Video: Hot Republican girls want to talk to you

Wasn’t there a webpage during the 2004 campaign where Democrats could fake-pledge to have sex with Republicans in return for a promise that they’d vote for Kerry?

I don’t know why I just thought of that.

Allah, are you saying that if I go to gop.com I can…..uh……..with MKH?

I shouldn’t be thinking these thoughts…

Allah, are you saying that if I go to gop.com I can…..uh……..with MKH?

Talk to her on the phone? Maybe!

Allahpundit on November 4, 2006 at 10:34 PM

I am so there.

infidel4life on November 4, 2006 at 10:36 PM

I do have to say she is extremely beautiful. I think it’s just compounded by the fact that shes extremely intelligent, too.

jematlock on November 4, 2006 at 10:37 PM

HEY! MKH is using an affiliate link on her site to get credit for people making calls her in place!

http://www.gop.com/NeighborToNeighbor/GetReferral.aspx

That’s not right. :( I certainly hope she’s dialing a few numbers there herself if she is promoting this.

lorien1973 on November 4, 2006 at 10:42 PM

Um, there’s a blogger competition. That’s the Townhall blog referral, so the blog gets credit for its readers. I’m not being shady.

marykatharine on November 4, 2006 at 10:46 PM

So? It’s a braggin’ rights thing … I don’t see where anyone is getting any kind of financial consideration for the referrals. Why not make it a contest just for funsies if it encourages more people to participate?

LissaKay on November 4, 2006 at 10:51 PM

does this include Kirsten Powers? I mean she’s basically a republican…..:-p

Defector01 on November 4, 2006 at 10:56 PM

Does one think that the liberal MSM might start paying more attention to conservatives if they start to “sex it up”? Seems like they would, especially what they did with Foley and now Haggard.

I’m now imagining a different take on ‘The Vent when the ladies do ‘The View’ parody.

That’s clever… but even more manipulative than the ad with the little girl who says Talent will kill her!

frankj on November 4, 2006 at 11:58 PM

The Dems had girls pledging to give it up for your vote….that sounds like a typical Liberal “Government-Will-Provide” program so you will be dependant on them for your every need.

While on the other hand, the Republicans in the true spirit of independance, encourage you over the phone to take matters into your own hands.

*Sigh* Same old Saturday night…;-)

Texan on November 5, 2006 at 12:10 AM

Ha ha, you censor, Allahpundit. MKH, whom I respect, runs an ad mimicking phone sex girls, and you remove a comment about her being [censored]. That’s hilarious.

Libs would accuse you of being hypocritical, but that’s going too far.

Still, you cannot run ads strongly, strongly using the late night telephone meet up for dates girls meme without expecting mildly worded comments like that. And every man was thinking it or something similar (put in other language she’s very pretty — and sexy) and she knows it.

In fact, her behavior was blatantly designed to provoke that thought… in a funny way.

She realizes it, as do you. You’re too funny dude. You should go back to censoring fogw [November 4, 2006 at 3:06 PM and ignoring his question why.

I apologize to anyone who was offended that I suggested a woman who is clearly using her sexual attractiveness to make a political ad using late-night sexual chat services' formula is, in fact, [censored].

She has a great mind. My comment is that while the ad is funny, she has to either accept a bit of good natured playful ribbing such an ad opens her up to, or not do such ads.

My recommendation would be the latter, but the former is fine too. If she ain’t prissy about getting a reply.

I’d never make that comment about Michelle, but then she would never, ever have made that ad.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 12:34 AM

Anyway, yes, get out the vote. If I didn’t live in another country and support you more in spirit and in argument than in my daily efforts, I’d place a few calls myself as I did during our recent Canadian election (in person, not over the phone).

Good luck! I think that Tuesday will be a better day than the GOP has any right to expect.

I don’t intend anything I wrote as criticism of Mary Katharine Ham.

