Clever, although I’d say the Republicans are more like a freeloading friend who sits on his ass all day getting fat instead of looking for something to do. And somehow ends up in politics.
Like Josh Jennings, in other words. But with an immigration plan even dumber than his is.
And you thought he was a Democrat.

Since we’re playing with analogies about destructive relationships, whose would the following scene represent? I’m tempted to say Kos’s and Lieberman’s but that’s really more of a betrayal/abandonment dynamic, like “Fatal Attraction.”
How about the nutroots and the Democratic Party? Let’s just hope it plays out the same way in the end.

Such a good movie.

I think that analogy works. The nutroots are convinced that they won this thing single-handedly. The Dem. party isn’t going to change the way they do business anytime soon, and the nutroots are gonna end up like the farm-hand who got too close to the Donkey: Kicked in the teeth.
Politics and payback will prevail. Same ol’ same ol’.

Hmmm… pork rinds…
E L Frederick (Sniper One) on November 16, 2006 at 5:59 PM
MKH, that was outstanding. ::in best Biff imitation:: Hello, GOP, anybody home?
How about we mass email the YouTube link to every (R) member of both houses? The number of times they get it from different sources might help them begin to understand.

Great. Now I have the image of the Kathy Bates hot tub scene from About Schmidt. Thanks for that.
lorien1973 on November 16, 2006 at 6:02 PM
Worst. Scene. Ever.
The horror. The horror …
But MKH was funny and effective as usual in making her point, so that’s a nice consolation.

Yeah, I was wondering about those evil electric voting machines. Funny all the conspiracies stopped when the Dems won isn’t it?
Great job MKH.

AP, I forgot to ask…
Which part are you casting as the netroots, and which as the donk party? MY first assumption would be the party as Annie, since they could easily “hobble” the fringies. But then I have to consider which character is lucid, and which bonkers.
Of course, even that question is a matter of degree.

Both parties could use a little less Tequila

MKH: Brilliant!
I’d write more, but it’s not really necessary. Besides, I have to go get another HoHo.
Jonathon on November 16, 2006 at 6:31 PM
Ummm…. Ho Ho….

I’m havin ham for Thanksgiving. Analogy yes,but he still has his Malkins.

Actually, I think the Misery clip is more a Republican and Republican voters type of situation.
Voters: “We want new leadership!”
Republicans: “Do things our way. It’s for the best.”
Voters: “No, we want change. What are you doing with that hammer?”

I am suddenly reminded that it’s been a while since you’ve had The Vent here. What’s the deal? Some post-election banter from four intelligent women is just the thing this disheartened conservative needs. After all, Rosie and her band of semi-literates (minus Elizabeth) still need a counterweight.
On second thought, a true counterweight would require the addition of a Subaru and the starting defensive line of the ‘72 Rams.
SailorDave on November 16, 2006 at 7:13 PM
MKH: Bittersweet.
Kathy Bates: NOOOOO!!!!
kevcad on November 16, 2006 at 7:19 PM
i always thought the “god i love you” zoom shot was a corny ending to an otherwise great scene.
jummy on November 16, 2006 at 7:26 PM
Maybe it’s just me but MKH humor Vblogs remind me of weak high school audio/video projects. I can’t even get through them, they’re just to lame and embarrassing.
lowandslow on November 16, 2006 at 7:45 PM
It was only a matter of time before some Republican patted the party on the back for not contesting the results in 2006, ignoring the fact that there were no significant anomalies like in 2000 and 2004.
Constantine on November 16, 2006 at 8:20 PM
There weren’t any “significant anomalies” in 2000, 2002 or 2004 either. Just lots of Dem voters too dumb to fill out a ballot. No doubt these same lamebrains would have suddenly appeared all lawyered up had the GOP pulled it out.
rivlax on November 16, 2006 at 8:35 PM
Really? I guess they got smarter in the last two years.
In Ohio 2004 officials there purged tens of thousands of eligible voters from the rolls, neglected to process registration cards generated by Democratic voter drives, and shortchanged Democratic precincts when they allocated voting machines. You remember voters in heavily Democratic districts waiting in line until 2am to cast their ballots? Ken Blackwell was 2004’s Katherine Harris. Good riddance to both of them.
Constantine on November 16, 2006 at 8:44 PM
Heh, psycho ex-girlfriends. So, does this mean we can get a restraining order?
thedecider on November 16, 2006 at 8:51 PM
acorn is making all the same claims this year too, constantine. the only difference is the party leadership has nothing to profit from alleging that the election was rigged.
but you’re right, it wsn’t that the dems were “too dumb”. they just lost.
jummy on November 16, 2006 at 10:24 PM

better writing than hs. take it for what it is: a collumnist playing with a camera. its not like she gets a budget or is submitting them for broadcast. don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
jummy on November 16, 2006 at 10:28 PM
Right on that! The only thing is - both parties have dirt - it’s usually a matter of which has the least in this or that particular election cycle - wouldn’t you say?
Bob Taft, Ken Blackwell, and their like, with the endemic corruption that symbolizes their rule, which is far more widespread than is reported - did for the Democrats what they couldn’t do themselves -
Created a state of Democrats out of Republicans! Now what they do with what they have been given is up to them!
That said, I loved the analogies given, More truth than we like to admit, perhaps. However, this says it best:
Have a good night!

DO NOT FEED THE CONSTANTINE TROLL!

Oh, I love that girl!
(…MKH, that is, not Kathy Bates.)
