Pelosi is mad Bush is blaming violence in Iraq on al Qaeda:
House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters on Wednesday that she feels it is “sad” that President Bush continues to blame Iraqi insurgent violence on al Qaeda.
“My thoughts on the president’s representations are well-known,” Pelosi said. “The 9/11 Commission dismissed that notion a long time ago and I feel sad that the president is resorting to it again.”
If it’s not al Qaeda’s fault that they are killing soldiers and innocent civilians, then who should be blamed? Bush? U.S. Soldiers? America?
Update (Bryan): What a clueless gasbag. She supported Abscam pal Murtha over Hoyer. She almost put an impeached corruptocrat in charge of House Intel. And now she shows the world that she doesn’t know what the tainted 9-11 Commission did and did not study and report on. I had low expectations for Pelosi, yet I still find her dimwitted lurching from one idiotic scene to another surprising.
And she’s going to be a couple of heartbeats from the presidency.

It stand to (liberal) reason.
Terrorist aren’t responsible for acts of terrorism, someone else (President Bush) made them do it.
Rapists aren’t responsible for attacks on chidlren, someone else made them into the mosters they are.
Murderers aren’t responsible for their murders, it is all the guns fault.

Bush. Definitely Bush. He’s making the jihadis mad. As soon as he’s gone, they’ll revert to the sweethearts they’ve been for the last 1,400 years.
Good question. Two hundred years ought to be enough vacation for anyone.

The hate America crowd is back in town. My guess is the Democrats aren’t going to do so well with such a light weight in charge. You can feel the hate and rage coming from these folks, Rangel, Hasting, Frank-furter, Conyers, Murtha … the whole lot of them. Not ready for prime time.

She can’t really be that clueless can she? The 9/11 commission was focusing on the WTC and Pentagon attacks. Iraq is another front in the War on Terror, and yes al-Qaeda has been involved in supporting and supplying the jihadists. So yes it is possible to say that AQ is invovled in Iraq and no Iraq was not directly involved in 9/11. Is that too complex a concept for Madame Speaker?

that’s astonishing. if i’m interpreting this correctly, she appears to believe that “no operational ties” means that there’s no such thing as al qaeda in iraq. no wonder she’s being so reckless with the intelligence committee nomination. she seems to believe it to be beneath her to stay even minimally abreast.

I’m not even sure I WANT to know what’s going on with the Dem leadership these days, but it seems pretty clear that wherever Rep Pelosi’s heart is on these matters, her brain is somewhere cold, and dark, and covered with spiders.
Okay, Ms. Pelosi, we’ll play your stupid little game. Who do YOU blame for the terrorism by foreign and local jihadi fighters in Iraq? Cheney? Or perhaps Bert of Bert and Ernie - after all, he’s always been a little illiberal, and he has been seen in montages with Bin Ladin! :)
And what do you think it is that Al Qaeda does, anyway? I mean, what “industry” are they in, if it’s not fomenting violence, chaos and disorder? Interior design? Catering?
Then again, being from San Francisco, these things are probably “thruthy” in her world.

I would say that the violence in Iraq is probably mostly due to religeous tensions and historical hatreds between Sunnis and Shiites. These are being fanned by al Qaeda, and Iran and Syria.
So let’s assume that we were able to kill or capture every al Qaeda member who was in Iraq, and to do the same to every al Qaeda member who entered Iraq to replace them. And thus we have completely removed al Qaeda from having any influence in Iraq. I don’t think that this would mean that the situation in Iraq would go back to peace and stability. The violence might abate somewhat. But I don’t think it would disapear.
EFG on November 28, 2006 at 5:12 PM
The violence in the ME is ageless and timeless, Old MO invented his little program to try and keep the fighting among themselves under check long enough to loot and pillage the rest of the world to get the things they are incapable of producing themselves.I don’t ever see an end to violence there ever.

Geez, I certainly hope that al Qaeda is paying close attention to Bela, er… Nancy.
It wouuld be a crying shame if they targeted landmarks like, oh I don’t know, the Golden Gate Bridge, the cable cars, the Transamerica Pyramid, Coit Tower, and Chinatown, just to name a few.
That would be terrible. Wouldn’t it?

I am tired of the ignorance!
It is clear that Iraq had the Salman Pak training center along the Tigris River. It is also clear that this training center housed an airline fuselage with no flight line, not place for the aircraft to take off and land, along with other equipment, such as a train and other equipment, on which terrorists were trained, in exactly the way the 9/11 terrorists behaved - small groups, armed with short, easily osbcured cutting devices, to jump up and shout and terrorize the passengers and crew and take over the aircraft.
Most of their flying lessons took place here, under our own noses, under our own liberties and freedoms. They used our own goodness against us. Now they are being rewarded again and again and again and again by our on politicians!
It is sick!
Yes, Iraq DID have a part in 9/11, and other terrorist activity, including training, financing, and other.
And yes, there were WMDs found in Iraq. We all know it, why is it being ignored? It was even revealed a few months ago again.
What did people think we would find after allowing this freak, Saddam Hussein, almost one year, plus the 11 or so years prior to that - after the cease fire agreement, to hide his arsenal? Saddam played chicken with the UN and the US for more than 11 years since that cease fire, and the UN was found to be corrupt, skimming millions out of the oil for food program.
Give a liar, deceiver like Saddam enough time, let him play around and taunt and tease as he did, and you think he could not end up looking like the cat who ate the canary.
“Hey, what happened to the canary?”
“Canary? What canary? Burrrrp!”
Bush and Rice have let us down. They are not serious in this war against Jihadis. They appease, they praise the Jihadis, making the false claim that Islam if a Religion of Peace, and, with Bush and Congress, they are not securing the borders and are allowing amnesty for millions of invaders.
No. They are not taking this seriously!
It sucks!
Are we all dihmmies yet?

