I am using my head, thats why I know that W never never never linked Saddam to 9/11….he did link Saddam to terrorist activities in the sense that he paid money to the family for a terrorist to strap on a bomb and blow babies up!

So it is proven that you don’t even know the truth, you must have gotten your point about Saddams link to 9/11 from the MSM!

I don’t want a poll, I want a video…a poll proves nothing…so go ahead and spread you lies but remember they will come back to haunt you.

In the 2004 election, polls showed that about 60% of Americans thought Saddam had something to do with 9/11. (Find the poll info yourself, it was well publicized.)Where do you think they got that idea? From the evil MSM? From traitorous Dems? Use your head.

That’s their way of saying they’re dirt people, too fucking stupid to deal with that totally foreign Democracy concept.

Which isn’t at all racist. Because it’s a Democrat notion.

Honestly, where do you get this stuff? Tribal does not mean "dirt people", by which I presume you mean savages. It means that Iraqis--Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds--have more allegiance to their ethnic and hereditary commonality than to any sense of nation. Who doesn't know this?

Short of open anarchy our only hope is to keep making as much sense to as many of them as we can. Libs are a sensitive and emotional bunch. They really are. That’s a monster of a broad brush, but I think there’s truth in it.

It's worth noting that the exit polling showed that of the folks voting, 20% self identified as liberals, 47% as moderates, 32% as conservatives. The moderates went Democratic 60%. The point being, clinging to the notion that liberals bounced the Republicans is wrong-headed. (And seriously, read some of the messages on this thread. Now who is it that is emotional?)

No I’m not, actually. I realize that this is a new kind of warfare. I also realize that Iraq was the perfect training ground for it. And contrary to what you might be hearing from our green zone hotel newscorp, our troops have adapted and are VERY adept at fighting this war. The real challenge to me is getting the American People to take our military off their leash and let them fight like they need to. A lot of them are dying because we’ve established very foolish and counterproductive rules of engagement. That needs to change.

It’s hard. It’s going to be hard for a very long time. The sooner we realize what it takes to win, and do it, the sooner we can get all this unpleasantness over with.

The answer is strength. Our troops have proven they can be both strong AND compassionate. They’re not wanton killers. They’re the very finest people this Nation has. And with this election, their jobs are now an order of magnitude harder.

techno_barbarian on November 9, 2006 at 5:26 PM

I don't think you have addressed my question: if the Shiite and the Sunni are intent on killing each other, and we are in the cross-fire, against whom exactly do we unleash more military power? Malaki, who is our guy, at least for now, has pretty much shown where his allegiance lies, so do we back him and help him put down the Sunnis, thereby handing that freak Sadr a great big victory?

I understand your point about more power, but the question remains--against whom? (This would be the "aim" part of "ready, aim, fire" ) It just seems to me that history tells us it's whole lot easier to crush opponents militarily than it is to change minds.

There are a lot of IMO nuts on the RW who basically say "just bomb the hell of all of them"; well, ok, but that rather obviates our claim of having released the Iraqis from terror.

It will be interesting to see what James(why won't you people let me retire) Baker has to say about this. Did you know there is not one military person on that commisssion? Odd.

The only plan they have is to get us out of Iraq while Bush is still in office, that way it looks like we lost a war with a Pubbie president so as to better their chance of winning the White House in '08. That's all this is about and they know it. But, they fail to understand that Bush is still CinC and he's not gonna withdrawl out troops from Iraq just because Congress wants him to.

Besides, now that they're runnin' things in Congress, you watch, all of a sudden they're gonna come to the conclusion that we CAN'T just leave Iraq to the terrorists.

Next, they're gonna come up with a 'plan'. It'll be: Train Iraq's new police and army to take over security duties from us. Hhhmmmmmmm ... that sounds exactly like what we ARE doing! See, this is why they use a JACKASS as their party symbol! Jackass Nancyboys.

BTW Techno, I read this whole screen and you my friend get the gold medal for best liberal smack down.

