Khamenei: Democratic victory is Iran’s victory; Update: Iraq AQ: We’ll blow up the White House

As InstaGlenn might say: well, yeah.

Iran’s most powerful leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush’s defeat in the congressional elections an “obvious victory” for the Iranian nation.

“This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush’s hawkish policies in the world,” Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran’s student news agency ISNA on Friday.

“Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation.”

It’s a return to “realism.” Reality-based realism. Starring, um, George McGovern.

Syria sounds pretty jazzed about it, too.

Meanwhile, in Iraq, the local unterfuhrer has a message for “the lame duck.”

Update: Speaking of which.

Update: Dirka dirka Mohammed jihad.

CrimsonFisted on November 10, 2006 at 10:47 AM

Are you saying just because the Democrat takeover of Congress is approved by the theocratic regime of Iran that somehow the Iran mullahs and Democrats are on the same side?

WHY ARE YOU QUESTIONING OUR PATRIOTISM!?!?!?

Insh’allah.

Enrique on November 10, 2006 at 10:49 AM

As I said to countless liberals before the election – do not vote similarly to people who want you killed.

Ah, but the deaf ears. Iraq will turn into another Greece, probably. A country that hates us because we promised to back them up and did not. Greece with the communists; and Iraq with the Jihadists.

I cross posted this under another topic. You need to see the people that support Keith Ellison.

Hell, that’s a badge of honor to some of them, certainly over at DU and Kos.

If I had any graphic talent, I would superimpose photos of the Iranian mullahs over several photos of the new democratic leadership with an appropriate slogan.

That’s right, better get used to saying that. Also, “there is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his prophet.”

If you think the taxes will be bad under a Democrat Congress, just wait for the Dhimmi tax that we’ll all be paying in, oh let’s say in about 20 years.

Who elected that dude? I bet you’ve got about 25% of his voting block running to seek a recall right now. Bunch of proud “middle of the roaders” swaying with the public against the GOP just put him in office and had NO idea what they were doing.

I have an uncle who lives in Rochester, MN, just south of the Twin Cities. They were fully aware of who he was and the fact that he was a Muslim, however MN is the state that brought you Paul Wellstone, Hubert Humphrey and other heroes of the liberal movement. Some newspapers stories characterized this guy as a Paul Wellstone Dem the kool aid drinkers could care less about anything else. I asked him if my aunt was getting fitted for a burqua yet, my uncle is very conservative NRA type, and I thought I was going to put him in an early grave. I did invite him to move south.

LakeRuins on November 10, 2006 at 11:31 AM

Main point…..the enemy has absolutely no idea what America is about. They have and will continue to misread us.
They, like many dead generals, will believe that the outcome of a battle is predetermined in their favor based on that analysis. They will act.

Get ready. Dem or Rep you better get ready.

Limerick on November 10, 2006 at 11:34 AM

It always cracks me up how libs quote state owned news media from all over the world and say “Look! SEE? The whole world hates Bush!” No, only those places in the world where either they are not free (and only their govt hates us) or where they don’t appreciate what freedoms they do have. Our so called “allies” in Western Europe want us to be passive (democrat) so that we can be turned socialist like them, therefore just as socially and economically weak as they.

Our enemies, N. Korea, Iran, Cuba, etc also want us to vote democrat so that we’ll be weak and unable to oppose their plans to take over whatever hapless country shares a border with ‘em or support whatever terrorist group they sponsor and some day in th not too distant future where they impose their religious ways upon us.

Our TRUE allies, like those in Eastern Europe who were once ruled by the Soviets, appreciate their new found freedom and WANT us to be strong (Republican) and able to help them preserve those freedoms.

Therefore, I say go ahead “liberals”, go out and celebrate your “victory”. Meanwhile, in a cave somewhere, several jihadis are celebrating with you, a huge smile running across their faces while they sharpen their swords and plan for the day in which they slice your throat and raise the green flag of islam over the Capitol building.

Congradulations.

Tony737 on November 10, 2006 at 11:34 AM

The Democrats are apparently the only people in the entire world who don’t realize that the Democrats are a joke when it comes to national security. All of our enemies certainly realize it.

November 7th was Bad Guy F’n Christmas. Now they have a green light to do anything they want, because the U.S. Congress no longer has the guts or spine to stop them. No wonder Israel is thinking about acting on their own.