The first TV appearance I saw her in was substandard, the second, the very next one, was extraodinary. Massive improvement. I hope she will continue to mark herself as a serious commentator.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 12:38 AM

I think that Tuesday will be a better day than the GOP has any right to expect.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 12:38 AM

I sure hope you’re right Bro.

infidel4life on November 5, 2006 at 12:43 AM

I do too, infidel, because I will live in this world, either in Canada or Australia, and I love my honey to bits. The more secure the world is for her the better.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 12:45 AM

You should go back to censoring fogw [November 4, 2006 at 3:06 PM and ignoring his question why.

I “ignored” his question because (a) I didn’t see it until you just mentioned it, and (b) now that I have seen it, I think it’s stupid. Constantine wasn’t “joking” when he mentioned 2,800 troops being “out of work.” He was making a point, pointedly. Nothing light-hearted about it. In contrast to joking about David Gregory getting his head cut off.

As for your being “censored,” if you want to ramble on about the things you’d like to do to Mary Katharine, by all means start your own “I’d like to do X, Y, and Z to Mary Katharine” blog.

To everyone else: I don’t see all the comments on the site, guys. Collectively, you do. If you see something objectionable, you can always e-mail me to give me a heads up. In fact, I’d be grateful if you did. Alternatively, if you think I’ve been unfair, you’re welcome to e-mail Michelle and say so. I dare say that on the subject of making lewd remarks about MK, she’d come down on my side.

Allahpundit on November 5, 2006 at 12:51 AM

Fair enough about fogw; you didn’t see his questions about why you removed his comment and I can’t give an opinion on his comment since I didn’t see it.

The fact is I have no desire (as opposed to random thoughts provoked by her provocative ad) to do anything to Mary Katharine Ham, it was an adverb.

I’m sure Michelle would come down on your side because, as I noted above, she’s more conservative in a sexual sense.

I’m pointing out that somewhat ribald (and very mildly at that) adjectives are to be expected when making ads of that nature.

The entire blog goes on about, “Bethany is so hot, MHK, is so fine, that lady on the view is too, etc.,” and I don’t usually because I don’t care.

But if you do an ad yourself, Allahpundit, where you dress up like a late night male model looking for a partner for a casual fling, don’t be surprised if I or someone apply words to you they would not otherwise — without your action.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 1:37 AM

Alternatively, if you think I’ve been unfair, you’re welcome to e-mail Michelle and say so.

Let’s get Allahpundit fired! He’s like a traitor or something.

frankj on November 5, 2006 at 1:41 AM

Put another way… and I’ll leave it here since I understand your point of view too and see it as valid… I knew I was pushing the envelope a bit and partly did it to make a point since I anticipated this follow up criticism… is that if a woman who is very beautiful and well dressed is talking about a serious topic I may, may compliment her appearance, but I won’t go on about how sexy she looks… but if a woman does a mock ad with herself as the subject imitating blatant late night sexual come-ons, then I will feel more liberated.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 1:43 AM

AP is one of the best bloggers out there. I’m not trying to suck up or patronize him. I usually agree with him in broad terms and he always has another valid viewpoint, even if it’s a bit softer than mine.

He keeps this place running even more than Michelle does and Michelle is great. Just that this has a great Allahpundit stamp on it, with Michelle providing some awesome Vent content.

I came for the Vent, but stayed for the blog.

Bryan is second to none too and I miss Ian’s old blog. Heck, I disagreed with him for the opposite reason that I often disagree with AP… he’s too hard core!

But we all have our opinions. And as the great American philosopher, Clint Eastwood, said:

An opinion’s like an asshole. Everybody’s got one.

SailorDave on November 5, 2006 at 6:30 AM

MKH, or whoever came up with that idea, is hilarious.

RightWinged on November 5, 2006 at 7:47 AM

If I am not mistaken, this is a direct parody of a “meet singles in your area” ad, NOT a 900 number or sex hot line.

