Some things are so below a minimum decency level that visible outrage is the only adequate way to vent.

One station manager who had said he wouldn’t air the special said he was concerned that whether or not Simpson was guilty, he would still be profiting from murders.

“I have my own moral compass and this was easy,” said Bill Lamb, general manager of WDRB in Louisville.

Lamb is my new local hero! Well, not really, though I do applaud his decicion to drop the O.J. “attention ploy” special. And does anyone else see the pattern here? Fox News is out for both truth and profit. True, controversy sells, but too much controversy turns off audiences.

Ultimately, calculated business judgements dictate what we get to see. Frankly, I’m amazed John Stossel has managed to get his specials onto network primetime like, “Stupid in America” [The case for school vouchers] even more so than Glenn Beck getting his “Exposed: The Extremist Agenda” onto CNN. After all, CNN is battling against the image of anti-Americanism after showing enemy snipers shooting American Soldiers. To CNN that’s just “fair and balanced.”
