven than he is. Unfair and unnecessary. I’m not the biggest Tancredo fan, but I think the media should be fair.

Slublog on December 1, 2006 at 10:45 PM

Elpresidente, nice catch. Almost every image I have seen of Tancredo has him in front of a flag.

Slublog, thanks for the link to your post. My grandparents were all immigrants from “third world” countries. They learned the language, albeit brokenly, but they all assimilated into America. The melting pot is cracked today. There is almost no assimilation in the current wave of immigrants. Most are here to make a small fortune and return home. In the meantime, local budgets are sucked dry for social services, schools, and medical care while the immigrants send huge chunks of earnings home. This is morally wrong and against the law which makes every illegal immigrant a criminal by definition. It is not racist to say so as it applies to any third worlder coming here illegally.

The North American Union concept is popular for the same reason that Kennedy assassination conspiracies abound. No one could accept that an unstable lone gunman could damage an entire country like Oswald did. Likewise, no one can accept that a lone unstable President can damage the country like Bush is doing against all reason.

Valiant on December 2, 2006 at 7:54 AM

Not only is the left attacking Tancredo but our own RNC is trying to take Tancredo out just like they did with Pat Buchanan.

Rove and Bush are scared to death that if Tancredo builds his momentum, their plans for a one world order will be slowed down or stopped by the electorate.

I would love to see Tom Tancredo and Ron Paul run in 2008.They seem to be the only conservatives listening to the people.

ScottyDog on December 2, 2006 at 2:25 PM

How’s this for a tie-in. Pastor Rick Warren is a member of the CFR . The globalists at the CFR are the accused in pushing for the unholy North American Union.

It’s the rage to demonize Tancredo. Then when crap like this happens, they act all outraged.

That’s why I’m doing it. Because it’s “the rage,” not because what he said is genuinely moronic and embarrassing to our side.

I don’t take kindly to having my motives questioned, and I *especially* don’t care for the insinuation that I’m “acting” when I criticize the thugs who shouted him down at MSU. Take your lips off of his ass, though, why don’t you?

Allahpundit on December 3, 2006 at 12:28 PM

Liberal colleges are doing everything in their power to destroy America. Why would anyone with sense send their kids to these mosques of liberal hatred toward America? When we do so, we are supporting their agenda. Four years of this facist propaganda and $120,000 later and what do you have? MSU should be ashamed of itself.

Vanquisher on December 3, 2006 at 12:45 PM

What do you mean “our” side? When did you become the sole spokesGod for the Republican Party/conservatives? I am not the only one who has objected to your mischaracterization of him. Which only guarantees ad nauseum ‘Tancredo is a racist posts.’ Whose ass has your lips been on lately?

EF on December 3, 2006 at 2:08 PM

It’s only when you support and defend a good conservative that it can be said that you are kissing said conservative’s butt.

That is your opinion, I happen to agree with what Tancredo said about Miami and the North American Union.

Somebody has to bring this issue out to be debated by the American people and the Congress. Just because the MSM wants to keep all this a secret is no reason to ridicule Tancredo for something the GWB administration is doing behind closed doors.

ScottyDog on December 3, 2006 at 3:38 PM

I know that I’ll never vote for anyone who even speaks of amnesty for illegal aliens and I have a feeling that if the GOP doesn’t see a huge national trend in that direction they had better hope a lot of illegal voters decide to support them or there will be fewer in office after November 2008. I think this one will go 100 posts after all.

Buzzy on December 3, 2006 at 4:26 PM

Buzzy, that is the baffling thing about the behavior of the GOP and a factor in why the North American Union concept has gained so much traction. Inexplicable.

Valiant on December 3, 2006 at 4:31 PM

Illegal aliens discovered something huge this past election. They learned they could use their drivers license or other form of fake ID to go vote for their favorite open-borders candidate. They now realize they have a powerful voice in American politics and they will not be stopped.