I plan to make some calls this afternoon and tomorrow. Despite what the NYT wants people to believe, I am pumped up about Tuesday, and appreciate this chance to do something about it!

eucher on November 5, 2006 at 8:24 AM

I’m a Republican thinking of voting for Webb on Tuesday, could you get every GOP hottie in Northern Virginia to call me to change my mind?

(Well, actually, even typing that I would consider voting for Webb makes me ill.)

As for your being “censored,” if you want to ramble on about the things you’d like to do to Mary Katharine, by all means start your own “I’d like to do X, Y, and Z to Mary Katharine” blog.

I see a lot of that by posters and commenters here and at AoS directed at MKH and other female political writers. Having to read over and over losers saying they “would do her” has gotten very very old.

EF on November 5, 2006 at 9:36 AM

Why did I watch that right before going to church this morning. Now I feel “dirty”. Anyway, very clever ad MKH!

I feel so violated.

One Angry Christian on November 5, 2006 at 10:26 AM

Anyone that has witnessed the rise of Mary Katherine’s star as a conservative “info babe” would immediately recognize the comic twist that adds flair to a legitimate topic.

She knows how to tap the intellectual vein with glee — as Michelle often does (much to the chagrin of the left wing/liberal chattering dolts that comprise her “opposition”).

This legitimate American applauds her efforts. If she can get in a barb or two, hell, I love it even more.

Spider Dan on November 5, 2006 at 11:04 AM

While everybody’s all breathless over MK, what’s really sexy is that the GOP has cut the “generic ballot” gap by 60% in two weeks!

True, and it’s hilarious. MKH, or whoever came up with the idea is awesome. But I just wanted to confirm that you are correct for folks who may not be familiar with the commercials and not get that this is a parody.

RightWinged on November 5, 2006 at 12:18 PM

Christoph’s notion that he can take what is obviously a spoof of singles date lines, and a clever one at that, and use that as an excuse to move into the sexual realm in his comments, has a vaguely Hilali feel to it. “Hey, she opened the door! I just went through it.”

Constantine wasn’t “joking” when he mentioned 2,800 troops being “out of work.” He was making a point, pointedly. Nothing light-hearted about it. In contrast to joking about David Gregory getting his head cut off.

I had put this whole incident to rest until I saw this post today. I always thought that HotAir was a site where people came to freely express their opinions. My opinion, rather a sarcastic comment comparing Harrigan’s waterboard torture to imagining Gregory simulating the more brutal torture techiques of terrorists, was censored.

Now you’re standing by Constantine’s disgusting remarks about our troops, saying he was making a point, pointedly. Making a point about job employment by bringing up the thousands who have died for our country is OK, but taking a jab at one liberal jounalist is over the top. What do several thousand dead American soldiers have to do with job employment in this country AP? That’s not pointed, that’s blunted and pointing in the wrong direction if you ask me.

I was making a point. And as I said when I pleaded with you to reinsert my post, it wasn’t meant to be a deathwish on Gregory, it was only making a point that our torture is less lenient than their torture. That was the point. Inserting Gregory into the comparison was my sarcastic way of making the point, because these liberal journalists report the news with a bias against our troops and against our short-of-murdering interrogation techniques.

Now you insult me by calling me stupid. You express your opinion of what I had to say, or how I said it, without ever letting the commenters here see what I actually said in my post. They cannot judge if my post was “over the top” or genuinely funny. That’s censorship of the worst kind.

You have convicted me without letting the jury see the evidence.

fogw on November 5, 2006 at 1:18 PM

I hope I’m not banned for expressing my opinion.

fogw on November 5, 2006 at 1:21 PM

Aren’t they forgetting the women’s vote with this ‘ad’?

(Other than Hillary R.C. and Janet Reno, I mean.)

Shouldn’t they also have a vocal parody of D- guy doing the distaff version? Maybe a cloned “Al Franken”? I know his dulcet tones (a cross between a klaxon and a kangaroo giving birth) would send most women to the R-list immediately. (It worked wonders for Air America.)

EF on November 5, 2006 at 1:53 PM

I like to express free speech.

