“The beauty and genius of our democracy.”

… and 24 hours ago, she was complaining about rigged voting machines, etc.

thirteen28 on November 8, 2006 at 1:41 PM

Will the MSM have the “cahones” to ask if the Dems were the ones that rigged the machines? She was very sure that the election was rigged, what happenned?

I predict, the press will be afraid of her.

Nightmare scenario redux

The Democrats force Bush to accept complete responsibility for Iraq.
The Democrats force Bush to withdraw all US forces from Iraq.
The US news media completely ignores events taking place in the middle east,
and focuses entirely on the US economy.

Iran, either overtly, with an open invasion of military forces, or covertly by supporting Shia militias, overruns, and takes complete control of Iraq.
The Iraqi Baathists and Sunnis flee to Syria.
Iran continues to fuel the feud between the Palestinians, and the Israelis.
The Democrats abandon Israel just as they do Iraq.

The price of oil goes above $100 a barrel.
Inflation in the US goes into double digits.
The Federal Reserve raises interest rates to restrain inflation.
The Democrats raise the minimum wage and raise taxes.
Unemployment in the US climbs into double digits.
The US economy collapses.
The Taliban return to power in Afghanistan, and seize power in Pakistan, when the government of Musharraf collapses.
Thailand is divided, and Islam takes control of Bangladesh, and Indonesia.

US credibility and prestige falls to zero, world wide. The forces of Islam are completely unrestrained.

US Liberal/Socialists prove, yet again, that central government control of a national economy results in economic disaster.
The Democrats, and their sympathizers in liberal academe blame Bush, and conservative Republicans.

If you want to make the case that it won’t be that bad.

Iran’s influence in the middle east is increased, but not a complete take over of the region.
Musharraf’s government in Pakistan doesn’t collapse completely. Instead it’s influence is reduced to the region immediately surrounding the capital city, Islamabad, while the Taliban controls the rest of the country, and Afghanistan.

The price of oil doesn’t quite reach $100 a barrel, and President Hillary recommends that we all turn down our thermostats, and wear a sweater in the winter while using less air conditioning in the summer, and we should all use public transportation where available, and drive our own vehicles less. No one in the Democrat party can remember that we have been down that road before.

The Democrats again attempt to buy off Hamas, and Hezbollah, but this time the militants take the money, and they take Israel. The US news media ignores events in Palestine, and remains focused on the US economy. Jewish Democrats in the US blame the Israeli government.

Did you know she has THE WORST voting record on immigration of ALL the House members? Check out her immigration score card.

Welcome to San Francisco Values and Open Borders, suckers. Better get your guns before she tries to outlaw them.

NTWR on November 8, 2006 at 1:48 PM

Well, we’ll see if she keeps her word.

Time will tell.

By the way. Some troll commenters have said that they will use control of congress to prevent us from electing a republican in 2008.

Nonsense.

We elected Reagan and Bush I while the democrats had control of congress. If we have our act together, I see no reason why we couldn’t do the same in 2008.

We can take pride in our sucesses.
And we have to take responsibility for our failures.

EFG on November 8, 2006 at 1:49 PM

All she/they are going to do is ruin Dems chances in 08. They’re democrats, they can’t help themselves.

RC2 on November 8, 2006 at 1:52 PM

The Dems had plenty of ruined chances all across the Twnetieth Century, and they kept hold on Congress for forty years. What makes this time any different?

mikeomatic on November 8, 2006 at 1:54 PM

By the way. Some troll commenters have said that they will use control of congress to prevent us from electing a republican in 2008.

Nonsense.

I respectfully disagree. Her control of congress will likely lead to massive amnesty for illegal aliens and unfettered immigration for millions more immigrants yearly. Those immigrants will quickly and effectively change the entire social fabric of the country and most, having come from third-world socialist countries, will vote Democrat. That will effectively rule out a Republican leader in ’08.

Check out her voting record (linked above) if you want to see her idea of immigration reform.

NTWR on November 8, 2006 at 1:58 PM

Well, they very well might hold congress for another 40 years (shudder).

But we certainly can get a republican into the whitehourse in 08 if we get our act together.

