Video: Barney Frank accuses Chris Wallace of bias on Fox News Sunday

This makes three Democrats who have used Fox’s air time to complain about Fox since Clinton had his meltdown a few months ago: Barbara Boxer, Dean-o (on election night, I believe), and now Frank.
Mr. Frank said the questions were “appropriate” but misleading because of an introduction in which Mr. Wallace said the interview would inform viewers about what the Democratic chairmen planned to do with their new majority. “It was misleading advertising,” the congressman said.
O’Reilly said today on his radio show that sources tell him that the DNC is putting people up to this.
In fairness to Frank, Wallace’s opening question was weak. It’s fair game to ask whether the Dems feel beholden to the nutroots, but it’s not something you lead with. On the other hand, the stuff about the draft and Alcee Hastings is all over the papers; he’d have been a fool not to ask that upfront, and Frank knows that but he baited him anyway. If he doesn’t like the fact that those subjects are newsworthy at the moment, let him take it up with Pelosi.
Here are the questions CW asked in the first few minutes followed by BF’s admonishment. Judge for yourself. FYI, the New York Sun and NYC’s CBS affiliate picked up Rangel’s comments about the troops, but I think the storm has otherwise passed. Although I’ll bet you Brit Hume picks it up for “Grapevine” tonight. Any takers?

Accusing FoxNews of having a conservative bias is like accusing water of being wet.

Barney Frank is such a breath of fresh air. I’ve seen him call out correspondents, contributors and assorted “specialists” many times over the years. He has a knack for bringing the debate back to point, and not letting his opponents get away with misdirection.
GregH on November 27, 2006 at 3:26 PM
Anyone else think Barney Frank and Buddy Hacket are twin brothers separated at birth?
Lone Star on November 27, 2006 at 3:27 PM
I have no doubt that’s true. Fox is the only relatively independent television news source out there, nothwithstanding snide comments to the contrary (see above). The nonsense will stop when some of the vast array of Democrats I see on FNC repudiate this.
Fox has challenged the status quo. That’s why it must be undermined by the left.
JammieWearingFool on November 27, 2006 at 3:29 PM
So is Barney still keeping a concubine or has he made a honest, er , whatever out of his special friend.
/not that there is anything wrong with that
//unless you have an (R) behind your name.

Barney Frank a breath of fresh air? He ought to stop and take a breath once in a while.
JammieWearingFool on November 27, 2006 at 3:31 PM
Barney Frank? When did he crawl out from under his rock? This is a concerted attack on Fox. Aren’t they happy with ABC,CBS,NBC,PBS,Time, Newsweek, LA Times, SF Chronicle…should I gone on, and on, and on and on? This “guy” is a hack! He wouldn’t know truth if it hit him smack between the eyes.
He needs to get over himself!
sharinlite on November 27, 2006 at 3:32 PM
Just below the surface, lying in waiting. Waiting for ears ignorant of liberal agendas and the consequeces of liberal control, the hatred and deceiving rhetoric of the Democrat Party. It won’t be long until it’s unleashed…

They are just pissed because unlike everyone else, Fox isn’t biased FOR the DNC.

I haven’t watched TV in quite some time. Can someone tell me if there are any GOP Congresscritters getting on TV or do the Dems have a monopoly? Seems to me this is a Democrat strategy to control the debate with ever more ridiculous and controversial bloviations.

Funny how Frank brings in Newt as someone who made mistakes in his past and was censured however the subject was about Alcee Hastings’ impeachment! Maybe he’d have the gumballs to say he made a mistake “renting to a friend” (wink wink) that turned his condo into a whorehouse. Or maybe he could have mentioned Clinton and the stain on the blue dress? Certainly that was a mistake.
Nah, that wouldn’t satisfy his puppet masters needs!!
JohnnyD on November 27, 2006 at 3:46 PM
Try accusing the MSM of having a liberal slant and see what it gets you.
William Amos on November 27, 2006 at 3:47 PM
Has Barney Frank ever had a pap smear?
JammieWearingFool on November 27, 2006 at 3:49 PM
Denial!

Yes. They found Al Franken.
And yeast. Lots and lots of yeast.
natesnake on November 27, 2006 at 3:52 PM
Yes, accuse the only network that doesn’t act as a sword and shield for the DNC of being “biased”.
ReubenJCogburn on November 27, 2006 at 3:53 PM
Whining over the media, who does Frank think he is, a Republican??
:^)
honora on November 27, 2006 at 3:56 PM
Gee I wonder if Oberdunce will name Chris to his Most Dangerous list? That has got to be a badge of honor among conservatives. Maybe they can start sending out real trophies.

Thank you, Lone Star!

