Nine out of ten, baby. Nine. Out of. Ten.

Anyone who scores less than five is a punk-ass Adnan Hajj wannabe.

Thanks to Conservative Blog Therapy for the tip.

8 of 10. BMW got me too.

CourtZero on November 16, 2006 at 10:50 AM

Honora – sounds close enough to be honest. I take back the above as it relates to you.

steveegg on November 16, 2006 at 11:00 AM

I didn’t read this far, but I am sure others did to get the BMW question correct. I got 9/10 with no cheating!

wdlp1965 on November 16, 2006 at 11:24 AM

6 friggin 6 . That sucks even worse than my typing
and spelling. A friggin 6.

Texyank on November 16, 2006 at 11:50 AM

9 out of 10. That stinkin’ BMW.

shooten on November 16, 2006 at 12:14 PM

Six out of ten. :(

8 out of 10, bmw and the whisk got me

RobertCSampson on November 16, 2006 at 12:25 PM

9 out of 10 here – and I took about 2 minutes to do it.

BMW: No wipers, funny liscence plate, window (on building) at lower right has a funny “halo” around it.

Right. Also look at the building markings on the left. They’re skewed as a result of sloppy pasting between the vertical fence rails. The black objects atop the fence spires look too uniform.

I didn’t catch any of these clues until I cleaned my screen (yeah… that’s it).

“The far background in the BMW shot gave it away.”
The entire scene was an amazing work of art, but you’re right about the background. After looking at it closely I saw lots of similarities to the scenery in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. It looks nicer, of course, but the style is so close that I was even able to notice weird things like the shading being strange at the corners of buildings.

4 out of 10 and most of those were guesses anyway.

Looks like I can’t spot the reals from the fakes.

This will come in handy if I every get married. The guy can get me a CZ and I’ll happily spend my life thinking it’s a diamond.

Well, I’ll be happy until I form a hardcore gambling habit and I try to pawn my ‘diamond’ to pay for one last shot at the craps table. I know I’ll get it this time!

Only got the 8 because I am in the marketing biz and hence have some knowledge of how advertising creative works–when/why it’s easier to fake it. I couldn’t tell at all by just looking!!

honora on November 16, 2006 at 1:48 PM

Sorry if this gets double posted. I’m having the amazing disappearing comment problem. I think I’m getting ‘foul language’ censored for the type of gambling I chose to mention, so I’ll change it from the dice game to a card game.

9 of 10. That BMW is really well done.

Hint on the corkscrew: you can see the damage to the finish on the right side from being used (torqued).

The diamonds were the toughest for me after the car. Their shadows just didn’t look quite right but the biggest giveaway was the lack of light refracting through the gems onto the table surface.

JoeEgo on November 16, 2006 at 1:59 PM

8/10. (But I got the monkeys and the BMW. Screwed up on the bolt and the … um … blue reflection thingy. Still not sure what that is.)

JackOfClubs on November 16, 2006 at 2:03 PM

9/10 — Like others the BMW got me. Is the whole picture CG or just an aspect of it?

thebrokenchair on November 16, 2006 at 3:32 PM

8 out of 10 better than I thought I would do. I missed the diamonds and the Beemer.

vcferlita on November 16, 2006 at 9:02 AM

Same here

urbancenturion on November 16, 2006 at 3:59 PM

The beamer got me. Something didn’t look quite right, but I wasn’t sure what. It was, I think, the liscence plate that seemed fake to me.

RiverCocytus on November 16, 2006 at 4:25 PM

JasonG:

For the BMW I looked at the license plate. I didn’t recognize it so I assumed it was a fake.

So much for the magic, eh?

GPE:

WhooooHoooo! 6 for 10! There’s a job waiting for me at Reuters!

Sorry, but you’re overqualified!

JM Hanes on November 16, 2006 at 4:33 PM

9 out of 10. The car dinged me.

Monkeys?! That was the easiest one.

John on November 16, 2006 at 8:20 PM

Interesting. I judged 8 of 10 to be CG and scored only 5 of 10 correct. One must prudently doubt one’s ability to doubt prudently.

Kralizec on November 16, 2006 at 9:54 PM

4 in 10 ….. HEY DON’T LAUGH ! I got 50 year old eyes, OK ? And the real question is how many of them would you have noticed as fakes if you didn’t alreay know some of them were? HA !

Maxx on November 16, 2006 at 10:42 PM

I think the give away on the car is the license plate. But I got it wrong too, and only noticed the plate afterwards.

Maxx on November 16, 2006 at 10:46 PM

Actually, the car was the easiest one, John – the image of the bricks reflected in the side of the car wasn’t squared properly.
