Kos threatens to have Carville cashiered

I guess if you can believe that Ned Lamont singlehandedly saved the Democratic Party, you can believe you’re in a position to intimidate James Carville. Saith the leader of The Movement With No Leader re: the Ragin’ Cajun’s objections to Howard Dean:

Dean was elected. If Carville has a master plan to stage a coup against Dean, I’d love to see it. But I doubt the state party chairs who provided Dean’s margin of victory are going to get too torn up about the fact that Dean is helping fund their resurgence.

Carville needs to shut the [fark] up. If he wants a war, we’ll give him one.

And it won’t be a war that DC can win.

There’s more of us than there are of them.

We just got done having to support Joe Lieberman. Now we’re going to have to support Carville. Then what? How far will it go? What happens if other Democrats get dragged in and we have to support—

No, let us speak of this no more.

Joementum has decided he’s officially a Democrat again. That’s the bad news. The good news, if you believe Larry Sabato, is that Jim Webb isn’t — and that the left is in for a rude awakening once he starts casting votes. Between the two of them, he and Liebs are going to have an awful lot to do with what with gets done between now and Election ‘08.

Hawkish lib Peter Beinart is starting to realign himself, too, and not in a good way. As is Rick Moran, who, like Beinart, sees before him an unbridgeable divide — but of a more intramural nature.

Exit question: headline of the year thus far?

If I had to make a list of who I would support in a contest of morality, James Carville would be awfully close.

To the bottom.

If the dumber wants to fight with the dumberer, I say let them.

We just got done having to support Joe Lieberman.

I for one told us not to, as did others on this site….

ScottG on November 10, 2006 at 6:38 PM

Is it just the nutroots imploding or is it the whole Dem party? They get some power and they lose their fracking minds.

E L Frederick on November 10, 2006 at 6:39 PM

Is it me or does Carville resemble an unraveled mummy left in direct sunlight?

x95b10 on November 10, 2006 at 6:40 PM

ELF, you noticed that, too? Lord I was so hoping that their “getting control” of both houses would mean they’d shut up and get busy–too much to hope, I guess. And this is just Day 3…
It’s gonna be a long war and a long 2 years.
Pass the Scotch, the Excedrin and the popcorn because it’s gonna be kind of fun, in a Masque-of-the-Red-Death kind of way.

Jen the Neocon on November 10, 2006 at 6:42 PM

Virginia Democrats have to run as centrists or conservatives to get elected. Wasn’t Chuck Robb also pretty much a centrist?

Webb probably looked at the victory margin and decided he can’t vote as a liberal if he wants to stay Virginia’s senator or if he has any future political ambitions. Even with the “Macaca” incident, he just barely won.

The biggest impact of this election was not Republicans losing; it was Democrats becoming more conservative. Those who supported Lamont will soon get that message.

januarius on November 10, 2006 at 6:42 PM

Do the Democrats remind anyone else of Hamas or is it just me?

Jen the Neocon on November 10, 2006 at 6:43 PM

If Carville has a master plan to stage a coup against Dean, I’d love to see it.

Uh, Markos? If the Serpanty is planning to crush Dean, you’ll be greasing the treads of the tank he shows up into do it.

Better get a new DLC radioactivity plan in the works, KKKid.

Pablo on November 10, 2006 at 6:43 PM

Aren’t recriminatons and threats after an election supposed to be restricted to the party that loses?

Thanks Kos – you’re going to provide us a lot of entertainment while we are here on the sidelines.

From the article

LOSER: China, because Democrats are more hostile to trade with it.

WRONG. China is a HUGE winner with the Democrats in charge, because:

(1) While Republicans were in bed with China on trade, they are less in bed with China than the democrats, and they support holding China accountable, whereas Democrats let China slide in the interests of ‘friendship’ and ‘good relations’

(2) Republicans will not give in to Chinese efforts to intimidate and bully, Democrats will

(3) Republicans will defend Taiwan, Democrats will take threats to Taiwan on a case-by-case basis, and will avoid an ugly war with China by refusing to defend Taiwan if they can. Even if the democrats do fight, they will do so in a half-assed way and try to end the conflict as soon as they can by giving concessions

(4) Democrats oppose many large, expensive defense budget programs that are largely being pushed by the pentagon because of the growing threat from the Chinese military buildup

(5) Democrats can’t actually interfere with Chinese trade because now that China is in the WTO, China can use the WTO against the US much like Europe did with the Steel dispute.

