Bolten will not be our guy in the UN. He makes too much sense, and was nominated by the Bushitler. The American sheeple have spoken, and they want a new course. It must be a bend over and take it where the sun don't shine stratigy, and we need the person in the UN to bend us over. Hmmmm, I am betting Dimmie Carter gets the job. He is real good at bending over. The whole deal makes me sick.

Great Vent Michelle!

The basic concepts of standing up for the national interests of the United States, supporting Israel, and advocating UN reform (if that is possible - I have my doubts) are very admirable. Bolton does indeed appear to be the right person for the job.

I’d like to out myself as a 25 year old with a B.F.A. in drama

JadeNYU, I applaud your bravery! Not for "outing" yourself in this crowd, but for being a conservative even after four years of liberal-arts-faculty brainwashing.

I have an old friend in a distant city who is a writer. When I visit him I am surrounded by a really interesting collection of writers, musicians, theater people, and even a few professional ballerinas. Great folks, but I have to be very careful about what I say around them --- they go into a wierd liberal-zombie attack mode if I even hint at the dark, awful truth that I am --- you know --- one of those people. A conservative. Patriot-act enemy of the First Ammendment and all that.

We'll keep your secret. Watch your back at NYU,

Bloggers go to Bat for Bolton...

With all that Bolton has accomplished, I guess this is a good chance to see if the Democrats are really serious about doing what is right in a bipartisan fashion, or whether it was all smoke and mirrors to trick their voters into voting for them.

For the most part, the comments I've seen on HotAir (and other like-minded sites) agree that John Bolton is the man we want at the UN.

Also, most people seem to agree that, if he can't get senate approval, we want Bush to recess appoint him (again). In this case, he will not be getting a salary. We don't care, we say, we'll cover his salary with donations.

What I haven't seen is:

1) Any research as to whether or not Bolton can accept private money as his salary while he's a government employee.

2) Any indication that Mr. Bolton is interested in doing the job for free (or for whatever money can be privately raised for him).

3) Anyone actually taking any steps to set up some form of donation collection for John Bolton (which, I'm assuming, should be started sooner, rather than later, unless his salary is closer to minimum wage than I think it is).

Now, before anyone gets smart and asks me why I'm not doing any of the things I've mentioned, I'd like to out myself as a 25 year old with a B.F.A. in drama. Research isn't my thing and neither is setting up accounts/campaigns for donations (I don't even balance my checkbook).

Surely there has to be someone out there with experience regarding this sort of thing that can start taking the necessary steps. I'm ready with my checkbook as soon as a (legitimate) "Donate for Bolton" site goes up.

Said it before a few months ago when this scenario first came up, said it again on the other thread last night:

I'm in. You can count on me to donate all I can afford to pay Bolton's salary if President Bush has the (gum)balls to do another Recess Appointment of Bolton.

PayPal at the ready.

In my last entry, I mentioned only having room for two more knives to be stuck in my back by the RNC / Bush Administration and RINOs in the Senate.

A House Republican and Democrat, in the new spirit of bipartisanship, are urging President Bush to name defeated Republican Rep. Jim Leach to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations

I'm surprised Bush is standing by Bolten after throwing Rumsfeld under the bus. I can't really get to excited about whether Bolten stays or not though. I mean, Bush appears to be letting himself get railroaded with this James Baker group into 'talking' with Iran and Syria about helping us withdraw (ie slink away with our tails between our legs); I can't believe we've come to this in a week. The only talking we should be doing with Iran and Syria is "Stop interfering in Iraq or we'll bomb you off the face of the earth." Or "Stop screwing with Israel, or we'll bomb you off the face of the earth." They are terrorist states. We're going to them to beg to be allowed to leave with some semblence of dignity. I just don't see the point in having a great UN ambassador like Bolten in place when we're dragging our national pride through the dirt in Iraq because the only trait left in Washington is expediency. To reflect our new "Please don't hurt us" foreign policy approach, we need a good buttlicker to be our Ambassador to the UN. How about Goober Graham from South Carolina? He likes terrorists, is worried about their rights, and he's been smooching John McCain's butt for 6 years. He'd be perfect.

This is one of those political issues I do not understand. Why this man was not approved with a Republican majority is just wrong. No wonder the elections went south for the GOP.

True believers like fighters more than non-fighters even if the latter end up accomplishing more. It’s similar to the love affair Left-wing webloggers have with Ned Lamont and Sen. Russ Feingold. [...]