The answer is: all of the above with special emphasis on the soldiers - being a fine example of the democratic party that she is. I’m sure if the soldiers weren’t there stirring up all that trouble, then the insurgents would all just go back to their peaceful lives. *cough*
thedecider on November 28, 2006 at 7:16 PM
It’s abundantly clear Pelosi means the majority of Americans killed in Iraq are the result of them trying to referee the Sunni/Shia civil war that’s raging through Baghdad and other parts of the country. Yes al-Qaeda is there, yes they kill us sometimes, but when Bush blames them for the insurgant violence/civil war it means he’s either lying or he’s ignoring reality. Both of which he has history with. Regardless, if you remove al-Qaeda from the equation Sunni and Shia are still killing each other and Americans are still dying in the middle.
Stories like this are the right wing’s crack. Most threads sit around for days with 20 or so posts, then there is a chance to say Democrats love terrorists and an hour later….50 posts. By tomorrow there will be 150. Enjoy the fodder. You’ve had a rough month.
JaHerer22 on November 28, 2006 at 7:17 PM
They are trying to thwart a democracy in the making. They target civilians and Iraqi interests (police recruiting stations) to scare the civilians away from whatever form of self-government can be realized. To imply they have some moral code of respect for fellow muslims is bizarre since these people are, terrorists. Such a code of conduct didn’t stop the Taliban, it didn’t stop al-qaeda, and it won’t stop the insurgents - many of whom are not even Iraqi’s.
thedecider on November 28, 2006 at 7:21 PM
President Bush blames the violence on al Qaeda. Ms. Pelosi, GregH and JaHerer22 blame it on the American soldiers and especially on Mr. Bush.
I blame it on the ‘insurgents’, except I don’t like the term. I blame it on the violent.
Entelechy on November 28, 2006 at 7:27 PM

Heaven knows I’m no military strategist, but wouldn’t it make more sense for them to unite the factions to fight the Americans and the new government, instead of encouraging them to kill each other and deplete their manpower and ordinance? Sounds a lot like the nonsensical argument that we didn’t find WMDs because Saddam cleverly shipped them to Syria instead of using them to fight the invasion.
Constantine on November 28, 2006 at 7:45 PM
But if they are shooting at our boys, we can take them down. We haven’t lost a battle in Iraq.
How do we shoot at when they are shooting each other?
And then media screams Quagmire! Civil War! Retreat! Defeat!
This isn’t a war that is being lost on the battlefield, this is a war that is being lost in the media. They know that if the death toll rolls up, even if it isn’t our boys dying, that Americans will get sick of the war, and lose heart.
Eventually, people like yourself will force the military to give the terrorists what they wants… Iraq, on a silver platter.
So go ahead, keep cheer-leading for Osama…

HowWho do we shoot at when they are shooting each other?E L Frederick (Sniper One) on November 28, 2006 at 7:56 PM
That’s magical thinking. Al Qaeda’s chances of uniting the Shia, Sunni, and Kurds in Iraq are even worse than those of the US (after all, what can you possibly think of that a small group of Wahhabi terrorists would have to offer Iraq’s Shiite majority?). Throw in the fact that the US also wants consolidation, and that Al Qaeda’s strategic objective is merely to thwart US efforts in the region, and it’s clear that you’re not only not a military strategist, you (thankfully) wouldn’t even make a good terrorist.
Blacklake on November 28, 2006 at 8:01 PM
I’m no military strategist either and, I agree, it would make more sense for them to unite against the US military yet, they don’t. Doesn’t it make you curious to know why? My opinion is that they know a face to face confrontation with the world’s most sophisticated military power will result in their undisputed defeat. So, they must change the target. They can’t win against the US military presence so they target the political aims of the Bush administration (a.k.a. democracy) by hitting civilian targets that represent those aims.
thedecider on November 28, 2006 at 8:04 PM
Constantine,
The factions are maneuvering for power so an alliance would be counter productive. Furthermore, if they united then they would be easy targets. I think their goal is to create chaos and weakent the resolve of the U.S. It’s easier to do this in small bands through guerilla warfare.
p.s. if being a webmaster is so cool how come you don’t spend some time on your site? It looks like crap and hasn’t been updated for three weeks. No offense intended, just some constructive criticism.

