I would love to see Steele take on Mr. Pasty White Boy, former governor of one of the most pasty white states in the Union (Vermont), to the mat when he attempts any future race pimping.

Anyway, you brought up a good point. What exactly ARE the requirements/qualifications for being head of the RNC?

Anyway, this whole thread seems mildly interesting, but not really all important, because 1) I don’t think that the RNC is going to ask us our opinion. And 2) I don’t even really know what the head of the RNC does. I have no idea what his power or responsibility entails.

Steele does have a rock star sorta vibe to him. Honestly, I don’t know if that is useful for the RNC head. I almost never hear about our current RNC head (whoever he is, which sorta proves my point. Or maybe just shows that I’m ignorant) or the DNC head, Howard Dean. Yeah, every now and then he shows up in the news, but a lot less than other democratic features.

Anyway, if Steele got the job, I don’t know what he would do with it. Would he make it a real in your face, rock star sort of thing? Or would he just work behind the scenes? I don’t know, and honestly, I’m not that interested. I follow candidates, but not the behind the scenes stuff. Maybe I should, but right now I don’t.

And anyway, what do we have to do with this? This isn’t an elected position. A bunch of behind the scenes republicans are going to make this decision.

Demographics, people. With dhimmis trying to take the hispanic vote and millions of illegals crossing the border, we need every edge we can get.

Also, it doesn’t hurt for black kids to have a positive role model to offset the negative role models like Fiddy Cent and Snoop Diggity Dawg, fo’ shizzle.

Stop teasing. That fellow is a competent breath of fresh air that I would welcome onboard in a heartbeat.

Here is a guy who took what, 45% of the vote in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2 to 1?

This is the strongest argument I’ve seen for considering Steele for a RNC leadership post. However, the party Chairman should not be in the face of the public — that’s the job of the elected leadership!

The primary skills the RNC Chairman requires are (1) fund-raising, and (2) candidate recruitment. I don’t know Steele’s background well enough to know whether he’s good at either task. He could be great. My point was that neither do most of you who were posting about how cool it would be to have a strong black conservative as a party chairman.

The RNC Chairmanship is the ultimate insider’s position. I would expect it to go to somebody very well-connected. Maybe that’s Steele, maybe it’s not. Why not Santorum? Why not retiring Governor Jeb Bush (well, there is that name liability…).

This may be a good move and not because he is black. This may bring the GOP back to the middle.

Why do you think that? People in the middle of the road are often run over. RINO isn’t what we need!!! We need true conservative values that this country was founded upon.

Has anybody ever wondered why Reagan is still talked about as one of our greater Presidents? It wasn’t because he was “middle of the road”. He stood for conservatism. Not as a talking point but as a true belief.

Why is it that liberals always seem to be the first to bring ethnicity into an argument… they just can’t seem to get past it. As a Maryland resident who confidently voted for Steele, I can say (and I know I’m not alone here) that the color of his skin has nothing to do with how I feel about him as a person or a politician. You know, contrary to what the libs would have you believe, “conservative” does not mean “racist.”
