cable car turnaround...

In this way you will benefit from the latest technology at a reasonable price, as cable TV companies usually have different price offers for different customer budgets....

Rudy has huge accomplishments, turned NYC from a stinkhole to the safest big city in America, and made NYU into the most popular school in the country to apply to! Plus he's working on the WOT with his consulting firm, turned the NYPD into a foreign intelligence/espionage (and possibly paramilitary) force, told the Saudis where to stick their money after 9/11, and has all the best enemies.

He can fix his 2nd amendment problem (there's no NRA constituency in NYC and he was a big time Mob prosecutor... you don't see too many good uses of guns in NYC, especially when he was a prosecutor and mayor, cleaning up the Mob and the crack epidemic), he's a serious Roman Catholic (one reason why the Left hates him), and won't push the government to social change.

There's only one thing that truly matters, and that is saving our civilisation. McCain would play kumbaya to Osama and experienced too much trauma to be able to deal with the biggest pressure of command: knowing that you are condemning great men to die and suffer to preserve the nation. Rudy will go down to Gitmo with his own car battery, jumper cables, pliers, and blow torch for some quality time with his close, personal friends.

Rudy in 08, with Condi as veep if she can come back to her Red Meat Eating, War Mongering, Gun Loving past. She's done if she has been converted by the Foggy Bottomers. Nothing matter but the war. NOTHING MATTERS BUT THE WAR! The brits have 1200 under surveillance and view it as a challenge of GENERATIONS. Now is not the time for a nanny diet monger, legislators with baggage and no accomplishments, or those who cave to the Left on entitlements (we already have one of those in W).

austinnelly,
McCain is another big amnesty guy and he gets half a point for being smart enough not to highlight that fact and rub our face in it..instead he’s leaning hard right..and apparently you’re going for it. Big mistake.
I think you misunderstood me. In no way, shape or form do I want McCain running for or getting elected POTUS.

As a New Yorker, I saw firsthand how Rudy turned around the city. It was a disgusting, crime-infested mess after many years of liberal rule. He took no prisoners and forced through his way to fix things and he did. He had more to do with New York City's turnaround to become the safest big city in America.

Before 9/11, you won't believe how much he was HATED by liberals for installing law & order. Another benefit!

Finally, do you think he would be presiding over a politcally correct, one-hand-tied-behind-our backs kind of war we are currently fighting?

urbancenturion,

You're right that I not only want a great communicator, but a great conservative communicator--a la Reagan. It's been too long.

I did not mean to imply that being a good communicator alone is enough. For example, Clinton was/is a strong communicator, but he did great damage to the country, particularly in terms of his dealings with Islamofascists. I just think being a great communicator needs to be our next candidate's strongest quality, along with being a great conservative thinker and leader and a hawk on the War on Terror.

Aero, I'm from Texas and I like John Cornyn too, but there must be something wrong with him. He says so little, that I wonder if he is not keeping his head down so as to not draw fire. His politics are great, but hae has almost no profile.

I agree with what has been said about needing a leader who is a good communicator, but we need a leader who is a good communicator who is also a conservative--and has some vision for the country. That's what was so great about Reagan. He was truly the right man at the right moment.

But it has become too easy for the left to render bloodied and bruised anyone who appears to be a great prospect for a right leaning leader, a la George Allen. He's done and itmostly was just the result of so much mud-slinging that it would have been almost impossible to NOT fall into some sort of trap.

I take it back--Newt can speak as inspiringly as Rudy. I just watched the Newt "Contract with America" video, and I had forgotten what Newt is like when he's in front of a crowd talking about his passion for American ideals. I've only seen him doing the pundit thing on TV the last few years.

I reiterate: We MUST have another great communicator as our next president!!! We have to have a PR warrior who can fight the propaganda war just as well as our military is conducting the shooting war.

