Brian Maloney’s hearing December 8th. KQKE in San Francisco reported ten days ago that it’s December 10th. No word on why, but I think we can take an educated guess.

He wasn’t good enough, he wasn’t smart enough, and gosh darn it, nobody liked him.

I wasn’t even sure there was an Air America left to leave?

RightWinged on November 16, 2006 at 9:14 PM

Air who?

thedecider on November 16, 2006 at 9:16 PM

Air America? Never heard of it.

lorien1973 on November 16, 2006 at 9:18 PM

No Limo for that Lame-O, I guess.

Slublog on November 16, 2006 at 9:22 PM

Now that he’s leaving, do you suppose their ratings will improve?

thedecider on November 16, 2006 at 9:26 PM

Let’s see … “borrowing” tons of money from a Boys and Girls Club, then bankruptcy (but still able to pay big $$ to the likes of ol’ Al), I’m surprised he stayed this long. Must have been in his contract to keep those $$$.

He should have known - real American air is hot (aka Hot Air!)

IrishEyes on November 16, 2006 at 9:31 PM

He wasn’t good enough, he wasn’t smart enough, and gosh darn it, nobody liked him. LOL YOU CRAZY!!!

sonnyspats1 on November 16, 2006 at 9:33 PM

Guess this was NOT the Al Franken Decade! LOL

StuLongIsland on November 16, 2006 at 9:36 PM

Stewart Smally’s next book, “Failures and the failing failures who participate in them.”

Alden Pyle on November 16, 2006 at 9:39 PM

You should have made him yellow :) Just ’cause it’s funny.

Kevin M on November 16, 2006 at 9:46 PM

Maybe he’s just quit so he can start running for president in ‘08. (Got the idea from Robin Williams I suppose).

Tony737 on November 16, 2006 at 9:47 PM

Tony737, you beat me to it - I was simply going to post “you haven’t heard yet? he’s forming an exploratory committee”.

Entelechy on November 16, 2006 at 9:50 PM

How ironic- flushed away just as the dems come to power. Oh well, better luck next time.

Scotsman on November 16, 2006 at 9:50 PM

No..NOOOOO! It’s a lie…they’re all lying. Al isn’t leaving..he’s..he’s taking over..yes, he’s taking over. Air America belongs to him…nooooooooo…MENNNNDOOOOOZZZAAA!

austinnelly on November 16, 2006 at 9:53 PM

When Al goes off the air, how will anyone know?

JammieWearingFool on November 16, 2006 at 9:55 PM

Stuart Smiley has talked about moving to Minnesota and running for senate.

infidel on November 16, 2006 at 10:00 PM

EEEK! I hope he doesn’t become more visible.

jrvass on November 16, 2006 at 10:02 PM

I was always sad they took the name of some real American heros. Civilian pilots risking their lives as warriors and patriots. That should be what everyone remembers when hearing that name. Not vile rhetoric.

Griz on November 16, 2006 at 10:04 PM

There once was a man called Al Franken
From George Soros big bucks he was bankin’
Air America died
and ole’ Al cried and cried
cause his balance had taken a spankin’

BacaDog on November 16, 2006 at 10:12 PM

He’s the offspring of Howdy Doody and the ugliest white chick on earth.

This is a spiteful, hateful, petty, arrogant little turd with minor talent as a comedy writer who should never been allowed “on air” anywhere

Janos Hunyadi on November 16, 2006 at 10:22 PM

Don’t be shy Janos, tell us how you really feel. LOL

BacaDog on November 16, 2006 at 10:25 PM

Igen ( yes ), but accurate….

Franken lives, yes? So truth can be told about him, no?

Janos Hunyadi on November 16, 2006 at 10:31 PM

Ah yes. But does he get it? I doubt it. This kind of cocksure liberalogue mouthpiece, is so sure he’s right, he doesn’t even entertain the possibility that he’s on the wrong side of the equation. Can’t happen. In the words of that profound wordsmith: “I pity the fool….!!”

hillbillyjim on November 16, 2006 at 10:50 PM

Look at those stupid glasses. Moron.

bloggless on November 16, 2006 at 10:52 PM

Look at those stupid glasses. Moron.

bloggless on November 16, 2006 at 10:52 PM

There’s a reason that they’re called birth control glasses!

Emmett J. on November 16, 2006 at 10:56 PM

When does he leave the planet?

SouthernGent on November 16, 2006 at 11:01 PM

There once was a man named Al Franken,
Whose ratings on air were tankin’
He sputtered and spat
Declared, “I smell a rat”
But alas, t’was the libs that were doing the yankin’

bloggless on November 16, 2006 at 11:09 PM

Thank you Emmet, I thought they were reverse beer goggles.

bloggless on November 16, 2006 at 11:09 PM

You’re welcome, Bloggless, I hadn’t thought of that - it might explain why he keeps getting shortchanged on the shot glasses full of beer that he sees as mugs.

Come to think of it, it might explain his unique perception of the world - he’s “goggle eyed”!

I didn’t say it’s a good joke, but there it is.

Enjoy!

Emmett J. on November 16, 2006 at 11:23 PM

…he’s forming an exploratory committee”. — Entelechy

…no, it turns out that it an exploratory committee wasn’t necessary…he found his a$$ after all…took *BOTH* hands and a lot of help, but he found it….

Puritan1648 on November 16, 2006 at 11:41 PM

Al who?? Air what???

MOMinuteman on November 16, 2006 at 11:45 PM

…someone please fill me in on this retard: *WHAT* exactly does this or did this guy do that he got an on-air gig in the first place?