ReubenJCogburn on November 10, 2006 at 11:34 AM

jman on November 10, 2006 at 11:37 AM

On the whole I agree with you, jman, since not voting for a Republican was essentially a vote for a Democrat. However, it isn’t the fault of the stay-at-homes that the Democrats are so pathetically weak and feckless on national security–that responsibility is theirs alone. If both of our major political parties were credible on national defense, we’d be a whole lot less screwed as a country right now. (And yeah, I agree, that’s all the more reason for them not to have stayed home on Tuesday.)

Here’s a great idea, lets not even bother with elections. They are ugly and expensive; we can just ask the terrorists who they want to win and then put the opposite party in power. It sounds like everyone pretty much thinks their opinion should decide who we vote for, so why not?

JaHerer22 on November 10, 2006 at 12:01 PM

pocomoco on November 10, 2006 at 12:11 PM

I agree ReubenJCogburn.

I won’t say that in this election we had to choose between “the lesser of two evils”

Instead I think we had “the evil of two lessers” and the democratic party is, in my mind, the lesser of the two.

The democrate are responsible for their horrific policies. The people who chose the lesser party (and those who did not choose at all) are responsible for putting them there.

jman on November 10, 2006 at 12:20 PM

Yakko77 on November 10, 2006 at 12:23 PM

JaHerer22, if it bothers you that your party is so worthless on defense that our enemies are dancing in the streets now, how about you be mad at them for being worthless instead of us for pointing it out? Either way, we’re all equally screwed, but at least some of us had enough sense of self-preservation not to vote them into office.

The only ray of light I’m seeing here, is that if they do in fact, attack the White House…even folks on the other side of the aisle will be pissed and want to fight back. They think we’re safe, and that Repubs were exaggerating the dangers. Destroyed White House, it becomes real and personal again, just like 9/11. Regardless of WHO occupies the WH. What do you think that Mr. Dewey would’ve done with such a letter? After he’d torn it up and pissed on it, he’d probably feel ashamed.

What are the Democrats doing with just that sort of support from Teheran, places like Falluja and Tikrit, and the caves of Pakistan?

…well, it doesn’t seem to make ‘em uncomfortable.

Then again, Hitler was evil. These new guys aren’t evil. We’ve outgrown evil, haven’t we. All this “Death to the West” stuff can be easily nipped in the bud. We just talk to ‘em. They’re feeling shunned, dissed and are in pain. Poor little dears.

Puritan1648 on November 10, 2006 at 1:21 PM

I was excoriated 3 years ago for stating that the Democrats and the terrorists were on the same side, but it’s small comfort to get conformation like this.
What’s sadder is that the jihadis didn’t have to blow up trains and kill 200 and injure 500 to get the election they wanted as they did in Spain…they just got 100 of our guys in Iraq.

Wake up, America! We’ve got a lot bigger problems than the minimum wage or Mark Foley’s private emails!
This war isn’t going to be over until we summon the will to fight. Hurry up, because our enemies most definitely have the will to kill us and they are legion and they are coming!

I still can’t understand why the RNC didn’t do a montage ad of all these terrorist groups endorsing Democrats for the House and Senate.

The RNC played it too safe in this election. They ran a politically correct campaign. They preferred to lose rather than offend Dems and Muslim groups in America.

From the article in the headline on Drudge right now:

On the audio tape made available on militant Web sites, the al-Qaida in Iraq leader also welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. He added that the group’s fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.

“The al-Qaida army has 12,000 fighters in Iraq, and they have vowed to die for God’s sake,” a man who identified himself as Abu Hamza al- Muhajir said.

And the Dems want to pull out from Iraq because Iraq had no ties to terrorist groups. Yet they have 12,000 Al Qaeda troops there.

Wow, they have really been emboldened by Dems. There are 12,000 Al Qaeda troops in Iraq, and the Dems want to withdraw. Hey, that’s a logical conclusion: We withdraw and they come to us and blow up the White House.

Maybe the White House didn’t campaign hard because they wanted stories like these to come out to show the American public what a world would be like with the Dems in charge.

Republican Victory 2008!

The good news is the Dems are not in charge of our defense or foreign policy. That is the Executive Branch’s realm. I would much rather have a Democratic Senate and House and a Republican White House for that reason. Anyway, President Bush has a veto pen. Let’s hope he uses it.

There might be a lot of good coming out of this election for 2008, especially if the terrorists keep making comments like they are making about Democrats.

I just fear that Bush, being Bush, will not use the Bully Pulpit and will keep striking a conciliatory and appeasement tone with the Democrats. Right now it is a great opportunity for him to state why we need to stay in Iraq and point out to America that the terrorists are happy that the Dems won, but, thankfully, the Dems are not in charge of foreign policy; he is.

