Video: Music to lose your majority by
posted at 5:04 pm on November 12, 2006 by Allahpundit
The latest from red-state auteur Sout al-Kuffar. Since I started working at HA, I can’t watch something like this without wondering how many hours it took to make it.
Figure somewhere between “a lot” and “more than you’d believe.”
The Truth Laid Bear is soliciting questions for the new GOP leadership candidates. Here’s one for Boehner and Blunt: “How many more seats do you plan on crapping away in ’08?”
Say, is that Godsmack?
Update: More of Sout al-Kuffar’s greatest hits at Jawa central.

Did the maker of this video have to rely on anti-Catholic imagery to get his theme across?
FormerLiberal on November 12, 2006 at 5:15 PM
Agreed 100% — “business as usual” just got our ass kicked.
Ali-Bubba on November 12, 2006 at 5:16 PM
What anti-Catholic imagery?
ViperPilot on November 12, 2006 at 5:20 PM
Yeah, I didn’t see the anti-Catholic imagery either.
Allahpundit on November 12, 2006 at 5:21 PM
I loved the ominous beat and the words “the whole enchilada” with Hillary’s picture appearing ever so subconsciously.
The wolves never lose all their hairs – one must pick new ones (I mean wolves, not hairs).
Entelechy on November 12, 2006 at 5:21 PM
I “agreed” with the video, not “Former Liberal.”
If there was “anti-Catholic imagery” there, I didn’t see it. Maybe it was like the raaaaaacism in that RNC ad, so subtle we couldn’t see it ….
Ali-Bubba on November 12, 2006 at 5:22 PM
GodSmack has some of the coolest music. I liked it.
zerodamage on November 12, 2006 at 5:42 PM
Yeah, I didn’t see the anti-Catholic imagery either.
It’s all in the font.
And the drums.
Is that Sinead O’Connor?
Slublog on November 12, 2006 at 5:44 PM
Was it the candles? Sacrificing a priest? Or maybe it’s that bribe money, err… lobbyist money, transubstantiates into the body of Reagan.
pedestrian on November 12, 2006 at 5:45 PM
I think I will be writing a letter to Rep. Porter (R-NV)soon.
The music fit the mood magnificently.
TwinkietheKid on November 12, 2006 at 5:51 PM
Yes. That is Godsmack.

F*ck. Chilblains. F*ck.

The GOP has a choice, they can give the power to the people or to the Democrats. Who knows, they may be content with the crumbs of power the Dems throw at them as they were between 1954–1994.
Valiant on November 12, 2006 at 6:30 PM
“Voodoo”, good song, even better album. Godsmack are big supporters of the war on terror. They even let their music be used for Navy commercials.
Scot on November 12, 2006 at 6:33 PM
Do these guys only want power for power sakes?
Nice vid.
Clark1 on November 12, 2006 at 6:40 PM
Great video. Thanks for the link AP and let’s hope it gets out to as many people as possible.

For all you Comcast subscribers who have inHD, you might want to keep a lookout for a USO concert from a couple of years ago. Godsmack was there and they played Stranglehold with Ted Nugent.

But my more considered response is that the deeper problem is the ever-useful, never-realized promise of “social welfare.” As long as the American federal government has a budget of $2,500,000,000,000 and is permitted to pay for more and more, and regulate more and more, that money and that power will continue to attract rulers of the sort portrayed in the video.
Nor do I think Republicans can safely overlook, among the causes of their electoral defeat, John McCain’s having authored “campaign finance reform” legislation that shut down conservative activists in the last six weeks of the campaign. And there are the rulers who voted for his legislation, and the ruler who signed and made it a law. You’re to be coddled, you’re to be taxed, you’re to be controlled, you’re to be replaced by masses of immigrants, and you’re to shut up and accept all of it, until your own country and town look like dead Europe.
Your Nanny State must be defeated by every prudent means. It is the will of God, who is Foresighted, Forewarning.

And I think that open tag works well enough. Sometimes accidents are better than intentions.
Kralizec on November 12, 2006 at 7:09 PM
I agree with Allah. Took lots of time to get that one put together.
I do see the anti-Catholic imagery too, but you’d have to be pretty sensitive to read it that way. All the bad guys are monks (Catholic monks). The Illuminati reference is also there. Everything is a plot from Rome or some horsepuckey like that.
Anyway, I can see it, but I don’t choose to believe it was really anti-Catholic. Just a convenient bit of history to use to make one’s point.
And with that said, I think the small lesson to be learned from that is not to get one’s panties in a wad over some supposed slight, and a possible inability to find the humor in even the darkest references or situations.
All in all, a good video, and a thoughtful subject. Now I want folks in charge who intend to win in Iraq, and continue to fight and win everywhere radical Islam rears its ugly head. If the Dhimmicrats can do so, then good for them. If they can’t (and I don’t believe they can), then I want them crushed before the country goes under the nuclear fire which is surely headed this way. So get to it, both of you.