How do you know what I expressed? You never saw it, you’ve only heard AP’s description of what I said.

If I was a wuss, I’d keep my mouth shut and dance to the beat of AP.

fogw on November 5, 2006 at 1:58 PM

You were a wuss for so ardently defending yourself then adding a wuss post script: please don’t ban me! And lose the free speech analogy. Allah may be a deity but he ain’t the state.

EF on November 5, 2006 at 2:20 PM

fogw, AP hasn’t threatened to ban you. He just removed a post that he found over the line. I understand his thinking.

I’d have to see how you worded it to understand whether I agree with him or not.

If it could be construed as endorsing a journalist’s beheading — when journalists are in danger of being beheaded — then for ethical and legal reasons I’d have to agree with him.

I watched a horrible video of Eugene Armstrong being beheaded yesterday. I recommend you never ever watch one of those… more than once.

It isn’t a laughing matter. When I call for someone’s beheading, I’m serious.

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 2:21 PM

Hey, Saddam comes to mind…

Christoph on November 5, 2006 at 2:22 PM

fogw, Hot Air is not a free speech zone. In fact, I somewhat tongue-in-cheek (but without anyone even mentioning that I should be banished) criticized Michelle for being so hard core about YouTube’s banning her video, when her own site’s Terms of Use are more restrictive.

You said:

“I always thought that HotAir was a site where people came to freely express their opinions.”

But Hot Air’s Terms of Use say:

“We reserve the right to delete your comments or revoke your registration for any reason. Rarely, if ever, will we do so simply because we disagree with you. We will, however, usually do so if you post something that is, in our good-faith opinion, (a) off-topic; (b) libelous, defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, profane, pornographic, offensive, false, misleading, or which otherwise violates or encourages others to violate these terms of use or any law, including intellectual property laws; or (c) “spam,” i.e., an attempt to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services.”

and

“We value your opinion and are happy to provide you with a forum in which to express it, but if you abuse our hospitality or use our site to injure someone, don’t be surprised if we throw you out.”

No one has threatened to throw you out, but due to an abundance of caution (and Allahpundit is at heart a cautious guy, I think he would admit) he chose to remove a single comment of yours as he did of mine.

I never said he didn’t have the right in my case, just that MHK’s video opened the door to certain comments that would never have been voiced otherwise. And that this was predictible.

Anyway, if AP thought your comment violated the above Terms of Use that I highlighed, do you not see that:

a) agree or disagree, his decision is defensible?
b) you have no free speech rights per se here?

I make the argument rhetorically about free speech, as did Michelle Malkin at YouTube, and it’s reasonable to do so. It certainly doesn’t exist in law though.

And while I defend your privilege to speak here in principle, it’s tougher to stand by your side when you offer such anti-zingers as:

“You have convicted me without letting the jury see the evidence.”

You have been convicted of what exactly? How can Allahpundit allow us to see the evidence used in your “conviction” without republishing material he believes violated his site’s Terms of Use and that might violate or encourage others to violate the law or jeopardize Mr. Gregory’s safety?

I’m going to create a link. Content warning. It will likely be the worst thing you have ever seen in your life so far.

After watching this link, please come back and tell me whether you think jokes about beheading American journalists are funny or whether they are over the line.

If you don’t watch the link, and I understand that, then please drop this issue and respect AP’s decision.

→ link

[content warning... do not click without first reading the above; I seriously advise against clicking the link — it is a video of an American being beheaded]

EF on November 5, 2006 at 3:20 PM

Christoph

I somewhat tongue-in-cheek (but without anyone even mentioning that I should be banished) criticized Michelle

You might rethink the number of posts per topic, this is beginning to look like a chatroom.

Wade on November 5, 2006 at 3:21 PM

For anyone who wants to criticize what I said, please hold off on that. You don’t know what I said. Very few people saw what I said since my post was removed almost immediately.

