There’s a very good chance he’s running for Senate in Minnesota in ‘08 so it looks like you’ll have plenty more opportunities to ridicule him. Have you ever seen a Franken interview? He can actually talk policy better than most; I work for a health care consulting firm and his Medicare Part D policy ideas are some of the best and most innovative I’ve heard yet. I like Minnesota…used to vacation there with relatives every summer when I was a kid….

…but, thank you. I *WILL* avail myself of any and all opportunities to ridicule him. Not that I needed permission…but it’s nice to know that I have it, anyway….

As to his fluency in speaking to socialism, I’m not surprised. What might’ve helped would’ve been his fluency in speaking in an entertaining and engaging fasion…that’s what people like on radio. Switch on the radio in drive-time traffic and you get a wonk, brow-beating you about healthcare policy. I wouldn’t be surprised if folks didn’t drive over toll booths and off of bridges after a half hour’s screed….

Franken wqs one of the original writers for Saturday Night Live in 1975–one of about a dozen. That’s how he got ‘on air’ via Stuart Smalley, etc. You can also see him in bit parts during the first few seasons
