[...] The ACLU expressed outrage when President Bush signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 allowing us to harshly interrogate captured terrorists. Now that the doors of Congress have been opened up to the ACLU's buddies in CAIR, the ACLU have more reason to cheer. Sen. Patrick Leahy is drafting a bill to undo portions of the new law in an effort to create habeas corpus rights for enemy combatants. The ACLU has opposed searches of all kinds whether they are profiled, random, or across the board. I'm sure they are applauding the recent words of Pelosi, our new Speaker of the House. Read in full at Sweetness and Light. "Since September 11th, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin, without any credible information linking individuals to criminal conduct," Pelosi continued. "Racial and religious profiling is fundamentally un-American and we must make it illegal.
Correction to my question above about "takfir". The Ellison crowd was not shouting "takfir".

They were shouting "takbir" which means "Shout Allahu Akbar!"

My mistake.

The Glenn Beck post is about to drop off the front page, so I’ll repost my comment here–if you missed his show on Wednesday about the Islamists, he’s going to be rebroadcasting it again on Sunday. Fire up your Tivos.

He’s also having Benjamin Netanyahu on for the whole hour of his show on Friday.

Hack Ptui on November 16, 2006 at 10:06 PM

The Beck show was pretty good - probably has the Crescent News Network crowd's knickers in a twist, eh?

Netanyahu has been a truth teller from way back - now if only American policy makers would actually listen, learn, and apply his wisdom.

One can hope!

JaHerer22,
We are living in a time of the superempowered individual. A single person or small group, can cause massive damage on a scale that rivals what nations could do just a 100 years ago. 19 killed 3,000 with box cutters. One individual killed 168 people in Oklahoma with a rented truck and some fertilizer and diesel fuel. Now imagine what Iran or a terrorist group could do with nuclear or biological weapons and you begin to understand the magnitude of the situation.

During the Cold War, we operated under the MAD doctrine (Mutually Assured Destruction). In that case our enemies were sane and valued life as much as we did. So, in that case, deterrence worked and prevented an apocalypse. With Iran and other fundamentalist Islamic States, no such deterrence exists. They think it's their mission to bring about the apocalypse. They value death over life.

You say you remember the panic when the DC sniper was on the loose. Now imagine the level of panic and chaos if the US lost a city or two. If you want some sense of what it might look like, watch the remake of "war of the Worlds." The idea of a complete and total meltdown is not as far fetched our as you think.

Wow!

What a diverse range of thought here today -

One thing, though, political correctness will be the (perhaps literal) death of us all if we, collectively, don't take steps to repudiate it - now!!!!!!!

In Great Britain, law enforcement has decided to seek permission from Muslim leadership before they go and investigate or raid a suspected Muslim terrorist site.
William2006 on November 16, 2006 at 5:30 PM

Too late - that sort of thing is already here. In some places like Columbus, Ohio, police have to get permission before interviewing Somalis (they have the nation's first or second largest concentration of them in the U.S. at around 30,000+)about routine crimes. There are interpreters in many cities for those who routinely refuse (yes - refuse!) to learn English or to assimilate as our ancestors had to.

God and Christian regilion is forbidden in American classrooms, but Allah and Islam are practically required.

American children have to work and scrape by with two or more jobs to even try to afford college, but Muslim and other foreign children who are not citizens are practically given totally free education up to and including doctoral level degrees.

American jobs are eliminated by American companies because they (and the Government agrees) say that American workers are thought to be too lazy. But those same companies hire and employ illegal aliens to do the work we used to do - without an eye being batted twice.

These are but a few of the things that are happening in front of us - never mind what is behind the scenes.

Is there something wrong with this picture?

If we are supposed to be at war, we are also supposed to seal our borders in order to ensure safety by blocking entrance to our nation as much as physically possible. President Bush not only has not done so, he actually fights sealing the borders, thus putting us all at greater risk.

You wonder what would have happened if the same bunch had been "protecting" us during World War II. Surely we would now be speaking German (except for the West Coast, which would more than likely have to have been proficient in Japanese) and the world would be very different from what we currently know.

Yes, we are at risk. Such things cannot happen without the collective knowledge and assent of the majority.