That ship has sailed my friend. But I digress.

I know perfectly well what we're dealing with. But there is no chance in hell people like armitage will be brought to justice for causing the whole stupid distration known as the plame game. Short of open anarchy our only hope is to keep making as much sense to as many of them as we can. Libs are a sensitive and emotional bunch. They really are. That's a monster of a broad brush, but I think there's truth in it.

Dems want to do good (the ones that aren't open traitorous enemy-within fools). They want to think they're helping. That's the attraction. But they don't think things through and more often than not absolutely refuse to go out and do some actual fact-checking.

No, my friend. I haven't forgotten at all.You speak the plain truth, and very well. I completely agree with you. You've got it exactly right.

However, my thinking is that, while I would personally like to verbally pound the shit out of the majority of my fellow Americans right now, to do so would be unproductive.

They're never going to reach out to us. Not honestly. Not until they actually take a good hard look at the problem and conclude that what we're doing right now in the War On Terror actually is the most viable strategy. And the one with the best chance for success.

Unlike aq, hamas, dinnerjacket, and lil kim, I think that eventually the sane dems might actually be capable of coming to the table, leaving their knives in their sheaths, and honor their words and honestly work with the other side. Rather than just prancing around like gloating adolescents, as they're currently doing.

The big cruel world is going to have to be the one that does the teaching. They're not interested in listening to us right now.

Time is of the essence. Wiser that we get past our own egos and start trying to teach them with facts and examples rather than hyperbole and vitriol. Not aiming that at you, specifically because you do that well, but at all of us who consider ourselves sane and informed.

As I said. Much respect. We've got a lot of work to do.

Believe me, this is not "tit for tat."

The Democrats openly went to war with the rest of America starting in 2000 when Gore started the recount nonsense resulting in the US Supreme court intervening. From that day on, the Democratic Party has been calling Bush illegitimate and that everything he did after that the same. They refused to "get over it" and work with the Republicans.

Have you forgotten this?

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. [Marcus Tullius Cicero]

The Democrats' plan of treason was busted open in 2003, when Rockerfeller's letter was leaked to the media.

They worked to sabotage the war on terrorism. They did it for partisan gain. It's not 'tit for tat' to hold them accountable for it. It's not 'tit for tat' to work to correct the situation and punish the saboteurs.

And let's not forget the manufactured scandals "Plamegate," "Foleygate," and "Jeff Gannon" and all the rest. Let's not forget Joe Wilson's lies which resulted in years of leftist smears of Bush, Rove and Cheney.

Let not forget the complicity of the leftwing media who decided that the real enemy was the President of the United States of America and not the terrorists we were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The "civil" war started in 1995 when the Republicans took over Congress -- something that the Democrats believe they own by 'divine right.'

In 2003, the war became NO SO CIVIL as the Rockerfeller memo proves.

Well, now they won. And innocent Americans will pay the price of their treason because Cicero was right.

Nope. You Democratics wanted to regain the power you had lost in 1994 and you were willing to (and did) commit treason to get it. Now you have the power. Enjoy it while you can.

But as I said, YOU NOW OWN the Global War on Terrorism.

Lock. Stock. And Barrel.

The mistakes YOU make YOU will own. And as your side is STUPID and INCOMPETENT beyond belief (Pelosi proved that yesterday when she was "holding court" with the media), the terrorists WILL come home -- OUR home -- and then your party will fall. I certainly do not want Americans to die, but your party's victory makes that inevitable.

Why do I say this?

Yesterday the Iranians and Syrians celebrated with you. Our enemies are dancing in joy with you because YOU won. No doubt, a message from bin Laden will be broadcast via Al Jazeera congratulating you -- and gloating that they were right all along.

Your victory made us all less safe, but you're all too damn stupid to "get it." And when they strike us again, it will be YOUR shame, not ours, because my side wants to win the war on terror -- on their soil, not ours. Your side doesn't want to win it at all.