Lowandslow...we already have a trifecta; the whitehouse is for all intents and purposes..lost. Bush shoved a final dagger and middle finger to the base after our defeat by going out and braying about his coming amnesty. McCain is another big amnesty guy and he gets half a point for being smart enough not to highlight that fact and rub our face in it..instead he's leaning hard right..and apparently you're going for it. Big mistake. I maintain that McCain, leading that feckless pack of RINOS in the Senate is responsible for the majority of the outrages that so alienated the base. Combine that with the apparently accurate statistic from Southpark that 25% of the American people are retards, and you have complete defeat for the United States over the next 8 years or so. Despite all the stupidity and wasted time of the last 4 years by the GOP, the Democrats did not deserve to win. They ran on nothing. We elected a bunch of morons who hate the opposition party more than Islamic terrorists. Way to go America. Me, I've got bet with myself that President Hillary Clinton will be meeting with the head of the Islamic Caliphate in the next 8 years; they'll want her to wear a burqa and she'll do it..and the press will hail it as the greatest diplomatic masterstroke since Kissinger went to China. Look forward to it guys..it's the only thing we'll have left..that and watching Rinos like McCain and Goober from SC get picked off and replaced with Democrats. We're doomed.

I strongly believe that our next candidate MUST be a strong communicator above all else. I think we're winning in Iraq and in the WoT in general, but we're losing the PR/propaganda war because Bush et al can't seem to get their message past a hostile media. I'm so tired of knowing that we're doing the right thing and then listening to my president stutter and hesitate his way through a feeble-sounding justification of it. He's just a poor speaker, and that's all there is to it.

I think the best communicator on this straw poll is easily Rudy. Remember his rousing speech at the last Republican Convention? Wow! I think he could even get Cindy Sheehan waving a flag if we locked him up in a room with her for a few hours. Well, maybe not, but you get my point. I think he can really inspire people when he speaks.

I like Newt because he is genuinely conservative and he's proven he can motivate people to support a conservative agenda. He's a strong communicator, but not as inspirational a speaker as Rudy can be.

I also like John Cornyn, senator from Texas, but I've never heard a whisper about him running for prez. He's a genuine conservative, too, and is able to communicate conservatism eloquently when given the opportunity.

//Genetics. Incest sometimes results in some very debilitating offspring. Not a pretty thought, but reality nonetheless.

True, but not always. And besides, are you saying people should also abort their child if they learn it will be retarded? Are retarded people not valuable?

To me, if we're going to oppose abortion on the grounds that it "stops a beating heart", then how can we decide that "stopping a beating heart" is only a big deal if the father of that "beating heart" is not the mother's sister or is not a rapist???

Last I checked, we don't judge who does and who does not deserve to live based on who their parents are and what their parents did.

Now if you want to go with a different reason to oppose abortion, then fine.

Puritan sure makes Santa Claus sound promising, though once people learn that his Elven labor are all illegal aliens who are addicted to (and paid in) high fructose corn syrup, it’ll be the end of him.

...in today's predatory political climate, you're probably right...and I'm fresh out of options. I was keeping the Easter Bunny as a fall-back guy, but there's probably a constitutional provision specifying species to qualify for office....

Why not - win with “The Big Red One” in ‘08.

...nooooooooooooooow...there's a slogan that'll go over well in Pelosi's home district!

If track record and name recognition are key *before* the campaign begins, I nominate Santa Claus - Puritan1648 on November 10, 2006 at 12:20 AM

Why not - win with "The Big Red One" in '08. Who knows, as silly as politics go, this might not be too bad -

After all, who in their right mind would do an attack ad on him?

Is there any conceivable way of telling how many voted for Allahpundit in the recent elections?

Puritan sure makes Santa Claus sound promising, though once people learn that his Elven labor are all illegal aliens who are addicted to (and paid in) high fructose corn syrup, it'll be the end of him.

Honestly, I am greatly impressed by anyone who has an informed opinion on this poll. Sadly, I have no idea where half of the candidates stand on the various issues, and I'm far too lazy to research it this early in the game.

Is there some industrious blogger who has a table comparing the candidates?