What I mean by this is that every thing that happens - someone sees. Someone knows about......

..............and most say and do ......nothing.

For many reasons - they are scared - after all, what can one (or a few) people do?

As individuals, nothing - collectively, they can inform others through mediums such as this one -

and we can all inform each other....and others around us...

and raise our colective voices together into one so that others know what is going on under our noses in the name of political correctness - diversity - being tolerant.

The meaning of these words are being perverted as never before to allow us to be taken over from within -

just like the ancient Roman Empire.

The parallels are too great to ignore.

William, you are more right than you know. Keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground......

chances are your neighbors won't.

In some places like Columbus, Ohio, police have to get permission before interviewing Somalis (they have the nation’s first or second largest concentration of them in the U.S. at around 30,000+)about routine crimes. There are interpreters in many cities for those who routinely refuse (yes – refuse!) to learn English or to assimilate as our ancestors had to.

But those same companies hire and employ illegal aliens to do the work we used to do – without an eye being batted twice.

These are but a few of the things that are happening in front of us – never mind what is behind the scenes.

Is there something wrong with this picture?

If we are supposed to be at war, we are also supposed to seal our borders in order to ensure safety by blocking entrance to our nation as much as physically possible. President Bush not only has not done so, he actually fights sealing the borders, thus putting us all at greater risk.

You wonder what would have happened if the same bunch had been “protecting” us during World War II. Surely we would now be speaking German (except for the West Coast, which would more than likely have to have been proficient in Japanese) and the world would be very different from what we currently know.

Yes, we are at risk. Such things cannot happen without the collective knowledge and assent of the majority.

What I mean by this is that every thing that happens – someone sees. Someone knows about……

…………..and most say and do ……nothing.

For many reasons – they are scared – after all, what can one (or a few) people do?

As individuals, nothing – collectively, they can inform others through mediums such as this one –

and we can all inform each other….and others around us…

and raise our colective voices together into one so that others know what is going on under our noses in the name of political correctness – diversity – being tolerant.

The meaning of these words are being perverted as never before to allow us to be taken over from within –

just like the ancient Roman Empire.

The parallels are too great to ignore.

William, you are more right than you know. Keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground……

chances are your neighbors won’t.

Okay, William, I warn't callin' you out ( Southern usage ) and I share your concerns about illegal immigration and the PC-based limits put on law enforcement agencies

To believe that we are no longer being adequately protected is one thing; to believe that the gummint has created a deliberate policy of leaving us open to attack is a Whole Nuther Thing.

Who knows? You could be right, and if They are actually after you then you ain't paranoid

[...] The ACLU has opposed searches of all kinds whether they are profiled, random, or across the board. I’m sure they are applauding the recent words of Pelosi, our new Speaker of the House. Read in full at Sweetness and Light. “Since September 11th, many Muslim Americans have been subjected to searches at airports and other locations based upon their religion and national origin, without any credible information linking individuals to criminal conduct,” Pelosi continued. “Racial and religious profiling is fundamentally un-American and we must make it illegal.
Pelosi and Co. may want ot disable and disarm every defensive measure this nation has but it'll be interesting to see just how much of it, if any, they can get passed through Congress.

We'll just hae to wait and see but thankfully we have HotAir and others helping us to keep an eye on things.

Really? You are that paranoid? I’m sorry, it must be tough to think so irrationally all the time. I mean I can understand fearing another terrorist attack, even something as horrible as a nuclear explosion. But you believe we will be engaged in street warfare with jihadists in ten years?

There can be rationales for withdrawal from mainstream society beyond the escape of violence. One could seek shelter merely to avoid, say, an uncontested influx of Muslims and their associated customs. As we're seeing in Europe, the imposition of the caliphate can take place gradually, and without a front centered on acts of violence (not that those don't tend to occur, also). The relentless exploitation of "tolerance" is a far greater weapon in the Islamic arsenal than any conceivable act(s) of murder.

