My how we pine for the old days when the media was American, and supported American values. Unlike today, where the likes of Mike Wallace can tell us how he doesn't report news as an American, or (further back) how Walter Cronkite helped us lose the war in Vietnam. Anyway, gone are the "days". But fortunately, we have the web and great contributors to our information age such as (of course) Hot Air and Michelle Malkin, and the new "Clear Glass Productions" which I look forward to seeing more of. Thanks, Michelle, for bringing this to us.

What if today's mainstream media were covering World War II? That's the premise of "This is DNN," which Hot Air has a clip of. Great stuff. And they say conservatives have no sense of humor? ...

Thank You Michelle for the New Sources of Information and Links! More alternatives to the MSM! Yes!

FDR and WWII mark a time when the United States Government realized a necessary fundamental of winning a war is unity on the home front. Common purpose, common values, common goals come not only from a good cause that makes sense, but also from recognizing the inevitable sedition and treason that infiltrates the home front in any war.

In WWII the United States maintained it's unity and common purpose by drawing a line between Freedom of the Press, Discent, Sedition, and Treason. That line has been almost non-existant since the 1960s and has turned into our single biggest weakness.

Our enemies in Vietnam and Iraq both catered to the Left to support their cause. Their victories were not military, they were political that were supported by our own Left. Even in this last month insurgent offensives in Iraq were timed not gain military advantage but to aid the Left in our own elections.

I envy the clarity, the purpose, the common values of those in the 1940s. Theirs was a tough fight, but they had the common sense to understand how essential maintaining unity on the home front is. Unfortunately we do not have leadership that recognizes this crucial requisite in any military victory.

I loved the newsreel presentation! There is a great book that was published years ago written by George J. A. O'Toole "Honorable Treachery" that has a few chapters on WWII treason. I think y'all would enjoy it.

By the way, here's wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sorry, EL. I didn't mean to impugn. I was just observing that as a blonde "all-American" girl, she could hardly pass as a bedouin. But now that I think about it, she would probably be covered in a burqa, so maybe it's fine.

Somebody's still> trying to justify Bush's War On Terror by attempting to draw a parallel with WWII? Good luck with that.

But kudos for supporting independent film.

I loved the festival screening of the new Joel Surnow (Writer/Producer “24”) comedy news pilot “This Just In”, which is supposedly set for airing on Fox News.

But the festival highlight (for me anyway) was Border War ...which I highly recommend that everyone see.

Actually what the Trib published was a joint staff study called the 'Victory Program,' which was devised by the British and American military officials about sharing resources and materiel if the US joined the war. (I think) It was somewhat out of date by then, but nevertheless, the fact that it was leaked would have had serious implications for FDR had the Japanese not attacked a few days later. I don't think Rainbow Five, which was the US's war plan for fighting Japan and Germany, was leaked.

Effective advertising for sure - I've definitely got to see 'This is DNN' now, and I hope there is more like it in the pipeline. When it comes to parodying moonbats, there is a gold mine's worth of material out there.

(Sniper One)-

Always though Spongebob looked suspiciously like a yellow Ka'aba. Which I took to be a slur on the manhood of jihadis.

Or am I reading too much into the kids' cartoons' messages?

I'm trying to find Woody Allen's email address online, via functionaries, even... but no luck so far.

Here's the T-shirt LOGO they can sell to promote the movie:

I'm still waiting for Woody Allen to make a film on "The Life of Mohammad"- in protest for the murder of his cinematic colleague Theo Van Gogh, and starring Mel Gibson the "prophet", of course. (They're scouting for a cute 9 year old girl, right now, to play his child bride Aiyesha)

Allen's been angling to become a 'serious' film director since "Manhattan".

This film would elevate him into the league with Ford, Huston, Bergman and DeSica.

Come on, Wood Man, put down that licorice stick and tell the real story.

It'll make David Lean sit up. (And that's a feat.)

Great idea! Why not use all the media available. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words? Something tells me the left might take this as the real thing though.

Super idea, Michelle. People don't seem to get just how much influence the "arts" (scare quotes usually necessary these days) have, and how poisonous they can be in the wrong hands. I bet the national security experts in Hollyhood are more scared of the Liberty Film Festival (and the great things it will spawn) than they are letting on.

There was significant isolationist opposition to FDR before the attack on Pearl Harbor, both in the press and among the American public. So much so that on December 4, 1941, the Chicago Tribune printed a leaked copy of "Rainbow Five" -- the war plan against Germany, 3 days before Pearl Harbor.

The New Dealers' War: FDR and the War Within World War II by Thomas Fleming, claims that FDR knowingly lied when he said: "that he would never send American soldiers to fight beyond America's shores," and that he planned all along to get America into war against both Japan and particularly Hitler's Germany.

Sound Familiar?

Fleming wrote an American Heritage article in 1987 on this topic, titled "The Big Leak."

So big was the leak that it might have caused us to lose World War II. So mysterious is the identity of the leaker that we can’t be sure to this day who it was … or at least not entirely sure.

["The Big Leak"]

Shades of the NY Times.....

Many think that the newly prepared war plan against Nazi Germany was leaked to the Chicago Tribune in order to sabotage FDR's efforts. Other's think that the existance of the war plan (and it's disclosure in the Tribune) was the reason that Germany Declared war upon America right after Pearl Harbor.

Pearl Harbor silenced the isolationists and even the Chicago Tribune ceased it's isolationist opposition to FDR foreign policies.

The point is that a "DNN"-like newsreel, critical of FDR and his planned war with Germany could very will have been created and shown in movie theaters across America on December 6th, 1941.

But not after 12/7/41.
