Let us see how “bipartisan” the Madame Vintner Botox Speaker is now.

seejanemom on November 14, 2006 at 9:37 AM

Nice vent about Ambassador Bolton, Michelle.

All of the reasons you state on why we should keep Ambassador Bolton at the UN are the reasons why the Dems and their RINO euunichs (a derivative from your GOP euunich phrase, Michelle) want to get rid of Bolton.

We need someone who has sharpened elbows to jab the UN with. We need someone to do stuff like pointing out how the NK amabassador’s seat was empty at the hearings. We need someone who puts America FIRST, not the needs of the world first.

Remember during hearings when a dem asked Bolton if he read a certain report? Bolton’s answer was that he does not have time to read fiction. Quite a nice kick in the DNP’s balls (sorry, Michelle, but I could not resist :-D…and once again, nicely put and nicely done on O’Reilly’s last night.)

The Dems will not tolerate Bolton. He stands in the way of internationalism and in the way of the UN exerting control over us and from a UN tank blocking my driveway.

I would be surprised if the dems choose to keep Bolton.

Can we just call him “The Moustache” from now on? I just adore that look on him.

It couldn’t be done better. Bolton achievement stands for itself. I thought it the democratic party policy to ignore a person’s past. I refering to Senator Kennedy. You don’t wanna party with him. You might wake in the ocean the next morning. Back to Bolton, even his past embolden me to support him, his present achievement put tears of joy in my eyes.

Remembering my Bolton favorite quotes.
“I don’t support a comic strip approach to international affairs.”

“I don’t do carrots.”

From Vent today.

What more could anyone ask of a UN Ambassador than Bolton has delivered?

Too bad Joe Biden is a Democrat before an American. Oh, and Linc Chaffee is an idiot before he’s an American.

I want my turtle on Turtle Bay to snap. I want Bolton.

mymanpotsandpans on November 14, 2006 at 10:01 AM

I must admit that I wasn’t a Bolton fan at first, but it seems like he’s done a good job at his post, and deserves the job “full-time.”

That being said, there’s no way the Democrats are going to let him be nominated. Even if some of them are impressed with the job he’s done, there’s the issue of “face-saving” right now.

Strangers things have happened in politics of course, but I just don’t see it.

How much credit did Bolton get for his effort in diffusing the recent North Korea incident via China? For his stand on NOT having the U.S. negotiate directly with North Korea?

The answer is…. wait for it…. here it comes…. almost there…. ZERO.

Intellectual honesty is NOT a Democratic strong point.

natesnake on November 14, 2006 at 10:02 AM

It would be incredible if Bush would give him another recess appointment, knowing that conservatives had stepped up to cover his salary. Can anyone check on the legality of this, though? Government officials can’t normally take private funds.

alflauren on November 14, 2006 at 10:15 AM

Malkin rocks! “The hatred of the good for being good.”

There is no better man. It is a defining moment, hclear the choices are for the direction of this country.

Atlas Shrugs on November 14, 2006 at 10:52 AM

Its part and parcel of the Dems takeover…

They are stripping Bush of any real effective conservative support, leaving him with nothing but Open border cut and run folks…

Rummy… now Bolton…

Romeo13 on November 14, 2006 at 11:06 AM

This is something the blogosphere can do best: galvinize support and funds for his salary so that he can continue at the UN for another two years.

Count me in for both!

Blogging for Bolton doesn’t like those of us in Alabama.

doginblack on November 14, 2006 at 1:15 PM

Bolton’s the man for this job. But we all know the Dems would prefer someone who’ll kiss up to foreign leaders and admire them like Mike Wallace.

Joshua P. Allem on November 14, 2006 at 2:28 PM

This is one of those political issues I do not understand. Why this man was not approved with a Republican majority is just wrong. No wonder the elections went south for the GOP.

The dims and there MSM dog-washers are doing all they can to tear down the Bush administration. What bothers me is the the Bushies appear ready to help them do it.

How sad.

A significant test to see if Democrats are playing lip-service to their claims of non-partisanship.

