Card’s right. Conservatives have to come up with an effective counter to the media. From the War, to the economy, to democratic scandals, our voice is being drowned out. Look at the Pelosi hiring illegals for her vineyard. There was one story, then poof. Abramov implicates Dems, send him to jail real quick. Kennedy & the Soviets, too old. This is where the problem is. We need more great communicators.

You are exactly right. One of the weakest links on the Conservative side of things is a substantive media presence (present excellent HotAir excluded, of course).

Been having the same thoughts myself, and I’m up for pitching in.

What’s up with your site? Can’t seem to connect.

If they’re really serious about becoming the majority party, what rich Republicans need to do is stop paying for thousand-dollar-a-plate fundraising dinners and start buying up newspapers and networks.

Allow me, the hardcore Texan gun-owning, Christian conservative, clue everyone in on an axiom in our American Experience: The really rich Republicans don’t read blogs or watch TV or go to protest marches for traditionalist causes because they are busy buying low and selling high; running their companies and making money.

You know… working.

Knowing this fact, how are you convince the fortysomething Republican white guy that made his millions from real estate or manufacturing paint thinner that he should fund a movie with conservative values shot on digital video and distributed direct to consumers via Netflix? Float a group of conservative bloggers to build and market a political video sharing website? Pour money into a comedy TV show pilot for that savages the Left?

The fortysomething white guy will say: “What’s a Netflix?”

If you’re the daughter of a conservative businessman, you’re expected to marry another hard-working conservative’s son who will make a lot of money so you can manage a tax-exempt charitable trust; not waste your time writing your observations on some silly blog thing nobody ever reads. We all know that business plans are acceptable writing assignments for conservatives, not these stupid, faddish “blogs” on the Internet!

If you’re a conservative teenage boy, you’re supposed to go to business school and get a real job, not go to UCLA to play-act with the stoners and creeps that gravitate to the entertainment industry! I mean, where’s the value prop in that?

Michelle Malkin said: “I’m going to put together a broadband video website with traditionalist values and I am going to do this by myself with my own money since it’s obvious nobody else will.”

Oh, not that nobody else could do it, but that no other conservative had–wait for it–the balls to spend their own money do it.

Card should stick to the science fiction; unless of course he gets the war with Iran or Syria he’s drooling for. Then, he should enlist in the military.

Hmmm. I have never been able to really follow this logic.

If you are pro-war, you should enlist in the military to help fight the war.

If you are anti-war, does that mean you should join the human shields?

If you are pro-choice, does that mean you should get an abortion?

If you are pro-gay marriage, does that mean you should get married to someone of the same sex, even if you are straight?

I’m just wondering where this all leads.

And what about senior citizens? Since they can’t enlist, are they allow to think certain ways? Or is that forbidden?

If you are an openly gay man, who is pro-war, what is he supposed to do? He can’t enlist. Because he is openly gay. Are you saying that openly gay men who support the war have to go into the closet in order to join the army to fight the war?

He was there before the election – he wrote this excellent article, which is worth reading even now.

(October 29) There is only one issue in this election that will matter five or ten years from now, and that’s the War on Terror. And the success of the War on Terror now teeters on the fulcrum of this election. If control of the House passes into Democratic hands, there are enough withdraw-on-a-timetable Democrats in positions of prominence that it will not only seem to be a victory for our enemies, it will be one.

Orson can only do so much. He is no Chuck Norris (the only man who can lead the horse to water AND make him drink).

Let’s hope that whatever he’s smokin’ catches on.

Card identifies himself as a Democrat, which he asserts is because he is pro-gun control/anti-NRA, is highly critical of free-market capitalism, and believes the Republican party in the South continues to tolerate racism.

But he’s right in the way he thinks about National Security (on the most part). If we’re dead, we won’t be able to have any arguments about gun control or capitalism, etc.

…maybe we can just spin him around in a circle until he’s really, really dizzy….

But of course, he’s no Gore Vidal, so crickets about him other than on these tubes. Anyone else read that glowing interview with Gore Vidal in Time magazine? Not one peep about his absolutely looney ideas. You would think he was a moderate. Vidal’s political opinions are fawned over by the media. Card? not so much.

That’s really the heart of it, isn’t it?

In short, President Bush is a visionary, even a revolutionary; he is also a superb manager who does not waste his time trying to micromanage everything himself. He delegates; he campaigns for his programs; he gets out when a boat doesn’t float, but he doesn’t scuttle it, he repairs it and tries again.

Card is absolutely right and I’m impressed to find that he said the very same thing I said last week to a group. It’s unfortunate that so many of those who call themselves conservatives don’t understand Bush’s philosophy on government.

I prefer my meat medium rare but I don’t tell those who like it well done or raw that they can’t sit at my table. The recalibration of the GOP best take place quickly.

Lord. I was imagining him switching over to our side, but I think a contrarian like him in the Dem camp is much more beneficial to us all.