Just ignore that the war is immoral and ill-advised from the start, then blame the media for reporting what’s going on. Have you considered that we’re unintentionally enabling the violence because those perpetrating it know we’ll prevent total collapse while they act on their sectarian hatred?
Believe it or not, even people who hate the war still feel a sense of responsibility for cleaning up the mess that BushCo. has created, even as you repeat the phrase “cut and run” until you’re foaming at the mouth. So I don’t see that happening.

RightWinged on November 28, 2006 at 9:00 PM
The first problem is, people put too much stock into the 9/11 commission. In my opinion, it was deeply flawed. Another key point that isn’t discussed much, is that back in ‘03 and ‘04, we were fighting a large number of foreign terrorists, Al Qaeda become more invloved, then the terrorists figured out they could start blowing up Sunnis and/or Shiites and making it look like the other side was doing it.
There is no need to unite the factions, because it just increases the chaos and fog of war. Just like the rest of the middle east, it seems we more more groups fighting a war by proxy, by supporting/instigating/maniuplating another entity.
The war wasn’t ill-advised from the start, I’m not even going to adress the immoral part, that’s just silly liberal BS. the mistakes were made after the war, when we decided to fight with both our hands tied behind our backs. Everyone knows the effect the media has an any war, since 1968. Everyone wants to be the next Cronkite. The reporting has been slanted to show the US in the worst way possible.
This war would have went much differently if everyone was on the same team, so, in my opinion, the left and the media deserve at least 67% of the blame.

Pelosi did not understand to question, I could barely hear the question my self. Al qaeda is a problem NOW, but so is the civil war, I mean sectarian squirmishes. The point, al qaeda was not an issue in Iraq before March 2003. Now that’s not the case, they’re clearly there now. As a moderate I’m tired of having to defend the Dems against right rhetoric and hate, some of you all repeat. I’m an American and want America to win, GOP or Dem, I don’t care who gets the job done, but I want what’s best for the people, not one party or the other.
YOUR WISH FOR THE DEMS TO FAIL IS LIKE WANTING THE TERRIORIST TO WIN.
Is Bush denial, delusional or just determined?
THERE ARE NO GOOD IDEAS OR OPTIONS LEFT, SO WE ARE GOING BACK TO “STAY THE COURSE”. The admin got us in there, without enough ground troops, dismantaled the Iraq military and just screwed it up. FACT. BTW the US military are the best bunch of men and woman and we owe them a great debt. They are doing great.
FOR THOSE BLAMING or IMPLYING IT’S THE SOLDIERS ARE AT FAILT IS AS LOW AS IT GETS. SHAME ON YOU. IF YOU DENIGRATE THE SERVICE OF OUR MILITARY MEN AND WOMAN TO MY FACE I’D KNOCK YOU ON YOU ASS. SHUT UP!
To admit that there’s a civil war is admit failure. Yes we are failing and we can blame, bush, Chaney, rumsfeld and to GOP ran congress and senate. This has been the common theme of the Bush admin from the beginning, denial. The ability to deal with the reality has been missing from either arrogance or incompetency. This latest, THERE IS NO CIVIL WAR BS, to save face, Bush’s face, while soldiers are killed everyday is a shame and surprised Pelosi did not into Bush, she just looked SAD, which is an appropriate emotion.
2883 killed, last: 11/28: Staff Sgt. Daniel M. Morris, 28, of Clinton, Tenn., died Nov. 25 in Al Judiah, Iraq, IED. That is what is going on. Drive around and get blown up, or caught in the civil war cross fire. We need to get them out of their. It will not be the end of the world fear mongers. Constantine, the Democrats DIDN’T win this past election. the Republicans lost, because they didn’t remain loyal to their conservative base. had they remain loyal to the conservative base, then the Republicans would still be in power & not trying to “cut & run” like you liberals want to. btw - E L is right you liberals are cheering for Osama to beat the U.S. & you liberals do want the U.S. to lose the war on terror.

remember this Constantine, “Democrats - the cut & run / Raise the white flag / Surrender / Pro-Amnesty / Pro Terrorist” party. i’m sure that you & other liberals are very proud to be part of that party.

Why do the libs come here? Are they recruiting?
Golfer_75093 on November 29, 2006 at 8:45 AM
Maybe they (libs) are here to justify their actions in helping the jihadis.

As Osama bin Laden puts it: “In this final phase of the ongoing struggle, the world of the infidels was divided between two superpowers — the United States and the Soviet Union. Now we have defeated the more dangerous of the two. Dealing with the pampered and effeminate Americans will be easy.” And then followed what has become the familiar description of the Americans and the usual litany and recitation of American defeats and retreats: Vietnam, Beirut, Somalia, one after another. The general theme was: They can’t take it. Hit them and they’ll run. All you have to do is hit harder.

The American voters will wake up someday and take a look at the woman they went to bed with and (hopefully) realize what a mistake they made.

What any reasonable person would glean from this video. What bullshit.
