The Government, -from Congress, through the Courts, and to the Executive- has wrestled itslf into a knot, where the steering of this War has apparently mechanically devolved to an obsolete autopilot.

The journalistic and political class have got to read the source materials in this War. The Koran. Hadiths. Histories of the Crusades (from both sides). And understand Lepanto. Charles Martel. The Gates of Vienna. The Mahdi.

And the difference between Sura 9:5 and Jesus’ words: “Blessed are the peacemakers…”

Or The Buddha’s: “Wake up; be compassionate.”

Or Lao Tzu’s: “The emptiness of the vessel is as vital as its walls.”

The scope of the derelection of duty – as far as “knowing the enemy” goes- is staggering.

They’ve got being smarmy down pat, but couldn’t tell you Bukhari from a bandicoot.

Embarassments to their craft and their culture.

And endangering the survival of both.

This is not the first time the MSM, or AP, standard of integrity in news “reporting” has been questioned and found far short of ethical standards. This incident is just another in a long line of deceptions – and those are only the ones we know about.

I say again, in my opinion, the MSM is deliberately misrepresenting facts in their “reporting” to support their biased political agenda. Those who have commented in this thread to give the MSM the benefit of the doubt or support their reporting I say to you that your opinion, and vote, is being manipulated to the advantage of the Left. Wake Up! View past vents! Pay attention to how stupid the MSM takes you for!

Michelle and Hot Air are an invaluable resource not only because of their quality content, excellent presentation, and clear rationale, but also because of the frequency of their reporting and commentary. You know, one wonders how long this has been going on. Seriously – Has AP and other news organizations been making up shit for years? Decades?

Yes, CrazyFool, that is what they have been doing.

This vent seems a little premature as the AP has stood by it’s story, refuted the military’s allegations, and fervently claimed these people do exsist and are in the Iraqi military. I’m not picking sides or saying Centcom is wrong and the AP is right–I just think it’s too early to say Centcom is right and the AP is wrong. Clearly the miltary has a history of denying involvement in things that later evidence shows it did indeed particpate in. Let’s just wait until the smoke clears until we draw conclusions.

Also, the fact that the Iraqi military can’t confirm who this guy shouldn’t suprise anyone. The miltary can’t keep insurgants out it’s ranks, can’t stop the violence, and really doesn’t appear very functional. I’m sure their personnel records aren’t exactly in alphabetical order.

Check out the headings under “VENT”. Pay extra close attention to the one that says “AP Calls Military “Ludicrous’”. So yeah I am saying that

That is the problem in a free society. Yes we need to have freedom of the press. but there is no challenges to the press when it goes off and does things that arent in the publics best interest.

We are astill in Afaganistan. We have a partnership and trety with Arab Countries in the region like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Truth be know we are going to have to fight for Iraq at some time either now or later.

My column and Vent today cover the Associated Press controversy over the six-burned-alive-Sunnis story. Shortly after I filed and taped, the AP released its statement (which I finally received this morning after my Gmail problems) and a new story on……

I see it like this. The Iraq war is over in less than two years no matter what. There’s a presidential election coming up in 2008 (you may have heard about it) and no one from either side is going to get elected on the “stay the course” platform. I refer you to the last congressional election as evidence of this. No matter what the president may believe or what some bloggers may want to believe, this thing aint gonna last forever.

Bush has two years left in office, and after that, it’s over. He go’s back to Texas to clear brush and BBQ with the Saudi Royal Family, or whatever his plans may be. And the larger Republican Party gets saddled with the consequences of his actions. If he chooses to stay in Iraq for the remainder of his presidency, than the chances of the GOP winning a single major election for the next six years are bleak at best. That means higher taxes, hillarycare, abortion on demand, gay marriage and every other left wing policy the Dems can shove down our throats. And of course, our ability to keep up the fight in the real war on terror will be tremendously weakened.

If Bush has canned Rummy’s @$$ before the election, the Republicans would still be in power. Now, he’s making the same mistake with Iraq. Bush is leading the GOP right off a cliff and nobody seems to care.

Everybody who wants to see a return to the Clinton years (minus the Republican congress), keep on cheer leading for Iraq. If you think Hillary or Barack Obama is going to stay in Iraq, guess again. We Republicans need to get on the right side of this issue NOW before we lose our entire social/economic/gwot agenda for a decade.
