She’s the Kanye West of country music:
And she’s a lib-Dem. Let’s hope they’re all making that face tonight.
Update: I voted this morning, then took my car in for a minor repair. Since I knew it would be a little while, I toted the laptop and set up shop at a Starbucks next door.
About Starbucks, their wifi is waaay overpriced. It works well, if a little slow, but they need to knock that monthly price down several pegs.
Anyway, a couple of middle-aged ladies were seated at the table next to mine. Starbucks tend to have lots of hard floors and glass so the sound of conversation carries, and I could overhear their conversation distinctly. Both were Democrats from the sound of it, and worried that John Kerry’s last-minute gaffe might have cost their side some seats. One interjected that of course, no one in their right mind would actually mean what Kerry had appeared to mean wrt the troops. The other agreed. Then both went on for about five minutes that, of course, just between them, Kerry was entirely right about what he’d said. Not about Bush–about the troops. Being uneducated. They even agreed that the ones serving in Iraq can’t have joined because they saw it as their patriotic duty to go and fight. They only joined for the benefits or because they had nothing better to do with their lives.
Grassroots Democrats. Feel the love, troops and military families. Feel the love.

Did we count our chickens too early… Lets hope the dems have the same face tonight… And the senate is… Rep.

Carrie Underwood is a great story. She’d be topping off a cone at Sonic if it weren’t for her natural talent, guts and the producers of American Idol. In a world of fake blondes, air-brushing and cosmetic surgery, Carrie Underwood is like a breath of fresh air. I’m not a fan of “today’s country” but I’m a big fan of an underdog like Carrie.
budorob on November 7, 2006 at 11:09 AM
Funny! Great reaction, at least she didn’t jump the stage like Kanye.
Here’s hoping not just the Senate but the House remain Republican. I would love to see that face on Pelosi, Kennedy et al.
CrimsonFisted on November 7, 2006 at 11:11 AM
Let’s put that face on all the Libs. Ask everyone you see today if they’ve voted yet. If not, nag them until they do!
stonemeister on November 7, 2006 at 11:19 AM
I want to see all the faces at MSNBC and CNN. I can’t stand Faith or her big hair. Carrie can out sing her on any day and twice on Sundays.
Stormy70 on November 7, 2006 at 11:19 AM
Man, that is priceless!

She’s obviously a diva, didn’t know she was a Dem.

The vote must have been rigged.
Were Diebold machines used in the tally?
;)

Just a little glimpse at the Faith Hill’s ugly underbelly.
jdpaz on November 7, 2006 at 11:36 AM
Why do we waste so much time and money on all these paper dolls! Nice to see someone show their true emotions. Congrats Carrie!
Saveall on November 7, 2006 at 11:36 AM
Oh, Geez. I used to really dig her. How truly … disappointing. And embarrassing.
What’d she say, anyway? My lip reading skills are sub-par. Am I right that she screamed “WHAT?”
And for the record, I’d still like to get a glimpse of her underbelly. :)
P.S. Her husband Timm-eh is going to run for Tennessee governor in the not distant future. You watch.

Well, there are those who provide that blanket of freedom, and those who merely live under it.

I live a few minutes from Nahvegas. This was all over the local news. I used the allmighty tivo to rewnd and watch over and over again. She was not joking–as her PR peeps have stated. She is an ungracious loser. She ain’t got the looks she used to have since she’s lost all that weight. Bit too boney for my taste.
robblefarian on November 7, 2006 at 11:52 AM
HELP! I do not have the plugin for these types of videos.
What in the world do I need to get?
Thanks,
Michael
PS Go Carrie, it’s yer birthday…

Coffee talk Dems aren’t the only one’s w/ “Kerry was right” sentiments. Here’s a wacademic who says Kerry’s “inconvenient truth” justifies reinstituting the draft;

For the record - I gave Kerry the benefit of the doubt that he truly flubbed a joke.
But THIS is not a joke. She was deadly serious. No question about it.

Check her new wikipedia entry. Too funny. This is going to be very popular when Tim McGraw runs for office …
Professor Blather on November 7, 2006 at 12:01 PM
Great post Bryan. I was going to blog the Faith Hill “botched joke” (I assume?) but am at work and instead blogged a little last minute WY politics.
So many people I attend church with have called me asking specically who to vote for. I almost feel like I’m cheating with all these GOP votes — but it isn’t like the democrat style of cheating — I mean all these people are still alive and are not household pets:)
wytammic on November 7, 2006 at 12:04 PM
I’m not a big fan of country music, but I heard a Carrie Underwood song “Before he cheats” on the radio this week, and about ran off the road from laughing so hard.
So thumbs up to her…

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the Dems lost *big* time!!!
FYI starbucks WiFi *is* way overpriced darn if it isn’t cheaper to get WiFi on an flight overseas

Considering all the crap Sara Evans is going through right now, I would have pegged her for the breakdown.
Nethicus on November 7, 2006 at 12:42 PM
Can’t stand to lose to the new kid on the block? I certainly hope Ben Cardin has the same reaction when the numbers come in tonight.
As for Faith Hill, I saw her live a couple of years ago and she sang in 8 different keys, in the same song that is. She’s always been all looks and no talent. Carrie has her beat in both departments.