That said, ten years is a pretty short time table for a total collapse of America as we know it--though it may well be enough time to gauge whether current negative trends are irreversible. And granted the apparent unwillingness of western society to even recognize that Islam is a problematic ideology, let alone to actively resist its encroachment, I don't think 30 years is much of a stretch at all. Not that I would wager the U.S. by that time will actually be an Islamic nation, but the current triangulation of Islamic expansion, American cultural and geopolitical decline (from all sorts of sources), and Chinese economic and military emergence definitely raises questions as to whether it will be someplace modern Americans would even recognize.

Of course, even then there would be some realities one just couldn't hide from, even in Montana.

invasion is highly unlikely, nigh impossible for small groups that spend almost as much time fighting against themselves as they do preaching against the great satan. however, several years down the road, once they have outpopulated traditional europeans, that situation might change.

p.s. first post btw (finally checked the email address that i had my pw sent too), looking forward to many more!!

‘William2006′, the reason there have been no big-time down-town attacks since 9/11 is probably because of the skills and determination of thousands of people whose job it is to protect us.

Or, to let Paranoia fully take hold, yes, it could be a massive nationwide conspiracy engineered by BushHitler

take your pick, son

"Janos,"

I was never a "Bush/Hitler" conspiracy theorist. I am not now a "Bush/Hitler" conspiracy theorist. I am pissed big time at him and his associates for giving a pass to illegal invaders, thus putting us at great risk.

If we are supposed to be at war, we are also supposed to seal our borders in order to ensure safety by blocking entrance to our nation as much as physically possible. President Bush not only has not done so, he actually fights sealing the borders, thus putting us all at greater risk.

The original attackers' operatives were here on student visas, legally originally. That argument does not discount the seriousness of the importance of sealing our borders.

Because our president and his operatives ignore us, the voters and his supporters, and because that act of not sealing the borders is the opposite of what one should do in time of war, it is clear that Bush does not really take war against Islamic Jihadis seriously. He does not really believe we are truly at war, otherwise he would seal the borders and not give fast track visas to Saudis, or any other nation or nationality.

Furthermore, movement into our country via other nations, such as France, Germany, etc., also leaves us open to Jihadis, for they are using this method to actually travel from Europe to the US, which is easier from so-called "friendly" nations, rather than from nations that are on the watch list, such as Iran, Syria, etc.

Police throughout the nation are told by their commanders that they are not to check out the nationality or status of anyone they stop, such as for an auto infraction, etc. This is so even if the police suspect that the person is a foreigner. That is insane!

These people are not taking this seriously, and that debunks their claim that they are doing all they can to protect us.

In the past I have argued in favor of the protection that unseen faces, working in the trenches, have provided in preventing another massive attack.

As time passed, as I observed the debacle of massive illegal invaders, of special access to various Arab-predominently Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia, and similar cases, and upon observing the horrific performance by TSA, who, time and time and time again are found letting weapons and whatnot through EVERY TIME they are covertly tested, and, when I see the stupid, idiotic pro-Arab, pro-Muslim exception to extra screening at airports, and the virtually total access to train stations, bus stations, and so on, I have little to no confidence any longer in the faceless someones who are protecting us.

Gee! Even non-terrorists have caused trouble in public places while passersby were defenseless against them and while law enforcement were like the Keystone cops in their response.

In Great Britain, law enforcement has decided to seek permission from Muslim leadership before they go and investigate or raid a suspected Muslim terrorist site.

In The United States the "protectors" are not even allowed to use radiation detection around mosques in order to make certain that there are not nuclear materials hidden in these houses of worship, which, in the Muslim world double as planning and meeting points for Jihadi attacks.

No. I no longer believe that we are truly being protected. My confidence in their dependability is greatly reduced.

I won't be surprised if and when another massive attack takes place, or a series of damaging, horrific attacks take place.

I'll bet that after it does our President's administration will still claim that there is no reason to seal our borders, and they will still offer amnesty and free invasion for law breaking illegals.

The crazy thing is that those who are creating the problem by failing to defend the country will be completely surprised when "Michigan Militia" types start defending the country on their own.

I wouldn't even be surprised to see a re-emergence of the Klan as the fringe detects we are all being painted into a corner and starts the first violent retaliations.

I don't want or support that sort of irrational violence but I will not be the least bit surprised when it starts to happen. Frankly, I'm amazed it hasn't happened yet.
