I think responsibility moderates people.

It’s easy to propose radical ideas when you have no ability to carry them out, but when you do and the hopes, dreams, and lives of a free people depend on you, I believe you think about things with a renewed vigor.

I don’t think she is moderate… but I hope and believe that she will give matters more weight than she would have without her new responsibilities.

Again, look at what happened – he told our troops to back off when we had al-Sadr defeated, then made militias (such as al-Sadr’s) legal, allowed citizens to have one AK-47 per household (with 200 rounds of ammo), and then stood by while al-Sadr controls part of the government to the extent that the Iraqi government tells our troops to quit picking on al-Sadr and get out of his part of Baghdad.