Lawrence on November 14, 2006 at 4:21 PM

I’m surprised Bush is standing by Bolten after throwing Rumsfeld under the bus. I can’t really get to excited about whether Bolten stays or not though. I mean, Bush appears to be letting himself get railroaded with this James Baker group into ‘talking’ with Iran and Syria about helping us withdraw (ie slink away with our tails between our legs); I can’t believe we’ve come to this in a week. The only talking we should be doing with Iran and Syria is “Stop interfering in Iraq or we’ll bomb you off the face of the earth.” Or “Stop screwing with Israel, or we’ll bomb you off the face of the earth.” They are terrorist states. We’re going to them to beg to be allowed to leave with some semblence of dignity. I just don’t see the point in having a great UN ambassador like Bolten in place when we’re dragging our national pride through the dirt in Iraq because the only trait left in Washington is expediency. To reflect our new “Please don’t hurt us” foreign policy approach, we need a good buttlicker to be our Ambassador to the UN. How about Goober Graham from South Carolina? He likes terrorists, is worried about their rights, and he’s been smooching John McCain’s butt for 6 years. He’d be perfect.

Lawrence,Lawrence,Lawrence,do you think they care about passing any tests?
No,they ared drunk with their new power and they cannot see, nor do they care.

A House Republican and Democrat, in the new spirit of bipartisanship, are urging President Bush to name defeated Republican Rep. Jim Leach to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations

Bipartisinship? It’s a deal breaker for me.

Said it before a few months ago when this scenario first came up, said it again on the other thread last night:

I’m in. You can count on me to donate all I can afford to pay Bolton’s salary if President Bush has the (gum)balls to do another Recess Appointment of Bolton.

PayPal at the ready.

LegendHasIt on November 14, 2006 at 7:08 PM

For the most part, the comments I’ve seen on HotAir (and other like-minded sites) agree that John Bolton is the man we want at the UN.

Also, most people seem to agree that, if he can’t get senate approval, we want Bush to recess appoint him (again). In this case, he will not be getting a salary. We don’t care, we say, we’ll cover his salary with donations.

What I haven’t seen is:

1) Any research as to whether or not Bolton can accept private money as his salary while he’s a government employee.

2) Any indication that Mr. Bolton is interested in doing the job for free (or for whatever money can be privately raised for him).

3) Anyone actually taking any steps to set up some form of donation collection for John Bolton (which, I’m assuming, should be started sooner, rather than later, unless his salary is closer to minimum wage than I think it is).

Now, before anyone gets smart and asks me why I’m not doing any of the things I’ve mentioned, I’d like to out myself as a 25 year old with a B.F.A. in drama. Research isn’t my thing and neither is setting up accounts/campaigns for donations (I don’t even balance my checkbook).

Surely there has to be someone out there with experience regarding this sort of thing that can start taking the necessary steps. I’m ready with my checkbook as soon as a (legitimate) “Donate for Bolton” site goes up.

JadeNYU, I applaud your bravery! Not for “outing” yourself in this crowd, but for being a conservative even after four years of liberal-arts-faculty brainwashing.

I have an old friend in a distant city who is a writer. When I visit him I am surrounded by a really interesting collection of writers, musicians, theater people, and even a few professional ballerinas. Great folks, but I have to be very careful about what I say around them — they go into a wierd liberal-zombie attack mode if I even hint at the dark, awful truth that I am — you know — one of those people. A conservative. Patriot-act enemy of the First Ammendment and all that.

We’ll keep your secret. Watch your back at NYU,

Great Vent Michelle!

The basic concepts of standing up for the national interests of the United States, supporting Israel, and advocating UN reform (if that is possible - I have my doubts) are very admirable. Bolton does indeed appear to be the right person for the job.

omegaram on November 14, 2006 at 10:33 PM

Bolten will not be our guy in the UN. He makes too much sense, and was nominated by the Bushitler. The American sheeple have spoken, and they want a new course. It must be a bend over and take it where the sun don’t shine stratigy, and we need the person in the UN to bend us over. Hmmmm, I am betting Dimmie Carter gets the job. He is real good at bending over. The whole deal makes me sick.

MalkinFan on November 14, 2006 at 11:51 PM

I added a ‘Confirm Bolton $$’ attention getter image to my ‘pseudo-bills’ collection at http://www.az123.com/pseudobills.htm for those that want something physical to send to their Senators (or other political hacks) on this topic.

LegendHasIt on November 15, 2006 at 12:57 AM

Israel and the US have lost a powerful ally for peace and stability. Mr. Bolton, thank you for your hard work, and you will be sorely missed!