How can that horrible woman even speak about returning civility to Washington after all of her poisonus rhetoric over the past few years?

jman on November 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM

The best indication there was little fraud in this election is you didn’t see any races wildly varying from the polls or projections, a la Florida 2000 or Ohio 2004.

Hopefully the Democrats will resist the urge to get payback on their Republican colleagues for all the dirty tricks they’ve been playing for the last 6 years and focus on moving forward.

Enoxo on November 8, 2006 at 2:11 PM

“I was working for [New Mexico Republican] Pete Domenici at the time. We were in a Budget Committee hearing and the Democrats were debating what the final result would be. And my boss gets up and he says, ‘Why are you saying this? You’re not even going to be in the room when the decisions are made.’ Just said it right out in the open.”

Sensenbrenner kept trying to gavel the hearing to a close, but Democrats again pointed to the rules, which said they had a certain amount of time to examine their witnesses. When they refused to stop the proceedings, the chairman did something unprecedented: He simply picked up his gavel and walked out.

GOP chairmen routinely call a meeting, bring the press in for a photo op and then promptly shut the proceedings down. “Take a picture, wait five minutes, gavel it out — all for show” is how one Democratic staffer described the process. Then, amazingly, the Republicans sneak off to hold the real conference, forcing the Democrats to turn amateur detective and go searching the Capitol grounds for the meeting.

That’s a typical Dem tactic–make stuff up, force us to waste time proving it wrong, and then don’t accept whatever proof we offer up. You’ve been doing that for years re Iraq and it’s dishonest, disingenuous and tiresome. Not going to play that game anymore. You people have the majority now. Grow up and govern responsibly or you’re out on your tails in a couple years.

Bryan on November 8, 2006 at 2:18 PM

We’re definitely living in interesting times, but I don’t doubt that Democrats are going to find that defending our country is a lot harder and more dangerous than it looked when they were the party out of power and didn’t need to have a plan. Now they not only must ‘have’ a plan, but it must be a good one. Liberals are now in charge of raising weapons in defense of the country. If they cut funding for our troops or order them to leave the field of war, as they have so often suggested that they will, God help the World.

Could it be that there were no stolen elections? Nooo. Diebold is evil! Down with the machines we demanded for after 2000′s paper debacle!

Akkad was Sumer’s northern extension, and it fully developed shortly before the fall of Sumer. The Akkadian culture and language evolved from Sumer, and the ilu of the Akkadians, the Babylonians, and the Assyrians came from Sumer as well. The Sumerians, however, were more specifically descriptive when referring to them. They called them Anunnaki, which in Sumerian means “Those Who from Heaven to Earth Came”. This gives us a clear answer as to who these “tall guys” were:

they were not some fluke of nature caused by human genetic mutations or powerful growth hormones, but visitors from outer space.

As if to convince us that they knew what they were talking about, the ancient Sumerians have left for us countless depictions of aircraft, rockets, and other vehicles for flying both through the atmosphere and through space. The depictions are accompanied by detailed technical descriptions of their operation, as well as correct detailed astronomical information about the solar system, all nine planets known to us today (the farthest of which are totally invisible without powerful telescopes), asteroids and comets, and the distant stars, including many that are not visible from Sumer.

The astronomical knowledge passed to us by the Sumerians includes the description of the tenth planet of the solar system, which was the home planet of the Anunnaki. Given the accuracy of the Sumerian knowledge about the nine planets, asteroids, comets, and distant stars we know today, there is little reason to believe that they were mistaken about the tenth planet of the solar system.

Can’t wait to see the 100 hour plan, the plan for Iraq, the plan for how to maintain the fantastic economy, the plan for social security, the plan for energy independence, the plan to reduce the deficit, and the plan on how far they’ll raise our taxes to pay for all of it. They are in charge now, so get to governing and let’s see the plans.

I got up very early this morning, saw that the House had been lost, and watched “Islam – What the West Needs to Know.” Bad idea. I should have waited for the election gloom to subside a little. Right now I feel a sense of complete doom. “Obsession” is a picnic compared to this film. It’s less video and more frank discussion by Spencer, Shoebat, etc. Hopefully, after a good night’s sleep, I’ll perk up and head to Bass Pro Shops for more ammo.

