I think Bush feels that it is the Legislative Branch's role to legislate, so he is loathe to veto. We'll see.

It would be a bit unfortunate if the BSG writers are prescient (about the wrong people losing the election). The people on New Caprica survived, but they took serious losses in the process.

Right now I feel like I'm watching a real life version of the Battlestar Galactica election near the end of season 2. It's truly horrifying to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that a victory by the Democrats spells almost certain disaster for this country, yet the majority of voters are voting in favor of that disaster.

There's the same temptation to steal the election just to avoid the inevitable return of terrorist attacks within the U.S., mixed with the same sad knowledge that we cannot do it because it would destroy us from within.

Our country is lost and I am grieving for her.

Lamont just conceded, but I have a question…with only 21% of the results reported, he’s down by about 7 points. Huh? Why concede so early? And what happens if the 79% remaining boost Lamont over Liebs. What happens then?

I suspect he will un-conceed like Gore did in 2000.

Oops. Hit the button before I finished. Stuff like this is why I've always been taught, "Never give up!" If there is any possibility of a win (especially with the majority of results not yet in), there is zero reason to concede, no?

Not that I'm unhappy about Lamont quitting, but what's the point of doing so when there is any shred of hope remaining?

Yes, marianpaul, I have.

But it's still wrong none the less. When I did it, and when you did it.

Don't pull a Kerry style explanation here.

If you think I'm being hard on you, well, I am. Cuz what you said deserves it.

We may get an attack. But we don't deserve it.

Have you never screamed something in anger or frustration without really meaning it. Everyone at one time or another has said in the heat of emotion that they hate something when they really don't, in their heart of hearts, mean it.

Can someone explain how they (anyone) can call a race for somebody when only 1% of the precincts have reported and said somebody (Cardin in this case) is trailing in the vote count?

Yeah, this bugs me too. The numbers posted on CNN and Fox both show Steele ahead but they're calling it for Cardin. You'd think that after all the problems with exit polling the past three major elections they'd have learned to be a bit more careful. Really very annoying.

I'm not saying he won't still win (and face it, MD is pretty blue), but calling it based only on that data would set of my skeptic-o-meter.

Sure thing marianpaul. Sure. I went over and checked out your blog. Super. You think that gives you a free pass to drop sh*t like this?

I hate this country. We deserve what we get even an attack.

You drop something like that on this blog? Why don't you go hang out with the KKKOS heads or DU? That sort of sentiment would probably get you plenty of kudos from them.

But maybe I'm missing something.

I hate this country. We deserve what we get even an attack.

Maybe I'm missing the nuance here. The layers. My God, I'm sure there is all sorts of irony, or somesort of metaphore here. Yeah, thats it. I guess it is sort of KOS style "screw 'em" statement. Well kudos to you.

Me? I just saw someone drop a big steaming dump on the floor. You? I guess you could be a performance artist in San Francisco or Massachusits. Yeah... I guess that was your little performance art.

I call it crap.

The most satisfying result of the night is Ken Blackwell losing for governor in Ohio. I understand Ohioans also passed a proposition that mandates all the ballots Blackwell invalidated in 2004 be rammed up his ass.

The exit polls don’t look so hot for Tom Kean in New Jersey either

What Senator Bob Menendez is saying behind your back (illegal immigration, ethnic solidarity) Great, we in NJ will have a senator more interested in his ethnicity than in his state. Someone who would rather represent his "Latino brothers and sisters" than New Jerseyans. If Kean had said something like "my white brothers and sisters, we can influence this election" it would be all over the MSM, and he'd be attacked by everyone who supports (or doesn't have a problem with) Menendez's comments.

Chris Shays, slight lead, 4% in.

Doesn't look good for Johnson.

CBS called for Lieberman? That would be half of my night, anyway.
I can go back to hating almost everything he votes for, now. But the Kos-man lost again.

56.9% Murphy
43.09% Johnson

Simmons (CT 2nd) not looking too bad.
That would be great. No word on Shays.
