I agree. I’m morbidly fascinated by the concept of Hitler as a normal person, flirting with Eva. It feels… odd. -- Esthier

...find a copy (Blockbusters, etc.) of "Downfall" with Bruno Ganz. It's in German with subtitles, but is as close to seeing Hitler as a person -- never "normal" -- as you're ever going to see. It's bone-chilling in places. There was even a little controversy when it came out in Germany that it "humanized" Hitler.

You can humanize Hitler about as easily as you can have a lox and bagels and bridge over with the Husseins after Uday and Qusay go out to the sock hop.

Excellent treatment of the subject. The last days of the Third Reich...with St. Petersburg standing in for Berlin. Ironic.

...who said it? Heinrich Himmler, in one of Eva Braun's "home movies", silent but recently scanned with lip reading software.

What sorts of things was he working on, you have to ask yourself.

Gawd, I hate seeing the play chart up to Holmgren’s mouth ’cause it means he’s calling a play and that usually ends in disaster.

It will be okay. Hasselbeck will be back on Monday. He knows when to audible out of Holmgren's play into something that will work. Unlike last Sunday's 4th and 2 play to Alexander. Oy.

Film shot towards the end of the war shows Hitler complaining about tremors in his arm, giving more credence to the theory that he was suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

So, Hitler had Parkinson's Disease? Wait, Michael J. Fox has Parkinson's Disease; Bush isn't Hitler, MICHAEL J. FOX IS HITLER! Or at least the Evil Anti-Elvis...

Is there a coach that you CAN’T lipread? I think its pretty obvious what most of them are saying on the sideline. And its not “aw shucks” either :)

Most NFL football coaches are savvy about lip readers and will shield their mouths with a play chart when they call the play into the quarterback. Then are those "unscripted" moments when it is plain as day what is being said, such as Pete Carroll of USC swearing across the sidelines at Mike Bellotti of my beloved Oregon Ducks.

Well I thought of Pilooser. Sounded like her type of 'woman' talk, whatever that means. But HH?

The software is astounding. Just imagine what will be known from here on out about what people are saying. In a few years, there will be a handheld insta-reader, SW for your PDA. Lookout coaches and potty mouths.

I'll look forward to this on TV too. I am not too sure if I believe lip reading software - isn't the timing on old movies only 30 frames per second instead of 40? Wouldn't that alter what is thought to be said?