RedWinged Blackbird on November 8, 2006 at 2:32 PM

All she/they are going to do is ruin Dems chances in 08. They’re democrats, they can’t help themselves.

That is optimism, and I hope you’re right.

Let’s see…if I recall 1/3 of the senate is eleted every two years. So… if they do manage to show their true colors in that time power can be taken away from them as a party.

However, I have one question. If the Repubs gain control in 2008, will they understand why they lost so much this election cycle? It’s not just the media bias on Iraq. It’s not just the Demo’s ranting and raving about Bushitler. It’s their out of control spending and apathy towards our borders.

So… if you’re one of those peeps who just lost their seat or wish to run in 2008/10, take heed: we need you to stick to the core values of the Republican Party. If you don’t. You’re just a RINO and you ruin any chance for conservatism to show why it is best for this country.

Who’s whining? Dems delivered the biggest ass-kicking since the U.S. invaded Granada. The man asked for examples, and I provided them.

But you’re right, if we don’t get anything done now, we deserve to be kicked out. It’s too bad part of the agenda has to be undoing the damage of the last 6 years.

Constantine on November 8, 2006 at 2:33 PM

The Republicans did not lose because of scandals. For me it was always about securing our borders and fighting off the islamofascist threat in every corner of the globe.

IrishEi on November 8, 2006 at 2:36 PM

Constantine do you think that even with a majority in the Senate that the Dems can put together 67 votes to impeach?
NOT…..all it would do is ruin the dems in the eyes of the public….the dems won because the inds/fencers want the government to move forward. That is what the Dems promised them.

Limerick on November 8, 2006 at 2:37 PM

IrishEi on November 8, 2006 at 2:43 PM

You people have the majority now. Grow up and govern responsibly or you’re out on your tails in a couple years.

I can almost guarantee they will be out in the next election. All it will take is their smug, elitist rhetoric and for them to show their disdain for the more moderate members of their party and constituency to alienate the voters that swung in their favor. Their ill thought out social agendas will galvanize the opposition and they will be out on their butts with “will show hysterics for food” signs. It’s in their genetic make up.

Trooper on November 8, 2006 at 2:43 PM

-The unemployment rate is under 5%. Fantastic!
-The stock market is trading at record highs. Unbelievable!
-Consumer confidence is high. My nipples are hard!
-Working conditions are the best ever. I think I’m squirting milk! Yeah!

All of these great things because of our new Democratic Overlords!

Thanks Democrats! Before you were in power, it just sucked royally around here! You guys kick ass! And you do it fast!

*sarcasm off*

natesnake on November 8, 2006 at 2:47 PM

Ahem, er, WOman.
And I asked for examples of why you were whining about “dirty tricks” of the Republicans.

So now, what do you consider “the damage of the last 6 years”? Would that be…
-the lowest unemployment rate in 10 years?
-the greater take-home pay for nearly all Americans?
-the doubling of education funding?
-the lack of a terrorist attack on our soil since 9/11?

Or do you mean the damage to our popularity in the global high-school-clique scene? I could understand that one, that’s rough. No one likes to be the outcast.

Hopefully you can answer without inserting another whiny disclaimer comment about why you won’t be able to achieve your goals.

NTWR on November 8, 2006 at 2:47 PM

I’m not sure if the Republicans will learn from their defeat, but it’s pretty clear to me already that Democrats are going to learn absolutely nothing from their victory (as well as from previous defeats).

After watching a single minute of the lovefest that was the Nancy Pelosi press conference, one overriding thought loomed in my mind:

Why can’t what happens in San Francisco, stay in San Francisco?

jaleach on November 8, 2006 at 2:49 PM

I saw a news story where Pelosi said she was going to run the most ethical House ever. I’ve heard that from a democrat before.

Oh, why aren’t all of the Republicans demanding recount after recount? Why aren’t they claiming voter fraud? Why aren’t they blaming Diebold voting machines?

Oh, that’s right. We’re adults.