Well, you Copperheads wanted the power. Some of your leaders actually committed treason to get it.

You now got it.

And because you got it, many more Americans -- civilians here at home -- are going to die because of it. Because you're incompetent.

All I'm doing is stating the facts and bracing for the future.

Honora, in one of her rants, refered to the tribal nature of Iraq. Yes, Iraq still is a tribal society. And tribal societies have, at their base, what we would call a “medieval mindset.” This mindset knows when to knuckle under to overwhelming force.

That's their way of saying they're dirt people, too fucking stupid to deal with that totally foreign Democracy concept.

Which isn't at all racist. Because it's a Democrat notion.

honora,

Ok but how ’bout next time we get the reasons for going to war, before we go to war.

You could still go read the Joint Authorization for the Use of Military force in Iraq, but that would still screw your little game up, wouldn’t it?

You've got a bunch left to get out, don't you?

Tecnho writes: "Actually, it’s more than worth it to stay and fight. And to take the gloves off and fight like we actually intend to win. That is the best, most sane action to take."

You have it.

We have overwhelming military power. We have enough power to destroy the world -- and certainly turn the middle east into radioactive green glass. Yes, we could make the Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq play nice.

This is not the only time Iraq has been the center of such turmoil. It happened to the British right after WWI. The British put down that revolt by wiping out Shiite villages and using overwhelming force. BTW, they even asked for authorization to use leftover WWI mustard gas, but never did use them.

But the Brits succeeded, mostly, by 1925.

Honora, in one of her rants, refered to the tribal nature of Iraq. Yes, Iraq still is a tribal society. And tribal societies have, at their base, what we would call a "medieval mindset." This mindset knows when to knuckle under to overwhelming force.

Our invasion and subsiquent occupation was designed and operated to run with "kid gloves." We COULD have destroyed their dams, poisoned their rivers, blown EVERY bridge in Iraq, flattened Baghdad and every other city, and killed MILLIONS of Iraqis -- even without the use of nuclear weapons.

But we did not.

We did not want our victory to become the basis for a nationwide rebellion. And we have been successful. There are less than 20K "insurgents" in Iraq, including the Sunni and Shiite militias and the remnants of Al Qaeda, out of a population of 26 million.

Yes, in esoteric terms, the Iraqi people want us to go home. Who wouldn't? But the average Iraqi does not hate America. They admire us. Most of them DID ACTUALLY cheer our troops. Most of them work with us on a daily basis to hunt down the terrorists.

That is the REASON that so many Iraqis join the police and new Iraq Army, knowning damn well how many of them will get blown up in the process.

The Iraqis are brave. They are not stupid.

WE did not destroy their country. WE rescued them from a barbarous dictator -- and they know it.

What is happening now is factions jockeying for control of the country. The Sunnis want it back. The Shiites and the Kurds have no intention of letting them have it.

Techno, we WON the war. Hands down. What we are trying to do is stabalize the country and it may take knocking in the skulls of the "tribals" to achieve that point.

Rumsfeld and Bush did not want to take that approach. That might have been a mistake, though I think that had not the traitors on the left (including the Democratic Party) not given them hope that they could wait us out, Iraq would have been quiet by now.

Yes. The current strife in Iraq is caused by the DEMOCRATS proving the bin Laden was right -- America will cut and run if you hold on long enough.

But as you correctly noted, the sane action now is to put enough power into Iraq to put down the rebellion and suppress the militias.

With Pelosi at the helm, it won't happen as she actually said that if we go home, the terrorists will go home in Iraq. That's how disconnected from reality the left's mindset is.

So, once again, the DEMOCRATS will have lost a war -- the Global War on Terrorism -- for America.

honora,

Maliki won't ask us to leave. He'd be one of the very first ones butchered if we were to leave. And sadr has needed a bullet between his eyes for a very long time. THAT, I will readily admit, was a huge mistake in this war.

Mistakes happen. But the war must be won.
