A reading comprehension course would tell you that I implied that it was the racist apologists on this site that were light in the “understanding persecution department”, not Michael Richards. He’s just an asshole. He’s always been one and yes I know him. One is a registered Republican, the other a libertarian–though, in practice they are pretty much pure libertarian. To quote one of them, “I hate conservatives, but I really f—ing hate liberals.”

The two guys were heckling him, right? They were black. Richards is Jewish. Is it possible that Richards perceived their heckling to be racist or anti-Semitic, and got the (ill-advised) idea that it would be “ironic” to respond in an over-the-top racist manner?

We have no idea what happened before the video began — what the hecklers said to him that might have (in his mind) justified such behavior. On the other hand, maybe years of “Seinfeld” stardom created a prima donna attitude in Richards’ mind, where he felt entitled to abuse people this way.

There’s got to be some explanation. A multimillionaire TV star, an experienced performer, doesn’t just “go off” like this. It doesn’t make sense.

Nothing conservative about him, except for his willingness to give time to conservatives without demonizing them.
