Video: Michael Steele unloads on WaPo

He neglects to mention their “relentlessly positive” profile of charisma vacuum Ben Cardin and the fact that they buried his recent endorsement by six prominent local black Democrats in the Metro section.
Maybe he figured he didn’t need to point those out now that Deborah Howell, WaPo’s own ombudsman, has acknowledged the unfairness.
I think the boss has a little crush.

Steele got it perfectly right. The WaPo journos behave like they represent the people. They don’t.
Steele will represent the people.
Niko on November 5, 2006 at 8:09 PM
Anybody know if this is getting played on local news in Maryland?
Bad Penny on November 5, 2006 at 8:15 PM
That ending is the perfect sound bite! Of course it won’t get picked up by any of the old media.
MT on November 5, 2006 at 8:16 PM
Here’hoping the WaPo has it’s salt shaker handy!!!
Go Steele!

HAHA Eat it Washington Post!
lorien1973 on November 5, 2006 at 8:21 PM
The Washington Post has decided that they don’t like Steele based on a lack of experience and a record (riiight…), while the opposition candidate has no “grasp” of how to appear minimally intelligent and informed when sitting next to Mr. Steele during a debate/interview. The slant in their endorsement is obvious… Wait for the oops-ed piece on Wednesday…

On my door at The Willard this morning was a comp copy of that rag. I left it hanging there and took the shower cap.

Man, it’s great to have someone to root for in this election.

Eat it!
I love this guy!
infidel4life on November 5, 2006 at 8:41 PM
You have got to love this guy. I would kill to have been a fly on the wall when he met with the editorial board..just to watch their expression as Lt. Gov. Steele basically told them to get bent. WTG Lt. Gov/Senator-elect Steele. BTW…the way WaPo is losing readership, who cares which candidate they endorse. What a bunch of clowns.

The local news in MD is as biased as the WaPo. Some clarification to help people in the free world understand Maryland politics!
When the Post and Baltimore Sun endorsed Kathleen KENNEDY Townsend for Gov 4 years ago – she had never been elected to office – was Lt Governor for 2 terms and her claim to fame was that she spearheaded a Juvenile Detention Boot Camp program that was kicking the sh*t out of the inmates at a faster more regular rate than Abu Gharaib. The Sun did an undercover piece uncovering the abuse and the “Boot Camp” was immediately closed. She took no responsibility and fired the director. Yet – she was endorsed over current Gov Ehrlich – a long term State Del and 2 term Congressman. Her running mate (forgot his name)was a former military guy that had been a Republican – also never held an elected office! So they endorsed the Kennedy woman (moved to Maryland for strategic reasons), of course and wrote that Steele brings nothing to the ticket other than his race!! Trust me – this is real. They never apologized. Dems threw Oreo cookies at him at a forum at a Black College and regularly reffered to him as a Tom. There are many Black TV news reporters in Baltimore – yet not one voiced dissapproval or stood up for Steele. Freakin Sickening!
Gov Ehrlich had 2 Sun reporters banned from any contact with any of his people due to some bold face lies they got caught printing. One instance the “reporter” wrote about an event 1st hand and he was not there! The Sun took him to court and lost 2-3 appeals!
I am so proud of the Black Democrats and Religous leaders that have crossed the line to support Steele. The Dems and Press in Maryland treat the Black community worse than any state that I can think of. The current situation is deplorable and I can understand how Black Dems are finally getting disgusted. Funny thing is that the WaPo and Baltimore Sun and the majority of Dems in the State can’t understand what the problem is? The attitude is – Cmon – we give you welfare and food stamps and take photos in the bad parts of town during election season- annnnnddd – We are Democrats – the party of John Fitzgerald Kennedy. WHY AREN’T YOU HAPPY?
Go Steele Go!

The free Metro in Philadelphia is horrible… It’s so left that one day last week it had 4 pictures of Obama, on 4 separate pages, and included the headline story “Obama may run in 2008″. I ask… how is that considered news less than 2 weeks before this election? Enough for 4 separate pictures w/text about the greatness on the man accompanying each, in a paper that is suppose to be a “15 minute read”?
I’ve notice though that when ever this rag drops to the floor, it always bounces to the left before it spins to the left and ends up in the gutter… But that’s just my observation.

This man has to win.
BY THE POWER OF DIEBOLD, I COMMAND THEE!

