Video: The DNC’s latest campaign commercial
posted at 10:04 am on November 27, 2006 by Allahpundit
Technically, it’s not a campaign commercial. And technically, it wasn’t produced by the DNC. But close enough on both counts.
Thanks to RLW for the tip.

OK,so if I’ve got this right, they are saying that with Dems that are vets they can better eviscerate the Armed Forces and change American history by saying no to war? WHo are they taking the hill for anyway?

Stop the damn blinking Mccain ads!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LakeRuins on November 27, 2006 at 10:11 AM
That is bold for a political party that has done more to destroy our military capability than most enemies have.
DAT60A3 on November 27, 2006 at 10:19 AM
Weren’t all those whose party affiliation was posted on that video labelled “D” for Democrat?
Is there anyone out there who still denies that there is clear, overwhelming liberal bias in the news media and Hollywood, two of the largest influences in the political landscape?

One of the voiceovers declares, “You survive a combat tour and you think, ‘Hey, man, I can do better than that.’” So, he’s saying that combat isn’t that bad? If so, then why are we concerned about our soldiers? And, following the logic here, if combat is no big deal, then why would you care to solicit 100 veterans for a tough job, since combat apparently didn’t prepare them for anything?

Yeah McCain’s name alone gives me seizures.
liberrocky on November 27, 2006 at 10:34 AM
Yes the ad is annoying as he is.
Wade on November 27, 2006 at 10:39 AM
Yup, we need more Tammy Duckworth.
Aren’t these the same kind of people Rangel and Kerry call stupid?
JammieWearingFool on November 27, 2006 at 10:42 AM
And so it begins – this is a paltry attempt by the Dems to align themselves with the military. Instead of promoting an anti-war agenda, now that the Dems have office they’ll begin their back pedalling and revert to the standard Dem tactic of trying to be everything to everyone.
Have a spine. Pick a side, and stick with it.
GregH on November 27, 2006 at 10:43 AM
You cannot blame the Democrats for taking advantage of a public-relations windfall.
You can blame Tom Reynolds and Sally Vastola. Incompetence!
Ali-Bubba on November 27, 2006 at 10:44 AM
What does this say about the Dem old timers?

JammieWearingFool on November 27, 2006 at 11:16 AM
There are straight documentaries on Disc/Times, but it really amazes me how much of the programming comes across so slanted. Maybe there will be a real attempt to see all the sides on this one from dissenting/pro-war vets, comparisons to post-WWII, and that a lot of these Dems are more socially conservative than their party wants to admit.
But at the end of the day these people are now just another batch of politicians and I don’t feel like getting misty-eyed over some true story that started life as the gleam in a producers eye after he got done reading a DNC press release.

Looks to me like the Democraps have their own propoganda TV channel.

Just proves that the Dems will say anything, doesn’t it.

GregH, the troll writes: “this is a paltry attempt by the Dems to align themselves with the military.”
Please don’t feed the troll.

FYI – Tammy Duckworth, Dem candidate for congress who was defeated on 11/7, was appointed to the post of director of the State of Illinois’ department of veterans administration about two weeks ago by Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Illinois is a state that is very “veteran-friendly,” especially to reserivsts and guardsmen who were called up after 9/11/01.
In addition to a “just because” grant of $500 for every Illinois reservist/guardsman who served in Iraq or Afghanistan, they can receive a $5000 grant to go towards the downpayment for the purchase of a first house as well.
Also, Illinois provides 4 year full rides to any Illinois state university for any Illinois reservist/guardsman who is deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will provide 3 years of graduate school as well. Add the 3 years they could earn under the Montegomery Bill, and Illinois residents who are National Guard or Army/USAF/USMC/USN reservists (I don’t know if there are reserve Coasties, but it would apply to them, too), can have up to 10 years of college and post-grad college tuition paid for at one of the nation’s most prestigeous universites.
As everyone who reads the scribblings I do here, it ought to be clear that I am NOT a [spit!] Democrat. But appointing Duckworth (a double amputee Iraq war veteran) to this job is a stroke of good fortune for all veterans living in Illinois.

Lol! DiscoveryTIMES channel… nothing to worry about there!

Obviously these are the stupid and people that have no other opportunities.
Just following their leadership group think.
Wil on November 27, 2006 at 1:55 PM
And what, exactly, has the Democratic Party done for the United States military?
That’s like muslims making a video about all the wonderful things they have done for pigs.
Black Adam on November 27, 2006 at 2:09 PM
Duddn’t “DNC” and “scrape” have the same meaning?
james hooker on November 27, 2006 at 3:03 PM
We need cable reform. I should not have to pay for the “Times”, msnbc, cnn etc. Demand ala carte!
infidel on November 27, 2006 at 4:08 PM
If those 50 were volunteers than the Dems consider them stupid and mindless, if they fought in a war then they were murderers and rapists. Everywhere they turn they have painted themselves in a corner.
I love those Dems, the more they talk the more they hang themselves.
right2bright on November 27, 2006 at 4:59 PM
Can I say this? They sure have balls pretending that the left dominated democraps are pro military!!! Who are they trying to fool?
Zorro on November 27, 2006 at 6:52 PM
It does make it very hard to read with that blinking ad. I would NEVER buy anything from those guys for the duration that ad is present. I would not want to encourage those types of ads. Sometimes an ad just makes potential buyers angry, and they do more harm for the business than good, and I think that is one of them.

If, and when, the american left succeeds if duping the american body politic into pulling out of iraq before the country is stabalized. We (the american people, not just us watchful partisans on the right) will see them for what they truly are. An anti-military and anti-american entity who will do anything required to undermine our soverngty. They align themselves with out enemies because they believe that our enemies can hasten our retreat from our core values. And that they (the american left) can surplant our core values with theirs (the american lefts). The only problem with this method is that americas enemies are just as much hostile to their values (the american lefts) as well as our values (the real america). And in this manner when islam strikes our shores again as it has in 911, the real americans will no longer care to listen to the drivel of the american left. WHen that happens, we can finally take care of the business at hand without any interferance from the american left. Just as the isolationist and pacifist were co-signed to the margins in WWII.

Didn’t they accuse Mr. Bush of having one for so many years? They would be attacked for not being ‘nuanced’ and ‘balanced’, or part of the U.N. and multi-culti spineless one-world Euro-
lambs-crowd. One must always belong!Entelechy on November 28, 2006 at 1:12 AM
Well, you can’t really use this as an example of media bias. You’ll notice that this is on the Discovery Times channel, which if I recall correctley no longer has any relation to the Discovery Channel, but is owned by the New York Crimes. With that said, I’m rather surprised that it’s not a salute to other ‘veterans’ throughout history, like, you know, Che.