When you have a liberal media which regularly LIES to the PUBLIC on behalf of the DemoNcratic Party, a reasonable question can sound like a partisan attack. You must realize how far this goes. The media is not just BIASED in favor of DEMONCRATS, the media is largely comprised of same, it’s what they are! And as such, they will lie, cheat and steal to maintain power for their people. Think I’m exaggerating, even a little?
1. What would you call a trip from the United States to France? Answer. An INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT. Not a Domestic one? Answer. No because both ends of the trip would have to occur WITHIN the United States in order for such a flight to be “Domestic”.
2. How would you send a package from the United States to Libya? Answer. INTERNATIONAL MAIL.
3. How would your phone bill classify a call between the United States and Afghanistan? Answer. INTERNATIONAL PHONE CALL with applicable charges. Again, not Domestic? Answer. No phone company in the world will let you pay “domestic” rates for a call originating here and ending in another country.
How does the U.S media, characterize a phone call between a traitor in the United States and his co-conspirators in Iran? Answer.
“DOMESTIC” WIRETAPPING.
When this is the level of “scrutiny” you’re used to from the press, even a politely phrased query from the genteel Chris Wallace, would seem like an attack!
Soothsayer on November 27, 2006 at 4:08 PM
Bias…
The MSM is biased for the Democrats and the Enemy. Proven time and time again.
Try posting in the comments section of these news sites, such as ABC Brian Ross’ Blotter page. They actively “moderate” out of existence comments that are critical of their reporting.
For instance I repeatedly commented on the blog there that they should not be reporting or detailing the security details fo the Bush twins in Argentina. As this might encourage the enemey and provide them information that could cause them and the US harm. But, ala, my comments never appear. Moderated out of existence. Meanwhile the inane leftist venom is allowed to thrive.
I would wager the moderator of such comments is a raving looney and thus is actively censoring anything critical of ABC News or the report in question.
Sad times we lvie in, that the media uses it power to broadcast the messages of our enemy and leak information to the enemy.
How can we win a war in such a climate?
James on November 27, 2006 at 4:14 PM
Oh. My. Gosh. Someone get Barney the Dinosaur a hanky. A Midol. A fresh hygiene pad.
What an unbelievable set of comments. He throws a hissy fit because he didn’t get a steady stream of softballs? I have to ask, how do you think the left would take it if [insert name of any conservative or Republican here] got upset because they were asked the controversial questions? If a right-leaning individual indulged in a similar whinefest, they’d get hammered for “attempting to control the press” or some similar crime.
The questions are topical, relevant, and significant. That they are discomfiting to the beaurocrats whose positions they represent speaks volumes.
Is Chris trying to make up for the anti-Americanism of that other Wallace by actually forcing liberals to talk about hard issues? His credibility is rising.
Frank calling Fox biased and “substantially worse” to deal with is high praise, indeed. Fox should be proud.

Great point, Soothsayer.

Blog in question:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/11/us_embassy_asks.html
Try posting something non-critical of the report but critical of the twins. See it get posted. Then try posting something critical of the report and supporting the twins. Watch it get disappeared.
Really is sad when you think about it.
James on November 27, 2006 at 4:16 PM
Chris is just trying to get his journalistic name out of the sh*tter. Good on him.
seejanemom on November 27, 2006 at 4:35 PM
My alter-ego J C got a message through parroting all the leftist points. But, the comment critical of ABC for reporting the details was and still is not posted. Active censorship by the media preventing viewpoints critical of their reporting is BIAS. Especially when they are leaking details of security detail for the Bush Twins to the enemy.
Hmmmmm.
I just posted this there. Let’s see if it appears.
James on November 27, 2006 at 4:37 PM
Barney Frank . . . another byproduct of the brilliant electorate in this this sick society.

Let me get this straight. Is Barney calling for a probe of Chris Wallace.
It’s evident that ole Barn is still upset over losing his status in the House. Everything went downhill for him when he realized that Dick Armey was wasn’t a euphemism.
there it is on November 27, 2006 at 4:54 PM
Did someone say Barning was thinking of probing Chris Wallance during the interview?
PinkyBigglesworth on November 27, 2006 at 5:03 PM
I wonder if Barney Frank knows that Chris Wallace has been a card-carrying Democrat for over 20 years. That said, kudos to Chris Wallace for being far more balanced in his questioning regardless of one’s party affiliation.