These mullahs have militarized and radicalized. They’ve had 30 years to arm up, train, fight Iraq for 8 years and to train, arm and fund their proxy arm of Hezbollah, who most definitely have killed significant numbers of Americans already.
OBL sounded like a nut and a braggart, too, when he declared war on America in 1998 when Prince Clintoon was President…”He doesn’t mean it, does he?”

Do you damn Dems ever think about anything in other than partisan terms?!“The Iranian hostage crisis was what sealed Carter’s fate?”
How about America’s fate?!? (*^##(@!$*P
If Jimmy had put the smack down on the jihadis when he needed to, we wouldn’t be here today! There’d be no war on terror!
Afghanistan wouldn’t have been invaded by the Russians!
Saddam wouldn’t have armed up and gone to war with Iran!
And they armed 2 friends and so on and so on.
(I feel like doing a Howard Dean scream here…!!!_)
The jihadi whackjob that is head of Iran was one of the jailers of our embassy people in ‘79…YARGGGGHHHH~

Uhh. Is this a trick question?

honora on November 10, 2006 at 2:07 PM

Hmmm, that’s odd, I just saw a headline qouting an al-qaeda guy in Iraq saying that they’re winning there faster than they expected. Wow, how about that? I seem to recall zarqawi saying that they were LOSING in Iraq, but NOW all of a sudden they’re WINNING??? Should we question the timing?

Hey Viper, you are correct sir, that feeling in your stomach was right, our world is about to change. Let’s pray that the American people wake up BEFORE we have another 9/11 (or worse). We have 2 years to get our act together, if the dhimmis win in ‘08, we really ARE f#cked!

Any libs out there wanna tell us how your dhimmi party plans to prevent my beautiful wife and soon to be born daughter from being forced into a burqa? Anyone? Anyone? Sure got quiet all of a sudden.

Tony737 on November 10, 2006 at 2:10 PM

Are you g*ddamn Democrats gonna “But Carter…,” “but Clinton…” until these jihadi BASTARDS have killed us all?!?
Lead, follow or get out of the way, but for God’s sake, STFU about the politics!
None of these IslamoNazi killers are going to ask you who you voted for before they saw your head off!

Jen the Neocon on November 10, 2006 at 2:10 PM

Well if you remember, you should remember that the Ayatollah had a deep hatred for Carter and released the hostages the minute he left office as a final insult/injury.

Well, I seriously doubt the Ayatollah had any great love or admiration for a filthy infidel like Ronald Reagan.

Oh come on, I’m pretty quick. You’re suggesting that our enemies are successful manipulating anyone who voted Democratic, but not you wily Republicans. Clever boy.

honora on November 10, 2006 at 2:05 PM

Actually, I’m more suggesting that they manipulated our media … but we know which party our media favors.

You know what’s funny? (In a oh shit kind of way?) You could make the argument that the real impetus for the hostages’ release was the invasion by Iraq.

Germany is threatening to indict Rumsfeld along with several other high ranking US officals for abuses at Gitmo and Abu Gharib. The plantiffs are several jihadists and one BG Janis Karpinski of Abu Gharib infamy.
Happy Veterans Day and so it begins.

Apparently I gave AllahPundit too much credit. Turns out, he’s a complete moron.

The idea that I should honestly give the slightest rat’s ass what the Iranians think about the outcome of this election is pretty amusing. It’s like saying, “REPUBLICANS ARE ALL TRAITORS” because the Nazis were undoubtedly hoping for FDR to be ousted during WWII.

Honestly, grow up. You lost, get the hell over it. I’m pretty sure the Ku Klux Klan and skinheads all around this country are rejoicing at the conservative defeat of affirmative action in Michigan. Does that make you racists?

No. But this thread shows you’re fairly stupid.

Grebrook on November 10, 2006 at 2:26 PM

Why is this loser even garnering any press. Are the “sixties children” so nostalgic for the old days that they give credence to HIS opinions. I guess for George McG, ‘history began yesterday.’ ‘There was no terrorism before Afghanistan and Iraq.’ ‘It is all America’s fault.’ Did I miss anything?

Send to a Friend | printer-friendly As InstaGlenn might say: well, yeah.
Iran’s most powerful leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Friday called U.S. President George W. Bush’s defeat in the congressional elections an “obvious victory” for the Iranian nation.