Constantine on November 8, 2006 at 2:33 PM

That’s just pure gloating, because it’s not true. However, feel free to gloat. I did after Bush was re-elected, and he’s still sitting on the throne for the next two years, so I’m still gloating.

We all knew more or less that the Dems would take enough seats, but it was no “ass kicking”. Now, let’s see what they do with it. Pelosi has 100 hours to fulfill many promises in the time frame she declared herself. Do you think she has a snowball’s chance in hell of pulling it off? HA! Not a chance. Why? Because her first 100 hours will do more harm than good. Plus, she’ll not attempt to impeach. She promised… pfffft :/

I do look forward to one thing though, making Iraq take care of their own damn selves, we get the hell out, and end the war. Sweet. No more need for Dems for those who vote with their emotions and not their brains. Once we’re out, so are the Dems… and that’s good news!

I’m sure wealthy stockholders are overjoyed at all the Wall Street activity, and all the huge tax breaks they’ve received… the rest of us, not so much. The decrease in unemployment continues a trend that started under Clinton, but the ongoing increase in poverty started under Bush. The economy is started to trend downward, as usually happens after the trickle-down economics bubble bursts (as it did under Reagan). The deficit is what again, after the Republicans spent our surplus? Oh, and there’s all those people being slaughtered in Iraq.

Specifically, we need to deal with:

- huge tax giveaways to big oil

- sweetheart “no competitive bidding” deal made with big pharmaceutical companies

- big legislative gift to credit card companies that make it harder for people to declare bankruptcy when they hit hard times

- lack of oversight of government contractors

- habeas corpus rights that Bush suspended, so we know that the people we’ve detained really are terrorists

Dems delivered the biggest ass-kicking since the U.S. invaded Granada.

The invasion of Grenada may seem to be a joke to you, but it was not without cost. Nineteen Americans did not return from the operation. A decade later, an operation with one fewer American casualty would be considered a defeat.

That moonbat prof that wished for a “million more Mogidishus” should have been criticized for calling for a Muslim genocide. The last 100k or so Mogadishus would have to have been canceled for lack of Muslim participants.

In checking the casualty figures, the kill ratios look to be 5:1 in 1983 and about 70:1 in 1993. Perhaps you should have said, “The biggest ass kicking since Mogadishu.” That statement would better convey the hyperbole that you intended, and it would signal both how ill informed and how out of touch the left is with the realties of the world.

bloggless on November 8, 2006 at 3:50 PM

there’s not a big enough veil to cover Rosie O’Donnell’s face. lol

Starblazer on November 8, 2006 at 3:53 PM

Nah, just Rove. Nice to see that pasty faced worm hoisted on his own petard. Well, actually it’s more than nice. Somewhere between mind-altering bliss and unfettered joy.

I’m sure that Bin Laden will put out a thank you video to the americans who voted for the democrats.

Starblazer on November 8, 2006 at 4:01 PM

…looking at the picture of Comrade Pelosi…er…smiling…I wonder why they call it *PLASTIC* surgery…unless it’s because it makes you look like you’re wearing a Halloween mask made of PVC.

I wonder how many springs and levers it takes to make the grin go back down….

Puritan1648 on November 8, 2006 at 4:02 PM

Yes, she does look a little more shinier than usual. A “tune-up” perhaps?

Hopefully the Democrats will resist the urge to get payback on their Republican colleagues for all the dirty tricks they’ve been playing for the last 6 years and focus on moving forward.

…what? There’s a *DIFFERENT* Democratic Party that won yesterday than the one we’ve been infested with this entire election season? There’s one which has something other than “Bush is Hitler” and “Not cut and run, redeploy” in their playbook?

Totalitarians will be totalitarians. Look to the behavior of Fidel and Che after Batista split, and you’ve a fair estimate of the behavior of the Democratic Party *I* know over the first few month of their majority.

On the other hand, Bush and his invertibrate minions will be all bipartisan, now that they have a Congress with which they can work…we can expect two years of “please sir, can I have another” that any pol from San Francisco can appreciate.

Or what’s a heaven for?

I am partial to “Nasty Pelosi”, myself.