(6) Democrats, for all their talk, will not pressure North Korea or try to isolate it as the Republicans have done. Instead, the Democrat approach to North Korea is to give it concessions in exchange for promises. This failed once before, and the Democrats have postured that Bush hasn’t attacked North Korea, but the reality is that the democrats would never launch a pre-emtive strike on North Korea, it is too antithetical to their ideology. This greatly benefits China by allowing China to continue using North Korea as a ‘bad cop’ to gain leverage against the US.

(7) Democrats will horse trade arms sales to Taiwan, cutting them in order to get things they want from China.

(8) Democrats greatly fear wars, so China can act more aggressively and its neighbors will cave in to China, fearing that the US will not back them up in the event of hostilities.

(9) Democrats will embrace China is only to spite the growing number of people, overwhelmingly conservatives, who regard China as a threat.

Is it me or is Madam Pelosi’s rack looking rather fetching as of late? Between her an Britney I’m not sure whose chesticles have been on display more the past several days.

How long until the nutroots realize she’s just another pretty face who slept her way to the top?

Okay, that was a bit much, even by my standards, I’ll be back when I’m done bleaching my mind’s eye.

phineas g. on November 10, 2006 at 7:00 PM

AP, why do you even bother to defend Carville?
He’s one of the most vicious political strategists I’ve seen in my life (I’m only 34, but anyway). I can’t stand the guy (or understand him when he speaks, with that cajun accent).
LET THEM KILL EACH OTHER!!! Just like the Republicans weren’t able to do much in Congress, because of their internal divisions (dammit!), I don’t think Dems will do much either. Unless Mama Pelo and Daddy Reid lay down the law early and doesn’t allow anybody to stray.
Let’s see how that works for them after a while.
And AP, make sure you lay out the Dems problems for the world to see.

“it’s gonna be kind of fun, in a Masque-of-the-Red-Death kind of way.”

Nice one.

The Moran link is really disturbing and I thin–I hope–k he’s panicking over nothing. I think the social-con/libertarian split is only going to happen if we talk ourselves into it.

Mike Rosen of 850 KOA mentions Daily Kos in the final paragraph of his Friday Rocky Mountain News column today, “crowd of angry, blogging, left-wing ideologues who serve as the party’s shock troops these days, sort of like Mao’s Red Guards.” -

After initially dwelling on Clinton’s Whitewater land deal, the White House Travel Office, and other political minutiae, the GOP in 1998 tried to use Clinton’s lies about his affair with Monica Lewinsky to remove him altogether.

And this is a comparison to…? And, Peter Beinart, your point is?
Peter, that’s the small stuff. We did leave out the BIG felonies like rape and …how do I say this, people going dead.

see-dubya, I don’t think it’s a social-con/libertarian split, but it is a “movement” from within the Right of the atheists in our midst to blame and eschew the Christian Conservatives.
I’ve been hearing this here and there over the last few days and they use phone election stats to say, “You Right Wing Christians killed us with Schiavo, with your stance on abortion and embryonic stem cells, and your homophobia and opposition to gay marriage.”
I’d pay them no mind if I were you…Rick is the brother of ABC’s Terry Moran and he called Ronald Reagan a “deist,” among other things.
If this people wanna leave “us,” bye-bye, cause I’m not gonna quit being a values voter no matter how much they tell us we’re stupid, retarditaire, Christian freaks.
“If it wasn’t for you and your principles, we could have won on Tuesday…”
Actually, if you look at the votes, the people voted for all those same values, too. Who’d a thunk it?

The Senate is 49/49. Can Trent Lott suggest to Harry Reid a power sharing agreement? Webb may be to the right of 40 of the GOP Senators. We can only hope some of Reagan rubbed off on him.

I agree, but the fact is Carville would eat Kos for lunch. The only decision would be whether to grill him Cajun style, or swallow him whole like a water moccasin.

We just got done having to support Joe Lieberman. Now we’re going to have to support Carville.

Why? Because Kos is attacking him?

I’d like to strong party that is remotely responsible on national security that could serve as an alternative to the Republicans. Nothing wrong with supporting Democrats who are strong on national security, but unfortunately he left. If Kos wants to have a war with Carville, hand me some popcorn.