Of course, when you’re them, you would think that any American President could get defeated during a Congressional election.

Definitely nine cans short of a six pack!

“This issue (the elections) is not a purely domestic issue for America, but it is the defeat of Bush’s hawkish policies in the world,” Khamenei said in remarks reported by Iran’s student news agency ISNA on Friday.

Yawn” – Whatever. Of course, the students have to listen – there’ll be a test later in the semester. God help them if they flub the question (s) concerning that statement!

“Since Washington’s hostile and hawkish policies have always been against the Iranian nation, this defeat is actually an obvious victory for the Iranian nation.”

Of course, when your army is barely in front of Kazhakstan in motivation, you take what you can get in the way of “victories

Keep in mind that their leader claims to be “touched” – and NOT by an angel!

You really want to defeat them – hit them where it hurts -

give them fast food, MTV, PSII’s (or III’s), all the hip clothing they can sag, a couple of movie stars, a little drama, the best (or worst) of our music and culture.

In short, give them capitalism in tidal waves.

Before long, their kids will be couch potatoes who are hooked to their video games, TV shows, and twinkies;

Their adults will be hooked on reality shows, beer, smokes, and Mickey D’s

The women will toss the burka – along with a few other things.

And the best of all – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will get a guest shot on – Jerry Springer!

Honora- The terrorists hate all Americans and non-Muslims. They have respect for some (conservatives) and contempt for others (liberals), but they hate them equally. Dems, having a false understanding of human nature, will never comprehend this truth. They think somehow they can make Muslim extremists like them.

Many of the Dems who won were fairly conservative, or at least they ran on conservative platforms. But the first thought that terrorists have of Democrats is that they are weaklings and have weak moral characters. The Iranians hated Carter as much as Reagan; they returned the Americans on the first day of Reagan’s presidency because they hated but feared and respected him. The Iranians hated Carter but had contempt and not respect for him.

Why else are they gloating right now that Dems are in power?

The dumbocrats want desperately to pretend our enemies do not love them. The Traitor Party members will lie about phony baloney theories of foreign “manipulation”, but no matter how much they try, their place alongside the terrorists will be laid bare for all the world to see.

Honora, I appreciate your attempt at humor, but I hafta ask, what will YOU do to avoid joining the burqa brigades? You didn’t give me a viable answer. Do you or do you not think we should fight terrorism? Is it a police matter or a military matter? If not by fighting them over there as you oppose, then how do we defend ourselves from religious wackos who wanna kill us and destroy our liberal way of life? (That’s CLASSIC liberalism, not your modern day socialist liberalism). And please don’t try to be funny and say that you ARE fighting religious wackos like Pat Robertson by voting Dem. (You guys are so predictable)

Also, the leader of A.Q. in Iraq just stated that he was pleased with our election results. Don’t tell me that doesn’t make you think. Our enemies WANT the dhimmis to win, that gets them one step closer to enslaving us, ALL of us. (Hence the term “dhimmicrat”).

Tony737 on November 10, 2006 at 3:09 PM

I’m upset because I think we have sent a terrible message to our enemies

Ann Althouse

…but…anti-Americanism greatly diminished or almost vanished over night…

honora, the Iranians released the hostages, when they did, in part because they didn’t like Mr. Carter, but in greater part because they feared Mr. Reagan.

Grebrook, you are indeed a genius; I’m pretty sure you’re way above 140. The rest of us can only aspire…

Entelechy on November 10, 2006 at 3:14 PM

The idea that I should honestly give the slightest rat’s ass what the Iranians think about the outcome of this election is pretty amusing.

Don’t play stupid, Grebrook; that’s not the point and you know it. That the enemies of America are happy with the Democrats in an enhanced political position is an important point, and goes to the heart of the argument of left v. right.

In WW II, the Axis couldn’t have much cared who was in the White House, as both parties were equally serious about defending the country. (Save your BS about isolationist positions among Republicans prior to Pearl Harbor, and Roosevelt’s lobbying to get involved in Europe before then; moot after 12-7-1942).

Clearly, this is no longer the case, and has been the case for some decades. One need only look at the discussion among the Democrats in the months leading up to the election to know that this is true. Sure, lots of Democrats voted to support action against Iraq, but only under the political threat of treason, and they have been bashing each other with this vote every day since.

The only members of congress who have opposed military action of any kind against our enemies since? Democrats.

So, yes, the glee from our enemies that has accompanied the Dem victories on Tuesday is important to note, until Democrats prove to be as interested in defending the U.S. as Republicans.