Ho, Nasty let you in on her plan, yet?

bloggless on November 8, 2006 at 4:13 PM

…no. “Barbie”.

Both the other side of 40 (being charitable). Both impossibly thin. Both plastic. And, both wear a painted-on smile.

Barbie.

My apologies to Mattel, Inc.

Puritan1648 on November 8, 2006 at 4:26 PM

- habeas corpus rights that Bush suspended, so we know that the people we’ve detained really are terrorists

Geez, Connie, do you pay any attention whatsoever? Military Commissions Act of 2006

I’m really glad to know that you’re such an informed voter and that you hold the well being of America’s enemies as such a high priority. If we don’t give terrorists every Constitutional protection afforded to American citizens, the terrorists have won.

Pablo on November 8, 2006 at 4:49 PM

It’s pretty pathetic that you guys are botching to bitch about this. You essentially attempted to cheat your way through the election with tens of thousands of robo-calls all across the country, calling people up in the middle of the night, pretending to be Democrats, calling up 6-7 more times after people hung up on the automated messages, trying to get them pissed at the Democrats. Didn’t save you in New Hampshire since a judge shut you down (lol activist judges!).

It probably saved that seat in FL-13. So why are you bitching? Your losses should have been more. You cheated your way to victory in a few marginal seats. FL-13, maybe NM-1 or WY-At Large.

You lost, get over it. Stop acting like a bunch of spoiled brats. We all know Pelos is the Speaker. That doesn’t make her God. Clinton was still calling the shots in the 90′s after Gingrich took over. Controlling Congress basically just gives you a platform to bitch and moan. Pelosi didn’t decapitate Bush.

As Dick Morris has pointed out, however, is that it will probably cost you 2008, especially since this is just going to get conservatives fired up and discarding any idea of voting for Rudy or McCain in the primaries, probably not even Romney.

So, who will it be? Tancredo, Gingrich, Brownback, Frist?

Gingrich has too much baggage, he’ll lose, not even most conservative can stomach this douche (HUrr I’ll impeach Bubba for sexual indiscretions, just let me divorce my wife first and marry by 26 year old secretary!).

Tancredo is a nut, he’s connect to the Council of Conservative Citizens, a white supremacist group in the South formerly known as the White Citizens Council, and he’s talked openly about “bombing Mecca”. So he’s a nut, and he’ll lose in a landslide.

Brownback? He’ll lose in the exact same proportion Dole lost. Calls abortion “the holocaust”. Too conservative, not very charismatic, just a no-name social conservative running in a country that is tired of social conservatism, especially after the Terri Schiavo fiasco. So he’ll lose.

Bill Frist? Seemingly, he’s the only one that isn’t a guaranteed defeat, largely because there’s nothing about him that just screams, “IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN”, the way Gingrich and Tancredo have. Exploiting Terri Schiavo for political game will be good fodder for the campaign ads in 2008. That, and heading a senate that went down in ruin and was hated by the public. He has no accomplishments to run on. Another social conservative that only cares about social conservatism. Gays. Abortion. Flag burning. Doesn’t. Stand. A. Chance.

Good luck in 2008 finding someone who isn’t a nut. The only two guys who even stand a chance, Guiliani and McCain, won’t get the nod. YOu have an irrational hatred of McCain, and Guiliani can’t dodge the abortion bullet since conservatives are mindless religious zealots.

So, you lose. See you in 2010.

Starblazer on November 8, 2006 at 6:17 PM

sorry mikeyboss, i have to disagree with you on that one.

Starblazer on November 8, 2006 at 6:18 PM

Rudy and McCain didn’t have much of a chance for the Republican nomination in ’08 anyway. After Bush, I think the conservative Base is going to be fairly picky in ’08. I personally like Romney, but being from MA, I’ll need to research him more.

Troy Rasmussen on November 8, 2006 at 6:55 PM

Pelosi needs to immediately feel an attack from the right and it should persist until she is gone. Enough whimpering, get a tough sucker as chairman of the GOP, let him mobilize forces and begin the offensive. You can’t beat these thugs by being nice to them. Nothing will destroy them faster than failure and every effort should be taken to ensure they fail.