I wrote two brief sentences. Reading the second put’s the first in a liitle more context. All of the comments AP has made concerning my post deal only with what I said in the first sentence regarding Gregory.

I am certain if AP posted my comments there would be some who were truly offended by it (like my wife) and others who would say, hey that’s pretty funny, I get the sarcasm. People who have seen me post here know I often comment with tongue-in-cheek.

I while back when a thread on Ted Kennedy was running on the site (and everyone was letting him have it) I said the following:

“Of All the Kennedy’s, why is this one still above ground.”

Now, was there any outrage? Was that censored? No. Does anyone believe for a minute that I wanted someone to go out and capture Ted, shoot Ted, bury him in the ground – dead or alive. Of course not. Everyone got the joke. The joke was, why were we stuck with this nut, yet JFK and RFK were tragically killed in their prime.

The same logic could be applied to what I said about Gregory, if everyone saw what I said – and based their opinion upon both sentences, not just the first.

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment. You’ll never see it, so you’ll never know. I just wish AP would stop making it sound a lot worse than it was.

I am a compassionate human being. One with a wicked sense of humor, that’s all. And no, I am not in favor of beheading anyone.

fogw on November 5, 2006 at 3:27 PM

I have seen other blogs which have a policy that anyone who posts to complain about one of their previous posts being deleted or edited will be banned from commenting. I thought that was overkill, but this thread has made me see the wisdom of that policy…

jic on November 5, 2006 at 3:37 PM

“I am certain if AP posted my comments there would be some who were truly offended by it (like my wife) and others who would say, hey that’s pretty funny, I get the sarcasm.”

The problem, fogw, is the first half of it: people like your own wife who are offended. And this is on the topic of cutting journalists’ heads off, for goodness sakes, whey they are at risk of that every day.

We chastized John Kerry for criticizing American soldiers’ intelligence, perhaps inadvertently. Yet this, dare I say it, sounds worse. Not because Gregory is better than the soldiers (he isn’t), but there is huge white space between “dumb” and “severed head”.

And you have not watched the video — from beginning to end with speakers on — so you have not taken the step to viscerally understand why what your wife finds offensive is inappropriate. Sadly, AP probably has seen such a video and this colors his tolerance of your sarcasm. I would never have watched the video I linked to either if I hadn’t wanted to grasp the dispute you had with him.

It changed my views pretty fast.

You’re making AP’s point with your defense. If your wife went, “Gasp, etc.” and was all offended and you acknowledge the topic of your tongue-in-cheek comment was beheading a journalist then… well… dude… you have no point.

“I am a compassionate human being. One with a wicked sense of humor, that’s all. And no, I am not in favor of beheading anyone.”

Your wife is right and so is AP. Choose a new topic for a joke.

Let’s see, there’s (in no particular order)
1) Michelle Malkin,
2) La Shawn Barber,
3) Mary Katharine Ham,
4) Bethany,
5) Amy Holmes,
6) Shemane Nugent,
7) Monica Crowley,
8) Erika Harold,
9) Liz Hasselbeck,
10) Ann Coulter…
The list just goes on and on.
**sigh** So many HOT conservative women, so little time.

Janey,

What is up with that? I mean, Dick Cheney? Rummy? Charles Krauthammer?!

Even the young guys … Rich Lowry? Man, we gotta get some men…

I guess I could throw you a bone, Jane, but would you know what to do with it?

MKH,

Nicely done vid. Perhaps you’ll think twice before giving the wolves around here more to howl at. I suppose if I weren’t still honeymooning (23 years) my reaction would have been more like theirs, but I did enjoy a knowing chuckle.

*Sigh* if there were women like MKH on republicansingles.com I would have signed up…

Christoph, didn’t your yellow umbrellas kill some people in CA? And for crying out loud let Truman escape his pre-fab world.

Mary Katharine is a girl? Honest, I never noticed. I knew I was attracted to her, but it was only because of her intellect. Yeah, intellect.

What was this thread about again? I think I lost something in the comments. Maybe it’s just me.
