JaHerer22 wrote: "True, but four years after we declared war we had won a resounding victory, emerged as the world’s richest and most powerful country, and the only country with nuclear weapons.

Four years after declaring war on Iraq, well, we haven’t accomplished quite as much to say the least…"

Unlike WWII, the USA has not engaged in Total War with Iraq. We have not been, nor are we interested in, destruction of Iraq as a state or the Iraqi people. We invaded Iraq to effect a regime change.

Had we been interested in fighting a Total War with Iraq, much of Iraq, includine all its major cities, would be flattened, and radioactive, from the firepower of just one Trident Sub.

Point 2: We have accomplished MUCH. Don't believe what the media says. First and foremost, Iraq has had 3 elections, with 12 million participants in the last one. That is a significant accomplishment and that only happened because the Ba'athist regime was forcibly removed from power by the invasion. Saddam, the Butcher of Baghdad, is going to the gallows, as he deserves. The "rape rooms" run by him and his two monster sons no longer exist. Our efforts have given the Iraqi people a chance. It is up to them to capitalize on it.

Point 3: Iraq does not now have, or will have in the foreseable future, any weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons. Saddam's program was ended by the United States and the UK because of the invasion, and his stockpile of yellowcake was confiscated. As a result, Iraq is not longer a threat to its neighbors as it was under Saddam.

To summarize: a major war criminal and mass murderer has been removed from power and is on his way to the gallows. His "dynasty" was ended when his sons were killed. Iraq no longer has any WMDs or a program to develop nukes, and Iraq is no longer a threat to their neighbors. And a country of 26 million souls has been liberated from a monsterous dictator.

That's quite a lot to have accomplished.

Oh Constantine Dahling: Be informed that Haliburton and other contractors are doing a MUCH better job of logistical support than did the 1st Log Command ("Leaning Outhouse") of Vietnam. Ditto for Spanish-American War, Philippine War World War I, World War II and Korea.
I have little doubt that the total monetary cost to the taxpayer will be less than what the government has ripped us off for in the past.
You want to complain about a better job done for less money?
Not without my informing you that you are a two-legged dry hole and not owrth the price of a worn-out cable tool.

The reasoning is, if they despise America, and our armed forces so much, then they should have never gone into the military. And if our military was so bad, other than for their greed for money, why did they stay so long?

I can't understand why so many keep confusing support for the troops with disdain for the military. I've repeatedly seen John Kerry's congressional testimony distorted beyond recognition into "treason". Wes Clark believes our military should not have been delivered to a hostile region that was no threat to us, underequipped and undersupported with a poorly planned campaign. This means he hates America and the military? He wants to keep our servicemen and women out of such quagmires by illustrating what has happened.

Likewise, you're confusing disgust with military contractors who have wasted hundreds of millions with their fraud and malfeasance with disdain for the military itself. Two different things. Part of the problem with this administration is it doesn't take enough interest in prosecuting corporations who are bilking the military and the American taxpayer.

I believe that any career military person that hung around just for their retirement, then came back to bash our government and the military, should be tried for treason. Clearly, retired General Wesley Clark is a classic shameful example of a disgrace to the United States, and to the uniform he once wore. The reasoning is, if they despise America, and our armed forces so much, then they should have never gone into the military. And if our military was so bad, other than for their greed for money, why did they stay so long?

Or did invoke it. Why do liberals like Constantine act like they're cut from finer cloth and molded from final clay? Why are we still allies with Britain?

William, when I visit my mom and dad (ages 86 and 88), they have Katie Couric on. I won't enter the room until they turn off the set. That's how repulsive the newscasts have become.

One thing I have observed during this election cycle, and the previous election cycle, and the cycle before that, and the one before that, is that there definitely IS a left wing, liberal, pro-democrat bias in the majority, paleo-media, the one that people refer to as the main stream media, such as the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Post, etc., along with Newsweek, Time, and similar magazines, and ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN, and even the likes of the BBC (not necessarily a US based operation), and others.

This bias comes on strong, loud, and clear as the media actually acts like the promoters for the Democrat candidates and their issues and agenda (Issues? What issues, other than Bush Derangement Syndrome and demonizing our own country and our own troops, making excuses for Muslim militants, and such).

It is so blatant, in your face, and obvious! While watching the news on television on these main stations, their news itself is editorialized and slanted a la Democrat, and anti-Republican, anti-conservative. The print news is the same. For example, instead of making the headline about Kerry's condescension toward our soldiers, the headline reads something like "Bush attacks Kerry for his comments." Then the news won't even tell readers what Kerry said, not until numerous paragraphs later.

The story becomes how evil the Republicans are, those nasty waskals (spelling intentional)!

Bush cannot get good news. The news outlets repeat the false talking points and propaganda which claims such things as "The economy is a mess," and "Bush lost his war," (Bill Maher had the audacity to make this false claim while closing his program this week.) Other phony claims "The war has actually made us less safe, and created more terrorists."

What do these people want? Do they want us to sit on our hands and do nothing as the Muslim radical theocratic forces continue to engage in world wide domination and establishment of a caliphate, a task they surely will succeed, possibly during the next fifty years or so, because we in the west, save for a few, are weak, soft, and cowards, and we won't stand up and fight for our way of life, but instead we engage in opposing those brave few who actually DO sacrifice to fight for our way of life.

Bush is the convenient scapegoat. The news media has kept a great deal of information from the people, filtering out that which is favorable to conservatives and Republicans, while magnifying that which is favorable to liberals, leftists, democrats, even if they have to exaggerate it and fabricate it in order to come up with a story to help the Dems.

It is pathetic, and it is working.

How can a conservative or republican get a single vote this way, let alone win an election?

Nevertheless, conservatives and Republicans have won several elections regardless of the heavy weight of news media and Hollywood propaganda against them, but it isn't easy, and it is a surprise when lies, exaggerations, and omissions can affect an election, and people's awareness, so strongly.
