San Francisco is simultaneously Mecca and Mordor for me. I'm really hoping I can resist its call. It's a really nice place to visit, and I love its close ties to the tech/Internet community but I don't know if I could stand the suffocation of its socialist tendencies.

Thankfully, though, it doesn't really represent California or Democrats.

Oh, and a preemptive war on the first ignoranus to make a crack about Mordor and Mecca being synonymous.

There's a novel everyone should read called Prayers for the Assassin by Robert Ferrigno, set in 2028 or so in an America that has been taken over by IslamoFascists.
San Francisco has been radically changed, with the heads of the executed homosexuals displayed on the Golden Gate Bridge...
There's a lot more, but you get the idea.
Liberalism has clearly almost destroyed the great city of San Francisco, but it need not destroy the rest of this country and I don't believe it will.
But we have a lot of work to do and not the kind Nancy thinks.
One of our biggest mistakes in this election was for all of us, from Bush on down, to make a joke of Nancy "measuring her Speaker's office for drapes."
The Dems feel that they must back her, no matter what, even though the people didn't vote for her Left wing of the DNC.
We'll see how long this marriage of convenience between the moderate Dems and the Leftists will last. I predict not very long.

thanks Connie
We can use those federal tax dollars
And if SF has that opinion then frankly, lets take the bill o'reilly approach. SF is now open to be blown up; the US military will not protect it and the SF police (the few left you haven't thrown out of their jobs for doing their jobs you sorry fools) can protect the entire area from osama and all the criminals with guns.
I'm not a huge fan of guns but all you have to do, connie, is see hte british crime rates for everything including homicide. WAYY over ours.

You don’t like San Francisco? Good! Stay out. -- Connie

...can I keep my federal tax dollars out of San Francisco? Too many of them find their way to that Commune By The Bay, which seems to've empowered itself to decide how much of the common burdern -- defense, cooperation with federal law enforcement on immigration issues, that sort of thing -- it feels it will carry.

San Francisco is like France...it's impressed with itself to the point that it has problems making friends. Why not seceed, fellas? I could almost promise you that, this time, nobody'll let out a peep....

How could you hate the city that gave us Rice-a-Roni, Haight-Ashbury, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Tanner’s? Oh, good times, good memories… -- JaHerer22

The amount of trading activity on the stock market has little effect on the lives of average Americans; most don’t own stock

I generally don't choose to respond to your rants, CAPTAIN ANGRYCAPS, but this one particular passage from your recent characteristically overlong, poorly referenced, insult-laced screed was beyond the pale.

And Democrats can’t seem to grasp that 4.4% unemployment and a DOW over 11,000 means that the economy is at full employment and growing and that Bush’s tax cuts were the right medicine for the CLINTON RECESSION that President Bush inherited.

The current unemployment rate is part of a trend that started during the Clinton presidency; look it up. The amount of trading activity on the stock market has little effect on the lives of average Americans; most don't own stock, and it doesn't mean that those who do have seen their stock values increase. Perhaps you could explain how the "Clinton recession" worked... Bush started with a budget surplus, and he and his out-of-control congress ran up a record deficit. Nice work by those guys.

Carry on, and continue to do what you do best, George: embarrass yourself.

Constantine, you write:

"You don’t like San Francisco? Good! Stay out."

I intend to. San Jose is quite liberal enough for me, and has the advantage of its street corners not being crowded with panhandlers reeking of urine. I ask only that you kindly cease exporting your city's political idiocy to the rest of California, and the nation.

This is what is coming to America if GWB and Pelosi get Comprehensive Immigration Reform aka Amnesty for 30 million criminal invaders and counting.

Too late. Done deal. Nothing we can do to stop it now since the only man who can veto it is in love with it.

This is what we were given as a gift, courtesy of all those conservatives and Independents who voted to punish the GOP. They punished themselves. Brilliant tactic.

I still live in California and it is a third world cesspool as a result of the Invasion from Mexico.

We have cities like Maywood that have taken over by the Mexican mafia and have had the justice department taking over the city councils from the corrupt Mexican puppets. that got elected by Illegal Aliens registered by the DNC, Maldef, and La Raza.

The current Mayor is a former gang banger and a proud member of Mecha. He gives speeches in Spanish despite the citizens passing a prop that requires English only.

I have placed my house on the market and am getting the hell out of this Mexican Province.