Steele for president baby!!!!!!!!
Defector01 on November 5, 2006 at 10:11 PM
Just to drive the liberals nuts the Republicans should run this guy for President in the near future and use the motto, “Steele the election!”.
Benaiah on November 5, 2006 at 10:47 PM
say that again.
This is classic. We gonna replace all those wooden republicans with some steele. This guy keeps impressing. There is nothing joyful as giving people their own ass to smell.
Ouabam on November 5, 2006 at 10:50 PM
…a bunch of white establishment college weenies dismiss Mr. Steele as someone who “only brings the color of his skin” to the table…and he stands up like a man and slaps the idle words of an idle class back toward their teeth.
…that’s guts. Guts plays well among the working folks of America, which, just as everywhere else, is what Black America is. The whole “Republicans have the key to the plantation” gambit is getting very threadbare…all the more so when black wishes are taken for granted and black candidates are very crudely slimed by the black proteges of these Ivy League faux aristocrats among the establishment press and their party.
On November 7th, Steele will be the man of the hour.
Puritan1648 on November 5, 2006 at 10:53 PM
holy s***, that was great.

Why doesn’t Gorbachev take over as editor of the Post? Who better to dismantle an outdated, rusted bureaucracy run by diluted dictators?

I love this man!
“Eat it.” Yeah, baby!
You can see why MM might have a crush: Steele really is a very good looking man, in addition to being articulate and right on the issues.
Jen the Neocon on November 6, 2006 at 1:11 AM
Me too; but Pablo is still first, and there is Bryan P…
I predict that Mr. Steele wins and this will be one of the significant news of the evening.
All the media/pundits/reporters will have to “eat it” – hardest for Messrs C. Matthews and K. Olbermann
Entelechy on November 6, 2006 at 1:22 AM
Homework assignment for everyone. Find a vid clip of Steele looking anything but classy, poised, intelligent, and ready to lead.
Nah, never mind, it’s a goose-chase.
I haven’t been this impressed by a politician in … hmm. Reagan, that’s about it.
Steele knows what he believes, he doesn’t find out from polls, ala Clinton. He says precisely what he means to say, usually without notes. And he doesn’t hesitate to take his “clue-by-four” (tm MM) to anyone who decides to attack him without substance.
But, does he have ‘gravitas’?
Freelancer on November 6, 2006 at 1:53 AM
Freelancer, you have to ask?!
Does he have gravitas?
Would it sound wrong if I said, “in spades?” Because he does!
As you said, after RR and GWB, this man is an exciting, commanding candidate for the GOP!

Does this man ever come across as weak? What a badass!
WaPo can “eat it”.
Black Adam on November 6, 2006 at 4:11 AM
Steele. Man of. Just what the Republicans need: a leader who can bring together the inner cities and Southern/Western conservatives in the last great civil rights battle against the Northern/Ivory Tower/Left Coast (racist!!) liberal/progressive factions. Haven’t heard much from him on foreign policy, but I have a feeling he isn’ t going to disappoint. Steele in 2016?
itomania on November 6, 2006 at 4:17 AM
Steele is Super!
Wish more Republicans would talk like that!
flagwaver on November 6, 2006 at 7:13 AM
The pen may be mightier than the sword, but Steele is stronger, tougher, and smarter than paper.
right2bright on November 6, 2006 at 8:14 AM
Just had a thought – for ‘08
Steele / Condi or Condi / Steele
It would be worth it just to watch the liberal press writhe.

“The Washington Post will have to write that headline, and then they’ll have to eat it”
Love it.
dalewalt on November 6, 2006 at 9:12 AM
Excellent clip. Steele is a man of character. Bust a cap in a WoPo’s ass for me, Steele!
Coronagold on November 6, 2006 at 9:32 AM
I do. Everytime I see this guy I get infatuated more and more.
I really hope he doesn’t have any skeletons or massive RINO leanings.
Esthier on November 6, 2006 at 10:52 AM
Loved it! I relly like the aggresive put up with no BS mentality. I wish more Repub’s had Mr Steele’s attitude ……it would be a landslide victory.
Sarcasm, Just one more service I offer.
VikingGoneWild on November 6, 2006 at 11:10 AM
AWESOME!!!
No wonder the boss and others have a crush on this guy. How can you not like him if you are not a democrat? He’s got a total winning attitude and his confidence is highly contagious.
Go Steele!!!!

Write it-then eat it!
GAAAA…I love it.
WriterMom on November 6, 2006 at 12:08 PM
Ah, the absolute reality of speaking truth to power.
Steele and Tony Snow are able to refute in realtime like this.
Those two may well be teaching others by their example.
.
The Machine on November 6, 2006 at 12:39 PM
That’s the thing — a lot of democrats (mostly black democrats) do like him. There are plenty of ivory-tower academics and white, white-bread pundits that loathe the man, but hey — judging by the fact that Mr. George W. Bush is still in the White House after six years, I don’t think the haters are in the majority.
And besides that, let’s face it; Steele just has a way with words. This is the way to fight the good fight!