What is “WiFi”?
I do not visit Starbucks. I am not a coffee drinker.
Faith Hill is a fairly attractive “married” woman. Carrie is definitely an attractive woman and she definitely is gifted with a beautiful singing voice as well as a good ear to hear pitch and match pitch. I was not aware that she was a Lib-Dem. How did she become one?
My favorite female country singers are Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood.
“dementia unbound,” that comment about Faith singing in 8 different keys - all in one song, indicating that she can’t hold a note, is funny.
I think that of so many other “singers” from different muscial styles. They slide and jump around trying to find a note they cannot find, which indicates to me that they can hear, or never really had proper ear training, and they don’t have proper breath control, so their singing is not the best, but they got pushed out into the public eye anyway.
There is an advertisement for a musical CD which is titled “Divas.” On this CD they feature female singers. There are some great, well trained singers with excellent voices, such as Sarah Brightman. One thing which stands out is they actually include Madonna on this album.
Maddona on an album with people who can sing, and sing in pitch? Calling her a diva? What a joke!
To hear a great singer with a great ear, one needs merely listen to the likes of Cecilia Bartolli, Italian Mezzo Soprano. She is to voice what Iztak Pearlman is to violin.
Of course young Emmy Russum, the girl who was 17 when she played Christine in the movie version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” is another young woman who has an excellent voice and a good ear, as is Sarah Brightman - a monster, and a few others. Emmy has acted in several movies, including Mystic River - she was the daughter who was murdered, Poseidon, Day After Tomorrow.

Politics definitely aside on this one, Faith Hill got caught in what were two very real human moments. The first was the “WHAT?!?!” moment, when she realized that someone else’s name was called, and the second, which people aren’t having nearly enough fun with, was the “Oh S**t, the camera caught the WHAT?!?! moment!”Let anyone who hasn’t: 1. Been passed over for promotion in favor of some yutz who you think is a whole lot less qualified. 2. The same for any combination of dating scenarios involving the one you want and the moron they hook up with. 3. Lost any form of award you worked your tail off to get. 4. Found yourself on the short end of a vote which turned out to be a popularity contest for the clique you weren’t in at the time — Be the first one to throw stones. PS…Mmmmmm…underbelly…
52Ranger on November 7, 2006 at 1:57 PM
I’ll just say that I can’t stand country music for the most part and can’t believe that they give awards for it. However, Shania Twain (sp?) is probably the best looking woman I’ve ever seen in my life.
Hill’s reaction is very funny to watch. Nice find.
Benaiah on November 7, 2006 at 1:58 PM
Come on, someone please tell me this quote is a joke:

So Hill is a sudden grad of the Kerry School Of Yuck-Yucks, is she?
Teddy on November 7, 2006 at 2:35 PM
Let me see if I can throw you a lifeline, y2church.
I am surprised that you can’t see the video, cuz it is a YouTube, which is very userfriendly to use. You don’t need RealPlayer or WindowsMedia to use it.
So I am wondering if the problem is your internet settings.
Go to “Tools” on the taskbar of your internet browser.
Click “internet Options.”
Click the “security tab”
Make sure your security setting is not set on “high”. If it is, put it on medium or below.
The reason for this is that if you have it set on high, Active X controls will not work, and they are necessary to watch YouTube videos.
I hope this helps.

Too.Damned.Funny! I couldn’t give a Rat’s RearEnd about this dyed blond nitwit, her drugstore cowboy husband, or any of them, but that was just too precious.

HotAir is recognized by Google as News! As in a News Medium. Typing in “Faith Hill” in the News search and up pops HotAir in the FOURTH slot with this:

The Good Professor wrote: “For the record - I gave Kerry the benefit of the doubt that he truly flubbed a joke.”
I didn’t. I remain convinced that he meant exactly what he said. I’ll grant that he didn’t mean to express that thought aloud, though. In that sense, he “misspoke.”
As for the overheard conversation between two democratic women related by Bryan, I believe that their comments are commonly shared beliefs among liberals. Remember, these are the same people who strongly oppose any and all military recruitment or any military recruiters on campuses, either high school or college.

Starbucks’ internet is actually operated by T-Mobile, as is Borders’ internet. The monthly subscription is equal to three days’ use.
I’m sure that T-Mobile will soon revise their internet rates to keep up with Verizon.

Thanks EFG,
Turns out it’s my work content filter. I was at school when I couldnt get the vid. Works fine at home and I see that indeed it’s youtube. That’s blocked for obvious reason at the SCHOOL where I teach.
Usually it posts a “blocked” message in the window so that I can know what’s going on. But not in this case, hence my confusion.
Thanks,
Michael