Wyoming here I come.

Constantine, the troll, must have taken his "stupid pills" this morning -- again.

Constantine wrote: "After a President/VP impeachment, Pelosi could do absolutely nothing and still do a better job than the current clowns."

Doubtful. Democrats are too STUPID to govern this country. They nominated a serial sexual predator, draft dodger and military/CIA hater for President (whose election proved that the opponents of "President Penis" were right all along), and then in 2004, they nominated a traitor/seditionist whose own crew said he would "RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY" when his swift boat would come under enemy fire. Say, did you know that John Kerry served in Vietnam? Four months!

And Democrats can't seem to grasp that 4.4% unemployment and a DOW over 11,000 means that the economy is at full employment and growing and that Bush's tax cuts were the right medicine for the CLINTON RECESSION that President Bush inherited.

And they refuse to drum out of their party a KKK Kleagle, who no doubt participated in cross burnings and harassment of African-Americans and who still uses the "N-word", a gay man who actually HAD GAY SEX with House Pages, not just wrote naughty emails to them, and another gay man (who still sits in the House, BTW) whose boyfriend ran a gay whorehouse out of his House of Rep. office.

Constantine wrote: "As far as the gun control measure, perhaps San Franciscans are aware that a gun in the home is 4 times more likely to be involved in an unintentional shooting, 7 times more likely to be used to commit a criminal assault or homicide, and 11 times more likely to be used to attempt or commit suicide than to be used in self-defense."

Constantine continue to prove to the world how STUPID and GULLIBLE he is, especially when it comes to firearms. He's been brainwashed by Handgun Control, Inc (currently hiding behind the name of the "Brady Center"). Everybody with more functioning brain cells that liberals like Constantine have knows that guns in the hands of law abiding citizens SAVE innocent lives and MORE GUNS means LESS CRIME.

Constantine wrote: 'If military recruitment wants to feel welcome in a progressive town, perhaps they shouldn’t use deceptive practices– and I’m not only talking about the egregious “we’re not at war” statements, but the kind of fine print that states, for example, none of the recruiters’ promises are binding."

Constantine, like many (if not most) San Franciscans is not patriotic. He's a hypocrite as he enjoys the protections provided by a strong military, but doesn't want military recruiters in his town. Guns and soldiers are just too "icky" for Constantine and his crowd.

They expressed their contempt for even those in "The Greatest Generation" who served in WWII by the city council of San Francisco voting down the permanent basing of the decommissioned battleship USS Iowa as a floating museum because it was too "icky" and "militaristic."

Constantine wrote: "You don’t like San Francisco? Good! Stay out. More good food, culture and beautiful scenery for the rest of us Californians."

I haven't visited San Francisco since 1983 and I have no intention to do so in the forseable future. I'd much rather visit San Diego, anyway. But I'll make a deal with you. YOU keep your stinkin' traitorous carcas out of northern Illinois and the Chicago metro area, and I'll CONTINUE to stay away from San Francisco.

A "Press Release" I'd like to see (shamelessly stolen from a usenet poster some time ago) that expresses my contempt for the anti-war, pro-enemy, nature of San Francisco and across the bay, Berkeley. Enjoy!

Washington, DC, December 1, 2005 (via TraitorNet)

The Department of the Navy released the following communiqué from Assistant Undersecretary of the Navy for Training and Morale, Lucian V. Patriot:

"The Department of the Navy, speaking for the Department of Defense, accepts with pleasure the application of the City of San Francisco, California, to be the new site of its live-fire training and exercise facility. Since the closing of the Visquenes facility in Puerto Rico, the Navy has been searching for a replacement site for live-fire exercises of Navy and Marine assets, prior to deployment on active duty.

We are pleased to announce that San Francisco, with it's passage of "Measure I," to prohibit military recruitment and other measures to "opt out" of participating in the national defense, along with its Bay neighbor, Berkeley, has been selected to permanently host the new San Francisco Bay Area Military Training Facility.

While plans are still in a formative stage, it is expected that the new facility will extend to several sites in the Bay Area. Part of this facility, "The San Francisco Nest of Traitors Live-Fire Training and Exercise Area," will host intensive urban warfare training, using live ammunition, for segments of America's military including most units of the United States Marines, Air Force, Army, and of course the US Navy. Projected activities will include finely tuned Tomahawk Missile and army/naval bombardment artillery strikes on buildings such as City Hall, the Transamerica building, and the Embarcadero, which will also be used for amphibious landing training.

