Another score for the Laura Ingraham Show. Why would Tom Tancredo be working with a guy who once suppported Ellis Island centers for illegals? Because with a “massive amnesty bill” coming from the White House, the time for intraparty squabbling is over.
Ignoring all my cautions about optimism as well as the hard lessons learned on election night, Mary K thinks Pence has a shot at winning:
It sounds like the race for Leader will certainly be uphill, but he said he’s been getting positive reaction from folks on the Hill. Will they do the right thing and elect a change of leadership?
I think, politically, they have to. Perception is reality in this case. I don’t even have a huge problem with Boehner. He stepped into what was already a bad situation when he became Majority Leader, but the fact remains that he is old leadership, and we need new leadership. And, given that we’ve got a competent, inspiring guy like Pence to provide it, I pray the Republicans will do the right thing. That does not, of course, mean they will.
They won’t.

Anyone stupid enough to actually think there’s still hope for this country deserves exactly what they will get.

I’ll need to see the exit poll data to confirm this landslide.

For what it’s worth, I sent the following to my congressman, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX):
Not that it’ll do any good. Brady’s one of those boys club bastards. And the people in my district (a safe Republican one) are too damned blinded by all the bacon he brings home.

Oops, sorry for the double post, didn’t think that first one got through because of a couple of choice words.

Idea! Since the new Republican party seems unwilling to do what it’s supporters voted them there to do, how about they at least give us something fun to root for. Here’s my thought for 2008
VP – Laura Ingraham
Sec of Defense – Ann Coulter
Peggy Noonan – Press Secretary
Kirsten Powers – Receptionist (heh, just kidding :))
and Michelle Malkin for President! Of course she’d have to dye her hair, because the theme is ‘Vote what really matters. Vote blonde.”
Admit it. It doesn’t matter who we vote for anymore, they are going to stab us in the back when they get to DC. Might as well choose people who are enjoyable to listen to as they twist the knife.
(Yeah, this Martinez thing really was the tipping point. I’m p*ssed.)

We all see who “thinks” they run the republican party, and maybe they do have alot of power. However, now THE PEOPLE must step up and put pressure on our elected representatives. WE are the party, those in Congress are OUR representatives! The Founding Fathers understood, and embraced, the fact that the true POWER of this country resides in the people. Thomas Jefferson said, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
Today a literal interpretation is nigh unto impossible, but figuratively, many leaders of our party have become tyrants and it is our duty, even privilege, to cut them off at the knees and remind them that they SERVE US!!!

Well said, Troy!
It is time to do some loggin’ folks!

Letters and phone calls. More letters and more phone calls. Revoke your party membership, or at the very least threaten to. A critical mass of pressure is the ONLY thing that will bring about an appropriate change of direction of the Republican party.
I don’t see Pence’s concept as a compromise. I believe it’s a fairly tough position, while being slightly short of universal deportation, something everybody thinks cannot be enforced.
We are a nation of laws, TO BE ENFORCED, or we will cease to be a nation as it is currently known.
Get Pence into a position, and Tancredo’s stock goes way up for ‘08. Right now, he’s the only Republican I could consider pulling the lever for.

Oh, and if MM and MKH can manage to mention Pence’s name on TV here and there, it couldn’t hurt.
I’m still wondering what happened to Michael Steele.
Freelancer on November 14, 2006 at 6:06 PM
Steele was railroaded, man…he was practically bilked out of that house seat by the MDMSM. Torks me off. I have a couple of friends that live there…and they’re both conservative.
The problem with conservatives is that even when they win, they still behave like they lost. The problem with democrats is that even when they lose, they still behave like they won.

Just the fact that “Ellis Island Center” Pence is the guy we have to pull for shows how abysmal the party’s state is.
Alex K on November 14, 2006 at 6:26 PM
blah blah blah
aaaaanyway, doesn’t Laura look great?!
Tony737 on November 14, 2006 at 7:07 PM

Never been so depressed by my Party in 36 years of voting and I live in Wisconsin.
Sent in more money to GOP this year then ever, (4% of my income). But will not do so anymore.
Feel GW and party leaders have lost complete touch with the base.
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
