UCLA students demonstrate against UCPD taser use

LAist covered UCLA students protesting the recent tasering of one of their peers.

But the question is, do you have a school ID?
And of course it wouldn’t be a UC protest without signs like these:

is that 10 point plan for real? What a bunch of morons… a waste of perfectly good oxygen…

Ugly,
You are confusing the cause and manner of death. A stab victim with a severed artery, for instance, would die as a result of complications from execssive blood loss, and this would be reflected in the coroner’s report.
The concern with tasers relate to ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest, and it comes as no surprise to see that the vast majority of the persons listed in the link you provided died as a result of … CARDIAC ARREST.
Here’s another one …
MKR on November 19, 2006 at 4:42 AM
No. I’m not confusing anything.

In general, as a result of…. wait for it… wait a sec…. another second… keep waiting…. hang on… just another sec.. METHOD unknown?
Look. Wanna have fun? Go on a meth binge and make your mark.

Ugly,
You have no argument.
Thankyou for your time.
MKR on November 19, 2006 at 5:01 AM
Oh please. Don’t even try to talk down to me.
No argument? Well FFS, I’m losing my touch, I guess. I thought I made my point.
I thank you for giving up and handing me the victory.

Most people who die during a taser related incident suffer from excited deliirum. Read about it here. In most of the deaths you will find the suspect was most likely a polydrug user. Between the drugs and the physical altercation between police the heart gives out. Once again some, like these students protesting will say “it’s the police officer’s fault”. And just like the case at UCLA the liberal always wants to fore go personal responsibility. Rules are made for everyone’s benefit. If we get to pick and choose which rules we want to follow then why have rules. If you don’t like a rule there’s proper way to do that also. But the proper way is not throwing yourself to the floor kicking and screaming like a 2 year old.
Just let the gangs in LA have free access to the university and you’ll hear those young college students demand police action. But hey the Crips, Bloods, MS13 and other assorted street level thugs need access to higher education also.
By the way Way to go Buckeyes

Do you think these young protesters pictured understand the irony of their status. The rules and way of life they are protesting allows them the freedom to do so with faces exposed. One wonders if the protest would carry the same weight under a burrka?
SPIFF1669 on November 19, 2006 at 9:12 AM
Frankly, the guy with the taser was an idiot. Part of being a cop is using your judgement in situations like this. After the first couple times he Tasered the guy, his backup arrived He could have cuffed the guy, picked him up and hauled his ass outta the library before the scene turned into this mob debacle.
Sometimes, under stress, you get tunnel vision and stay with a strategy that simply isn’t working – This officer got so hung up on forcing compliance with the Taser that he disregarded any other options.

What I want to know is what do they teach at UCLA? Stupidity?
I’m for pulling the cops and military recruters (and all federal funds) from UCLA. I think the LA gangs will appreciate having a cop-free place to hang out.

Can we just kick CA out of the union and replace it with say Samoa? Now that is a real warrior culture and just what we need.

I watched the video, and I have to tell you that those officers should lose their badges. I usually side with the police, but that was just wrong. The student was under controll, handcuffed, and not threatening anyone. Just because a suspect refuses to walk, does not give them the right to use that kind of force. It’s their job to carry or drag him out, not punish him because he’s making their job harder. If those kind of police tactics were to fly it would make all forms of non-violent protests and peaceful resistance situations end in electric shocks.

To the students displaying signs “Don’t taser me.”
If you don’t make trouble you won’t get tasered.
End of story.
Now, do your homework!

The conservatives already have no equal rights from the leftists.
Do you want to watch how conservatives are treated? Go to a speech on a college campus and watch how conservatives are attacked, physically, orally, with projectiles, the works. Go watch the speech, if it even takes place, and watch the leftist “peace lovers” storm the stage and attack the conservative speaker.
Yes, the police have stood around allowing leftists to have their way with conservatives, and they have been putting the heavy jack boot of law enforcement onto the necks of Conservatives, Christians, the works, for quite a while now, in colleges, in public venues, in high schools, just about every where.
Anyway you look at this it is clear that the perpetually outraged are capitalizing on another incident in order to spread their influence on our justice and law enforcement system. In so doing they will mold law enforcement and the courts to comply with their agenda.
In the meantime, the prima donnas like this spoiled brat, loud mouthed Broadway show star get top billing, a Ton award, and their name immortalized as a “martyr” for the cause and a hero!
Insane.
Simply insane.
William2006 on November 19, 2006 at 7:28 PM
Nah, just screaming his head off and trying to incite the other students. According to the LA Times, at one point he yelled, “Am I the only martyr?”
According to the UCPD’s guidelines it does.
Jim Treacher on November 20, 2006 at 4:41 AM
If any of those college kids had balls, there would be a sign in that crowd that said ‘Behead those that taser college students’. Stupid brats. Can’t even make their protest signs ironic. Somebody get me a firehose..I’ll take care of that crowd.

This is more than a pattern. This is a concerted effort, a plan of attack if you will. CAIR and it’s co-conspirators are using these confrontations to their benefit. They are experts in this field of ‘human interest’ exploitations. This guy, mostafa, might even be a plant. Look at his personal page where he admits to stirring up trouble as often as possible, anywhere possible…its what he does well. Sure, that’s conspiracy thinking, and probably not what happened, but these occurences are happening more and more and CAIR is ready to turn any event into a muslim hate crime. It keeps muslims on the pity pot and the left falls in love with them making hunting down real terrorists harder and harder. As pelooser says ‘make it illegal’ to ask a muslim looking person any questions at any airport, EVER. The muslims are doing what they promised to do, make the world either muslim, or dead. That is what the koran preaches, their main purpose on earth.
Don’t just believe me on this, go search and read more and more, from both sides. Even the mullahs cannot hide their mission statements very well and those are the ones who don’t scream out Kill Israel / Kill America. THEY MEAN IT FOLKS. And our freedom gives them tools they never dreamed of having just 200 years ago.
Thank GOD for MM and HA and JihadWatch and all the other sites we can use to gain a real perspective.
shooter on November 20, 2006 at 1:29 PM
Jim Treacher you really should not be defending these officers. The simple fact is that you don’t taser a suspect that is already handcuffed and goes limp and refuses to walk. It’s the officers’ job to drag him out, not tase him numerous times as an incentive to walk under his own power. Seriously, whether you’re left or right should not make a differnce in recognizing that these officers went over the line, and then some.