It’s not anti-Catholic. I just watched it again.
You will see that when they show “The Brotherhood,” they are in front of the eye-and-pyramid symbol from the dollar bill.
This symbol is widely believed to be Masonic imagery. It is a fact that Washington and many of the Founders were Freemasons.
The robes, the candles — it’s like a Masonic ritual, or perhaps kind of like the Omegas in “Animal House.” The catacombs, the sacrifice: It’s all occultish and mysterious, you see.
The suggestion being made is that the Republican leadership in Congress has become like some kind of secret cult, a controlling fraternity dedicated to its own power and self-enrichment.
Given this interpretation — and trust me, I’m the guy who deconstructed the “Call Me, Harold” ad — no insult to Catholics was intended, and none should be taken.
Ali-Bubba on November 12, 2006 at 7:54 PM
Please, please, please can we take it back again???!!!
wv2sc on November 12, 2006 at 8:08 PM
Godsmack is into Wicca and the imagery comes from the video for the song “voodoo”. My links never work on here so if you want to see the original video just go to you tube and search Godsmack Voodoo.
Scot on November 12, 2006 at 8:30 PM
There is nothing particularly anti-Catholic about this video. The fact that they are dressed in black robes is meant to conjure of images of occultism and Satanism. Some early Satanic groups were impressed by, and apparently emulated, the ritualism of the Catholic church. This was not an attack on Catholics, just an illustration of the fact that the representatives portrayed are part of the “dark side.”
As for claims of Freemasonry-inspired symbolism: the idea that the eye-and-the-pyramid are Masonic symbols is an incorrect if popular myth. The eye-and-the-pyramid play absolutely no role in Masonic symbolism. Clearly, the author included the symbol because (a) it invokes money and (b) the Egyptian-style motif looks like an occult symbol. It is true that some of the Founding Fathers were members of the Freemasons, though the actual number has likely been greatly exaggerated by some hyperbolic authors.

Good vid. I’m finished whining about last week and ready to fight for the future.
NTWR on November 12, 2006 at 9:28 PM
Probably only Catholics think that it was anti-Catholic imagery. Looked like Sith Lords to me. Forget the images and remember the message-Get our house in order in two years, and don’t settle for Republicans who moderated us into this mess.
Go Conservative, and yell at your representatives. Watch the Doves like Hawks.

Hey, y’all.
I’m Ragnar from The Jawa Report. I did the video–and yes, it does take a ton of time. I don’t keep close track.
Two points:
1. Now, I thought I might get labeled a “racist” for using a song with drums in it, but the “anti-Catholic” angle had never even occurred to me. Other than that, I’ll leave it to you to sort out the symbolism.
2. I’ve never seen the video for the song, but I’m sure it’s fairly close to this one in the imagery.
Ragnar on November 12, 2006 at 9:37 PM
Excellent work, Ragnar. Just excellent.
tickleddragon on November 12, 2006 at 11:04 PM
Excellent, Ragnar. Fantastic video. I like your video much better than Godsmack’s original video.
tommy1 on November 12, 2006 at 11:46 PM
Hey FormalLiberal? I gotta say, I didn’t see or feel any anti-Catholic vibe here.
And I’d get pretty durn fired up if I thought it did have that.
Just my two cents.
EFG on November 13, 2006 at 12:15 AM
Keep in mind, FormalLiberal, I’m not tryin’ to slam you or nothing. I’m just sayin’ that I didn’t get that feeling.
EFG on November 13, 2006 at 12:17 AM
Voodoo adopted some Catholic rituals and imagery. Did Ragnar have to rely on anti-voodoo imagery to get his theme across? Between that and the drumbeats, I’m inconsolably offended.
Great video here and the A-Team at jawa report. Thank you.

So freaking tired of Copperplate.

Human Events agrees with getting rid of Boehner. They’re actually pushing Mike Pence from Indiana as a Reagan conservative that would do a great job as Minority leader.
Here are other articles from Human Events in this vein.
Pence and Shadegg are the conservative candidates.
New Leadership is Needed.
Hopefully the links will work.