Foxnews dares to ask questions and they are biased. Day in and day out the right and conservatives are treated to the bias of the rest of the media.
The rest of the media actively censor and silence critical voices. The rest of the media recast things in their ow image and persepctive. They use half truths and out of context reports and selective reporting to promote their view.
The rest of the media are in collusion with the enemy. That is how I see it. They need to be treated as such and we the people need to challenge them everyday and supplant these fake journalists who have only school education from a leftist professor and no real world experience.
Used to be the media was born out of small town newspapers and television stations. Now, the media is born out of the classroom where hate for America is preached.
Stop paying for or using the rest of the media. Let market forces drive it out of existence.
There should be a free press, not a bought and paid for by the DNC and our enemies press.
James on November 27, 2006 at 5:09 PM
He should’ve asked about the brothel in Franks’s basement.
spmat on November 27, 2006 at 5:15 PM
To be fair, it was Barney Frank that pressed the issue which ultimately cost Eason Jordan his job.
Barney has his moments of lucidity.
Pablo on November 27, 2006 at 5:21 PM
Tell it to Karl Rove, Barney.
Pablo on November 27, 2006 at 5:23 PM
James, you are exactly correct. After reading the article, I tried three times, and the comment moderator killed the first two entirely, then edited the third.
My post read:
Here is what got through after being edited:
I suppose I should be happy that anything got through, but this leaves my post relatively toothless. And it leaves us all to wonder how many other posts are clipped and snipped at the whim of someone paid by ABC. Shall we all ask them?
Freelancer on November 27, 2006 at 5:50 PM
James and Free, that’s great work there, great work. Just goes to show you , y’know? All their talk of “freedom of speech” and “sharing ideas” when they are the true BOOK BURNERS, aren’t they?
Soothsayer on November 27, 2006 at 6:10 PM
Right Sooth, but stay away from “Heather Has Two Mommies”, they’ll string you up if you mess with that little liberal tome.
bbz123 on November 27, 2006 at 6:19 PM
It’s amazing how “conservative” FOX News looks when compared to the other media news outlets.
Troy Rasmussen on November 27, 2006 at 6:51 PM
These libs are so accustomed to their media kissing their asses that they are aghast when they are asked a pointd question.
Expect more outrage should there be a reveal of their subterfuge.
“Before Mr. Frank’s most vociferous objection, Mr. Wallace had asked questions mentioning pressure from liberal Democratic activists, tax hikes on the wealthy, abortion, gay rights and the ban on gays in the armed forces, a military draft, the disputed chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee….” – article.
Those are just some of the topics the dems don’t want to discuss. They just happen to be ones we are waiting to be answered.
doingwhatican on November 27, 2006 at 7:10 PM
Free and James: I tried to post there about the US Embassy’s denial it “strongly suggested” the twins leave, which is at the top of Drudge. I more than suggested the Blotter is based on nothing. Guess what? They didn’t post my message!
laelaps on November 27, 2006 at 8:03 PM
Evidently, for liberals it is automatically considered a partisian attack to be asked any question in which the premise the interviewer uses doesnt implicity agree with you.
Resolute on November 27, 2006 at 8:38 PM
You don’t suppose the Dems could have it “in for” Chris Wallace since he made their fearless leader Bill Clinton have a meltdown on national TV a few months ago do you?
Maxx on November 27, 2006 at 9:42 PM
These Dems are just being little bitches because they like to have a soapbox like they do on other networks and they only want the administration to endure grilling. This is no different than Dean being a pussy and refusing to make joint appearances with Mehlman. He basically admitted it’s because he’s weak and wrong when he said that he won’t do it because then the spectacle becomes the debate and he can’t get his message out. It’s interviews douche bag, not a press release.
DNC? Maybe. KOS? Definitely.
It’s very much something to lead with, because the nutroots run their party now and are the mainstream mindset.
RightWinged on November 27, 2006 at 9:57 PM
For some reason I thought Barney Frank was dead but honestly it could have been some other corrupt Democrat pervert they are really hard to tell apart. Then again a lot of DEMS apparently vote from the grave why can’t they hold office from there too.
Buzzy on November 27, 2006 at 10:11 PM
Odd that I keep hearing about Fox’s bias on f’ing Fox News. Chris Wallace has THREE DEMOCRATS on, with no Republicans, and we are supposed to feel sorry for them–because of the bias, see—when he asks them tough questions?
The immeasurable stupidity of the people who buy that is astounding… GregH, sorry, but your just not a very intelligent person if you take Barney Frank’s “idiot-bait”.

Chris Wallace should have asked the esteemed Barney Frank about the testimony in U.S. District Court to Judge Warren Urbom in sworn testimony on February 5, 1999:
Pedophile victim Paul Bonacci–kidnapped and forced into sex slavery between the ages of 6 and 17 testified:
Chris Wallace
Congressman Frank, do you dispute the sworn testimony by Paul Bonacci?
