What conservatives need to do is to look at the lesson. Does the current Republican Party agree with the policies of the conservative? If there is still some common ground here, we stick with it and try to fix it. If they are treating us like the Democrats treat their black constituency (and women, and gays, etc.), that is taking us for granted, then we need to make a decision to either leave or start weeding out the weiners in the Republican Party. I think losing Lincoln Chaffee last night was a good start in the right direction.

It won’t be easy, but if we’re not serious about the War on Islamofacism and Illegal Aliens and Imminant Domain and the rest, then we need to just shut up, smile and go on along. Otherwise, I say maybe we needed this kick in the ass to wake us up.

I’m going to demand more and better from every single candidate that wants my vote from here on. No more of this “Vote the Party Ticket” crap; its made us fat and lazy. I want my Representatives and Senators to start sweating. I want my next President to be a leader with a plan and the will to implement it.

One last remark: So far, none of the crowd floating trial balloons for the Republican Party Presidential nomination give me the faintest spark of confidence. Maybe Tancredo. But we will suffer the fate that is hamstringing Iraq; no real leadership. We need strong hands on the reigns.

This is what the Republican leadership gets for treating its own base with such contempt, and then expecting them to “root, root root for the home team” when crunch time came. The feeling I had congressional Republicans on Tuesday night was like contemplating yet another disastrous Oakland Raiders season: So busy beating themselves with a lack of discipline, lack of team spirit, lack of leadership, stupid mental mistakes, stupid penalties, and stupid turnovers that they allow the other team to “win” by simply showing up on the field.

In 2004, we gave the Republicans a congressional majority in part, at least, to shove a boot up some richly deserving donkey party greasy butt. We gave them all the tools they needed. And they just sat there, like morons.

Well, most of them at least – except for people like Hagel, DeWine, Snowe, Chaffee and McCain, who always remind me of Ripley’s immortal line from the movie “Aliens”: “I don’t know which is worse – you don’t see them f*cking each other over for a percentage!”.

What did they stand for? What did they accomplish?

- Social Security reform? Nope.

- Making the tax cuts permanent? Uh-uh.

- Border security? Too little, too late, and what they did do they did only grudgingly.

- Pushing forward with conservative judicial nominees? Sorry.

- Fiscal restraint? Hahahahahahahaha.

- Policing their own miscreants? Looked up at the ceiling and whistled is what they did.

Somebody else – I don’t recall the name – encapsulated Tuesday night best:

Donkey party slogan: “Had enough?
Republican party slogan: “It could be worse!”
Voters’ reaction: “Let’s find out.”

Something tells me it won’t involve standing by our Arab and Kurdish Iraqi allies who want to live in a secular and democratic country. If America withdraws from Iraq, they will be the first victims, but certainly not the last.

We’ve abandoned them before in the 1991 Gulf War and Saddam slaughtered them. Fortunately, we’re strong enough to forgive ourselves so that we can abandon them again.

Speaking as one of the troops, I’m safer with a terrorist in front of me than a Democrat behind me.

Look, I’m as disappointed as anyone with the results of last night. I loathe the liberals and liberalism as much as anyone else here, and I’m very skeptical about some of the newly-elected “conservative” democrats, who will owe some allegience to a party that is controlled by the moonbats. I hate the message this election sends to our troops in the field, as well as the message it sends to our enemies.

All that being said, the first place we need to look in figuring out what happened is in the mirror, because the record of the Republican congress in the last two years has been quite a disappointment to those of who put them there in the first place.

Freshmen legislators have absolutely no power. They may come in with rose colored glasses on and attempt to blaze a new trail, but in the end it won’t work for them. Pelosi and Reid will isolate them and cut their nuts off if they stray from the pack.

So America you might get what you want and the Dems will once again get to say that Iraq is just like Viet Nam and they have several members of the original cast returning for an encore performance.

If Dems do recall the troops immediately to make it look like a Vietnam, it would be a huge miscalculation on their part. Hello, Giuliani 2008! Lieberman just won a huge victory in a liberal state. Americans are disappointed in Bush’s handling of the Iraq; they don’t want to withdraw ignobly.

The Iraqi PM has been extremely arrogant lately to the U.S. I bet he will be a little more humble in the upcoming weeks. The Iraqi forces better start training hard.