I heard from someone that he used to write comedy, but I blew that explanation off. He’s the single dreariest man in America. He isn’t smart enough to crack a window, let alone a joke.

What is going to happen to this unfortunate and soon-to-be-unemployed cretin? Reduced to accepting state assistance, I presume.

Sad…gone from nobody listening to him to…*WAIT A MINUTE*…OK…he’s used to it…carry on….

Puritan1648 on November 16, 2006 at 11:45 PM

Lefties seem to have convinced themselves that AA failed because corporate America blacklisted it. They won’t even conceive that the ship went down because of a horrible business plan.

Benaiah on November 17, 2006 at 12:00 AM

Franken wqs one of the original writers for Saturday Night Live in 1975–one of about a dozen. That’s how he got ‘on air’ via Stuart Smalley, etc. You can also see him in bit parts during the first few seasons

Janos Hunyadi on November 17, 2006 at 12:10 AM

Err Amerika!

Kini on November 17, 2006 at 12:15 AM

…really?!

You mean back when Saturday Night Live was still funny!

What happened to him, then? Did he join a cult or something…the Brotherhood of the Perpetually Petulant and Inexpressibly Tiresome?

…oh well…he’s done now, and it’s off to obscurity…wait…Air America? He’s there already, and has probably unpacked….

Puritan1648 on November 17, 2006 at 12:18 AM

People would rather hear cassette tapes of James Earl Jones reading from a telephone book before tuning in to Air America.

Joshua P. Allem on November 17, 2006 at 12:30 AM

Who would have thought that his book, “Lies…and the Lying Liars who tell them” would have turned out to be his autobiography?

Surely not Air America -

They would have been better off with Borat and Air Kazhakstan!

Emmett J. on November 17, 2006 at 12:33 AM

What happened to him, then? Did he join a cult or something…the Brotherhood of the Perpetually Petulant and Inexpressibly Tiresome?

I believe I read somewhere it was the ” cult of Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

hillbillyjim on November 17, 2006 at 12:48 AM

Of course, maybe I didn’t read that somewhere…coulda just made it up, like most of Al alFrankenshit.

hillbillyjim on November 17, 2006 at 12:51 AM

I believe I read somewhere it was the ” cult of Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!! — hillbillyjim

…or, maybe he’s just a dickhead.

I hate to be judgemental — as you know — but do’ya think?

If so, that Minnesota senate thing might just work out….

Puritan1648 on November 17, 2006 at 12:58 AM

We are agreed then.

Al franken’s Absolute Moral Authority Card has been cancelled.

For being out of work and “failure to perform.”

georgej on November 17, 2006 at 1:27 AM

Why are we still talking about the asshole…

x95b10 on November 17, 2006 at 1:48 AM

Joshua P. Allem, the “James Earl Jones Reading from the Telephone Book” radio network would be awesome! And I bet it would pimpslap Error America in the ratings from day 1.

ReubenJCogburn on November 17, 2006 at 2:34 AM

Let’s give Darth a call.

Joshua P. Allem on November 17, 2006 at 2:39 AM

Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish
Enough said

Gwillie on November 17, 2006 at 5:07 AM

I thought he’d left already. Shows you how much I’ve been keeping up with it.

vcferlita on November 17, 2006 at 8:57 AM

…oh well…he’s done now, and it’s off to obscurity…wait…Air America? He’s there already, and has probably unpacked….

There’s a very good chance he’s running for Senate in Minnesota in ‘08 so it looks like you’ll have plenty more opportunities to ridicule him. Have you ever seen a Franken interview? He can actually talk policy better than most; I work for a health care consulting firm and his Medicare Part D policy ideas are some of the best and most innovative I’ve heard yet. I was surprised.

JaHerer22 on November 17, 2006 at 9:06 AM

He has/had a radio show?

Wade on November 17, 2006 at 9:36 AM

…just what we needed…confirmation that you can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, and Minnesotans a little more often.

…*sigh*…

I like Minnesota…used to vacation there with relatives every summer when I was a kid….

…but, thank you. I *WILL* avail myself of any and all opportunities to ridicule him. Not that I needed permission…but it’s nice to know that I have it, anyway….

As to his fluency in speaking to socialism, I’m not surprised. What might’ve helped would’ve been his fluency in speaking in an entertaining and engaging fasion…that’s what people like on radio. Switch on the radio in drive-time traffic and you get a wonk, brow-beating you about healthcare policy. I wouldn’t be surprised if folks didn’t drive over toll booths and off of bridges after a half hour’s screed….

Puritan1648 on November 17, 2006 at 9:46 AM

…and that’s… okay.

— Stuart Smalley

Like several other folks above, I thought he was already gone. Oh well. Does this mean we don’t ever have to see that ugly mug on HA again?

(a gal can dream, no?)

lan astaslem on November 17, 2006 at 9:51 AM

Air America?…wasn’t that the CIA airline in Vietnam…

Who’s Al Frankerfreak?…never heard of him…Is he the bro of Obeajerk?…

areseaoh on November 17, 2006 at 9:55 AM

Good, just in time to help the Democrats massacre the GOP in the senate elections in 2008. Coleman. Allard. Sununu. Smith. Dole. Warner.

It’s going to be fun to watch.

Grebrook on November 17, 2006 at 1:24 PM

When Al goes off the air, how will anyone know?

JammieWearingFool on November 16, 2006 at 9:55 PM

You should be able to tell by the smell alone.

conservativecaveman on November 17, 2006 at 1:46 PM

So if Al Franken isn’t talking on the radio, and there isn’t anyone tuned in to here Al Franken not talking, is Al Franken really not talking on the radio ?