Other activities, including live bayonet exercises and massed riflery fire, will be conducted across the Bay in Berkeley at the new "Berkeley Nest of Traitors Live-Fire Training and Exercise Area at USC Berkeley," on the campus quad for both Marine and Army infantry units, and the use of the Berkeley City administrative center for air-to-ground practice for both Navy, Marine Air, and Air Force squadrons. Other city and university facilities in the Bay Area will be utilized for exercises and will feature use of Marine and Army armored vehicles and rotary winged aircraft.

Separate exercises will be conducted in defense against bio-chemical warfare using live agents in these urban environments. Techniques on urban war fighting in that environment, as well as practice in the offensive use of these weapons, will be taught within the Facility, which in effect, includes the entire San Francisco Bay Area but which will center on the City of San Francisco.

The Cities of San Francisco and Berkeley and university campus at Berkeley, long reservoirs of hatred against the United States military, and ardent supporters of countries and political philosophies hostile to the United States, will also serve a useful morale purpose, giving personal validation to military personnel as they train for insertion to areas of similar anti-US hostility such as Iraq.

Dates to begin operation and the schedule of individual training exercises will be announced shortly."

The eminent domain proposition was voted down not so much because Californians approve of eminent domain, but because it also attempted to curtail regulatory takings. Opponents of the measure very successfully demagogued the latter point: "If this passes, the state and municipalities won't be able to pass land use restrictions like zoning ordinances and environmental regulations without paying ransom to developers!"

If an eminent domain reform measure were placed straight-up on the ballot, I'm pretty sure it would pass.

California once again voted down parental notification. They also voted down the eminent domain proposition, apparently feeling they are perfectly fine having their properties yanked out from under them to build Wal Marts.

Oh, no- no Walmarts... those are EVIL. Only condos and golf courses and luxury hotels- more tax revenue from those, with the added benefit of employing the new generation of third-world anchor babies.

It's interesting to note how just any old, humor-impaired, rightie-schleb, (like me) can riff on rightie cliches because that's what he knows intimately.

Likewise, SNL can succesfully satorize the Lefties, but their attempts at satorizing us often fails.

(Iowahawk can do both, but that's because he's a genius. MENSA-fodder, IMO.)

They could have Gay Pride and EARTH FIRST! and PETA Parades everyday, and I wouldn't care (I don't live in SFO, so the noise would be distant)- as long as they understood that you have to DEFEND YOUR COUNTRY.

That they ignorantly abet the newest fascistic Creed of Intolerance, and its avowed gay-bashing, misogynistic dogmas is a stunning piece of wilfull blindness. (As bad as the mental contortionism that Stalin apologists went through after the Soviet-Nazi Pact.) And that they give aid and comfort to the shameless infil-traitors who are attempting to insert into our laws an alien ideology in order to have it slowly replace the shield of the Bill of Rights with their own Sword, without any serious questions, shows the appalling intellectual vapidity and instinctual vacuity of these stolid sleepwalkers.

I’ll have none of this California bashing. San Diego is a wonderful city.

Come on! I've lived in California nearly my entire life. It's a mess. It's a disaster really. While it's beautiful from a visual perspective ... everything else is about as bad as it gets in this country.

California once again voted down parental notification. They also voted down the eminent domain proposition, apparently feeling they are perfectly fine having their properties yanked out from under them to build Wal Marts.

There is really no defense for what's happening to this State.

I gladly second that. Outside of SF proper, and LA proper, the Californian population is 'painted' with an unfair looney brush.

Gerrymandering dictates the make-up of the CA legislature but the propositions, including the last ones (with the exception of 90/eminent domain), are generally passed in a conservative or balanced way. Not even the 'tax-the-smokers-blindly' bill passed. Also not, the Gore/Clinton/Redford deceiving energy bill.

Californians are actually pretty discerning people, in spite of much craziness which originates here. After all don't forget we've got Hollywood too.

Having traveled to San Jose for business for many years, I attest that, outside of SF proper, the places and people are quite sane and normal up there.

Undoubtedly, though, N. Pelosi represents the core of SF, either which way she'll try to renege on it now. She has a 'rich' voting record to prove it.
